GoDaddy.com Reviews (2089)

The company has contacted me and at least addressed my concerns and hopefully will take them into consideration.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Regards,[redacted]

Thank you for the opportunity to address the concerns presented by our customer. We would like to present the following:Our customer acknowledged and agreed to GoDaddy's agreements upon conducting business with GoDaddy. The latest version of these agreements can be found at:...

https://www.godaddy.com/legal-agreements.aspx On April 16, 2015, our customer purchased a domain name via online transaction as part of an expired domain auction.  During the typical domain expiration life-cycle, a domain that has expired and has not been renewed may be placed as part of an “Expired Domain Auction” on GoDaddy’s auction site. Domains purchased in an expired domain auction require the auction bid, plus cost of a one year domain registration renewal be paid after winning the auction.  This renewal is for a one year term from the end of the domain name’s previous registration period, as outlined in the GoDaddy Auctions Membership Agreement our customer acknowledged and agreed to. RESOLUTION:GoDaddy upheld its agreements with our customer in good faith and honored its terms of service. Our customer was provided with the 1 year registration term agreed to, and as such we are unable to honor their request for a refund or an extension of the domain’s registration at no charge. If our customer wishes to maintain this domain name’s registration, they will need to act in a timely manner, as the domain name in question has reached a redemption status.  As a one-time exception and gesture of goodwill, GoDaddy is willing to waive the $80 redemption fee normally associated with a domain in this status.  Our customer may contact our 24/7 Customer Consultation and Care team directly at ###-###-#### to take advantage of this offer.Thank you again for the opportunity to address the concerns presented by our customer.Kindest regards,Mike L[redacted]Office of the CEO - GoDaddy

Unfair renewal policies.
They charge you an excessive amount to restore your account after they failed to warn you appropriately that your credit card was about to expire.

Thank you for the opportunity to address our customer's concerns. Upon conducting business with GoDaddy, our customer acknowledged and accepted our agreements, found at [redacted]On January 5, 2016 our customer purchased a hosting plan and received...

a Microsoft Office 365 Email plan for a 1-year term at no cost. On August 17, 2016, our customer contacted our support teams simultaneously via chat and phone after experiencing problems creating an email address within their email plan. Upon contact with our support team, the DNS services associated with our customer’s domain name were reset and the issue experienced was resolved.  Our customer then demanded an extension to their hosting plan at no cost.RESOLUTION:GoDaddy upheld its agreements with our customer in good faith and honored its terms of service.Once our customer had notified our support team of the problem they experienced with their email address setup, GoDaddy provided the necessary assistance and resolved our customer’s email problem in a timely manner. As explained in our responses to the multiple Revdex.com complaints previously submitted by our customer, GoDaddy has provided multiple gestures of goodwill to them and will not provide further services at no cost.Thank you again for the opportunity to address the concerns presented by our customer.Kindest regards,Gary H[redacted]Office of the CEO - GoDaddy

I was not notified by go daddy.com of any renewal for any service for 2016 so much for their 100% satisfaction  guarantee  thanks for your help in this matter even though I know it's not going to be resolved  they are just ripping their customers off  never dealt with such a company in all my life

Dear Dispute Resolution Consultant,
Thank you for the opportunity to address and bring clarity to the concerns presented by the complainant. We have reviewed this matter and would like to present the following.
The complainant acknowledged and agreed to the following agreements upon...

conducting business with GoDaddy:•    Universal Terms of Service Agreement•    Domain Name Registration Agreement
The latest version of these agreements can be found at: https://www.godaddy.com/legal-agreements.aspx
On November 13, 2008, the complainant registered the domain name in question for a 5 year term via online transaction.  This is for the service period ending November 13, 2013.
On August 30, 2013, the complainant manually renewed the domain name in question for a one year term, extending its service period to November 13, 2014.  The domain was again subsequently renewed for an additional one year term by the complainant during an interaction with GoDaddy’s customer care center on September 9, 2013, extending the service period to November 13, 2015.
On November 14, 2015, GoDaddy was instructed to automatically renew the domain in question per the complainant’s account preferences and did so in a good faith effort to honor its agreements with the complainant.  Automatically renewed products renew for the original purchase term.
GoDaddy sent renewal notices prior to the expiration date on:•    October 14, 2015•    November 8, 2015
These notices informed the complainant their expiring items would be renewed in accordance with their account settings unless additional action was taken. Account management is a customer responsibility.
RESOLUTION:
GoDaddy has upheld its agreements in good faith with the complainant and honored its terms of service.
As GoDaddy is unable to receive a refund for the purchased time on the complainant's domain name registration we are unable to refund the complainant.  To prevent further unwanted renewals, we encourage the complainant to review their account settings and disable any products they do not wish to automatically renew.  EDUCATION:

We stand by our previous response. The service renewal took place on January 20, 2016. Our customer did not contact our support teams until March 21, 2016. GoDaddy is unable to issue a refund, as the refund request is outside of our policy. GoDaddy simply has no control over what happens to the email notices after leaving our system or how the customer’s ISP or email client chooses to handle the email. Thank you again for the opportunity to address the additional concerns presented by the customer. Kindest Regards, KayJay R[redacted] Office of the CEO- GoDaddy

Dear Dispute Resolution Consultant,
Thank you for the opportunity to address and bring clarity to the additional concerns presented by the complainant. GoDaddy does not arbitrarily change the automatic renewal setting on a customer’s behalf; account management is a customer responsibility.  Customers may, at any time, log into their account and modify this preference. GoDaddy also sent the complainant email notifications of the pending renewal prior to taking renewal action as directed by the complainant via their account preferences. As a goodwill gesture and one-time exception to our refund policy, GoDaddy has refunded 50% of the renewal cost of the domain to the complainant’s original payment method, a total of $32.05.Thank you again for the opportunity to address and bring clarity to the additional concerns presented by the complainant.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.  [redacted] called and she was an excellent listener and she apologized and stated that she would help to provide better training for the manager who handled poorly.  This complain main point is helping Godaddy's customer service doing better job and to keep customers happily with them.

Thank you for the opportunity to address our customer's concerns. Upon conducting business with GoDaddy, our customer acknowledged and accepted our agreements, found at https://www.godaddy.com/legal-agreements.aspx. On May...

20, 2013 our customer purchased Premium DNS for a 3 year term. On May 16, 2016 our customer renewed the service for 2 additional years. Premium DNS offers our customers a higher level of support and advanced features to a customer’s DNS management. Our customer contacted our support teams between September 9-15th, 2016 in regard to not being able to change their domain’s SOA record. Our support teams properly informed our customer the Premium DNS service does not support SOA record modification. RESOLUTION: GoDaddy upheld its agreements with our customer in good faith and honored its terms of service. GoDaddy's support staff worked diligently and vigorously to work with our customer to the best of our ability and satisfy their needs. SOA records cannot be added or edited within our Nameserver/Zone file. If our customer would like the functionality to edit their domain’s SOA record, they will need to self-manage their domain DNS. This is not something our Premium DNS service supports; however, it can be performed by purchasing and managing their own Virtual Dedicated or Dedicated Server. Thank you again for the opportunity to address the concerns presented by our customer. Kindest regards,   KayJay R[redacted] Office of the CEO - GoDaddy

The TIMELINE of the my purchase and the offer from GoDaddy is NOT CORRECT as delineated by the GoDaddy representative. In fact, I received the OFFER after I had completed a conversation with a representative regarding the fees for possible renewals. After I mentioned to the representative that I would go ahead and renew only certain domain names on my own, I hung up. The offer for the 25% off my NEXT PURCHASE was then sent to me. My NEXT PURCHASE was within minutes when I logged in to my account and proceeded to renew only certain domain names that were expiring that same day..and I purchased a couple of new names as well. I then noticed the email with the promo code just as I completed the renewal and purchase. I called GoDaddy to explain that my NEXT PURCHASE had just occurred and that I would like to have the promo discount applied to it. They refused. In their characteristic SUBPAR service, they insisted that it would have to be another "NEXT PURCHASE" because I had just completed that one without applying the code.
AGAIN, the correct timeline is as follows:
      1) I spoke to a representative about renewals - ultimately did not renew directly with him 2) Go Daddy sent me the promotional 25% discount via an email..and 3) I then renewed some domain names and purchased a couple more - then I called Go Daddy to apply the code and they outright refused - with a great deal of pretentiousness and condescension...I have the emails and timestamps for everything...so the agent from GoDaddy should go back and get his facts straight...his response is UNACCEPTABLE!

Dear Dispute Resolution Consultant,Thank you for the opportunity to address and bring clarity to the concerns presented by the complainant. We have reviewed this matter and would like to present the following. The complainant acknowledged and agreed to the following agreements upon...

conducting business with GoDaddy:• GoDaddy Universal Terms of Service Agreement• GoDaddy Domain Name Registration Agreement• GoDaddy Domain Name Proxy AgreementThe latest version of these agreements can be found at: https://www.godaddy.com/legal-agreements.aspxOn October 18, 2009 the complainant registered the domain name in question for a five-year term via an online transaction. During this purchase, the complainant opted to add GoDaddy's Protected Registration service to their registration.  The complainant subsequently renewed the domain name for an additional one-year term during a call to GoDaddy’s Customer care Center on April 19, 2010.The Protected Registration service; which the complainant elected to add to their domain registration, is the highest level of protection for a domain name that GoDaddy offers. This premium, add-on service provides private registration and also protects against the cancellation, expiration, or transfer of a domain name. Domain names which have this service cannot be cancelled, transferred, or have their automatic renewal disabled until the Protected Registration is canceled. This is done by way of submitting a valid government issued ID, Business ID if applicable, and a signed form to our Domain Services Department. On May 5, 2015 the complainant submitted a request to cancel the Protected Registration services. As the complainant did not include the necessary documentation to support their cancellation request, our Domain Services team responded accordingly.GoDaddy proactively sent multiple notices to the complainant regarding the next scheduled renewal of the domain name. These notices were sent on the following dates:• July 20, 2015• August 19, 2015• September 18, 2015• October 3, 2015• October 13, 2015Additionally, GoDaddy’s support team proactively reached out to the complainant via phone on September 10, 2015 and provided instructions to remove the Protected Registration from the domain name. The complainant declined to act on these instructions. On October 19, 2015, GoDaddy was instructed to automatically renew the complainant's domain name and associated Protected Registration services per their account preferences and did so in a good faith effort to honor its agreements with the complainant.RESOLUTION:GoDaddy has upheld its agreements in good faith with the complainant and honored its terms of service. The Protected Registration service functioned as advertised; keeping the domain name from being canceled or transferred without proof of identification. We appreciate the complainant’s candid feedback about our service levels and will ensure their concerns are fully reviewed by our customer care managers in an effort to identify improvement opportunities. GoDaddy strives to offer the best service levels in the industry.EDUCATION:The complainant may find the following articles helpful:What is Protected Registrationhttps://support.godaddy.com/help/article/1286/what-is-protected-regi... Dear Dispute Resolution Consultant,Thank you for the opportunity to address and bring clarity to the concerns presented by the complainant. We have reviewed this matter and would like to present the following. The complainant acknowledged and agreed to the following agreements upon...

conducting business with GoDaddy:·         Universal Terms of Service Agreement·         Domain Name Registration AgreementThe latest version of these agreements can be found at: https://www.[redacted].com/[redacted]The complainant is claiming that GoDaddy has “front run” a domain name that they have attempted to register.  The complainant’s belief is that they are being denied registering a domain so that GoDaddy is instead registering the domains in an attempt to profit from them.  Domain front running is a practice which GoDaddy does not and will not engage in.GoDaddy makes every attempt to register available domain names for our customers.  As part of this process, we make multiple inquiries via numerous third-party systems, including the domain name registry, to check if a domain is available.  If GoDaddy does not receive a negative response indicating that the domain is not available for registration, we will charge our customers for the registration and submit the request to the registry.  If the request is later rejected, GoDaddy will refund the purchase price in full, in accordance with the Domain Name Registration Agreement and Universal Terms of Service Agreement. On January 31, 2015, the complainant purchased a registration request for the domain name in question.  At the time of purchase, our system did not receive an immediate rejection, and proceeded with the transaction.  Shortly after GoDaddy submitted the registration request to the registry, it was rejected, as the domain is not currently publicly available for registration. A public WHOIS lookup of this domain indicates that it is currently in a pending delete status, and is in the process of being returned to the domain registry. RESOLUTION:GoDaddy has upheld its agreements in good faith with the complainant and honored its terms of service. As the registration request could not be completed, the transaction in question has been refunded in full in accordance with our Refund Policy and terms of service. Thank you again for the opportunity to address and bring clarity to the concerns presented by the complainant.Kindest regards,[redacted]Office of the CEO - GoDaddy

Thank you for the opportunity to address our customer's concerns. Upon conducting business with GoDaddy, our customer acknowledged and accepted our agreements, found at https://www.godaddy.com/legal-agreements.aspx.On August 6, 2013, our customer purchased a Linux shared hosting plan...

for 1 year term via online transaction.  On August 6, 2013, our customer renewed this hosting plan for an additional 2 year term with assistance from GoDaddy’s customer care team.On August 5, 2016, per our customer's account preferences, GoDaddy was instructed to automatically renew the service in question for another 2 year term and did so in a good faith effort to honor its agreements with our customer.GoDaddy sent a renewal prior to the expiration date on July 26, 2016.  This notice informed our customer their expiring items would be renewed in accordance with their account settings unless additional action was taken. Account management is a customer responsibility.RESOLUTION:GoDaddy upheld its agreements with our customer in good faith and honored its terms of service. Our customer did not contact GoDaddy’s support teams regarding the hosting renewal until September 15, 2016, at which time they requested a refund.  They were correctly informed that the hosting was no longer refund-eligible, per GoDaddy’s refund policy, found at: https://www.godaddy.com/agreements/showdoc.aspx?pageid=19963We encourage our customer to review and manage their account settings to prevent further unwanted renewals. Thank you again for the opportunity to address the concerns presented by our customer.Kindest regards,Mike L[redacted]Office of the CEO - GoDaddy

Dear Dispute Resolution ConsultantThank you for bringing our customer's additional comments to our attention. As stated in our original response on January 6, 2015, account management and the renewal of domains is solely a customer responsibility. These are the terms our customer agreed to when they registered their domains through GoDaddy. While GoDaddy sent expiration notices before and after the domain's expiration date to the customer via email, GoDaddy simply has no control over what happens to an email notice after it leaves our system or how the customer's ISP or email client chooses to handle the email once they receive it.Our original response also stated that GoDaddy is not the hosting provider for the website that is currently associated with the domain in question and we are not the registrar of the domain. As such, we have no control over the website content and any complaints about the current domain or website are third party complaints, unrelated to GoDaddy.Resolution:GoDaddy has upheld its agreements in good faith with our customer and honored its terms of service.1) The customer did not take any action and allowed the domain name to expire.2) The domain was legitimately registered to another party who then associated it with the current website.3) We have no evidence to support that the customer’s GoDaddy account was hacked.4) Our services worked as expected during the time frame that the customer paid for them with GoDaddy.5) GoDaddy has no control over the current website content or domain registrar and any complaints about this are third party complaints, unrelated to GoDaddy.Thank you for the opportunity to address and bring clarity to the concerns presented by our customer.Kindest regards[redacted]

I understand their terms and agreement and didn't get prior notification. Might have gone to the junk folder. Even though it's auto renwal set up, if the credit card is expired. As per CFB, business needs to verify with the consumer and update their expired credit card before charging that card. They charged on the expired card which is not usually good business practice and I will accept the charge which is charged using the expired account.

Dear Dispute Resolution Consultant,Thank you for the opportunity to address and bring clarity to the additional concerns presented by our customer. We have reviewed this matter and would like to present the following. We stand by our previous response. Account management is a customer responsibility.  GoDaddy upheld its agreements in good faith with our customer and honored its terms of service. Specifically, GoDaddy renewed the service in accordance with our customer's account preferences. Automatic renewals are discussed in detail within our Universal Terms of Service Agreement and Domain Name Registration Agreement, both acknowledged and agreed to by our customer. On September 11, 2015, the funds for the August 27, 2015 renewal transaction were withdrawn from GoDaddy and returned to the associated payment method as the result of a chargeback/payment dispute GoDaddy received from our customer's financial institution. Subsequently, the product has been removed from our customer's account.  As such, we believe this matter is resolved.Thank you for the opportunity to address and bring clarity to the concerns presented by our customer.Kindest regards,[redacted]Office of the CEO[redacted]GoDaddy.com[redacted]Scottsdale, AZ 85260
