Domains By Proxy Reviews (86)

Review: Around July 2013, [redacted] Inc merged with a company called [redacted] Payroll. We decided to administer all our domain names through their account with [redacted].com. This account was originally setup under the name "[redacted]", with the primary contact being [redacted].

When they signed up their accounts, they turned on "Protection", which [redacted] does through a related company called Domains by Proxy. They signed up several different domain names, and many of which ended up also being "protected".

When [redacted] added our domains ([redacted].com and [redacted].net) to this site, we were automatically enrolled in this "Protection" with Domains by Proxy. I did not realize this when we signed up.

We went to turn off auto-renewal on certain domains with [redacted], but in order to do so, we have to turn off the "Protection" from Domains by Proxy.

[redacted] does not remember the password setup with Domains by Proxy, even though we have the password for [redacted].

We attempted to reset the password and have it e-mailed. We never received an e-mail. ([redacted], myself, or any other parties.)

Domains by Proxy then instructed us to submit an e-mail reset form. However, it requires business validation on [redacted] that we are unable to provide. [redacted]

"you must submit one of the following government-issued documents for company identification:

A copy of the company's business license

Tax certificate (number alone is not acceptable)

"Doing Business As" documentation

Fictitious Name documentation

IRS 501(c)3 "Determination Letter"

State issued certificate of tax exemption showing charitable status"

We do not have any access to this information. Plus, none of this information was required to setup the account. All they took was a text box of the company name.

We have spent hours of time filling out their forms, communicating via e-mail and attempting to talk with someone about it.

There response has simply been that this is their policy and they need those documents to reset anything.

This website is the life-blood of our company, and I feel like Domains by Proxy is essentially holding us hostage or extorting us. Let me explain... I can't turn off [redacted] auto-renewal. I can't remove a credit card without providing a new one. If I let it expire, then they will turn off my hosting services and I lose access to my domain, [redacted].com and my website access. If I pay, then I forever have to pay for Domains by Proxy and [redacted].

I'm frustrated enough that I now want to leave [redacted] for good.

[redacted] from [redacted] has been unsuccessful resetting his password, Domains by Proxy will not speak with me, and [redacted] is claiming there is nothing they can do.

[redacted] is an unrelated entity that does not own [redacted]. I can prove ownership of [redacted], but they still won't release by domain because they say it is under [redacted], which doesn't have any documentation to prove it even exists.

Thank you for your help. I don't know what else to do, but my next step is to hire a lawyer, which seems like such a waste for such a simple problem and a simple solution.Desired Settlement: I want the locks removed and password reset and e-mail reset for [redacted] so that we can stop using Domains by Proxy.

My [redacted] cr is: [redacted]

Domains:

[redacted].com

[redacted].net

These are the ones I own and care about the most.

[redacted] also wants the locks removed from the other ones, but they are less important: [redacted]401k.com

[redacted]pay.com

[redacted]pay.org

[redacted]payroll.com

[redacted]payroll.org

Response:

Dear [redacted],

We have reviewed this matter and our records indicate that Mr. [redacted]'s Email Update Request was successfully processed yesterday, June 10, 2014. Mr. [redacted] now can retrieve the necessary login information to gain access to the account and cancel private registration for [redacted].COM and [redacted].COM. As a courtesy, we have included account retrieval instructions listed below that Mr. [redacted] can forward to Mr. [redacted].

Unfortunately, we are unable to assist Mr. [redacted] with canceling privacy for [redacted].COM, [redacted].COM, [redacted].COM, [redacted].COM, [redacted].ORG, [redacted].COM and [redacted].ORG, as these domains are utilizing Protected Registration (“PR”). PR is a bundled product offered by [redacted] and can only be canceled by completing the form located at www.cancelpr.com and submitting the required documents. Mr. [redacted] can contact p[redacted].com for any other questions about this service.

Mr. [redacted] is more than welcome to contact us if he requires further assistance.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Thanks so much for your help/time. I don't think this would have been resolved without your help.

Regards,

Review: This domain does not need or want private registration costing $9.99-yr and the company mentioned refuses to remove it or give me access to their website to remove it myself. www.[redacted].biz is used as an email address and I want public registration so anyone can contact me to purchase this domain at a reasonable price. I have been trying to remove the private registration for several years- every time the domain is renewed, yet they refuse me access to their website and request unreasonable government issued paperwork while I am listed as the owner of this site under [redacted]N & [redacted], both industry standards to identify domain owners.

Please see below & thank you in advance for your attention ................................................................................... />

• State issued certificate of tax exemption showing charitable status

Very truly yours,

Domains By Proxy Customer SupportDesired Settlement: Simply remove all private registrations from all my personal domains; I must renew www.[redacted].biz within the next few days, if this cannot be removed before my last day to renew this domain, I will want a full refund sent to me at the address they have on file within my account I cannot access.

Review: I have been registered through [redacted] for a few years. I have never logged into private registration until now when I tried to cancel before I renew my domains. Because I did not know log info I sent this company a photo of my drivers license verifying who I am. They claim there is a company name attached to the account. I have no idea what they are talking about as I have confirmed with [redacted] that I have only an individual account.

This is for

These domains have my name as verified by my drivers license.

This company takes days to respond to my emails even though I have already stressed that It is urgent because I have to renew my domains or I may lose them because of Domain by Proxy delayed response and failure to honor my request.Desired Settlement: I want all of private registration assigned to my account CANCELED Immediately as I will never use this company again because of this ridiculous situation where I have verified my identity. I want this account closed asap and ALL private registration canceled immediately so that I can renew my domains with [redacted].

Review: This complaint is against a web site vendor "avadars.com". I have made a purchase via their site "www.avadars.com" and was instructed to pay using an Amazon Gift Card. I purchased the Amazon Gift Card and had it emailed directly from Amazon to "support@[redacted]com" as instructed.I promptly received an e-mail from Amazon that my gift card was redeemed. [redacted].com had also sent me an e-mail confirming my order and promised to ship within 2 days (signed by [redacted], Sales Representative). It's one week later now, they shipped nothing and they ignored all my e-mail inquiries. I am unable to find their address and phone number on their site. I am only able to login and see my order on their site with the status "Processing". I think the company is a fraud and it had no intention of selling anything. My only address info is from the Internet "whois" database which lists their domain registrar as: Registrant Name: Registration Private Registrant Organization: Domains By Proxy, LLC Registrant Street: [redacted]Desired Settlement: I want my order delivered or my money refunded.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]I realize that the complaint should be filed against [redacted].com. I statedso explicitly in my original complaint. However, [redacted].com does not list their address! The domain registration company has their address, and should give it to Revdex.com. ThenRevdex.com will forward complaint to the business in question, i.e., [redacted].comPlease give us the address for [redacted].com. Thank you.

Review: Godaddy is holding domains for hostage and the ransom payment is an annual subscription fee to Domains By Proxy . On September 20, 2015, I bought the Domains By Proxy add-on privacy service for one of my existing domain names which is registered with Godaddy. After this purchase I never received an email from Godaddy or Domains By Proxy with my Domains By Proxy cr for this domain. Because of this I cannot access any Domains By Proxy settings for this domain. As the domain owner, I should be able to modify or cancel a product or service that is attached to my domain name. I can do that with other domain settings e.g. nameservers, contact information, but for some reason, not privacy. I cannot even renew this domain without having to pay this Domains By Proxy fee. Please help me to get this Domains By Proxy privacy feature removed from my domains. I do not want a refund, I just want this horrible privacy service cancelled and removed from my domains. Thank you.Desired Settlement: Domains By Proxy and Godaddy, are the same. They share the same customer service agents. They play the same hold music, and they were founded by the same person. I do not understand why their customer service agents are hell bent on perpetrating this hoax that they are two unique entities that cannot share information or help at all with this Domains by Proxy nightmare. I would like Domains by Proxy to cancel and remove their privacy service from my domains. I would also like Revdex.com to inform the Arizona attorney general's office of the shady business practices from Domains by Proxy/Godaddy. Thank you.
