I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]
I realize that the complaint should be filed against [redacted].com. I stated
so explicitly in my original complaint. However, [redacted].com does not list their address!
The domain registration company has their address, and should give it to Revdex.com. Then
Revdex.com will forward complaint to the business in question, i.e., [redacted].com
Please give us the address for [redacted].com. Thank you.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,
The matter is not resolved. We are still unable to transfer out of Domains by Proxy, for purposes of registering domain name elsewhere. DBP has sent login info to the name on the DBP account, Sandy Smiroldo, our former website manager. She forwarded the email to me. The login info she forwarded does not provide us access, and it is impossible to complete the task without access. There is no active link on their "Information to Reset" email she forwarded that would allow access." DBP continues to send us through a circular process that yields no results.

Dear [redacted], Domains By Proxy was contacted by [redacted] asking for assistance in updating the account so that he could gain access and cancel the privacy service. As he is not listed as the owner of the account, nor the registrant of the domain name at issue, we asked that he...
provide not only photo ID for himself, but also for business ID for the company listed as the actual registrant/account holder from our acceptable list. Our policies require such documentation to ensure that we are providing access to the correct party. While we were trying to contact our current customer to see if we could find a way to resolve the situation for both parties, our customer was able to contact the Mr. [redacted] directly. Our office was copied in the email our customer sent to Mr. [redacted]. Since our customer and Mr. [redacted] have been in contact with each other, it is up to our customer if they would like to provide Mr. [redacted] with the necessary login information to gain access to the account so privacy can be cancelled. Our email update process is a last resort process to help our customers gain access to their account when they are unable to retrieve their login information through our online tool. Since the email address on the account is active and our customer has access to the email address on the account to use our online account retrieval tool, we consider this matter resolved. All we can recommend is Mr. [redacted] work with our customer directly to receive the necessary login information gain access to the account so privacy can be cancelled.
Dear [redacted] We received notice of a consumer complaint filed against Domains By Proxy (“DBP”) regarding PUBLICRECORDS.DIRECTORY. DBP provides a private registration service that allows its customers to register domain names without listing their contact information in the public WHOIS...
database. Since DBP is listed as the registrant of the domain name, it may appear that DBP operates or has an interest in the domain name or website. That is not the case; DBP is neither a domain name registrar, nor a hosting provider and has no control over the content of our customers' websites. Therefore, as the complaint is actually against our customer, we request that you withdraw the current complaint and file a new one against PUBLICRECORDS.DIRECTORY. Please let us know if you have any questions.Kind regards,
Domains By Proxy, LLC
I signed up for domain hosting with GoDaddy in 2007 when I started my business. At the time I signed up, I also signed up for a privacy service called Domains by Proxy (DBP), owned by GoDaddy. Late last year, I decided to change the hosting service for my domain name and tried to move it. I was informed by GoDaddy that I needed to log into DBP to make the change. I couldn't remember my login information, so I used the link where they send you an e-mail to allow you to reset your password. Unfortunately, the e-mail address I had signed up with seven years earlier is no longer active, so I couldn't get the e-mail. DBP has another process to allow you to get information to allow you to log in, but that process requires you to upload a copy of your driver's license. For security reasons, I didn't want to send my driver's license through the Internet. There is no phone number to contact DBP, so I had to complain about them on their [redacted] page to get their attention. I was told repeatedly that I had to upload my driver's license, and I told them repeatedly that that was a security risk. Finally, they acknowledged that I could black out pieces of information on the license that are sensitive, and send it to them. I did this. They then told me that they needed to confirm I was the owner of my business, and that I should send them proof, such as a copy of an IRS document. My business is a sole proprietorship, so I don't have a separate EIN. I sent them a copy of my business license with the City. They rejected it, because it had expired the month before, and I didn't have the new one yet. I send them a document I had showing the registration of my business with the State of California. They rejected it because "it was downloaded from the Internet". Finally, I had to make a trip to the City to get a copy of my business license printed out.
I also contacted GoDaddy to help get this resolved, since DBP is owned by GoDaddy, but they said they couldn't contact DBP on my behalf.
The entire time, I felt that DBP was not attempting to resolve the situation, but instead was attempting to keep me from changing my domain hosting. Rather than providing a clear set of instructions, they seem to have made things up additional conditions or restrictions. It took me weeks to get this resolved, rather than the minutes it should have. My bank doesn't require me to provide them with a copy of my driver's license; they have a method set up for me to confirm who I am, and they have a person you can call to get things resolved. This business may not be a scam, but they behave like one, and this experience has left me feeling angry and abused.
Review: [redacted] Protected Registration's Office have been given sufficent ID to identify me and my company. They have both my drivers license and the licensing information contained at the [redacted] which regulates our industry. Our license is [redacted] as can be verified by going to [redacted]://[redacted].[redacted].[redacted].**.**/[redacted].[redacted] and typing our license number into the form.Desired Settlement: Release of the domain [redacted].[redacted] from protected status OR provide a means by which I and/or may company can establish our identity and rights to this domain.

Review: I noticed that [redacted] billed my credit card for $209.00 for an auto renewal of a $9.00 domainsbyproxy service that I did not authorize and or sign up for. I tried calling to have it removed, but was told that I had to follow several steps that I was unable to do. I am disabled and am unable to follow all of these steps. I simply want this removed from any and all domain names that I own. I did not authorize this service & I want it removed. The domain name in question is [redacted], the c
r is [redacted] - I am on the phone with [redacted] customer service trying to escalate to have this removed and credited back to my credit card but am holding and the service rep likes to tell me that whoever takes the escalated call will tell me the same thing the other one did that they cannot do it, I have to wait for an email that comes to my phone (which I am on), so I asked them to provide me with the link directly, they tried, but it still did not work. [redacted] my link would be [redacted] - me editing this doesnt work [redacted] - [redacted].
Put the actual link into the body of your emails and do NOT make it difficult for the customer to cancel purchases that you added onto their account w/o their permission.Desired Settlement: Put the actual link into the body of your emails and do NOT make it difficult for the customer to cancel purchases that you added onto their account w/o their permission.

Dear Revdex.com,
Thank you for your message.
It appears that Ms. [redacted] has been misinformed, as we (Domains By Proxy) and [redacted] are different companies. [redacted] is an affiliate of ours and offers our private registration service to their customers. Also, all sales and billing of our private registration service are handled by [redacted].
That said, all we can recommend is that Ms. [redacted] contact [redacted]'s Billing Department at [redacted] for assistance with her refund request, as [redacted] is where Ms. [redacted] purchased our private registration service and [redacted] is who has the ability to offer a refund.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

I just spoke with "[redacted]" in Customer Service and she was of no help at all! Their customer, [redacted].com, hides their identity behind domainsbyproxy.com, and does not respond to requests via either email or through their online contact form. I have asked domainsbyproxy.com to contact their customer, [redacted].com to pass along the message that I have been trying to contact them to remove personal information from their website for several weeks. [redacted] says there is no way to contact their customer to pass along the request. I find this impossible - do they not know who their customer is? They have no way to contact their customer to request my personal information be removed? If that is the case, they have a poor business model indeed! Perhaps [redacted] is mistaken and there is a way to get a message through to their customer. In any event, I cannot lodge a complaint again [redacted].com because I do not know what state in which they are incorporated, I do not have a street address or telephone number with which to contact them. Therefore, I hold domainsbyproxy.com responsible for their customer's actions.
Review: I ordered a computer cleanup program from [redacted] on 01/26/16. I was told it would take approximately 4 hrs to complete. Actually, it took about 36 hrs and computer is not repaired. They removed some of my websites and installed ones I have no clue about. I made 22 calls to these numbers (for 2 days)..[redacted] and 8[redacted].my "on hold" time totaled over 3 hrs. I asked for a supervisor several times, but was put on hold, and, subsequently, the phone just went dead. This is definitely the worst website I have ever used. Every agent I spoke to said the very same thing.....your pc is being worked on and we will contact you when it is ready to use again. I am retired, partially disabled and my pc is basically my whole world. I would NOT recommend this site to anyone!

sent you the incorrect website name....the following is the correct website. I got absolutely NO services from Avangate, ordered a $14 repair kit, yet was charged $36.95. I spent 22 hours on phone with reimage.com for 3 days and 3 hrs total on hold. The process was to take approximately 4 hrs, when, actually it took a total of 27 hrs. I could not use my pc all that time. They also installed more viruses, therefore, after wasting $136.95 for MORE trouble and have since had to purchase a new laptop. ReimageRepair is still installed on my ruined pc and cannot be removed. What kind of service is this for honest Americans
Review: This company is listed as the private administrator for website(s), which is another way of saying that they "shield" websites from people wanting to file complaints, among other things. On January 12, 2015 at 4:13 pm East Coast time, I finished filling out and submitting a complaint on Domains By Proxy's website, The complaint was against a website for which D By P is listed as the private administrator. I followed their procedures and gave all required data. When the message/complaint is submitted, a message appears stating that a response will not be immediate but will take days. I have been very patient.
I have heard absolutely nothing from them. since! Contact them again? How? Through their website? I think the fact that they totally ignored a complaint, filed properly using their requirements, says a tremendous amount about them.
I am still awaiting an answer.
Did I contact the wrong shielding administrator? If so, why not relate proof back to me? ALL contact should be through e mail given in Both complaints...Domains By Proxy and Revdex.com......[redacted]Desired Settlement: I expect a full explanation of:
Why zero response? What do they ([redacted] intend to do to prevent totally ignoring a complaint in the future?
What became of my complaint? Was any action taken at all? If so, provide proof of such.

INDEED, your email did NOT come through, regardless of lack of bounce, as you have so graciously indicated. I think you would agree that it is important for BOTH of us to understand why an e mail from such a reputable company did go through as intended. My spam is cleanly out daily, so it was not there. But then, when filing a complaint through your website, you do NOT give any info as to what should be added to Contacts to avoid rejection, which is why I check spam daily. Also, you did not give any suggestions on follow up if a response was not received in the time frame indicated by your website....which is something the vast majority of businesses, who take complaints seriously, do.Please rest assured, that your cavalier attitude does not relieve you, FanFiction or host of said mentioned website of any responsibility.I need to know exactly who is the host of this website, if I have or have not contacted the right people, you should state such. Copyright and Trademark violations should not be taken so lightly, as you response indicates you have.

Review: I purchased a dump from their site and according to the site information is that once I purchase the dump that it will be ready for immediate download. After three days and numerous emails to the company I have yet to receive any conformation email nor have I received the dump I purchased. The last time this happened they said it was a PayPal issue . This is not the case since I paid their company through PayPal and got a receipt for my purchase.Desired Settlement: I either want my money back or I want the dump I purchased delivered with some sort of compensation for the company not providing the proper service.

Review: I have a domain account that I registered with [redacted]. As an option offered to me upon signing up, I chose to hide my personal information for security and to put up another barrier to ID theft etc.. outsources this security to a company called Domains by Proxy, but I was not informed of that at the time I signed up. I signed up for the account and things went well for the terms of service. Then, for the last several years at my renewal date I have tried to removed the privacy from my account. (I have the emails to prove that I tried to remove it) I was informed by [redacted] that I needed to contact Domains by Proxy to take the hold off of my account privacy for me. As required, I contacted Domains By Proxy and was given a laundry list of documents that they needed for me to send them in order for them to release my account. These documents were NOT needed for the privacy to be started. I sent them the documents they asked for. Then they asked for another document that was not originally asked for, a photo of a government ID. Being that such a request is very odd and not included with the original set of documents, I was cautious. Sending a photo of a government issued identification in this day and age of rampant ID theft to a company I have no dealings with nor have a way of being sure they are not a scam or being impersonated by a scammer is highly questionable. I debated as to sending it. Then they emailed me again and told me the matter was closed because too much time had elapsed, a time limit they did NOT make me aware of until it was too late. I was told that I could start the whole process over again if I would like. Needless to say, I WOULD NOT LIKE!!! Additionally, I have had to pay [redacted] for services that I DO NOT WANT. At this point my internet DOMAIN is nothing less than being held hostage by a company that I never signed up for. Along with that, the requests they are making for the documents supposedly needed to facilitate the subsequent release of my PRIVATE information are being asked for again along with an unreasonable and risky (as per security and ID theft) demand that I send a photo of my personal. identification.Desired Settlement: Desired Settlement: 1) I would like my domain released. 2) Reimbursement of the last 2 years that I have tried to remove the privacy from my account. 3) A change in the way they do business in that the documents should be asked for to start the privacy and then upon a customer's desire to change registrars only verified by phone for instant release when requested. A photo of a government identification is not a reasonable request from a company that deals in privacy. The risk of interception and the ramifications of such a breach of privacy should be clear and apparent to a company that deals in privacy.

Review: I registered a domain through [redacted] (who as of May 2014 owns Domains By Proxy), and added a [redacted] privacy service. I never received an email from domains by proxy with my account number or login information. I checked my Inbox as well as Spam folder. I called customer service, the first gentleman was extremely rude and made it sound like I was at fault and that I had changed my email address. Now I am unable to login to even view the [redacted] information, I cannot cancel the service, nor can I transfer the domain in question, Domains By Proxy is basically holding my domain hostage.
I am not the only person who has experienced this in the past, when I called [redacted] to complain, I was told that they have heard this from other customers.Desired Settlement: Please refund and cancel my service.
Thank you.

Review: This is a GoDaddy scam that is very hard to get out of.
I registered some domains with Godaddy that offered free domain privacy and I simply checked a box that accepted this free service. When I went to renew my domain registrations I could not opt out from now paying $9.95 per year per domain for domain privacy services and I would have to cancel my account with a third party domains by proxy. I tried to do so and I was told I needed my login and password for my domains by proxy account and when I requested this information they would not respond. I had simply checked a box to agree to a free year and I never signed up for anything or was I asked for any password etc. information so I have no account information with domain privacy services and they will not respond to my attempts to contact them. Contacting GoDaddy support got me nowhere they said they cannot help me and that only domain privacy services could help with this problem
So I decided to just register my domains with another register and move from GoDaddy. When I requested my EPP Authorization code to release my account with Godaddy nothing happened and after spending even more time on this it turns out Domain Privacy Services was blocking the EPP Authorization code from being sent to me by Godaddy. So I again contacted Domain Privacy Services and asked that they release my EPP Authorization code I just want to take my business elsewhere and again no response what so ever.
It looks to me like this is a big scam Godaddy offers you a free service for one year and makes it next to impossible to get out of the deal and not start paying for it.
