ConsumerDirect Mortgage, a Division of FirstBank Reviews (242)

Amazing, the Best Experience I've ever had, I would recommend CDM to anyone who's looking to refinance. Very Positive experience. if I had to do it all again, I would use CDM and that for sure! The process went very smoothly and in a timely manner.

I've been through the mortgage process several times before but the experience with ConsumerDirect Mortgage was by far the easiest and the best.

I worked with Stephen S and he was fast and to the point. I was comparing notes with several of his competitors at the same time shopping for the best deal, and in the end, there were no hidden fees and surprises, which I cannot say for the competitors. This was my first refinance that was completed 100% of the internet, and Stephen is the real reason this was possible as he answered all my questions timely and helped guide me from start to finish to ensure that everything was completed within the 30 day rate lock. 10/10 - Would work with him again.

Very good rates, but inconsistent service - some people were courteous/responsive/helpful, while others were dismissive and inattentive to details (or perhaps intentionally misleading?). We stated on several occasions both by phone and email that we did not want to include any closing costs into the new loan, but the penultimate closing disclosure still had some of the prepaid and escrow amounts being covered by the new loan, even though we had said we would pay these directly at the closing. Also, we did not receive confirmation of the closing time from the notary service until the morning of the closing date.

I would still like to thank Dale C - she was always extremely quick to respond, and helped to clear up our concerns with the disclosure. But not sure I would use Consumer Direct again.

During my purchase of my 4th home at Marietta, GA, I was shopping around probable lender of my property. I got GFE from many financial institution including Bank of America, plurality of Credit Union(s) and the Consumer Direct Mortgage is by far the best of all. I was so blessed to work with Stephen Spivey (Loan officer), Brian Black (Loan processor) and Hesta J (Loan Processor) and with their un-parallel professional work, we are able to close the property before even due date. We were scheduled to close on May 27th but we are able to close on May 19th. This was possible due to their professional work.
First bank is not a broker ... rather it is a direct lender. With First bank, I was also able to make bi-weekly payment without any fees at all.
If you are looking for a lender that not only give the best rate, but also you can count on, the ConsumerDirect Mortgage is the way to Go!

Excellent rate! Excellent service! Didn't charge a plethora of other "fees" as other lenders do. Very satisfied! Have already recommended to a friend.

Did a mortgage with ConsumerDirect. Great online experience. Our Senior Mortgage Banker Charles P. did an awesome job explaining the steps, walking us through the process, and making sure everything went smoothly. The staff was all very professional and responsive and the rates at ConsumerDirect were some of the best ones on Bank Rate. I highly recommend.

Very bad experience. My loan sat for 3 months. I kept inquiring as to the status and was repeatedly told they were getting extensions and it was going through the approval process. Twice they asked for me info and I replied within a few hours. My employer was repeatedly asked for the same information even after they sent to them 2 times. Then they came back with a different sheet of info request. Finally when I was told the loan would be ready to sign within the next 48 hours (this is after 3 months of them sitting on it) I get a message telling me unfortunately since this went beyond the allotted extension time (all due to them) I could not get that rate anymore and would now have to pay a higher rate. This was at the point when the rates increased. That was not what I negotiated with them and to me sounds like a scam to drag this out and lose the locked-in rate so I would then have to pay more. They thought I would just agree to a higher rate. They then blamed my homeowners manger whom they said did not send them the insurance form they needed, however he sent it off to them and even if I gave them the benefit of the doubt, what mortgage lender waits without around 2 months not relaying to customer they are missing information to close the loan?

Now it's too late for me to get the refinance I needed and the cash out. I am now in a financial bind due to these people. Steer clear. There are so many other reputable lenders out there and the advice I have now been given is to always deal with a bank directly because they must stand by their guaranteed rate. These people refunded the appraisal fee but that hardly helps me now. Horrible, horrible company who should not be in business!

The Good, the bad and the ugly. The good - our loan originator [redacted]. Knowledgeable and attentive. The bad - our appraisal. Appraiser assigned by CD Mortgage made many factual mistakes on our appraisal and was not cooperative in changing them. The mistakes affected the value of our home. The Ugly - the person who came to our home to sign final papers arrived 45 minutes late AND he required us to print our own mortgage papers - we had to use 105 pages of our own printer paper and most of a new ink cartridge and it took 45 additional minutes to print! Then, 4 days after we wired the money for our closing costs we got a call that the funds had not been received. We had properly wired thm to the correct place. the whole thing was stressful! Started out good but went down hill.

I've done two refi's with these guys. Primary residence and vacation property. Competitive rates, low closing costs and very easy process to do everything via internet. Then final closing to sign docs was most convenient. Closer came to my work location for one and my home for second. Timely replies to all my emails - sometimes even in just a few minutes and while after hours!

A very good experience working with CDM for a refinance mortgage loan. Excellent terms and streamlined process geared to the customer.

I am writing this review more to educate those who are considering refinancing for their first time to save you time and money if you own a condo. I saw an ad for Consumer Direct and submitted an inquiry. I received an email and call immediately from [redacted] He reviewed the process and provided me with a good interest rate. I was interested to start so he asked for my credit card immediately to get an appraisal done ASAP. The appraisal cost was $445. I then proceeded to complete all the paperwork and upgraded my homeowners insurance to meet the qualifications to be granted a loan. This process required a significant amount of time with my insurance company and completing all the paperwork on top of the fact that it was during the week of Christmas, which is stressful and hectic by nature. After the appraisal and paperwork was completed, I get a call from [redacted] that my loan will not be accepted due to the fact that my homeowners association is in the middle of a lawsuit and did not have enough funds on-hand. I have no issues with either of these reasons since that is their practice and completely understand. However, they knew upfront that my home was a condo and for that reason some of their standard questions should have been to inquire if we were in a lawsuit or about the funds. [redacted] was very quick to provided me with a detailed email listing a number of items that I would need to complete therefore, I believe he could of inquired and asked about the status of my condo in the beginning to ensure I was qualified before proceeding. Transparency upfront would have been appreciated to avoid me paying $445 and my valuable time.

Working with Consumer Direct Mortgage was a snap...easy online tools, the whole 9 yards. Better yet was working Charles P. and his team! Great communication and excellent response using email, phone and text. I would recommend if seeking a mortgage, not to look any further than Consumer Direct and Charles P.!

Great company to work with, will do business again.

We just completed our refinance with consumer direct with Dean and his team and had a great experience. They were responsive to all of our questions and concerns. The whole process went smoothly as well.

We were initially nervous going with a non-local lender, but Michael H. was excellent to work with. He was always prompt to respond, clear and reasonable with paperwork requests, and flexible to accommodate our vacation when we were out of cell and internet signal. Our realtor agrees that he was very professional, and overall everything went smoothly. We have not reached the first payment date, so I can't comment on the servicing side of the business, but so far, so good. ADVICE: DO NOT CONTACT CONSUMER DIRECT THROUGH BANKRATE, TRULIA OR ANY OTHER 3rd PARTY! THEY CHARGE A FINDERS FEE. Still the lowest overall cost around when I was shopping, but it's a bummer to lose $800 because you got to the website the wrong way.

Great experience with Consumer Direct. Quick, and to the point; very professional

After other lenders were not interested in our needs. Thankfully I was given a number to call by my realtor. Fast and professional, calls returned very quick. 21 days to get into our new dream home. Very impressed. ! Consumer Direct Mortgage will be recommended to everyone I speak too!

I called Charles P., directly, after reading the reviews of this company on Revdex.com.org and saw numerous instances where people raved about him. I do not know how the refinance process goes with this company, because he helped me crunch numbers and showed me it was not in our best interest to refinance (even though this meant he would miss out on our business.)

When we move, I will definitely call him first and perhaps this company if they are anything like him!

Provided an excellent service, extremely responsive and knowledgeable. Made the process of getting a mortgage very easy.
