Atlas Moving InterEest Moving and Storage branch has surpassed *** contractual date for delivery for our household items they still have posession of.
Atlas was hired to relocate my family from *** Montana to *** Texas. Not only have they consistently lied regarding the state of our delivery, it's expected arrival date, the fact that the load would be delivered as one load and was split once we had already left the state and relocated our family. The original load was delivered within the contractual window of time but outside of the promised delivery date. Promised to arrive no later than the weekend of June 22nd. Yheninitial load arrived on June 28th with a promise to have the remaining load arriving within two weeks. The contractual obligation was for the furniture to arrive no later than July 9th. Our current promise was that it would leave today and arrive later this week. I just received an email stating that my furniture is not planned for transport yet and they are still working on it. We had to purchase a mattress frame for my son in order for him to sleep off the floor. The company has continued to email us when pressed for answers with erroneous promises. I feel that our furniture is being held hostage at this point. The ironic fact is that the $18,000.00 was paid in full by our relocation team prior to service pick up. They are in no hurry to deliver as they had cashed the check prior to ever picking up our furniture. Atlas promised all our furniture in one trip and then once we were in another state said they had split the truck and our remaining furniture would come later. The antics are apparently a common stance for this company as their recent Facebook advertisement had many of like and kind complaints. The contract only allows for cost of 50% hotel stay. As we have four children that is not a possibility for us withnor without furniture. When I have a house we are already paying rent for although we don't have our furniture in fullnit is better than occurring cost of meals forn6 people three times a day plus cost of hotel rooms. This company is bogus and has continued to mislead and lie to us regarding their service.

Desired Outcome

I want my furniture here as promised which was yesterday. I want reimbursed for the stress and strain and costs I have incurred providing newly purchased items and living without our needed household items. I am missing general items needed to function as a household. i.e vacuum, trash can, dining table, bed frame cooking items, clothing and our many shelves and other items needed to finish setting up our home. We were required to stay an additional week at a hotel due to their delay in delivery and now have been in our home without all half our belongings for three plus weeks. The lack of integrity is baffling. XXXXXX is known by his company drivers as a liar and one who consistently deceives customers to obtain work. I would like for the company to review his services to their patrons in order to attempt to better their name.

Atlas agrees it was late in making the delivery spread set up on this relocation. We were advised the customer pulled the overflow items from the Agent and made their own arrangements for the transportation and delivery of the items which were not included in the 1st truck. The overflow ( 2nd shipment ) was cancelled by the customer and they are handling this directly.

Customer Response • Aug 09, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Response should be clarified that we, the customer, did find and provide information for a resolution using another company to deliver our goods. However, Atlas did not refund the remaining balance to us and said they would pay for the finally delivery which cost $3800. This service did NOT cover my items insurability because the company chosen to complete my delivery does not offer that service. My original bill was $18,000. Half of my items were not delivered in the original load. In my opinion, l1/2 of that cost should be around $6000-9000 value. I have not received a refund nor did the new service provided unload my furniture for me as my original contract service with Atlas would have provided. So in other words in the redelviery arrangements, not only did I not receive my furniture in time, with delivery unload service, covered by insurance but I had to call and demand payment by Atlas to the other company the day my items arrived to our new location since they would not deliver until they were paid by Atlas. I have to say that was probably a good move on their part but again caused undue stress and cost of time to my family.

These arrangements were made with Interwest Moving and Storage. Their comments :
The customer arranged another company called Upack to handle the items not transported on the original trailer. Interwest advises the customer was going to fly back and load the truck, but XXXXX at Interwest offered to load it for them as a goodwill gesture. The move was already collected for in full so Interwest paid Upack from the customer's money with their own credit card and billed the difference as local charges. Per XXXXX this was done in lieu a refund going to the customer. All the paperwork for the overflow going by Upack is on completely separate paperwork and does not list Atlas at all. XXXXX advised that he told the customer that any claim on any overflow items would not be handled thru Atlas. "

The customer made the decision to remove his items from Atlas and worked with Upack to transport them. We will set up an internal General Complaint in our office to review the charges.

Shetler altered our relocation agreement after goods were in their possession and subsequently have yet to be able to deliver our vehicle.
My wife and I signed up to have Atlas take all of our property, including our car, and deliver this to us on the same truck. We opted for this all-inclusive move as it was the most efficient option and we could have all of our property in-hand after one delivery. I would like to note that the options available for relocating our vehicle were explained as follows:
1) Ship it yourself - the least expensive
2) Use a 3rd party company - more expensive
3) Use Atlas to ship with your home goods - most expensive
My wife and I, wanting to make our cross country move as painless and efficient as possible, opted to pay more and have Atlas bring all of our property in one trip. You can imagine my surprise and frustration when I received a call from Shetler Moving and Storages informing me, after they had all of my property and I was in Las Vegas, that they were unable to accommodate shipping all of our property in one trip. When I asked for an explanation as to why, I was told that *** and I did not do anything wrong but that other households brought more property than anticipated and the only solution would be to remove our vehicle from the truck and ship it via another company. This is an unacceptable alteration to the agreed upon moving terms. My wife and I did not stray from what we told Shetler Moving and Storage we would have them move. We instructed *** that we needed "X" moved and that is what was ready and waiting for Shetler Moving and Storage on June 15th. In fact, upon delivery, we were actually 1,000lbs lighter than our initial estimate because we purged unnecessary items. So, I am confused as to why my wife and I held up our end of the deal but Shetler Moving and Storage has the right to change the rules of the game so to speak and inconvenience us due to other individual's errors?
Moreover, the one and only time I was able to speak with *** regarding this matter, he instructed me that moving is "an art not an exact science". This is my second issue. ***, while walking through our home, detailed how everything would be handled like clockwork. At no time during our in-home estimate with ***, or our subsequent communication with his staff (as he has yet to communicate directly with us since this initial conversation), were we told that moving "is an art not an exact science". It is extremely unacceptable that after all of my property is out of my hands, and my wife and I are 1800+ miles away, that we are told plans have changed. I am in no condition to monitor what is being done with my property or who is handling it after the fact.
Whenever I spoke with *** or *** I was assured that my vehicle was slated to be delivered in the appropriate time window. However, after requests going unattended to, I took it upon myself to contact *** directly to see WHERE my car was. You can imagine my surprise after speaking with a lady named *** and *** on 06/28/2018, I find out that my vehicle was still in a storage facility in *** IN (the city my wife and I moved from). *** specified that my vehicle had been in this storage facility since it was picked up from Shetler Moving and Storage. My initial question is, how can *** and *** continually inform me my vehicle is on schedule to be delivered by its 06/30/2018 window if it has never left the city of origin? I have 2 thoughts on what has happened:
1) My car is lost. No one with Shetler Moving and Storage, the company who physically took my vehicle, has the ability to tell me where my vehicle is located. Not to mention when I investigate I'm given multiple states it may be in.
2) Shetler Moving and Storage and *** knew my car had not left *** IN but did not want to inform me due to my frustration and questioning of how my move had been handled up to this point.

Desired Outcome

I would like the company to be responsible for my vehicle transport invoice. Not only is my vehicle not in my possession, the delivery date has been adjusted 4 times. The only response I've received on this matter is the option to receive a $200 "inconvenience fee" for my troubles. This whole chaotic situation was attempted by Shetler Moving and Storage to be spun as a "savings" to *** and I because we would have had to pay more for the vehicle if it were delivered with our home goods compared to 3rd party transport. This inconsiderate email attempt to sweep a miscalculation and error under the rug is completely unacceptable. How much money have I lost having to manage and follow up on this matter? I've had to take time away from my new job to field phone calls and get to the bottom of this whole ordeal. Is that not why I signed up initially with Shetler Moving and Storage and subsequently paid for, to manage my move for me? I've lived up to my end of the deal that I struck with Shetler Moving and Storage. Why am I liable for any invoice due on my vehicle being delivered to me? This whole situation has been a cluster that Shetler Moving and Storage started. And, very similar to how my home goods were delivered, if I don't pay the amount requested upon delivery, my vehicle will remain on the transport truck. This is unacceptable. Shetler Moving and Storage is responsible for this transport invoice not my wife and I. The deceitful manner in which our move had to be altered, the lack of knowledge of where my vehicle is, and overall lack of consideration, management and admittance of error should be evidence enough.

At the time this consumer filed the Revdex.com complaint the information provided is partially correct. The automobile had not delivered. The consumer's relocation was handled directly by Shetler Moving and storage.

I did discuss with their agency whom outlined they did offer Ms. a rental car at first which was declined, but then eventually agreed upon and arranged. Since such time the automobile delivered on 7/10/2018

We apologize that our respond is dated after delivery. We find this matter has been resolved.

Atlas Van Lines moved our furniture and 1999 SL 500 Mercedes Benz from Indiana to Arizona. The vehicles grill is missing.
My name is ***. We contracted Shetler moving, Atlas Van Lines to move our furniture and vehicle from *** In. to *** Az. on March 27th 2018. We had some damage to our furniture but Atlas took care of it. Upon delivery of my 1999 SL500 Mercedes Benz I noticed the grill missing and the front of the car was scratched badly. I was told to get an estimate from a Mercedes dealer which I did and submit it to them. I received an email this morning saying that it was rejected because it was not submitted in 3 days. They said I had insurance but never showed me the policy. I paid $12, 490.01 for the move. My claim # with Atlas is XX-XXXXXXX. The car was perfect. a show car, now it is a mess.
Thank You

Desired Outcome

I just want my car repaired.

The automobile is now in the shop being repaired. I have been in contact with ***. We are getting the car fixed so we can conclude his claim.

There is missing and damaged property that they do not want to reimburse us for.
I took a new job in Florida and my company set up my move. After I started working my wife was going back and forth trying to sell the house, pack things and went to a doctors appointment and found she had cancer for the second time in a year. She had to have a port put in and had 2 chemos when she drove back to Georgia to meet the movers (also dealing with 2 hurricanes) and was sick. The man driving the truck was very nice and told her she could just go rest. She was told all she had to do was a walk through of the house to make sure everything was out and to check the truck to make sure nothing was left on it as well as be there the entire time. One day she had to ask a friend to stay at the house when she had some appointments but was sick the majority of the time and spent several hours in the bathroom during packing and unpacking. I got home in time to check the truck and the driver, my wife and myself sat down at the table and he handed her the papers for the move which she had never seen before and had her sign each page twice which she did not understanding that it was for the loading and unloading and that it meant we received all of the boxes. We sent pictures of the broken items and they said we didn't have any proof of the missing items so we sent them pictures and affidavits from family and friends proving we had the items. Their response was they will pay for the broken items but not the missing ones since the papers were signed and never addressed the fact that my wife was not told she needed to sign in each box, was extremely sick and just did what the driver told her to do with out question. They are all taking advantage of our situation.
We have pictures, a list of the missing and signed statements of what we have missing.
Mikasa Jamestown Gold 6 brandy, 2 tall champ., 2 candle sticks. 7 waterford lismore goblets. Antique (heirloom)Fostoria Navarre Clear 1 creamer, 8 water goblets, 9 ice tea, 6 juice, 7 champ., 11 large claret, 10 5 1/2 wine, 12 coffee cups, 10 saucers, 3 9 1/2 dinner plates, 8 8 1/2 luncheon plates, 7 6 inch bread & butter, 1 signed numbered limited edition framed print "Watchers in the night", coffee mugs, plain glasses, cut glass juice glasses, cut glass water glasses, crystal hand holding a crystal globe. List of broken crystal vase, 3 platters, porcelain statue, soldier statue, bookcase, furniture scraped, other things. Broken 300 cd player, broken dvd recorder/player. Items total $7000.00.
We tried to work with them and believe they are taking advantage of our situation. The fostoria is a family heirloom and we have been adding to it for over 40 years. The picture hung in our sons room growing up.

Desired Outcome

We are seeking damages for the amount of what it would cost to replace the missing and damaged items only.

Atlas World Group Response • Apr 19, 2018

Customer submitted a claim for loss and damage. A trace was initiated for the claimed missing items and our results were negative.

A settlement offer for the damaged items has been made to the customer but the claimed missing items were denied as review of the signed delivery paperwork does not show exception to items missing.

Customer Response • Apr 25, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
As we originally told Atlas when they offered us a settlement for only the broken items (which was just under $700) that amount was unacceptable considering the almost $6000 of missing items we identified. My wife was so sick from the chemo during the move she did not check in or out any of the boxes, nor was she ever told that was something she needed to do, we only learned that when we were told they would not pay us for our missing items. My wife was told by the driver not to worry about anything when he showed up and that she could go lay down. After the truck was emptied it was at that point that the driver brought the papers to be signed. That was the first time we saw the papers. I was unable to be present for the loading and unloading as I was at my new job (which is the reason for the move in the first place). I showed up to the house in enough time to see that the truck was empty and see the driver walk to the truck and come back with a clipboard with papers on it. He asked my wife and I which one of us was going to sign them. I said that my wife could. We sat down at the dinning room table and that was the first time either one of us had ever seen said paperwork. The driver then directed my wife to sign twice on each page, the first line was for loading at the previous house and the second was for the unloading at the current house. I repeat my wife was never given any paperwork when the truck was being loaded at the departure location. Later after finishing all of the unpacking my wife found that our cd player and dvd recorder were broken and could not add them because they had closed the case. Those items totaled an additional $800. We were seriously mislead in the process and were told we could not be paid because we had signed off on the delivery and they never dealt with the facts of how we were treated nor did they deal with how we had never been given any instructions on checking the boxes and furniture in and out. Or not receiving any paperwork. I believe We have been taken advantage of because of my wife's illness. Another issue we presented to Atlas was the fact that the inventory pages are numbered but not totaled. Meaning we have no idea of how many pages that there were originally. We have 18 pages, but there were no total number of pages anywhere on paperwork it was left blank. As a person who works with inventories everyday and I understand page numbering. By not having the pages number properly ie. 1 of 18, 2 of 18, etc. that leaves a question as to whether or not we received all the pages. Any missing pages could have included our items that are missing. By numbering in the proper manner there would be no question as to the correct number of pages. As that was not the way they were numbered we have no idea to definitively know how many pages there actually were. We did not refuse the money just the amount they offered considering how much crystal was missing and the fact that it is heirloom and my wife has had it for 40 plus years, it's very important and painful to her for it to be missing.

Attention ***

Our office has received this consumer's rebuttal dated 4/25/2018. We have re-reviewd our file in it's entirety and find we must rely upon the records, and documentation available to us in making our decision. While we acknowledge it is very difficutl to remain unaffected in situations such as this, we find no change in the position previously taken in our letter dated 1/29/2018 and therefore are unable to offer compensation.

Review of our records indicate that this shipment loaded in Georgia on 9/20/2017 and delivered the very next day in Florida on 9/21/2017. The origin and destination locations are 265 miles apart. Mrs. did sign and date both the origin and destination sides of the household goods inventory. This shipment was the only shipment on the trailer.

The delivery documenation indicates nothing was noted as missing upon delivery and Mrs. signed the customer check off sheet acknowledging that the right to cehck off she shipment had been waived and that all items loaded have been received and obvious loss or damage has been noted.

Based on this information we are unable to offer further compensation. We have uploaded the household good invenotry and check off sheet into the Revdex.com site, as well as a copy of our original settlement offer letter to this consumer

Thank you for your patience while this claim was being reviewed.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The delivery documents show the numbers that are marked on the large items and the boxes. The delivery documentation does not show each individual item inside each box. Does Atlas expect it's movers to wait until the customer unpacks dozens of boxes to make sure every item is in it. If so then the movers should have waited. And although we didn't mark the items missing on the delivery documentation as we hadn't yet unpacked the dozens of boxes, and the delivery documents only allow to list entire boxes as missing, not specific items, we did contact our representative at *** (who is the broker my husband's company used, and who contracted Atlas as well as the individuals who packed our boxes), within a few hours of the items being delivered, and we sent her an email detailing the missing items as well as photos of the poorly packed boxes. She then redirected us to Atlas' complaint department where we filed a formal complaint. So we did immediately report the items missing. We do not accept Atlas's response and we request a full refund of the missing/stolen items, for a total of $1250.

Atlas World Group Response • Feb 19, 2018

Our position in this matter has not changed from our original settlement offer dated 10/30/2017. If the consumer feels these items were stolen, they would need to proceed in filling a police report as a theft matter as this is not related to a loss and damage during transport.

As another means of settlement resolution, we have enclosed a pamphlet on the "Dispute Settlement Program" offered through the American Moving and Storage Association, Inc. (www.moving.org).

The complaint regards unprofessionalism, poor communication, and gross negligence resulting in damaged property and lost household goods.
This regards XXXXXXXX, a move from Illinois to Iowa that occurred at the end of August. The original load date was August 28th. Final loading was not completed until August 29th, when the owner had to send a proxy. Delivery was two days later. Atlas Van Lines used the agent *** to complete the move. The relocation specialist for *** was based out of their *** WI office. The packers and movers in Illinois plus the driver, *** were out of the Bloomington office. The movers in Iowa were out of the Des Moines office. The owners paid 110% at time of delivery due to a huge increase from estimate. The bill has been paid in full at this time.
The following details evidence for the unprofessionalism, negligence, and faulty communication with which Atlas does business.
1) The owners were never sent a packet with important information about the move and have therefore only serendipitously found out important information about claims and policies.
2) Though all items were shown to the estimator on walk-through, the charges were much greater than 110% of estimate, likely due to packers putting significant amounts of unwanted materials from stated "safe zones" in the house into boxes and movers doing the same.
3) Dates for the move were entered wrong into the computer on multiple occasions, causing last minute changes to the schedule. The relocation specialist failed to communicate the time of arrival for the van at destination and origin.
4) Packers independently contacted their bosses about certain items they "would not move" which then started third party contracts that were not followed through with due to union restrictions (safe movers) and others that were followed through with though owners did not consent (crating a piece of burned corian).
5) The packers who were sent were actually van drivers and were extraordinarily unprofessional in how they dealt with the customer and how they dealt with our items, failing to wrap items that needed to be wrapped, calling the stuff they were packing "***", packing boxes over the weight limit for lifting, packing heavy items on top of light weight or breakable items, failing to pack up items from the garage saying it was the movers responsibility.
6) Damage was sustained to both the origin and destination home due to carelessness and laziness of movers (failure to protect flooring, failure to lift objects over raised portions of the houses).
7) The van driver did not have electronic scanner to verify delivery of all items; therefore a very expensive piece of equipment that was boxed up is missing. Traces by Atlas as well as a brief police investigation failed to locate the presumed stolen item.
8) Movers were unprofessional at every turn, asking for owners to buy them lunch, provide them water as well as being haphazard in how they handled items.
9) Continued communication with Atlas after the move has been nearly impossible to conduct. Phones are not answered. Emails have insufficient information. Letters are filled with typos that simple spell check would correct.

Desired Outcome

I am issuing a Revdex.com complaint in part to warn others about working with Atlas Van Lines for their interstate moves. Every possible thing that could wrong on a move went wrong due to the company's unprofessionalism and negligence. This includes damaged household goods, missing household goods, damaged origin house, damaged destination house, incorrect communication, inappropriate third party mover involvement, and overcharge on the move due to packer incompetence, unprofessionalism, and poor communication. As yet, Atlas has only agreed to pay for damaged items. They denied an overcharge claim. They denied responsibility for two missing items. One item is worth $2035.00, was in an owner packed box (its original box), and could not have its arrival verified electronically, because the driver did not have his electronic scanner. The owners gave benefit of doubt that the item had been put somewhere in the destination house that was hard to locate or had been left at the origin house. Once the item was definitively not in either location, it was reported missing. The other missing item is the original hurricane for an oil lamp that was verified missing only after all the boxes labeled China cabinet were unpacked. The item was reported missing at that time. I am seeking Atlas to act in a professional manner and claim financial responsibility for items lost in their custody.

Dear ***,

Thank you for choosing Atlas as your relocation specialist. The correspondence you recently submitted has been reviewed and we have reached the following conclusion. Our records indicate your relocation was released to Atlas Van Lines, Inc. under a Non-Binding estimate.

Under the terms of a non-binding estimate the transportation charges for a relocation are based on actual weight and services. If the final weight or services exceed the estimated amount, Atlas is obligated to collect a minimum of 110% of the estimated charges prior to executing delivery of the household goods. The balance owed would be due and payable after 30 days from delivery has elapsed. Since you selected non-binding terms for your relocation, we are obligated to assess the full transportation charge due for your relocation.

In reviewing your concerns, we do find the transportation charges higher based on several factors. The estimated weight of the relocaiton was 14,850 lbs. versus the actual weight of 16,460 lbs. and incread of 1,610 lbs. We have enclosed the certified weight scale tickets for your records.

Along with the increase in weight, we found there was addtional items packed by the carrier, compared to the estimate, the breakdown is below:

Carton Size
Estimated

Actual

144 ctns

Difference +/-

+64 ctns

Other Carton 0 1 +1

The estimated packing charges were $1,311.03, versus the actual packing chages of $2,901.95, an increase of $1,590.92.

On behalf of Atlas and our agents, I would like to apologize for any misunderstanding that may have occurred in regard to the terms of a non-binding relocation. Every effort is made to ensure that the estimate provided is as accurate as possible prior to providing a quote on the move. It is unfortunate that we were not able to provide a better estimate for your relocation.

Based on this information we do find the transportation charges assessed on your relocation totalling $9,610.20

is correct. Our records indicate the original amount collected on 8/31/2017 was $9,163.47, this left a balance due of $446.73 which our records indicate was most recently collected on 12/19/2017.

We have enclosed copies of your estimate, weight tickets and actual charges for your records. Thank you for your patience durin our review.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not accept the response from Atlas Van Lines. The response fails to address the primary concerns in the complaint, further demonstrating our immense concerns with the quality and professionalism of communication and service from Atlas Van Lines. The complaint concerned the overcharge claim as only one component of the extensive overall concerns with Atlas Van Lines. The move cost has been paid in full and the limits of a non-binding estimate understood fully. As written previously, the resolution desired is as follows: "I am seeking Atlas to act in a professional manner and claim financial responsibility for items lost in their custody." Therefore I ask that Atlas provide a response that addresses the desired resolution.

Again, a very expensive item was lost while in Atlas' custody and presumed stolen. The reasons for the timeline of communication regarding the stolen item have been clearly articulated and are related to the failures in communication that have characterized our entire dealings with Atlas. The driver did not have a electronic scanner to verify that all items were delivered in an objective manner. Our relocation specialist said that all claims would need to be submitted after the bill was paid in full and we had not paid in full at time of delivery. The loading of items was completed with a proxy because a third party company was called to move a safe from the basement. That third party failed to come through on their contract, which was not communicated to us until after the scheduled loading day had finished. Therefore the driver came back with his movers to get the safe, but the owner had already scheduled to be en route to the destination house on the day this occurred. Therefore the missing item was reported as soon as we had the chance to go back to the origin house and check thoroughly. We, as customers and trusting human beings, gave the benefit of the doubt to Atlas that the item was misplaced somewhere in one of the houses. We gave that benefit of the doubt until we had checked thoroughly and had not found the item. In addition to the expensive item that went missing, the original hurricane from an oil lamp was also missing. This was reported when we had opened and thoroughly checked all boxes labeled china cabinet, again giving benefit of the doubt that the item was misplaced by us. It is very clear at this point that the items were maliciously misplaced while in Atlas's custody and that Atlas' failure to take responsibility is evidence of a systemic problem in their business' professionalism. Finally, the attached response letter to the FMCSA further demonstrates Atlas' failure to take responsibility, communicate effectively, and be professional.

This customer has recently filed Arbitration through AMSA-
American Moving & Storage Association.
***
***, VA XXXXX-XXXX

As of our response to AMSA on 1/16/2018, Atlas has agreed to Arbitrate the matter.

Therefore our office is awaiting the information from the American Moving and storage association. The claim in question will be handled, finalized in this matter.

Once Atlas receives the Arbitration packet, we will submit the carrier's response directly to AMSA. We feel no further communications or updates are needed through the Revdex.com site.

We recently moved from TX to MA and relo company assigned Atlas as the movers. This has been by far the worst experience we've ever been through and have relocated several times including an International move. From day 1, when the driver who was in charge of the crew did not show up, everything was a nightmare our things were poorly packed and the crew was a mess, actually, one of the movers left on day 3 because I caught him throwing some of my things to the trash and taking others. The delivery day arrived and we sat outside for 8 hours marking off the "bingo" inventory sheet. Many boxes missing including a crated item which never arrived. Filed the lengthy claim but Atlas did not acknowledge 90% of the missing items, their copy had all the boxes checked off and when we submitted our copy, the excuse was that since it's carbon paper(keep in mind they provide the form and customers copy in carbon paper) chances were the check marks had not transferred properly! To me, chances are they were marked off by someone after the delivery. Paperwork was not signed by us reading all items received but they decided to ignore this. Extremely frustrating. There are emails from day 1 stating all the missing boxes, pictures of the poor packaging, etc but they just ignore this. BEWARE of this company, we had used them in the past and had never filed a claim so had no issues but clearly when issues arise they are no help. I suggest that if you are unlucky enough to use their services, take a picture of the original documents before the delivery crew leaves your home as you never know what happens after, also don't bother paying full insurance as we had this and it makes no difference. I will definitely be taking this to court as I have appealed my claim and there is no sign of willingness on their part, they want to pay $1340 for over $10,000 in missing/damaged items.

Atlas World Group Response • Jan 26, 2018

Atlas Van Lines did move a shipment for Mr. & Mrs. A from *** TX to *** MA. The delivery date of the shipment was 8/29/17. The claim for loss and damage was filed with the Atlas Van Lines on 10/19/17. At the time of the delivery of the shipment, the customer check off was completed, and the only inventory number that was unaccounted for was #148. Although there was only 1 items unaccounted for at the time of the delivery, a complete trace was initiated with the crews involved with the move on both the Texas and Massachusetts end. All parties reported their trace efforts to be negative.

Atlas made an attempt to resolve the claim, acknowledging the items that had been damaged, as well as the claim for carton 148.00. All remaining missing items were denied as there is nothing to support that they were lost while in the care of Atlas. The delivery paperwork copies were forwarded to the A's. They also produced the copies that were given to them at the time of the delivery which are a carbon, which requires writing through 3 pages. We have explained that the likely explanation of why their copies were not completely check off may be a result of not pressing hard enough on the copies. They have dismissed this explanation, indicating that there was deception, or falsifying of the paperwork. Atlas completely denies this allegation.

Further, the fact that a crew member was throwing things away, in this complaint is the first time that our office has been advised of this. While it is true that the van operator was not on site on the first day, he was in contact with Mrs. A.

The Atlas Van Lines agent paid the customer 150.00 goodwill gesture for any reported missing items, however when the claim was filed, it was much greater than the amount mentioned..

Atlas feels that we have been more than fair in our assessment of this claim, and do not feel that there are any concessions that can be made.

Customer Response • Jan 29, 2018

Obviously, did not expect Atlas Van Lines to have their record straight with their reply. Have documentation that the $150 "goodwill" gift card given by *** (Atlas partner in TX) was because movers used my own uline boxes to ship and pack, there are pictures of this which were sent to ***'s and that is the reason of the "goodwill". They also used them as tops for bins so that they could stack them; my last invoice from uline, which I sent them was for over $300 so yes, they actually gave me a giftcard for half of the amount, again, my loss. There is documentation from early September listing all missing items which match exactly the filed claim so clearly the $150 were not for any reported missing items.
The driver did not show up and the office in TX was not aware of this, the only reason the driver contacted us was because I asked one of the crew members to contact him as it was all a mess, all this was informed to Atlas and again, have documentation for this.
About the crew member throwing away things, Atlas can check their employee record and will see one of the crew members was removed early in the 3rd day of the move and never returned for this same reason.
Now, the explanation as of "why their copies were not completely check off may be a result of not pressing hard enough on the copies" is just unbelievable, wish I could add pictures to this review as the paperwork shows that the boxes that were checked by us is an x or a checkmark but the ones "mysteriously" checked as received and missing are fully colored in, so they argue a checkmark goes through carbon paper but not a fully colored mark? Ha! again, Buyer Beware!
4 items were crated and only 3 arrived, 3rd party crew of uncraters even checked the moving truck as they couldn't believe their eyes that a big crated item had just vanished, again, Atlas completely ignores this fact.

Atlas World Group Response • Jan 31, 2018

Again, Atlas can only apologize that Ms. A does not agree with our assessment of the claim. Atlas claim decision was made on the paperwork that was signed a the time of the delivery of the shipment. Atlas does have the original paperwork in our file, and we cannot confirm that the items claimed were missing at the time of the delivery.

Our offer to resolve the claim has been sent to the customer, and at this time, Atlas does not feel that any additional concessions are necessary.

Avoid Atlas.

I contacted Atlas for a cross-country move based on information from AAA. One of the worst decisions of my life.

All the way up to the day of the move, everything seemed great. It went straight downhill from there.

The movers arrived hours late in order to unnecessarily shuttle my possessions using a second truck. The driver purports to have been unable to park the full-length truck in front of my building. I never saw him drive by, and there was only one car parked on the entire block. He had plenty of space.

They clearly had no idea how to properly pack. Not only did the movers open sealed boxes to add items and, then, use my tape to reseal it, they packed boxes inside of furniture that was clearly incapable of holding the mass during the move. They damaged my custom-upholstered sofa attempting to get it out the door, and ended up giving up and leaving it.

After rescheduling the delivery for no apparently good reason, I watched the movers throw my possessions around and roll wardrobe boxes end-over-end. In the middle of moving the items in, they stopped to drop the trailer so that the driver could go to the DMV. He refused to say why, but the office here is open late enough on Saturdays that he could have gone afterwards.

While he was gone, the whiny helper spent more time smoking and pulling up his sagging sweatpants than actually moving my stuff. He was constantly asking where things went, when it was clearly marked on the box.

The movers refused the charge me correctly or let me examine my possessions before they left. They left some horrendous damage at both the origin and destination. When all was said and done, I had more in loss and damage claims than the cost of the move. I had thousands of dollars in property damage alone. Atlas immediately denied or did not act on the claims. I ended up having to go through my credit card and AAA to get their attention on the matter.

After over ten months, I finally agreed to take less than I was due just to close the matter. I was lucky to have AAA on my side, but no one should have to go through all of this effort.

If you like slow and damaged, these are your guys. They will fight you tooth and nail on even the most obvious damage. I suggest going with another mover.

I used ATLAS Van Lines to move me from AZ to CA. They did just that but in the process caused damage to my belongings that far exceeded the cost of the move. They have paid for the damages to my belongs but in the process of moving me, they also damaged the door to the house I currently rent. Not only moving furniture in but also from removing the damaged items. They said via email communication their vendor, they hired would address the door but only response I got was they will do nothing. I have attempted to contact ATLAS Van Lines to resolve the issue but seems I'm being ignored. Damage was cause in August & it is now November with still nothing.I have emails from ATLAS stating that the damage release claims I signed were for my personal belongings, not the damage to the place of residence yet now I'm nonexistent.

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) Would like ATLAS or the agent/contractor (***) follow through with what they promised by fixing the damages to the door of my residence in the process of doing a service they were hired to do.

Atlas World Group Response

The physical damage claim to the home does not belong to the customer. It is a rental property in which case the repair must be done thru the owner of the property. Mr B has been notified of this and we are currently trying to work thru this with the customer.

WE HAD SEVERAL ITEMS STOLEN FROM US ON MOVING FROM MICH TO MD 10/13/17
WE HAVE EVERY SUSPICION THAT ONE/MORE OF THE WORKERS PERPETRATED IT;
We were moving from Mi to Md Oct 13, 2017; DMS agent for Atlas came to our home about 10:30 am with four men: *** later a fifth one came. Two of the men went upstairs one half hour later to start packing items in our bedroom. in the mean time *** said he was going to return to ***,MI(about 4 hour RT)to get a larger truck. he came back about 4hs. later with the same truck.I & our daughter *** went up stairs to see what was going on;I observed that my costume jewelry which I had packed in a portable duffel bag was upside down on the floor. The drawers of the dresser were all emptied out and the top cleared. I said to one the workers" where is every thing that was in the dresser?" He said we packed that already. I said where did you pack it? He pointed to a box on the floor. I said open it; which he did. I proceeded to go through the packing paper and discovered the jewelry box with my expensive items was empty except for some silver pieces. I let out a screech and shouted "my jewelry is missing"; with that the two who had been in the room walked out and down the hall. Then my husband *** came up stairs to see what was the matter. I told him what had happened; he was shocked.

In the meantime, *** the driver had left our home with the truck, supposedly to get a larger truck. We believe, by then, the thieves had hidden my treasures in the truck that *** had driven away in.
*** then arrived back at our home about 4 hours later in the same truck.

We then called the *** county sheriff to tell them what happened. about one hour later deputy *** showed up. We proceeded to tell him what had happened as well. He had three of them(I'm not sure what their names were) empty their pockets; well of course nothing was found. Deputy *** took the trio out side; had them take their shoes off and stockingsLuckily I had pictures of the jewelry & deputy *** took pictures with his cell phone. Subsequently we called Atlas to report the incident; they said we had to provide police report and updated value of the jewelry; which we did; emailed both; waited for response; Atlas called us saying our claim was denied. Reason insufficient evidence; they did not believe me.

I want to be compensated for my loss in the amount $27,677.00 (estimate made by *** MI) also we are asking for $50,000.00 to cover my emotional stress.

Desired Outcome

WE ARE SEEKING THE TOTAL MONETARY AMOUNT OF THE VALUE OF THE STOLEN JEWELRY AND THE VALUE OF THE EMOTIONAL STRESS; NAMELY: 27,677 PLUS 50,000 = 77,677

Atlas World Group Response

Atlas takes theft allegations seriously, but has found no confirmed evidence of responsibility for this loss. The police report provided does not show fault of those involved and does not substantiate responsibility thru the investigation.

Movers/Atlas Van Lines provided written estimate for packing and move on August 30th, 2017 & did not perform as promised. + is charging 26%more
Atlas Van Lines/*** Movers Agents provided quote on August 30th 2017 for $5917.52 for packing of contents of house and moving those items from *** FL to New *** CT. on 10/9/17
1 On 10/7 packers arrived around 8:30 and at 2:30 stopped and said that they could not finish the job because they did not have anymore boxes and the *** office was closed since it was Saturday.
2. The packers left and never returned to complete the job
3. On Sunday 10/8 I completed the packing of approximately 30 boxes (large boxes 1/2 size of tall linen boxes) with the assistance fo 2 friends.
4. On Monday 10/9 movers came and picked up furniture and also did the remaining packing of a few glass table tops. that I was unable to pack myself
5. I never received another invoice, after the August 30th invoice which indicated my total fee of $5917.52 (with a cap of $6509.28 +10% as per Federal regulation S375.405.
6. The Day before my scheduled delivery Oct. 18th, I received a Hello Sign document from Atlas Van Lines agent, *** Movers demanding an additional $1952.22 (a 33% increase over the fee quoted) with no explanation, no attached itemized invoice. Only a simple Pay this amount $7869,74. Bear in mind that *** Movers did not even provide ALL the services indicated in the Order for Service, as I had requested that they pack the contents of the house.
7. I called *** Movers and tried to speak to *** who had issued the quote. He would not speak to me. I told the Spirit Representative that the increase amounted to a 33% increase & yet I had made no changes in my request (with the exception of 2 tables - a coffee table and a small sofa table) AND that *** left me with 30 boxes to pack since they ran out of boxes on Saturday and would not pack in my boxes. So in essence they were charging me 33% more for LESS Service
8. She lowered the increase to $1529.48 - a 26% increase for essentially Less Service. I had not choice but to sign in order to get my furniture delivered the next day as I was scheduled to move into my rental the following day.
9. The Atlas Van Line truck arrived and the driver tells me that he could not deliver my furniture because there were some low hanging wires - at BOTH entrances to the community where my rental was located & that his HUGE truck could not make it under the wires.
10. My furnishings had not required that size truck, but Atlas had moved numerous homes, along with mine, and therefore they needed that size truck to accommodate ALL of those homes; & so I was told that I would have to pay AN ADDITIONAL $800.00 TO $1000.00 to move my furnishings out from the Atlas truck into another truck so that they could move my furniture into the rental home
11. I was devastated as I had NO MORE MONEY in my budget for the move. They had already charged me 26% -$1529.48 more for providing me with less services than I had requested and I had no more money to pay the additional fee.
12. I was forced to quickly find a storage facility at 8:30 a.m. and I had to pay the highest price in the area because a. The only storage facility opened at that time of the morning was a large facility which charged top prices & 2, The facility had just rented out their last large unit, so I had to pay for 2 units rather than one and the monthly rental totaled $351.90.
13. I had to cancel my rental agreement for the unfurnished home as I did not have my furniture and could not afford to have it delivered to that house, at a later date, on top of the monthly rental fees &
14 All of my belongings including my winter clothes were in a storage facility and I could not access my cloths because the boxes were hemmed in by my furniture.
15 As I mentioned I am a retired widow and could not even fathom moving the furniture to get to my belongings

Atlas Van Lines/*** Movers did not comply with the FR S375.405 10% cap noted on The Service Order & there should be a billing adjustment for damages & overcharge.

Desired Outcome

The fair resolution would be for Atlas Van Lines to honor its agents' quote of $5917.52 since they did not even provide all the services I had requested and left me to finish packing 30 boxes myself before the movers were to arrive the next day; & to compensate me for at least the cost of the 3 months I have had to have ALL of my belongings in storage, which I can not access. My monthly storage bill is $351.90. X3=$1055.70 I would like to note that I am presently sleeping on the floor, on a blow up bed, since my bed is in storage, and it is causing me some major health issues as well. I mentioned that I a Senior. I never expected such callous treatment by either company. their employees were so polite and pleasant; yet they DID NOT deliver as promised. TELL ME WHAT IS THE POINT OF OBTAINING A QUOTE if the company does not abide by it; nor do they comply with the Federal regulation which caps the fee at 10% above the quote?

Although Atlas replied. All THEY SAID WAS WE WILL LOOK INTO THIS. They provided NO resolution & No further contact. I responded to their letter with documentation AND a copy of the Federal Regulation, allowing only a 10% increase over the quote, unless a subsequent quote is provided (WHICH WAS NOT DONE). CASE SHOULD NOT BE CLOSED AS IT IS NOT RESOLVED AND ATLAS has made NO attempt to resolve the issue other than their simple acknowledgement of complaint. PLEASE REOPEN.

Attention ***

Our office has received and reviwed the consumers complaint on this relocaiton, below is our response.

Ms. shipment was released to Atlas Van Lines, Inc. as a standard Non-Binding estimate.

The orignal estimate provided totalled $5,917.51 with a 63 % BLD- Bottom line discount. A amendment to that estimate was completed, raising the discount to 65% and a secondary estimate signed and secured on 10/7/2017 lowered the total to $5,597.65.

Regarding any packing our records reflect the packing charges were based on the packing reorts that the consumer signed at the time the carrier provided the services. Packing was provided by both the origin agent, whom came out only to specifically pack, as well as the hauler finished any services needed at the time of loading the shipment in Florida.

Packing charges were $373.24 higher than estimated , however this is also partially due to the actual weight of the shipment being 1,412 lbs. more than estimated.

Because of the necessity of a destination shuttle, the customer had the option to have the shipment delivered to her home, instead she choose to have the shipment to a self storage unit, thus our office did not charge any addtional for this service.

The consumer did stop payment on her credit card for all the transportation charges on 11/6/2017. Our credit and collections department received notifice of this from American Express and on 11/29/2017 the dispute was closed in the carrier's (Atlas') favor. Our office has also already responded to a D.O.T comlaint filed by the consumer as well.

Based on our review, we do find the transportation charges are correct as assessed. We have enclosed copies of the estimate, amendment, packing report, weight tickets and actual charges for your records.

Thank you for your patience during our review.

Sincerely,

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The Shipper response does not address their NON COMPLIANCE WITH Federal Regulation 68 FR 3509 S375.405 in particular Sections (b)(2)(3) & (8). ALL attached. I relied on the non binding estimate WHICH CLEARLY STATED: "AT THE TIME OF DELIVERY, YOU MAY NOT BE REQUIRED TO PAY MORE THAN 110%OF THE NON -BINDING TOTAL CHARGES..(except for additional services). There were NO additional services provided. So bill should not have exceeded $6509.28 . Also Atlas failed to respond to their non compliance as to: (b) (2) &(3) NO one provided me with any explanation as to final charges & (8) there was NEVER a New Non Binding Estimate executed to notify me that there would be additional charges. I do not know what amendment they are referring to, but I never signed an New Non Binding Estimate. See regulations as attached.

Atlas World Group Response

Our office has received the consumers response dated 2/8/2018. When the agent, *** presented the actual charges to the consumer to be collected via credit card totaling $7,444.47, she did not dispute the charges at that time and agreed to and signed the credit card authorization form via E Signature. The charges were collected on 10/18/2017

This consumer has already tried to dispute the charges through American Express in November of 2017 in which initially American Express charged Atlas back the entire transportation charges until their review was completed.

American Express ruled in favor of the merchant and not the consumer and did release the charges to us as the carrier.

The $5,597.65 mentioned in the latest response, was the amended estimate provided by *** Movers. When the consumer was upset over packing, the booking agent agreed to provide a better discount and reduced her charges already before he shipment loaded by $319.86

The original estimate provided was $5,917.51
Our office still maintains that the consumers' charges are correct as assessed and collected.

We are unable to offer any further refunds.

As previously outlined this consumer filed a
FMSCA-Federal Motor Carrier Administration complaint that our office has also already responded to

This is our final position in this matter.

Multiple damaged and missing valuables.
We hired Atlas to move our belongings from *** to ***. When we began unpacking boxes, we immediately noticed a number of damaged itemslamps, figurines, wall art, crystal, china, etc.
Per their instructions, we meticulously documented each damaged item with photos.
Worse, we discovered that my father's WWII memorabilia (he was a vet) was not in the box we expected. We then unpacked every box only to find that the memorabilia was nowhere to be found. This included a german pistol, a British pistol, and an SS dagger my father had taken from a German soldier. The monetary value on these items is over $5,000, but they are irreplaceable family mementos.
We contacted Atlas about this within 3 days and were told to document it. We texted the crew chief. We spoke to the claim consultant. They encouraged us to include the items in our damages claim.
Months later, we received a settlement offer of $54 total. They denied any responsibility for the missing memorabilia.
At this point, our only option is to file a police report and contact an attorney, which we plan to do. We are not suspicious people by nature, but it seems evident that someone involved in packing up our belongings noticed the value of these items and decided to steal them. Atlas should be responsible for this.
The move overall was a disasterpoorly organized and not carefully executed. We have lost literally thousands of dollars of valuable items due to the company's negligence.
The ideal outcome would be for them to locate the missing items and return them to us. Barring that, we are seeking a refund on the charges related to the move.

Desired Outcome

Ideally, I would like to have my father's memorabilia returned to me. That seems unlikely at this point. Given the value of these items and the fact that they have enormous sentimental value to our family, our next best option would be a refund of the charges related to the move.

Atlas World Group Response

We have been in contact with the customer and are in further review of this complaint at this time.

Atlas provided disappointing moving services which included delivering 5 days late & then holding our furniture hostage until we paid for a shuttle.
On July 27, 2017 we entrusted all of our household goods to Atlas Van Lines. Our Atlas Registration Number is XXXXXXXX.
In advance of our move, the only paperwork we were given by the Saleperson, *** at *** was a Standard Estimate which estimated the weight of our goods as 11, 505 pounds at a price of $11, 314.21. Our shipment actually weighed less and we were charged and paid in full $11, 251.56 while our goods were in transit. At no point did anyone tell us or give us anything in writing stating that there was any possibility of and additional charges! Our shipment wound up finally being delivered on August 14, 2017 which was 5 days past the window of dates we had been given as the delivery date. We were disappointed and inconvenienced by this but were glad that our goods were finally here. Unfortunately the first words out of the Atlas driver's mouth were that he wasn't going to drive his truck up our road and into our driveway! He had already driven into the neighborhood on the paved roads we have throughout so this made no sense to us. Without explaining to us what they were doing, the driver and his crew left the moving truck on the street and proceeded to go get a U-Haul truck. When they came back they told us we would be required to pay an additional $1400. or they would take our load to a storage facility. We tried talking with the owner of the specific Atlas affiliated company doing our delivery and explained this was never discussed with us and that we had already paid in full. They said we would need to pay and held our furniture hostage at the end of our road. I could not get in touch with anyone at Atlas Corporate Office to discuss this so we finally paid them $600 so they wouldn't leave with our load. I disputed this charge and have filled out the appropriate paperwork with Atlas only to be told we must pay the $600. This is extremely unprofessional and unethical. I want to warn others about these practices. I will warn everyone I know and will certainly never use them again but would like to have my complaint heard.

Desired Outcome

I am seeking a refund of $600 additional charge we were forced to pay in order to receive our furniture delivery. It would also be nice to have assurance that they will notify all customers of these possible additional charges in writing as part of their estimate.

Atlas World Group Response

Our office just responded to this consumers overcharge dispute of the shuttle, our position has not changed of that below.

Re: Overcharge Claim

Dear Ms.

Thank you for choosing Atlas as your relocation specialist. The correspondence you recently submitted has been reviewed and we have reached the following conclusion. Our records indicate your relocaiton was released to Atlas Van Lines, Inc. as a standard non-binding estimate.

Regarding the destination shuttle, carriers utilize shuttle services when it is impractical or impossible for the unit used during the interstate transportation of the household goods to facilitate the loading or delivery. A shuttle truck or smaller vehicle is used to load or unload the household goods and transport them to the interstate vehicle or final delivery point. When it is necessary for Atlas to utilize shuttle services, we determine the applicable charge by determining the amount of weight being shuttled and applying the appropriate tariff rate. No other factors are used in determining this charge.

Unfortunatly we are unable to offer a refund for the destiantion shuttle as we do find it was necessary, The total charges for the relocation are $12,517.16 of which $11,851.56 was collected. The agents invovled in your relocation alreadhy made a concession to you on the destination shuttle by only collecting $600 towards this service.

The ctual cost of the destination shuttle was $1,265.60., leaving a balance due on your relocation of $665.60 that we have agreed not to pursue. Based on this information we do find the transportation charges are correct as assessed. We have enclosed a copy for your records. Thank you for your patience during our review.

Sincerely,

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
It is very wrong and deceptive for a business to demand additional payment for services without warning a customer in advance that there may be additional charges ag the tone for c delivery! As far as we were concerned we had already paid d over $11,000. for moving services and we were paid in FULL. *** ever told us there may be additional charges and it put us in a terrible position when the moving truck showed up and it was sprubg on us that we would need to pay an additional $1400+ for our shipment to be unloaded or they would take our load to storage! Though we finally got them down to $600 so they would give us our belongings, we fully intended to make every effort to get the $600 we feel we didn't owe back. It is extremely unethical to hold a customer's belongings hostage and should not be allowed to happen. This company needs to explain their charges in advance and let customers know there may be additional charges.

Atlas World Group Response

The possibility of additional charges are outlined in the terms and conditions of the Estimate in which the consumer signed.

These terms are also listed in the correspondence dated 9/28/2017

Final charges calculated for your shipment, based on actual weight and services, will be those appearing in Atlas' tariff applicable to the transportation. These final charges may exceed the approximate costs appearing in your estimate. This estimate is not binding upon Atlas and the charges shown are the approximate charges to be assessed for the services identified in this estimate. At time of delivery, you may not be required to pay more than 110% of the estimated total charges plus: All charges for additional services not included in this estimate that are requested after the bill of lading is executed; and Charges for additional services required due to impracticable operations, as defined in Atlas' tariff (which include destination shuttle service or unanticipated destination SIT), subject to a maximum of 15% of all other charges at delivery. You will be billed for any balance in excess of either the 110% or the 15% after delivery and you will be obligated to pay the balance.

At this time our office has no further response as the customer has filed a credit card dispute that our credit and collections department will be responding to.

The dispute has gone into the Pre-Arbitration process.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
A company must disclose if there is the possibility of further charges and this was not done by Atlas. You can't just show up and hold someone's belongings hostage until they pay more money on top of the agreed upon amount that was already paid in full. That is unethical and will not be tolerated.

Company has failed to delivery multiple items packed at destination. Has not offered a satisfactory claim reimbursement.
Atlas Van lines has sent an unsatisfactory amount in claim reimbursement for missing items that they failed to deliver on 8/17/17. *** at (XXX) XXX-XXXX ext *** has offered only 112 dollars for damages and has refused to acknowledge the missing items by saying that they were all delivered according to their records.

Desired Outcome

I expect full payment of the items I claimed in the original filing. It is not acceptable for a moving company to lose my possessions and expect not to pay for them.

Atlas has broken delivery date contract with me 4 times. They have lied to me. 3 weeks and no household goods delivered yet. They want payment anyway.
My 13yr old daughter, *** and I drove across country with our 3 animals in 4 1/2 days starting on Aug 19 in order to beat the moving truck. Our things were picked up by *** Atlas on 8/21. Contracted delivery spread was 8/26-9/1. I called when we got to *** to check on when the things might be here. No one could quite answer what was happening with my things. No one from corporate got back to me. My moving rep, *** seemed to not have any real info about anything. It just sat...They have not resolved the matter swiftly or fairly. There was no Act of God that prevented delivery of my goods. My household goods are still not here on 9/10/17. I have either been not informed, misinformed and our right lied to ( was told my things were on the road last week when they were not- I had confirmation from *** Atlas in ***). I was told parking for the truck would be set up for me. It wasn't. I was told I could leave chest of drawers full of clothes. I couldn't and was charged for it. I was disrespected by my moving rep's fill in, *** who told me I was wrong about delivery date and that I was not told the things I was told by *** my rep (I have proof on contracts and emails that everything I said was true). I was told by Operations man *** at corporate office that I had been bumped for a bigger load and you were scrambling for another driver over two weeks ago and that he would get right back to me. They didn't scramble and no one ever got back to me. No one ever got back to me ever. I initiated communication every time to find out what was going We are 3000 miles away from our original home, trying to set jobs, school and a new life with nothing but each other. No furniture. No comforting items. No clothes. No office supplies, desk top computer, or ability to have wifi (Comcast won't come without phone tv and desk top to set up). I am supposed to be doing work online and looking for an additional job, my daughter is supposed to be doing online schooling..I have pieces of my other counseling job I can't do without our stuff. We are feeling exhausted, fragile, disrespected, sore from sleeping on an air mattress, and so discouraged. You have my parents' antiques and other items in your possession. They passed away in the last three years. Please bring all of this back to us...help, please help.

I have gotten no resolution, just trite online Facebook responses from Atlas Van Lines and an I wish this wasn't happening and how awful this is and it should not have happened from my moving rep. Yet they state when my things are delivered I must pay for devices rendered even if they did not meet expectations. I can file a complaint at a later date...

They have had since August 21 to get my things on the road and to me and yet they still have not done so. It scares me to think that my things might have been lost and they're covering that up or that they just didn't care about my things and enough about customer service to actually follow through on the contract with me. They are supposed to be here tomorrow afternoon. We will see. Paying them for such an awful experience seems wrong. I feel like they should pay me for mental, emotional, physical, professional as well as academic distress for my daughter.

Desired Outcome

I seek delivery and reimbursement of fees. I feel as if I should seek damages beyond that too for impact on every area of our lives too, but... As stated above, I believe I should not have to pay absolutely horrible service. Atlas has broken the contact with me four times and has lied to me, miscommunicated with me, disrespected me, and caused incredible stress for me and my daughter. They've also had a professional and therefore financial impact on me. I would like delivery of my goods, reimbursement of anything they require me to pay them upon delivery, and a written apology.

Atlas World Group Response

Our office has received this consumers Revdex.com complaint, as well as her letter of complaint directly to our office. Her shipment was delivered 5 days past the agreed upon delivery spread of 8/26/2017 to 9/8/2017

*** Moving and Storage has already deducted $162.50 from this consumer's transportation charges as reimbursement for the parking permits she had to obtain as this was promised to the customer.

Our office will review tendering anything additional

Thank you

I would like to be reimbursed:

Amount charged for move: $5952.61 (more than quoted at last conversation with my *** moving rep.)
Parking meter covers 142.50 plus 142.50 plus 20 dollars= 305 dollars (nothing was removed from what I was charged)

2000.00 for emotional/financial/physical stress and inability to work from 9/1-9/13

Very poor communication and now informed THE DAY OF delivery will be DELAYED!
I have been constantly reaching out for a status update on my delivery (phone and text). Each time it takes a day or two just for a "I'll check on it for you". Again, constantly have to reach out for a follow up on the previous follow up!

Our delivery date range WAS 8/24-9/11 and today on the latest promised delivery date (9/11) I'm told there will be a delay until 9/14 (possibly even later!). Again, I reached out previously on 9/8 for an update with no reply. I got a call from Atlas to offer discount ONLY on fast food (no grocery)?? An air mattress?? We are a family of 4 (kids of 4yr and 2mo) sleeping on a floor mattress and living out of suit cases. We had hopes of Atlas fulfilling their promise when they were SELLING SELLING their services. Now the Atlas representative says they are not obligated to deliver between the delivery dates in our contract they SOLD us and the dates are only a courtesy to the customer??! Isn't that false advertisement!?! Of course the Atlas rep didn't want to go into the subject with me and brushed it aside.

Just a frustrating and stressful experience with Atlas and our delivery. If only there were willing to work with their customer to make a bad service an OK service.

Desired Outcome

Compensation for the late delivery WHENEVER it arrives.

Atlas offered a compensation total of $375 for 3 days. This is unacceptable and doesn't make any sense as hotel alone (not even including food) for 3 days would be at least $600 ($200/night).

I'd be interested to see how Atlas calculated $125/day is suffice to house and feed a family of 4 (1 toddler and 1 baby).

Dear ***,

We have completed our review of your delay claim submission. Our settlement resolution is below:.

Per Diem 375.00

Atlas' delay claim policy allows for consideration of reasonable lodging and meal expenses, incurred due to the delay of your goods as a direct result of Atlas' handling. Lodging is considered based on reasonable, actual out of pocket expenses. Reasonable meal expenses up to 50% are covered, all expenses must be supported with receipts. (Exception: Per diem allowances may apply on relocations that are covered by contract terms in place between Atlas and the party ordering the relocation.)

We are unable to honor the $1,000 claimed without substantiation of out of pocket expenses. The delay claim was fiiled prior to delivery . We do reckognize that your shipment was 3 days late, thus we are offering $125 for the three (3) days the shipment was late. Our check in the amount of 375.00, which represents final settlement of your delay claim, will be forthcoming soon.

Thank you for allowing us to participate in your relocation. We apologize that our services did not meet your full expectation and for the inconvenience you encountered as a result of the delay in delivery.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not accept Atlas's position in this case. Will rather leave the complaint on Revdex.com so other people will know better than I did and walk away from them. Poor service and VERY POOR customer service. Not once did Atlas even attempt to provide REAL customer service. First they tell me they are not obligated to delivery by the PROMISE (then why promise?!!) and now Atlas figures $125 a day is enough for a family of 4??! Laughable. Will never recommend and always UNRECOMMEND Atlas for anyone of moving services. STAY AWAY.

In mid-august I signed with Marlene of *** an *** agency, to move from FL to NM. Contrach listed the load date as Aug 30. Unload range was 9/5 to 9/9. My house closing was scheduled for Aug 31 and the walk through the 30th
On Aug 30 at 7am, I called *** dispatch to see what time they were coming. The dispatcher said he had no record of our move in his system. Called Marlene- she discovered that while she did email the contract and the contact was "in the system", no one entered it into the Dispatch system (why not have a shared database?).
So, they scrambled to get a packing team to box up pictures, glass and mattresses that afternoon. The packers arrived with no mattress boxes.
Next day, Aug 31, one day later, they arrived to load the truck. However, they again had no mattress boxes and dragged a $2500.00 king mattress down the hall to the front door. All three mattresses and box springs were loaded with no protective boxes. They also broke off three landscape lights
We arrived in NM on the 4th. On Wednesday, I called Dawn at Atlantic to tell her that the streets were pretty tight for a long semi. She said she would have the supervisor look at it. I was told that the unload dates was the 9th.
On the 8th, I called Dawn and she reconfirmed that the 9th was the unload date.
At 6 am on the 9th, I called Dawn- the lines were not operating in FL. I finally found a working Atlas phone in Indiana. The person there said our truck was broken down in Texas and was expected to be in NM on the 18th. I told him that was unacceptable. He said it was a moving business, not Amazon. I told him I had moved 6 times from CA to FL to NM and had NEVER had such a mess.
After a few expletives from me, he said- whoops, the truck was delivering a split load in TX and "planned" to be in NM on the 12th. I said that was past the contracted due date but he said his screen said the 12th was the last date of the delivery range- again how hard is it to connect databases or was someone lying?
I then asked him about the tight streets potential I told Dawn about- he said there was no mention of that in my file and that I would have to pay for that as an extra if they needed a transfer truck.
I said what if I refused and he said that I would never get my furniture unless I agreed to pay for the transfer truck. I should have never mentioned the street and watch them have to helicopter lift the semi back out
At that point I asked for his supervisor, who was "not available". I asked him to call within two hours. Never happened.

Mr. B shipment was handled directly by *** relocation, an Atlas agent

*** has already reimbursed customer $358.48 for hotel reimbursement due to late delivery

Once the consumer's transportation charges were audited by our rating and distribution area, it was found that the transportation charges were overpaid

Thus a refund of $2,553.59 was issued to the consumer's credit card on 9/25/2017

As well as *** has offered Mr. B a flat $250 for his loss and/or damage claim in which the consumer has accepted

Based on this information we find the compliant is resolved.

The movers broke my $250 wooden dining booth into three pieces on load out, despite the fact that I prefaced how the unit needed to be handled. When I attempted to file a claim, they denied it, suggesting furniture comprised of particle board which is not covered. The fact remains, I'm out $250 and there is no accountability whatsoever and it begs the greater question: does it give movers the right to handle your furniture carelessly and damage it knowing the client has no means of recourse? Incidentally, they damaged another piece of furniture which I was able to repair, but when you pay $2500 for a service there is an expectation of professionalism.
Product_Or_Service: Moving Services

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) Repair or replacement of unit.

Atlas World Group Response

We are unable to find this consumers shipment in our system. Was this an Interstate relocation, or a local relocation in Florida

Please ask the consumer to provide more information so we can review.
What is their Atlas registration number?

Cross-country move resulted in 2 missing boxes and a damaged couch that they refuse to pay for
*** and *** are the contact people I'm dealing with but she just defers to him and he's the one denying the claim for the damaged couch and had zero information on my missing boxes. The move happened on July 15th after being delayed with again, no communication until the day of. They should be ashamed of taking people's money and following through with their commitments. I've emailed both multiple times and they have now stopped responding. I've followed their process for filing the claims and held up my side of the contract it they have not.

Desired Outcome

I want the refund from my complaint at a minimum. A full refund ($5600) would be my first wish as this whole process with them has been stressful enough on top of moving to a new place. I also would like both contact persons to be reprimanded for horrible customer service.

Atlas World Group Response

We received 2 claims from this customer. A Delay claim was paid to the customer on 8/2/2017 for $301.98 for 2 days delay hotel and 50% of meals.
The Loss and Damage claim is being processed for settlement based on the coverage the customer elected and contracted for the relocation of $.60 per lb. He did not secure or pay for additional coverage and the claim settlement offer is based on the coverage he secured. It is illegal for us to issue any type of refund/rebate, and the claims are processed based on the contract of coverage.
