I've moved multiple times. This was by far the worst and it was supposed to be the quickest and easiest.
I've moved multiple times. This was by far the worst and it was supposed to be the quickest and easiest. The movers were an hour and a half late. They were moving less than two bedrooms worth of items and they were super lazy. Upon arrival, the guy in charge of the team was legitimately attempting to tell me how much to give as a tip. I will never use this company. I do not recommend EVER! They showed up with zero tools and attempted to leave a bed when they were they to only move two bedrooms. One star is too high for this service. They literal threw mounds of tape behind bushes before they drove off.

It is addressed to Atlas Van Lines International -but our International division has no record of this cusotmer as well.
Movers either lost or stole the contents of a box. They threw the box in an unfinished area of my house so that I would not see the empty box.
Atlas Van Lines had handled my move and delivered my belongings to my new home on March 2nd. I had a box that contained the contents of my nightstand, which primarily contained some deeply personal and sentimental items that I keep beside my bed. I could not find the box for a couple of days, but figured it just got put in the wrong room because I know I saw it come off the truck.
The upstairs of our house has some short 4-foot doors with attic space behind them. I was going to put some boxes in one of these areas tonight, and when I walked in, I saw my nightstand box, sitting there opened and completely empty.
I am deeply upset because the movers seem to have either lost or stole the contents of this box, and they tried to hide it by placing it in attic space so that I wouldn't see it during the final walkthrough. No one has been in the house without my supervision since the movers were there, and I did not tell the movers to put anything in these areas (or even tell the movers that they were there).
I have tried to resolve the issue with Atlas, but they say that since I signed for the box coming off the truck, there is nothing they will do. Yes, I signed for the delivery because I saw the box come off the truck. I didn't know I had to check whether it had been emptied, and then follow the movers around my house.
Given the location of the box when I found it, it's clear the movers knew they did something wrong. And now Atlas is refusing to take responsibility for it.
I want the $1000 to compensate me for the 2 watches that were given to me as an anniversary gift and a graduation gift, and several gift cards. The box also contained every card and letter that my wife has ever written to me since I met her 8 years ago, a Bible that my parents gave to me after I was baptized in 1992, and another Bible that my wife gave me as a birthday present. I cannot assign a monetary value to these items.
Mr. has claimed $1000 for loss of items within a carton -that was packed by owner with no verification of contents. The carton was confirmed received but he is indicating "theft" of contents within the carton.
We advised the customer to file a police report if he thought Theft was involved. We have no way to establish proof of this loss lays with Atlas Van Lines when it was discovered 3 days after delivery and the customer had other contractors within the home as well. We have always and will continue to work with any police authorties that may surface during any investigation.
We have no verification of the actual claimed missing contents, and have no verification the loss was created by Atlas Van Lines.
The customer has the burden of proof on any claim filed ( regulated by the Carmack Agreement) and unless there is something to establish this loss responsibility falls to Atlas - it will continue to be denied.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I have never stated that "there were additional contractors within the home." There were no contractors in the home between the time that Atlas was there and the time that I discovered the empty box. I explicitly stated this in my 3/5/20 email to Atlas, and I do not appreciate Atlas making up elements to fit their narrative of the events. You say that I have to satisfy the "burden of proof" and then make up components to the story with no proof or documentation at all.
I am sorry it took me 3 days to file the claim. It's kind of hard to find things when your employees hide them behind the walls of my house. Although I should also point out, the *** Agreement that you are trying to hide behind allows up to 9 months to file a claim, so I think 3 days is pretty reasonable.
I did file a police report with the *** County Sheriff's Department (case number XXXXXXXX), but I would imagine the police have more important things to do with their time than investigating the theft of the contents of a moving box.
I would have expected a company with tens of millions of dollars in profit might actually stand behind their product and the employees that they hire.
Apparently the "Full Value Protection" that you charge a premium for is only applied if the customer records the entire packing process on video.
I don't think the *** Agreement was written to govern this type of problem. The goods were not damaged or lost in shipment. The box arrived and was taken off of the moving truck. I saw it come off the truck!
The biggest problem here is summed up by the fact that the empty box was thrown behind a wall in an unfinished area of my house. This, undeniably, was done by one of the Atlas movers. The mover, a representative of Atlas, clearly knew that the empty box was a problem (regardless of whether the contents were stolen or missing) and tried to hide it. And now Atlas is trying to pretend that it never happened.
The comment regarding outside contractors was provide by the Van Operator -noting : " The driver did clarify the outside service workers situation. He stated they were not at the residence during the time of delivery. He said the house was definitely noticeably under repair and tools/supplies were inside the residence." This is why the statement was made regarding outside contractors.
Yes the custsomer has 9 months to file a claim and 3 days is a reasonable amount of time. However we performed NO packing or unpacking on this relocation, and nothing was noted during this supervised delivery. The items said to be stolen would have no financial gain for anyone other than the customer with sentimental letters/cards, and we do continue to deny responsibility for this loss.
The carrier takes Theft allegtions seriously and why we request proper investigation by the authorities. However when there is nothing to validate the theft - we can not point responsbility. In an effort to show good faith we are going to ammend out settlement offer to extend a $300 Goodwill gesture for the relocation. This is showing to be a 1.5 PBO carton which if normally admitting to loss, would constitue a $150 settlement towards a carton this size. In an effort to support something for this custoner *** and Atlas are both providing $150 each to try make a more favorable end for the customer. The settlment offer to include this $300 is being sent to the customer for resolution..

Atlas did not provide an inventory (check-off) sheet when moving our belongings, resulting in claims for which they are not accepting responsibility.
My wife and I hired Atlas Van Lines to move our belongings from ***, SC to ***, AL in August 2019. However, the Atlas driver failed to provide us with an itemized inventory list when he loaded the truck. Atlas has refused to address the problems this egregious error has created. I am turning to you for assistance.
A thorough explanation of the situation exceeds the 4000-character limit online. Please review the document I have attached. It contains complete details. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have.
Thank you.
We are willing to accept one of the following three options to resolve this problem: 1. Atlas provides a crew to unpack and repack all of the items in the storage unit. During this process, we will complete a detailed inventory of all of the items and amend the current claims accordingly. The storage unit is 10'x25' and packed floor to ceiling, so this would be a difficult task. We expect that it would take us several days to complete the process. This option should be performed entirely at Atlas' expense because they did not properly inventory the items. 2. Atlas settles the current claims for damaged and missing items, per their most recent offer ($2975). Atlas agrees in writing to honor *** commitment to permit additional claims if necessary when the storage unit is unpacked. 3. Atlas issues a refund for $8085.57 (i.e., the original charge of $8141.61 less an unrelated adjustment $56.04). We forego our right to file additional claims when the storage unit is unpacked. Either option #1 or #2 would be preferred. Option #3 is not ideal because we do not know what is missing. Our current claims for missing items include only those that should have been delivered to the apartment but were not. Without an inventory list, we do not know if all of the items that should have been delivered to the storage unit are there. Given the runaround we have experienced since the move and Atlas' attempt to retract *** commitment, we expect Atlas would deny any additional claims submitted when the storage unit is unpacked anyway. This is why we would be willing to accept option #3 and move on.
Atlas Van Lines, Inc. (Atlas) has reviewed the complaint made by Mr..
First, Mr. incorrectly indicates that Atlas did not provide an inventory list for this relocation, as a nine-page inventory was prepared. Specifically, blue tags numbers 1 - 274 identify the items within the shipment. However, Atlas does not have substantiation of when and where the 274 items were delivered, as there was no check off performed at either the Apartment or the Mini Storage unit. Apparently, the professional van operator did not provide the inventory documentation to the Mr. for final (destination) signature until after both deliveries were performed.
Due to the foregoing, Atlas did include in its offer $1,500 worth of packed items claimed as missing (the total claimed for such items). Actually, Atlas offered settlement on every item included in the claim, and did not deny any items outright. Specifically, repairs were performed on 2 items, Atlas offered (and Mr. agreed upon) an "Appearance Allowance" on one item", and for three other items Atlas offered the full amount claimed, as they could not be repaired. The total offer made by Atlas was $2,975 (as indicated by Mr.).
It is accurate that Mr. was provided with written documentation from Atlas Agent, *** agreeing "to keep the claim process open till you relocate to your new home". Accordingly, Atlas, in good faith, will allow one additional claim filing within 30 days of removal of his items from the storage unit, despite the fact this will be beyond the contractual filing deadline date of 9 months. However, we do ask that Atlas is notified of the date and time when the removal takes place.
When the items are moved from the storage unit, we will also need photos of any damage that exists at that time, as this information will help substantiate that any damage subsequently claimed by Mr. existed prior to any further movement of the items from the Mini Storage. It is in Mr. interests to make any such notations, as he has the burden to establish that the damage occurred prior to the subsequent move (as Atlas is not responsible for any damage that occurs during that time).
The normal process for a Mini-Storage Delivery is for all damage/loss to be noted at the time it leaves our care and is placed into the customer's contracted storage unit. If not noted, any such damage/loss is denied, because any further damage/loss is not established as being caused by the carrier. However, since Mr. was not allowed an opportunity to make these notations on the paperwork at the time it went into the Mini Storage (in addition to the statement made by our agent), we are allowing this additional consideration.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Thank you for forwarding the response from Atlas. We appear to be closer to a resolution. Here is our response:
1. Atlas contends that an inventory list was provided, but this is inaccurate unless "provided" means "after the fact." We found tags on only a small number of boxes. Atlas' response concedes that Atlas "does not have substantiation of when and where the 274 items were delivered, as there was no check off performed." This point is accurate because we were not provided with a check-off sheet when the items were packed or unloaded. Without properly tagged items and a check-off sheet, it is impossible to know what was delivered and where.
2. It is accurate that Atlas offered a reasonable settlement for the items we identified as damaged. Atlas declined the claims for missing items (i.e., items that should have been delivered to the apartment but were not for reasons unknown). The "goodwill" amount Atlas offered is close to the total amount of the claims for missing items. However, the offer includes a statement that would require us to "release completely, forever discharge, and will hold harmless Atlas Van Lines, Inc. ("Atlas"), its employees, contractors and agents, their employees, contractors and agents, from and against any and all claims of any kind..." We are willing to accept Atlas' offer of $2975 to resolve the existing claims for damaged and missing items. However, language I just referenced is not acceptable.
3. The offer by Atlas to permit one additional claim filing within 30 days of removing items from the storage unit is reasonable. It is my understanding that the filing could include multiple items and could include damaged items, missing items, or both. We would agree to notify Atlas in writing when the move occurs. We would also agree to take photos to substantiate the existence of any damaged items before they are removed from the storage unit. We agree that Atlas is not responsible for any damage that might occur when we move items from the storage unit to a new location.
4. To summarize, we are willing to accept Atlas' offer of $2975 to cover the existing claims for damaged and missing items if the documents are revised to clarify the terms of an additional claim filing as outlined in #3 in my response. If Atlas concurs, we are ready to review the revised documentation.
Based on the written confirmation within the complaint - Atlas is going to release the current funds as indicated.
The only other items to be considered for recognition must be filed with photos within the 30 days from removal as outlined.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Atlas contacted me by email to ask about our anticipated moving timeline and I responded accordingly. I hope this situation will be resolved soon, but I am still waiting on a written offer from Atlas based on our previous dialogue.
We accepted the conditions outlined in the complaint and advised accordingly. We will proceed with sending him a formal response thru the claim.
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I received the check from Atlas. Per our agreement, I will contact Atlas when the items in the storage unit are removed. I will file a claim for any damaged or missing items at that time. Thank you for your assistance.
They were a joy to deal with. They showed up on time, were quick and thorough at both ends of the move
Excellent service! Driver very easy, great crew of movers on both ends of move. The only issue was the guy that came out and physically saw my stuff being moved, was way off. Perhaps it's intentional. I mean, that's his job. His only job. So I agreed to his quoted price, I asked if my stuff weighed more what happens? He said I could be charged up to 110% of his quoted price. I don't think it was random that after they had all my belongings and drive from PA TO SC, when they pulled up, my cell phone rang and they demanded almost double my quote! Extortion? Sure felt like it. I wrote a check for 110% but now I'm getting emails demanding the balance. Seems illegal, unethical for sure.
I used Atlas *** Transfer in *** Pa. for both storage and long distance move. They were wonderful from beginning to end. They came to my home and gave me an estimate, fully explained everything about how the estimate works so there were no surprises. The day of the move to storage 3 young men came and loaded everything up it was all tagged and written on paper a count of items and what they were. We stored for 4 months. Then the long distance move came and 2 young men came unloaded our belongings and we checked off the tagged items on the paper, everything was counted for, also no damage. The young men at both locations were very friendly, helpful, and courteous. They were very respectful of me, my belongings and my homes. I would highly recommend Atlas for your move and storage. I would definitely use them again if needed. Cindy M., South Carolina
We used Atlas Van Lines for our move from CT to *** SC. Everyone involved made a difficult endeavor much easier. They were courteous, pleasant, very helpful and efficient. I would recommend them for your next move.
Always reliable service. Have used 4 times. Fair and honest.
Highly recommend.
recently moved, used Atlas. Original quote right on target. Professional, curteous, and careful with our posessions. Highly recommend!
Very helpful & went over and beyond to make the move as smooth as possible
Breach of contract, unlawful possession of personal vehicle
Hired to conduct my move of vehicle to *** They keep changing the date of arrival and it has almost been 3 months. Nobody seems to have any answers on why things are taking so long and I am sure they are breaching some part of the agreement between the U.S government as this is a government move. All I want is for them to be accountable for their actions as I would be if I were to mess up this bad. I have a 35,000 vehicle that who knows what shape it's in now after 3 months in supposed transit and I don't even think they know where it is at this point. They should not be allowed to take U.S taxpayers money like this and half *** a service they bid for and breach contracts thinking it's ok because we are just government employees. Unreal this is happening to me and others.
Seeking that ATLAS be held liable for all damages and repair If found or replacement of my vehicle If not delivered within another 2 weeks without any litigation delay.
Atlas International was contracted to handle the move of Mr. household goods and auto. His household goods have now been delivered but it has taken longer than expected for the steamship line with his auto to arrive at destination. As a result, we have arranged for Mr. to have use of a rental vehicle until the arrival of his own car. We are in daily communication with him and continue to provide him with location updates via vessel tracking as well as estimated time of arrival to destination.
I had a corporate move from California to Michigan. Everything went were smoothly.
Top notch from packing, loading, delivering. Could not imagine things could be any better.
Great team to work with. Efficient and upfront about pricing. Overall everything arrived in great condition.
Atlas was prompt, efficient and did a great job wrapping every piece of furniture. They were careful with our belongings and our house. The guys were very friendly. Would not hesitate to use them again.
We had a great experience, especially from the Action Atlas group. Efficient, friendly and careful group from the estimator, to packing, to moving and unpacking from MN to AZ!
Great Door-to-Door Experience. From the estimator, the Customer Service Rep and the crews that packed, loaded and unloaded our cross country shipment, these folks did a great job. We had a few nicks & scratches but the follow up on that has also been terrific. We'd highly recommend Atlas Van Lines & their affiliates in Boston & Grand Rapids.
Careful and professional staff. It was not easy to get heavy furniture out of the second floor. They did a good job. They were not taking everything and I forgot to have them pick up one piece of furniture, which they had to come back and get. They scheduled delivery 430 miles away at a convenient time for me. I was impressed with all aspects of the move. The cost was about half of the quote from *** and
This company moved my belongings from Missouri to Virginia and the mover/driver lost some of my property, which they have decided to not reimburse me for, The company has a sheet titled "Customer Check-Off Sheet that the driver/mover was supposed to use to call off of each box that was brought into the house to confirm that it was delivered to me. The mover checked every box on the sheet and had me sign the sheet while signing 8-10 other pages, When I informed the company that all of my items were not delivered to me and that I never checked off one box on that sheet and that the driver *** falsified the documents they refused to hold him accountable, specifically *** of *** Moving Company. rAin stated that the driver can check off the box. The form is not titled driver/mover check off sheet, it is for the customer to sign off on so that when a box is missing that I would know what the box number was.
Product_Or_Service: MOVING
Order_Number: XXXXXXXX
Account_Number: XXXXXXXX
Other (requires explanation) I want to be reimbursed for the items that the *** lost during my move from Missouri to Virginia. I would also like for him to be held accountable for falsifying documents.
This check off form is used by both the customer and the hauler, as have many customers do not want to participate in the actual check off process at delivery. Therefore someone in the crew is responsible to make sure the process is completed.
This shipment delivered 2/3/2019- and the customer did not file for this missing until 8/2/2019. While it has been denied as transit liability the agency did offer a $300 costs of Goodwill on the missing portion of the claim. At this time there is nothing to substantiate the lost items claimed ranging from nail polish-toilet cleaner - shoes - stuffed animals - and Outdoor hand equipment.
My neighbor used this service and truck parked at my home. When I asked driver to move truck, they refused. I contacted Atlas and left voicemail for assistance. Nobody returned my call. I had to contact county for assistance. They advised me to contact police department. After arguing with driver and his team, they did finally move truck from my property.
