Thank you [redacted] for purchasing your classic car from WorldWide Vintage Autos. We are sincerely disappointed that you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase. Worldwide Vintage Autos sells over 1000 cars a year and is one of the top classic car dealers in the nation (about 5,000 classic...

cars sold in total). We take pride in "over disclosing" our cars, it is possible that buyers don't have the same expectations. This is why we do the following; i). Have an on site, full time, mechanic staff; ii). include over 100 pictures of said vehicle and its known faults in our advertisements; iii). take and show a detailed video of said vehicle; and iv). encourage in vehicle inspection PRIOR to purchasing. In regards to the specific vehicle you purchased, you did not see the vehicle or have it inspected prior to purchase as encouraged in our advertisement: “We encourage inspections. We disclose known defects and imperfections but we are not you. Purchasing a vehicle is very subjective. Come visit our showroom in [redacted], we would love to meet you in person!” in addition, the problems you are referring to were specifically disclosed in the advertisement: “We also cannot guarantee that every gauge, light, option, function, etc., will work as it should. We do our best to inspect these vehicles in every detail, and note any imperfections in the advertisement. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT GUARANTEE ANY AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS, GAUGES, OR ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS.  GIVEN THE NATURE OF THE VINTAGE VEHICLES WE SELL, THESE COMPONENTS CAN BE WORKING AT ONE MOMENT AND NOT WORKING AT ANOTHER MOMENT. IT IS COMMON THAT THESE COMPONENTS WILL NEED UPKEEP OR ATTENTION. IN ADDITION, MANY TIMES THESE VEHICLES SIT FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME AND ONCE YOU BEGIN TO DRIVE THEM SEALS HARDEN AND GASKETS MAY BEGIN TO LEAK! CLASSIC CARS LEAK. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH THIS BEFORE BUYING A VINTAGE AUTOMOBILE. “  As you are aware, all of our vehicles are sold “As-Is”, Where-Is” with all faults known/unknown and with no implied warranty as per the original advertisement listing and all of the legal [redacted] dealer documents you have signed. We are happy to provide an additional copy of these documents if you do not have them available to you. With all of this being said, we have worked with you and have offered you $350 to assist with tires, balancing and window repair.

This case is with our attorney. Our attorney is reviewing the information and will be in touch directly (or via the buyers attorney). The contact to our attorney is [redacted] ([redacted] [redacted]). As a reminder, The vehicle was sold "as is" with no warranty. The vehicle ran fine when it left the premises. The buyer also waived the right to an inspection. We encourage inspections PRIOR to purchase as seen in all of our advertising literate "We spend significant time inspecting and disclosing detailed items on all vehicles, however, at the end of the day, we are not you. We highly suggust that you come inspect the vehcile or have the vehicle inspected by a third party". In addition, it was sold with specific disclosure listed in the buyers order as mentioned in previous correspondence. With that being said, we WILL BE offering to help compensate for unforeseen issues that you have had with the vehicle and our attorney WILL be in touch with you.

Worldwide Vintage Autos sells over 700 cars a year and is one of the top classic car dealers in the nation (about 4,000 classic cars sold in total). We have reviewed the concerns and the fact that it appears to have the original motor makes the truck more valuable. Both motors are 8 cylinders. We have offered the client two proposals. I. We would purchase the vehicle back with a 20% restocking fee or ii). $850 to assist with a new 350 V8. A newly rebuilt 350 V8 runs $1000-1500. If the client chooses this route he would have a BRAND NEW motor and not one with 22K miles. The existing V8 Motor runs great as described.

In regards to the vehicle referenced above, we are disappointed that buyer is not 100% satisfied with his purchase. We are reviewing the concerns and IN GOOD FAITH, WE HAVE WORKED with the buyer to cover initial concerns. As always, we will work with the consumer if any such items have merit and were misrepresented or misinformed on the listings and in the 100+ pictures and marketing video of such vehicle. To reemphasize, our vehicles are sold "AS-Is" with no warranty. We encourage third party inspections. This client selected not to hire an inspection or see the vehicle prior to purchase. (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
What several options have been provided to me? I received one option which was the settlement letter that I attached. I informed them that I had to pay $450 for restocking and reshipping fees because I ordered parts based on the motor that was supposed to be in the car only to find out they didn't fit and there was a substantially different motor in it. They offered to pay $300 which didn't cover those costs and does not change the fact that the car they sold be had a different engine than specified. They are continuing to say misinformation that, frankly, is completely false. They previously stated that I noted these deficiencies and that's why I negotiated the price down. That is a lie and I was told the lower price 3 days before I even saw the car or went to look at it. I did not inspect it twice as they stated. I decided to purchase the vehicle on the first day of seeing it based on the information I relied on from their advertisement. I was very willing to work with you and AGAIN you only provided that one option not the several options you state. I have attached the emails where your company would not even respond to me. Your company has been very unwilling to work on a solution or even respond to me. If your company honestly does not believe the car is worth SIGNIFICANTLY less with the Pontiac motor vs the Corvette engine that was advertised then why don't you offer to buy it back? The emails show how many times I tried contacting your company and [redacted] directly with no response.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:There has no proof the car was ever inspected or due diligence to prove the car was as advertised. Bases on observations made by my mechanic the was was never inspected. Or, it was and all issues invited.  I want proof the car was inspected. I never received any inspection documents. Or , documents to prove the engine on had 3500 miles.   Prove it.. Thanks, [redacted]
Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because: Seller was told to repair vehicle prior to shipment! I was not made aware of any issues prior to purchase; the vehicle was described as "running". The issue was only brought to my attention following the purchase.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/06/23) */
WWVA feels very badly that Mr. [redacted] is not satisfied with his purchase., We have a very thorough process of inspecting every vehicle when it comes to our warehouse and prior to us listing it for sale. This vehicle went through that process and...

passed [redacted] flying colors. We checked the motor, transmission, and all lighting for safety and function.
We highly recommend that our customers get an inspection on the vehicles before they purchase them. All purchases are strictly as is with no warranties. Mr [redacted] did not have an inspection done prior to purchasing this vehicle. In good faith we have offered him a refund of $500.
We have sold thousands of classic cars since the inception of our business. Although it is impossible to make every customer 100% satisfied we have a tremendously high customer appreciation rate.
Regards,

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
If the vehicle passed * thorough inspection with flying colors as they say we wouldn't be having to file this complaint, this is blantantly false advertisement, they prey on people out of their area that cannot physically do their own inspection, especially when we paid for them to do the inspection. Also found numerous complaints on website and Revdex.com with the exact same issues, also found same complaints on vehicles showing up not drivable and in poor mechanical condition. This vehicle was sold with new interior which it did not have, this is all I was asking for not including all the other mechanical issues. They said they would take the vehicle back with a 20% restocking fee and I pay shipping which ends up them making a large profit and able to resell car to the next poor victim, which enables them to sell vehicle over and over again. Something needs to be changed on the way they are allowed to do business.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID .[redacted], , and find that Mediation is necessary. I would like to know the cost.

We have offered the buyer several options including money to compensate for his concerns on the motor and to help with the restocking of parts ordered for the motor. The vehicle was sold "as is" and was inspected twice prior to being sold. As stated in our advertisements, we represent the vehicles in inventory to the best of our knowledge but we do not build the cars in inventory. On this specific, vehicle, the due diligence on the motor could have been done prior to purchase by the buyer but was not. We apologize but this client is unwilling to work with us on a reasonable solution.
