Revdex.com of Upstate South Carolina Attn: [redacted].Revdex.com.org RE: [redacted] Ct APT [redacted], MO 63033   Revdex.com ID#: [redacted] Michelin File #: [redacted] Dear [redacted], We received your email regarding Mr. [redacted] and appreciate the opportunity to...

respond. Our file for Mr. [redacted] indicates that we were contacted on March 3, 2017 by Mr. [redacted] bringing to light his concerns of cracking with his tires. We were advised by Mr. [redacted] that [redacted]’s Club would not process a warranty claim on his behalf with no specific reason as to why was stated at that time. Please be aware that wholesale clubs such as [redacted]’s Club, [redacted], or [redacted] Wholesale Club only service tires they sell. These processes are separate from ours.   At this point we assisted in finding a dealer willing to process a warranty claim on Mr. [redacted]’s behalf through Michelin North America. We were informed that Mr. [redacted]’s tires did exhibit moderate cracking in the sidewall area. A pro-rated credit of 70% was determined to be due based on the tread depths provided to us.  On page one of the Michelin tire Owner’s Manual it states “If there is a defect in workmanship and materials during the life of the original usable tread, or six (6) years from date of purchase (whichever comes first), your tire may be replaced on a pro rata basis under this warranty. After six (6) years or the wear of the original usable tread, whichever occurs first, all warranties, expressed or implied, expire.” On page 2 of the Owner’s Manual it reads” If a tire is covered, and more than 2/32nds of an inch of original tread has been worn (or more than 25%, whichever is more beneficial to you), or it has been more than 12 months from the date of purchase, Michelin will replace the tire with a comparable new MICHELIN replacement tire on a pro rata basis. This means that you will be responsible for paying a portion of the cost. The Michelin tire retailer will determine the portion for which you will be responsible by multiplying the percentage of the original usable tread worn, by the current selling price at the adjustment location or the price in the current Michelin Base Price List, whichever is lower. You also will be responsible for paying in-full the cost of mounting and balancing the tire, and the cost of any other service charges and applicable taxes, including [redacted] 3 packs.”   Each selling retailer determines what their costs will be with no influences from Michelin North America. The pro-rated credit is offered in percentages to be calculated along with what the retailer determines the starting price to be.   We respectfully decline to offer any additional credit to Mr. [redacted] and feel the appropriate amount was provided based on the use of his tires.   Sincerely, Jon Michelin North America Executive Response Team

Michelin Tire has not resolved my complaint.  My request is to simply pay for the cost of repairs to my vehicle as well as the replacement tire.  I'm attaching copies of the original request and invoices.

consumer several times by phone and one time by email to discuss her tire concerns and to explain our warranty (All Michelin tires have a Standard Manufacturer's Limited Warranty, which covers defects in workmanship and materials for the life of the original usable tread, or for 6 years from date of purchase, whichever occurs first). The Michelin [redacted] comes with a limited tread warranty for 60,000 miles, provided the tires are rotated every 6-8,000 miles. Also, under the limited mileage warranty, if the consumer does not reach the mileage, the tires are pro rated into Michelin, [redacted] or [redacted] Based on the case notes on file, [redacted] with [redacted] Auto Center contacted us and provided a complete inspection on the consumer's tires. This inspection results revealed that Mrs. [redacted] tires had irregular wear which voids the 6 year warranty ( Feathering or cupped wear is a condition where the edge of each tread rib develops a slightly rounded edge on one side and a sharp edge on the other. The most common causes of feathering are incorrect alignment settings or mechanical issues with the vehicle). On February 2, 2016, the consumer advised our representative the she replaced her tires with competitor's tires, non Michelin products. Under procedures, we do not offer any assistance into competitor's tires.Sincerely,[redacted]Michelin [redacted]

Dear Cindy,
We received
your email regarding Mr [redacted]’s complaints.
The Michelin...

passenger
and light truck tire warranty covers defects in workmanship and materials for 6
years from date of purchase or the life of the tread, whichever occurs
first.  Should a tire come out of service
for any reason, an inspection is required by an authorized Michelin dealer for
warranty service.  If a failed tire
causes consequential damage to the vehicle then the tire must be sent to our
consequential damage (CQ) claims department for inspection.  Unfortunately, without the tire available for
inspection by our CQ department, a vehicle damage claim cannot be filed.
The warranty
does not provide compensation for loss of time, loss of use of vehicle or
inconvenience.  As part of the MICHELIN
Promise Plan, Flat Tire Changing Assistance and towing are provided up to 3
years from date of purchase.  Mr
[redacted] did not contact our service provider for assistance and was charged
for the tow.  As a goodwill gesture, I
will reimburse the tow fee ($252.00) directly to Mr [redacted] if this is
acceptable to him.
Sincerely,
Dale

Dear [redacted],...

We received your second email regarding Mr. [redacted] and
appreciate the opportunity to respond.

We were contacted by Mr. [redacted] on 08/28/2017 and informed that one of
his tires came out of service and caused damage to his vehicle. Mr. [redacted]
advised that his insurance company would be repairing the vehicle. Mr. [redacted]
was concerned about the remaining tires on the vehicle. We informed Mr. [redacted]
that we would be happy to review the 3 remaining tires for possible assistance.
At some point there was some miscommunication as to our willingness to prorate
the remaining tires on the vehicle. We reached out to Mr. [redacted] 08/31/2017
and assured him that we are willing to extend any credit due to him on the
remaining tires once we have the inspection. Since the insurance company is
repairing the vehicle, they also reserve the right to the claim and can subrogate
Michelin for the cost to repair Mr. [redacted]’s vehicle which would include his deductible.

Sincerely,

Jon

[redacted], After reviewing Mr. [redacted]'s case (Case Number [redacted]) in our system, we found that this was a Damage Claim handled directly my our Consequential Damages Department.  This is a department within our Legal Group.  The following letter was sent to Mr. [redacted] from our Legal...

Department, Consequential Damages Manager.  This was their final inspection and conclusion on the claim and we cannot make any additional decisions outside of this.
 June 29, 2017Mr. [redacted]
[redacted] Rd[redacted], AZ 85254 Dear Mr. [redacted],
We have recently
completed our inspection of your [redacted]
BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/A tire and would
like to advise you of those findings at this time.
Examination of the tire, DOT #[redacted], has revealed a
radial break through the casing in the crown area from DOT mid sidewall to NON
DOT shoulder at 1000 (using the DOT# as a reference point at 12:00). The tread
and all steel belts are detached and missing in this area exposing the radial
casing plies. This indicates the tire, at some point in time, struck an unknown
object or obstruction with sufficient force, splitting the inner liner, allowing
air to infiltrate into the casing. As the tire remained in service, the air
infiltration progressed, ultimately causing a tread
detachment.Since the subject tire was damaged due to
an impact break and shows no indication of a material or workmanship condition,
we feel that Michelin is in no way responsible for any damages that may have
been incurred and must respectfully deny your claim.  Since our
storage space is limited, we will dispose of the tire unless we hear from you to
the contrary within 30 days from the date of this letter.
Sincerely,
Ritch

We have left several messages for[redacted], and did receive a voicemail today.  We are responding by email with an offer and hope to have a resolution soon.  *Case will be updated as soon as we hear back about our offer.

As I have stated before this was not offered before I purchase tires. Most people do not buy tires every 2 years so they are really not offering me anything. They kept sending me to different places that would not honor their warranty so it was really hard to purchase this brand again especially when I had a manager of a tire store telling me that they do not honor their warranty. I did what was recommended to me to be safe and have tires on my truck. Again I don't think I will be needing tires in two years so I am being offered nothing.

appreciate the opportunity to respond. We attempted to reach Mr. [redacted] by telephone and left a voice message to return our call. Mr. [redacted] tire warranty covers defects in workmanship and materials, but not mileage.  As stated in his letter, the alleged tires had 5 1 5 tread depths which is excessive wear in the center (irregular wear).  Even if the tires had a mileage warranty, the tires were not evenly worn to 2/32. Although nothing was due under the terms of the [redacted] Passenger and Light Truck Tire Limited Warranty, we extended 65% goodwill discount, which is beyond warranty concession. It is unfortunate that our jester of goodwill was not acceptable to Mr. [redacted]  We will not be refunding Mr. [redacted] 100% nor will we consider replacing the other two tires at no charge.   If [redacted] truck is a 4WD or AWD truck, again, as a goodwill  we will consider prorating the remaining two tires based on the percentage of wear.   If there are additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.  Sincerely, [redacted] Michelin North America[redacted] re...

[redacted] Dear [redacted], We received your email regarding Mr. [redacted], dated October 14, 2016 and appreciate the opportunity to respond. We reviewed his complaint and spoke with him on October 28, 2016. We received a call from [redacted] and Ross with the inspection information needed to evaluate this issue. The local tire dealer alleged the tire had a road hazard and was driven flat for an extended period. Mr. [redacted] was advised of the dealer’s inspection of his tire. We offered to assist in replacing the tire as a goodwill concession to assist the customer. Sincerely,  Evelyn W[redacted]Michelin Executive Response Team
