On behalf of Provident Credit Union, I would like to sincerely apologize for our contribution to the lengthy resolution of this issue. It’s my understanding that errors occurred by both *** *** and Provident Credit Union, and the issue has since been resolved
As you may be aware, the
issued stemmed from inconsistent written and numerical amounts on the check you issued to our member/your employeeWhen our member continued to attempt to deposit the check (which had previously been returned to them due to the inconsistent amounts), that triggered the series of events that occurred with both institutions, and ultimately delayed resolutionAgain, I apologize for Provident Credit Union’s contribution to the delay of resolution
As of *** ***, our member has been credited for the amount due, including any fees incurred due to this issue. It is my understanding that your institution, Wells Fargo, has also compensated you for any fees you incurred, also do to this issue. Therefore, we consider this matter to be resolved, and cannot comply with your request for compensation for your personal time spent to resolve the issue
We appreciate our member choosing Provident Credit Union, and hope to continue to be given the opportunity to meet their financial needs
Research was conducted on member's account to determine where loss of monies and fees were incurred. There is no indication of fees accessed within the last 6 months of activity. PCU is unable to refund requested amount.
Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: It shows that Provident Credit Union is definitely shady. There has been no activity on the account since 2004 at which time I made a payment after no activity for several years. I dont know what the charge off date has to do with anything..TProvident now claims they waited 6 years to do a charge off. That was the EXACT same answer they gave me over 2 years ago (that it would fall off of my credit in the matter of months). It NEVER happened, and that "Charge off" date keeps getting pushed up.

Provident closed the disputed card but on April 10 they moved the disputed charges due to fraud $2158.93(FXXXXXX [redacted] TRANSFERRED BALANCE) to my current Provident credit card ending in [redacted] according ton my online list of card transactions. They have not called me about the problem and I have called them 4 times since I filed this complaint using the phone number and contact they gave me. I leave messages but no one calls back. Provident Credit Union has some excellent employees at their branch level, especially in Walnut Creek. Always was a pleasure to do in-branch transactions. However in recent years if you have to call the main office or deal with the out-sourced VISA credit card people it becomes a total nightmare. Provident has apparently cut corners and costs by using an outfit in Florida that makes so many mistakes it is astonishing.
What was once one of the best financial institutions in the Bay Area is now worse than [redacted] or other banks that have a terrible back-end, charge excessive fees, and blame the customer if anything goes wrong. Hopefully Provident can reverse this trend and once again become a great credit union. Until then we'll be taking our business elsewhere and no longer recommending them.
PCU management has been contact with the member to discuss the conditional/provisional credits provided. PCU apologizes for the inconvenience this has caused the member.

Dear Ms. [redacted],
I wanted to let you know that there has...
been some movement in my case with provident. Below is the email I received from the branch manager I have been dealing with for about 3 weeks. Prior to that I was dealing with the collection department trying to get them to explain the payoff amount of the loan. I appreciate you assistance in this situation. It has been very frustrating. If I had not stuck to my guns the $619.50 mention below would not have been credited. As you can see from my reply I am asking that the loan be recalculated adding the $14.75 back in every month it had been subtracted from the principal. I am being very tough with the Credit Union since they tried to brush me of and then gave me the run around. I feel they have treated me unfairly and defiantly have tried to take advantage of me. I have all the records including bank statement showing the loan payment dates. Again thank you for your assistance.

[redacted] - That is great and I am ever so grateful. But I believe that would mean that the loan needs to be recalculated with the $14.75 being applied to the principal every month going back to when it was first charged. I will be talking with NCUA in the tomorrow morning to discuss the loan, what has transpired and see if I can have a independent audit. I reported the situation to the Revdex.com on Friday and will write a yelp review when the situation has ended. Please forward the audit to me so I can have it for inquiries. I so appreciate your kindness.- [redacted]

Hi [redacted],
The manager reversed the late fees totaling $619.50. This was due to the payment that was applied incorrectly in 2007. After adjustment has been made, there is still an unpaid principal balance of $1217.53. I requested a copy of their audit. I will forward once I have it.

Hi [redacted]- I have reported the situation to the Revdex.com. On Monday I will contact channel 10 and any other news avenue I can. I will also report to the NCUA and anywhere else that will take the complaint. I will write on yelp and... I am sorry it has come to this but I have been trying to get to the bottom of this for over a month. I have been working with you for over 2 weeks. This is not acceptable, someone should have been able to look at the loan and recalculate it and make sure it was okay. You said today the 3 payments were 100% interest yet, there were only 2 Skip-A-Pays. Plus the interest was all over the place the whole loan. Surely you have someone who could dissect the loan and get to the bottom of it. I appreciate your kindness, unfortunately I must get resolution so, I am going to go for it and see if someone else will help me get to the bottom of it.
