In October of 2014, we contracted Phil Beaulieu & Sons Home Improvement, Inc. to redo our deck with Trex's composite materials. [redacted] generated the estimate and final contract for $9,000.00, with a completion date of April, 2015. In March of 2015, I setup a meeting with [redacted] to review exactly what was anticipated to make sure there wasn't any misunderstandings prior to construction. There was no conversation about cost when he reviewed our specifications. He left, and said he would get back to us with a starting date. He called us on march 31st at 6:30 PM to tell us he wasn't going to do the job for anything less than $12,500.00. He said he made a big mistake, and under estimated to project. Therefore, leaving us to find another contractor in peak season for exterior contactors. We gave them a $3,000.00 down payment in October of 2014. They even had enough nerve to charged us a $30.00 because we used a credit card for a down payment. They returned $2,970.00.We signed with another contractor for $10,500.00 based on the very same specifications. The reason we went out for bids in the fall of 2014 was to get the very best contract. Now we have to pay $1,500.00 more based on a company with no ethics. They thought that they could jack up the price at the last minute to obtain a larger margin (profit).Desired SettlementFour issues:1 - Refund the difference of $1,500.00 that we have to pay a new contractor.2 - Refund the $30.00 credit card charge3 - Lower there Revdex.com rating from A+4 - Publish my issues with this companyBusiness Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: XXXXXXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@gmail.comTo whom it may concern. We did enter into a contract on XX-XX-XXXX to construct a deck for Mr and Mrs [redacted] @ [redacted] Dr [redacted] MA XXXXX. We did meet early this spring to review the project. The [redacted]'s wanted to make a couple of changes to the contract, color of the decking, how they wanted the decking installed in a picture frame and the fence product. After reviewing the project once again it was clear to us that we had made a mistake on the price of the quote, misunderstood how they wanted the deck put together vs the $9000.oo quote we had provided Mr and Mrs [redacted]. We asked if we could amend the proposal. The client decided to terminate the proposal and go elsewhere. We by no means were pulling a fast one on anyone. We have been in business for 40 plus years and treat everyone with the highest of ethics. I'm truly disappointed that this situation has happened. Mr and Mrs [redacted] were very nice throughout the process and we are very upset about the misunderstanding. We will be sending a check to the [redacted]'s for $30.00. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)[redacted] never had/has a detail list of materials and labor to back up the cost of $9,000.00. The fence product, he was referring to was to construct two privacy walls. When ask how he was going to construct the walls; he said he didn't know, because the Trex material is finished only on three sides and we need the forth side finished. If [redacted] had a detailed quote, with labor and materials then there wouldn't have been any misunderstanding. I firmly believe, that he had no more than what was in the small paragraph that is in the contract. Therefore, when the time came to start the project he had to now develop a material and labor estimate. And now wanted to jack up the price from $9,000 to $12,500, that is a forty percent increase!!![redacted], never asked to admen the contract! He called me, and told me, that there was no way he could do the job for less than $12,500. That isn't negotiating! That is, a take it or leave it demand!I still want the difference I had to pay to get the job done properly, $10,500 vs. $9,000.Also, their Revdex.com rating reduced so nobody else gets deceived!Thank you in advanced.Final Business Response Mr [redacted] is stating assumptions, untruths, inaccuracies and has no evidence in his last response. The facts are; at our last pre-construction meeting it was clear to me that the scope of work the clients were looking for was not what I had bid or what was detailed in the contract. There were details the client was asking for that would have created much more labor and materials..we always have a material and labor estimating sheet, but this situation isn't about how we estimate in the office. This entire situation is unfortunate but it's about the project that was on the contract was not what the owner was expecting. We were never trying to take advantage of anyone. This is just a misunderstanding between what was expected and what was on paper on the contract. We've been outstanding members of the community and the Revdex.com. We just received a 25 year award from the Revdex.com. The contractor that the [redacted] hired has been working in that complex and has done multiple decks in there community. Mr [redacted] didn't have to go far to get a new contractor. As far as compensation for work we never did. Sounds like the [redacted] recieved a good price from their new contractor as the price for the project performed was less than our bid for the details the client was looking for. We are asking for our Revdex.com rating reinstated to what it had been prior to this situation. We believe the client didn't want to stick to what was in the contract and wanted to make changes and didn't agree to the price. Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)This is the extent of the contract that I signed. I've know Phil and his company from years ago. They did the original porch addition to our house back in the "70's. Recently we had him come back to do some upgrades. I was really excited to find them still in business. They replaced all of the windows, the trim around them and the screen & storm door on the porch. The finished job came out beatifully. The door instalation has provided eassier access for me to get in & out and to put the icing on the cake, when they were finished they cleaned up after. In the end their quoted price was right on the money and well worth every penny.
Thanks for another great job!
Genny
Recently we had a new bow window installed in our house. Two fellows from Beaulieu did the work and did a lovely jobthey were promptcleaned up after the workspent endless hourswere meticulious in their work. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to have new windows, etc installed. You won't be disappointed
We had work done on our home (siding, screen porch and new windows) back in 1999. We were very impressed with all aspects of our experience with Beaulieu's. I contacted them in June, 2015 because of there were some minor problems with several of the windows which had a limited lifetime warranty. We also wished to have a new sliding patio door installed as well as have the molding repaired around our garage door. The work has been completed and once again, we are extremely satisfied with their workmanship and professionalism. We were also very pleasantly surprised that they took the time to send us a Thank You card for selecting them for our project.
The roofers were to be @ my home but weren't. Called [redacted] who yelled at me for asking for promised copy of contract...then refused to do job.On 10-14-13, at my home, I signed a contract with [redacted] for a new roof to be installed before T-giving for the sum of $9000.00. He said that he'd make a copy of the amended, signed contract & send it to me the next day. I did not get it. I sent emails on Oct. 16 & 29 requesting the copy. I was called by [redacted]. and told she would send it. I asked on 10/22 when I went to pick tile color and twice mor via phone. I never got it! On 11/12, I called to ask about date of install. Date of 11/21/13 - 7:30- 8:00 am agreeable to all. At 7:30 a LARGE truck was in my driveway blocking my car. After 20 min.,I stopped getting ready for work, threw something on,went out to trucker to ask him to move to the other side of driveway, so it didn't block my car. He asked when the roofers were due & said he didn't know where they wanted the shingles, etc. I told him he could put them anywhere but behind my car. By 8:10, I had to go to work. A little after 8:30 I called [redacted] and told him about the delivery and that [redacted] & crew hadn't arrived. I then asked if I could please get the copy of the contract. From nowhere,he blasted me w/a furious tirade!!! He told me that I HAD a copy of the contract,"I don't know what you want! I don't feel like doing your job & I'm going to pull it! How's that?!" I couldn't believe it! I'd done business w/ his father about 10 years ago & I couldn,t have been happier! Here are Emails I sent requesting contract. Date: Wed, 16 Oct 2013 15:29:34 I would like a copy of the Warrantee that is provided for installed CertainTeed roofing. OnMonday, [redacted] said that you would send me a copy of the contract (Tuesday) "tomorrow." [redacted], did he remember to tell you? Thank you for you help....[redacted]Date: Tue, 29 Oct 2013 18:54:48 When [redacted] was here several weeks ago, he told me that you could make a copy of the signed contract and send it. He said I should have it in 2 days. I still don't have it. Saturday I left [redacted] a voice mail asking him to call me Monday (yesterday) regarding the choice I made and scheduling. I have heard nothing. If this is a preview, I am less than delighted.Thankyou,[redacted] CONTRACT By the Massachusetts Law you [redacted] XXXXX Contract by Registered Letter PROPOSAL SUBMITTED TO[redacted] PHONE(XXX) XXX-XXXXDATE: May 6, 2013 STREET[redacted] XXXXX [redacted] We hereby submit specifications and estimates for:Roof -Strip all layers of roofing on the house, breezeway and garage Remove and dispose of all debris -Furnish and install synthetic underlayment -Furnish and install 6' ice and water barrier at all eaves, valleys and all roof penetrations -Install new aluminum drip and rake edge -Furnish and install new Architectural CertainTeed Landmark roofing oAdditional charge for Premium Woodscape -Furnish and install low profile cap over ridge vent -Replace stack pipe collars -Install new step flashing and wall flashing where needed.Note: Should plywood need to be replaced with 1/2" CDX plywood, additional cost ($50.00) per sheet not included in priceCricket Construct a new cricket on the back side of the new addition -Remove and dispose of all debris We Propose hereby to furnish material and labor - complete in accordance with the above specification, for the sum of: Ten thousand four hundred and zero cents Dollars ($10,400.00)At my home on October 14, 2013, he changed the price to $9200.00 or $9000.00 if I paid cash. Cash or check, it didn't matter to me.I withdrew the money yesterday to have on hand to uphold my end of the deal. Desired SettlementI want the copy of the signed contract from Oct. 14, 2013.I want a face to face apology.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] VPContact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@charter.netTo whom it may concern,I did enter into a contract to do the customers roof for $9,000. I don't remember a time frame of Thanksgiving being given to me to complete the work but I do remember the conversation to do the roof before it gets to cold. The customer may have wanted the project completed prior to Thanksgiving but that was never put in writing. The relationship between the customer and my office was volatile from the beginning. I had been to the customers house a couple times to review the project. I also had a conversation on the phone all of these conversations were very repetitive and concerned me about the ability to satisfy the customer. I had written several in house notes on the official contract and wanted to remake the proposal before I gave one back to the customer. I was planning on handing one to the customer when we were at the customers house. As stated in the complaint the customer called the office the day we were starting the project. She was concerned that my employees hadn't arrived yet and the roofing delivery driver was waiting for direction. This is where I unequivocally deny the complainants accusation that I yelled at her on the phone!! We run a professional office and business. I have several witnesses to the fact that I was short, cold and annoyed with the conversation I was having with the customer. I never yelled but I was blunt. The conversation that morning lead me to believe that doing this project was going to not end well. I made that decision based on experience. As much as I didn't want to upset the customer I didn't want to have any trouble. That's when I told the customer that I didn't want to do the project. My brother who's my partner called and spoke to the complainant and apologized to her. During the conversation my brother asked the customer if she still wanted to do her roof and that we would consider doing it. She said she would get back to us. That's where we stand today. Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I asked for an apology and a copy of the original contract. I do have the original contract. However, [redacted]'s reply has added insult to injury.I got a sincere apology by phone from [redacted]was even-tempered and professional. Regarding his brother's conduct, [redacted]commented that his [redacted] "can have a quick temper." [redacted]added that he was in an adjoining office and could not understand exactly what was being said, but that that he did not hear [redacted] yell at me on the phone the day [redacted] stopped the job when it was scheduled to begin. I previously sent the Revdex.com a copy the details on which [redacted]and I had agreed during that conversation. That was written in an email and in a contract sent to me by [redacted]for work to be done in the spring. I was going to sign and return the contract today, then I read [redacted]'s response. It is good and respectful that [redacted]called and apologized to me, but he never did anything to offend me.I would like a written apology from [redacted]. Everyone messes-up and makes mistakes including Mr. [redacted]. What he wrote to you, forwarded to me, is a collection childish excuses and justifications for his bad behavior.A man and company [redacted] should possess the integrity and the ability to apologize for his misdeeds including rude, unprofessional behavior. That's it. Then I can put my association with him behind me and go forth with [redacted] B. wrote you:1) "I had been to the customers house a couple times to review the project."[redacted] initially came to my home to give me an estimate for a new roof on May 6, 2013. Five months later, on October 3rd I left a message that I a question regarding the install. My call was never returned nor did I call his office again. Eleven days later, on October 14th he came to my home UNANNOUNCED while I was busy painting the foyer. I was surprised that he was there because I thought he would return my phone call with a return phone call. I set aside what I was doing and greeted him cordially. He answered the two questions I had. I signed the May 6th contract that he had with him after the price was lowered to $9000.00. 2) "I had written several in house notes on the official contract and wanted to remake the proposal before I gave one back to the customer"[redacted] told me on October 14th that he would have a copy made and sent to me the next day. I never received the contract to which there were TWO additional notes. One was a "cricket" that he agreed on May 6th to install as part of the work agreement, but neglected to put on the contract; the only other was the change in price. I am certain of this because last week I was sent a copy of that contract[redacted] finds this behavior "volatile from the beginning." I am absolutely perplexed and offended by this man!3) "I also had a conversation on the phone all of these conversations were very repetitive and concerned me about the ability to satisfy the customer."Conversations were repetitive in that I asked for the promised contract each time we spoke. In my original complaint I gave a full accounting of my totally DISREGARDED efforts to get the promised signed contract, up to and including the day the work was to begin. Only two phone calls were with [redacted]. The second of these was when I called about the no call, no show on the morning of the job. That ended with him hanging up on me. His comments seem to suggest that anyone who expects to have a written contract before work begins is a customer who can't be satisfied. I assert that anyone that is spending $9000.00 to have a job done on his/her home sans a contract is either completely obtuse or totally insane. I am neither.4"...I didn't want to upset the customer I didn't want...any trouble."It has been pointed out to me that I misspoke when I said that [redacted] yelled at me on the phone when I called him to inform him no workers arrived for the job and I need a contract. It just seemed like yelling when I had to pull the phone from my ear. In more accurate terms, he told me off with a rude, arrogant, patronizing diatribe that ended with; I'm going to pull the job! How do you like that? I'm going to call the guys right now and tell them not to go to your house! This was the only situation that was volatile and the hot-temper was not mime!I am a School Nurse. I would be fired on the spot and rightfully so, if I ever spoke to anyone like [redacted] spoke to me, no matter what the circumstance.Again, I sincerely hope to go forward with [redacted]and employee, [redacted]. But first, it time that Mr. [redacted] to do what is right and simply apologizeThank you, [redacted]Final Business Response I'd like to sincerely apologize. I hope we can move forward with the project for you.
Phil Beaulieu and Sons are not standing behind there work. We have two(2)year old tile floors that are loose and cracking. In April 2011 Phil Beaulieu and Sons completed an interior home renovation for us. In July 2013 we contacted [redacted] regarding two of our tile floors, Kitchen and Bath, that have loose tiles and cracking grout. During the renovation my husband questioned [redacted] re: the stability of the subflooring. At that time [redacted] told us that there was no issue with our subflooring and that it was fine. In fact he stated the following "I'll stand behind these tile floors for life." Now 2 years later they are coming apart and after several attempts to get a resolution from [redacted] he's taken no action to resolve this issue for us. On July 19th [redacted] sent one of his employees, [redacted], to access the floors. [redacted] told me that we have over 20 loose tiles and the floors will need to be redone. I waited until 7/24 to hear back from [redacted] but he did not contact me. On 7/24 I texted him for an update. He told me he was in VT on vacation and would call me the following week. That never happened. I then made a 3rd attempt for answers on 8/20. I texted [redacted] again, his response on 8/20 was that he thought that the job was complete. He then said he would look in to it. On 8/29 I made a 4th attempt for an update. I texted [redacted] and he said "I'm on it!" "I'll have information for you soon." That was my last correspondence from [redacted] at Phil Beaulieu and Sons, since that date he has made no attempt to contact me or to resolve the issue with our two year old tile floors that are falling apart. Phil Beaulieu and Sons advertises on the radio how they stand behind their work. [redacted] led us to believe during our renovations 2 years ago that he would stand behind his work, we have not found this statement to be true. As a matter of fact based on our personal experience thus far they are falsely advertising to the public. I have made another attempt today and left a message with [redacted] at the office for [redacted] or ** to contact me back. I would prefer that they resolve this directly with us but feel too much time has already gone by and I need the assistance of the Revdex.com.Desired SettlementI am seeking the proper repair of my tile floors for both my Kitchen and Bath. When the new tile arrives we will be resetting her tile and re-grouting at no cost to the homeowner. This job will be completed no later than November 20, 2013.

I AM VERY PLEASED AND WOULD RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS TO ANYONE. FROM THE SALES PRESENTATION TO THE CLEANUP, JOHN'S "CREW" WAS OUT STANDING. THEY WERE ALWAYS ON TIME AT BOTH ENDSS OF THE CLOCK, COURTEOUS AND THOUROUGH,
Phil Beaulieu & Sons Home Improvement is hands down the best roofing company in the Western Mass. From start to finish, they were professional, courteous, and efficient. They not only provided the best price for a brand new roof, but installed it in 1 day! Plus, the clean-up was unbelievable. It was like they weren't even there. No scraps, shingles, nails, or debris. Just an A++++, first class company that provide top-notch work and cares about their customers from beginning to end. Highly recommend!!!
Phil Beaulieu and Sons installed new sliding doors for us. They were wonderful throughout the whole process. The installers were particularly professional and friendly....they cleaned up after themselves, vacuumed the area, and did the new moldings.....We would definitely go back to them if we needed additional services in
the future. I would surely recommend them!
The staff at Phil Beaulieu & Sons Home Improvement did a great installing our new front door. From the office staff to their installers, everyone was friendly, professional and very knowledge. It was a pleasant experience and will be using their services again!
Avoid using this company! My small (5 double-hungs, 2 picture) window replacement project took 6 weeks longer to complete than promised, due to incorrect measurements taken by company owner. Workers left a MESS of nails, flashing, wood splinters and debris on my lawn & property. My newly installed Harvey MaxView windows get frost on the INSIDE whenever the weather gets cold.
To sum up my experience with Phil Beaulieu & Sons Home Improvement: They took longer than promised to complete the job, they did NOT properly clean up the debris left from removing my old windows, and they sold me CHEAP, FLIMSY replacement windows that are not energy efficient. I will never use this company again, and neither should you.

When the new tile arrives we will be resetting her tile and re-grouting at no cost to the homeowner. This job will be completed no later than November 20, 2013.
I recently had some windows replaced in our cellar because one had a bad draft and they only had one pane. The owner recommended to replace them all for better insulation so we did. They came and did an excellent job but struggled because of the way the windows were originally installed which were actually inside the exciting drywall. I think another company that didn't know their stuff wouldn't be able to do what this company did. They even replaced our bathroom window and did a beautiful job. I would highly recommend this company to anyone and look forward to having them replace more windows in the future
I would imagine, that even Mr. [redacted] would agree it lacks detail.DeckGut the existing decking and railingsRe-secure the ledger to the house and add a joist to the exterior rim joist box Furnish and install new Trex deckingo Color: spiced rumo All decking to be secured with hidden fasteners o All railings and privacy walls to be fire pit colorConstruct a new privacy fence to match the existing with Trex decking parts Furnish and install new decking on the stair treadsFurnish and install new Trex rails and posts to match the decking.Remove and dispose of all debrisJob to be completed by April 2015PS.
We had hired PBHI 13 years ago to replace windows and siding on our home. They did an outstanding job at that time. They had come highly recommended to us at that time by friends who had them do some home improvements.
Knowing the kind of quality products, workmanship, and fair price we could expect from PBHI based on our previous experience, they were the company we wanted to replace our roof, install and repair additional windows (that had not been previously replaced).
The Team at PBHI were professional, considerate of our needs offering good advice and fair pricing. We couldn't be happier!
