All impact windows have some level of failure of the seal between windows.
June 2014 PGT impact windows were installed. June 2017, noticed "fog" in corners of several windows. Contractor advised that seal between windows was breaking down. Located several other windows with the issue. This amounted to approximately 7-8 windows with issues. PGT advised they would replace windows but not cost of install. Advised of number of windows that were failing. They advised that if we had "all the windows" failing, to call them back. Withing a year all windows had some level of the seal breaking down and "fog" between the glass. Slider Care Plus came out and provided us an estimate which indicated that all had "bad low-" and need to be replaced. Slider Care advised that the only way to have a 100% failure is if there was the issue began at the factory. I contacted PGT and provided them with this information and that we were advised to contact if we had 100% failure. The cost to replace all the panels of glass (26 panels) (100% of the windows) is $3,900. Sent emails and correspondence as well as called PGT requesting they send a representative to the house to see the issue but they have refused. The cost to install the windows was $10,637.07. The cost to replace all the glass is nearly half the cost. This is concerning as PGT advised that if we had a 100% failure then it may be a factory issue; however, they will not communicate back to us. Concerned for the safety of the windows. Also, appearance on house is horrible. Concerned association will send us notice to make the repair.

Desired Outcome

Inspect the failures of the glass; provide free upgrade of impact window glass with impact double pane glass and cover the cost to re-install the replacement glass.

We will contact the homeowner for further information regarding issue.

Unfortunately, they stated that they would contact us regarding the issue after we advised of all windows being defective and they have not responded. How long before they will respond? It has been nearly two years since we first advised them of this issue. We need a prompt response and resolution.

PGT has agreed to pay the labor cost to install the warrantied replacement windows. Currently 24 of the 26 glass panes have been installed. However, two of the replacement windows were defective and therefore the installer could not install. They two windows have been reordered and will be installed once available. PGT and the vendor installing the windows has advised that PGT will be paying the vendor directly for the labor costs to installed the warrantied replacement windows. We do not have a date as to when the two windows will be available and installed. Thank you.

We are working with the H/O to finish off the service and as soon as the parts are in it will be completed.

PGT Winguard Series 770 Slider WIndow Crack
I recently noticed a crack in one of the stationary panels of a double slider that was installed in 2014. I immediately contacted the installer (Newman Windows and Doors) to come out an inspect. Newman stated that the crack looked like it was a stress crack and not an impact because it appeared to have started to crack from the edge and not from a obvious impact. Newman contacted PGT to file the claim. PGT return stating that since this was a stress crack and not an impact the warranty period is past (1 year coverage) and that it isn't covered. Newman stated to replace the glass it would be at a cost of $1400 plus $200 for labor. I was shocked by this decision because to me a stress crack infers a manufacturing defect either with the glass or with the fabrication of the product during assembly. This also makes me concerned because now what about all the other windows I had installed, will they fail during a hurricane? Will they fail individually over time? Did I really receive the product I was told I received? What other hidden issues exist with these windows? A 12 month warranty is poor for such an expensive product that is suppose to protect at 140 mph winds and impact. I spend $18,600.00 for these window to protect me from the elements and now there is a defect and I have to pay an outragous price to repair the glass. Can I really count on these windows during a hurricane? If windows start cracking with no stress on them from the weather, how will they perform when needed. At this point, I would not recommend your PGT windows, to friends or family nor do I feel secure that they will live up to the 140 MPH advertising claim! Your product is defective and so is your warranty which reflects that defect.

Desired Outcome

I expect that a PGT representative explain how a stress crack develops and how that crack will continue to ensure the integrity of the window to meet its design function during maximum hurricane conditions. I expect that PGT will ensure that their warranty lives up to their sales claim for being a quality product that meets or exceeds code requirements at their extreme. I expect PGT to honor they integrity as producer of a product that will save lives during extreme weather conditions and cover the expense to replace and repair this defect. I expect PGT to update their warranty to cover stress cracks to meet the extended warranty as their insulating glass.

PGT takes all warranty claims seriously and will work with homeowners after installation. Due to the inherent properties of glass, breakage is not a warrantable item. Environmental factors and installation can lead to stress cracks after installation of the product which are not the result of material defects.
All PGT warranty, glass policy and care and maintenance information is available on our website, www.PGTwindows.com. We will contact the homeowner directly with the information provided above.

Customer Response • Apr 03, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not accept the response only because it's a canned corporate response that doesn't really explain the cause. From my discussion with PGT representative, she stated that 'glass is glass' that these cracks do happen. So I've had windows in many houses throughout my 63 years of life and I have never had a window crack because of no reason at all. Where these windows are located, there are no 'thermal differentials' that would be great enough for the window to just crack and if that's the case why hasn't this happened to all of them that are at the same location. There is a defect with the product and the only resolution is for PGT to cover the replacement. The PGT representative stated also that the crack does not degrade the window from performing it's function as indicated by a video by PGT blasting a 2x4 at a high rate of speed and impacting the glass without penetration. If this is the case then I want PGT to provide to me a certificate of design function capability signed by a Professional Engineer and the company COO that due to this crack the window will continue to meet the code requirements and its design function during hurricane conditions. The warranty period is a hope that within a year' time the glass will not crack and once that year is up, well then the consumer is on the hook and PGT is free from a claim. If your windows, your process and product are that good then you should be concerned that this happens and cover the fix with no questions asked like great stores Costco, LL Bean, Kohls, Apple and the list goes on. Do the right thing, stand by your product.

Dear ***
Trade Practice Specialist,

I response to your email to me dated 05142019 6:08PM, you asked if the company has addressed my issues? my response is 'No, they haven't contacted me or left me any messages to resolve the issue.' I provided to PGT all the information they requested from our last correspondence on 4/23/2019, so I was expecting them to contact me.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

PGT Innovations Response • May 24, 2019

Thank you for your inquiry. PGT stands by it's warranty and glass policies. We spoke with homeowner, and also directed him to our website to view these documents at pgtwindows.com under warranty & registration.

Windows were purchased for our South Florida Condo by the board in 2017. Wrong windows were shipped. Orders arrived late setting the entire project back months. One unit owner received a damaged slider. After almost a year of trying to get it repaired we demanded a new window. We were told that it would take 6 months maximum to receive the new slider. 6 months!! Then we were told it most likely would arrive much sooner 2-3 months. It look 6 months. The slider arrived yesterday. It was the wrong part now we are looking at god knows how long to get the correct part. What happens if there is a hurricane or some other disaster where we have to replace multiple windows in multiple units? This is completely unacceptable. Even as a HOA buying windows and doors for hundreds of units we are such a small fish that they do not care about customer satisfaction.

PGT Innovations Response • Feb 22, 2019

PGT would need more information to research this complaint. I will have a PGT Consumer affairs person contact the complainant via email to gather more information regarding this order. Generally, product is manufactured according to purchase orders placed by the dealer.

Don't back up their products. Will not do a thing about defective window.

PGT Innovations Response • Jan 18, 2019

PGT Windows and Doors offers a industry leading warranty covering material defects. PGT products are custom manufactured, and a sales order is to be provided to ensure the warranty parts are the same as what was originally ordered. Information leading to the purchase information of the product from a distributor is required for PGT to research and/or locate a sales order.

The warranty for all PGT Windows and Doors products is available on our website at https://www.pgtwindows.com/product-information/warranty-and-registration.

If you can contact PGT Consumer affairs at 800-262-6019 with your original purchase information, we would be happy to assist you.

Caught in the middle of your company and a former dealer/installer. Folkers says we don't carry them anymore so oh well. Your offer was to replace defective glass for $300. I can buy a new window and have it installed for that or less. Not helpful.

worst company ever replaced all the windows in my house w low e solarban 70 plus grey tint to cool my house windows are laminated in reverse so they are like a big magnafing glass heated up my house intstead on cooling it , over 30k thrown away avoid this company at all cost

Company caused delay in construction of home due to failure to provide windows timely as well as windows improperly made
We were initial advised in writing from your company that the windows would take six (6) weeks from date of order. They took over twelve (12) weeks from date of order to the date of 1st delivery and additional six (6) weeks to receive all windows onsite at our location.
We were provided a ship date of June 18th. That day went and pass and no windows were shipped. On June 23 we were told all windows were shipped. In fact only eight (8) windows were shipped. Upon arrival your company advised that all windows were in the shipment however, Z. confirmed only 8 windows arrived. Clearly, your company should have known what was shipped and what was not. Your company was adamant that all windows had been shipped and requested Z. to confirm what had arrived. A week later a 2nd shipped of a few more piecemeal windows arrived. And a week later more windows arrived. Finally we received word that the last windows were being shipped. Upon arrival we learned that your company determined that one window shipped was in fact made with glass in reverse. On July 25th the last window arrived that was required to be remade due to your companies placing the glass incorrectly in the frame. During this entire process no one could ever tell us what was being shipped, what was required to be made and what was required to be remade as well as delivery person or time frame for delivery. A perfect example was last week when you could not provide a tracking number or a shipper on the window that magically arrived in July 25th. This was a consistent issue with your company during the entire process of window delivery. During this process I asked what was missing, what need to be completed what was being made and what was shipped. No one could ever tell me this simple information that should have been at your fingertips for an operation of your size.
As you know you promised the 2 windows being remade would be shipped on July 18th, however now we know they will not be shipped until later. Thus another delay caused by your company.
As a result we had a very significant delay in moving our project forward of almost three (3) weeks on brick and six (6) weeks on stucco. Now that the last window has arrived it will be installed and stucco work that was delayed can begin.
Delay damages are as follows:
Loss of brick mason due to delay in timely providing windows for three weeks; and
Loss of Stucco installer due to delay in providing all windows for 6 weeks
While we are still waiting on two (2) windows I have been able to minimize further delays by getting both the brick man to start last week and the stucco man to start his staging last week and to begin operations this week now that the last stucco window arrived onsite yesterday that was delayed due to your company shipping an window that had the glass installed wrong (this was the trapezoid window).
Additionally we have one window that was examined yesterday, July 25, 2018 that has chip on the inside of the glass that Sean A. with The *** and Tom R. of *** confirmed needs replacing along with the window crank that was damaged in shipping. While this will not delay further work it is frustrating that the glass left the facility in this condition with a non-operable crank.
As a result we have lost time, days, and money and will further push back next steps in the construction process. Everything from this point forward is shifted back our completion date which causes interest and costs to mount up. At his time our hard number damages are as follows:
1. Delay damages 3 weeks of brick work $ 7,500.00
2. Delay damages 6 weeks of stucco work $ 7,500.00
3. Additional interest incurred $ 1,700.00
4. Port a toilet $ 150.00
5. Additional Insurance- Builders risk $ 833.33
6. Dumpster rental $ 300.00
TOTAL $17,983.33

Desired Outcome

reimbursement for delay damages

PGT Innovations Response • Sep 19, 2019

First, We would like to apologize for the delay in response here on the Revdex.com page. As we worked with you directly we neglected to follow up here.

We acknowledge that there was a delay with your WinDoor window delivery. The delays were driven both by production delays as well as additional orders placed with us in June of 2018. We were able to expedite the last order and through this this process we worked directly with your WinDoor distributor to ensure the orders placed later were expedited and delivered with good quality. As we discussed previously, we do not provide reimbursement for a delay in project completion due to many uncertainties in the construction process.

We have a nearly 40 year history of standing behind our products, before, during, and after the sale. If you do have any product related issues we are more than happy to help either through your WinDoor distributor or you can reach PGTi directly at XXX XXX XXXX.

Company failed to provide all items needed for warranty issue.
I purchased 7 PGT doors and 8 PGT windows through *** on 6/4/2007. After several years one of the 8068 series 530 patio doors developed a problem with the fixed glass panel fogging up. I contacted *** and they provided me with a new glass panel that was covered by PGT under my warranty. According to paperwork they shipped this to *** on 11/20/2014. It was to be replaced in the door frame during the summer of 2015, however, there was no vinyl glazing bead or the "trim" around the glass included with the new glass panel. The original vinyl glazing is not reusable after removing the damaged glass panel. I contacted *** in September of 2015 and they said they would obtain the glazing from PGT. I did not receive it and did not follow up again until early 2016 at which time they put in another request to PGT. I still did receive the glazing and I did not follow up again afterwards. I then had an accident in August of 2016 after which I was able to do very little for quite some time. Therefore, I contacted *** again in July of 2017 to again attempt to obtain the glazing. I was then told that PGT told them the glazing bead was not available. I attempted contacting PGT directly several times and was told it would have to go through a dealer. I tried this route several times and with information given to me by PGT. There was no success and I again contacted PGT directly and stated that I needed to speak with someone who could take care of my issue. I eventually spoke to *** J. who said he would try to track down the part from a supplier that purchased it or he would provide an alternative solution. I did not hear from him so left many phone messages asking him to return my call and to this date I have never received a call back.

Desired Outcome

I want PGT to honor the warranted product as required by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and as stated by themselves that: "you can be sure you're getting one of the best warranties in the industry, and you're dealing with a company that has a history of backing its product and taking care of its customers" I would like the necessary vinyl glazing bead provided. If for some reason this is impossible, I would like a refund of the $2443.00 purchase price of the door.

PGT Innovations Response • Sep 06, 2019

We are sorry for the delay in our response and to hear about the concerns you mentioned regarding your door. The SGD 530 series sliding glass door has been discontinued for several years, as well as the glazing bead for this product.

Customer Response • Sep 09, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
PGT's response indicates that they chose not to honor their warranty because they discontinued the product. The continuation or discontinuation of the manufacturing of the specific model has nothing to do with the warranty they sold with the original product. I only am asking for PGT to perform as they promise under their own written warranty.

PGT Innovations Response • Sep 10, 2019

We would like the chance to discuss this further with you and resolve this issue. Please contact *** @ XXXX-XXX-XXXX ext. XXXXX.

Double pane window seals have failed, with moisture being trapped between the double panes. Warranty issue. Company will not address problem.
Problem: Insulated double pane window seal failure with moisture collection. Began in February of 2013, I have called PGT industries multiple times, sent paperwork and photos of window. Because I do not have the original sales receipt they are refusing to fix windows. They were informed that windows were purchased by the builder, Waterford Construction, who is currently out of business. Kimal Windows installed the windows, they have been out to document warranty work, 2013, but contend that they have no record of the install nor service call. Called PGT, multiple times, each time I get a new person, who indicates they have no records and to resent the photos and warranty. I have emailed them no less than 6 times photos and the warranty paperwork. I now discovered another window that the seal has failed. PGT refuses to honor the warranty, I am the original owner. I think 5 years of this ongoing problem is extreme. I have the original paperwork from the purchase of the house, original warranty paperwork.

Desired Outcome

I want replacement of the windows.

PGT Innovations Response • Apr 13, 2018

The home owner was sent an email stating that dealer could not locate a complete order for their home, only a single unit sent to the builder.
Informed h/o that since they nor the dealer could provide any documentation of the products PGT Industries would provide a onetime parts only replacement for the current product in question. We will follow up with the contact information for a dealer that they are to call for service.

I called Englewood Glass and Mirror, it took 3 days for them to respond back. I was informed that They needed a Order # from PGT, they are not going to call Mr. Kennedy. Explained the situation, on going issue for 5 years. In 5 years, I have never received an Order #. I have called Mr. Kennedy and have yet to receive a phone call back. In Mr. Kennedy's response to you he states that I could not provide the order #, the builder would have that not the H/O and they are out of business.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I am accepted that PGT states that they will replace the glass in the thermal pane window. Englewood Glass company is coming out on May 29th to replace the glass. I don't know how this is going to work, they are not replacing the framed thermal glass window, just the glass? There is suppose to be a gas between the windows I will close my complaint on the 29th if the window is fixed properly. Thank you for all you did. I know this wouldn't have gone as far as it did without your help

PGT Innovations Response • May 31, 2018

The warranty covers the insulated glass and that is what the distributor will be replacing for this service.

Single hung impact window cracked suddenly from no impact in 12/17. Window failed 32 months after installation in our new home. not covered
Move in date 02/15/2016. Brand new home with PGt impact window. 12 month warranty is poor for such an expensive product that is suppose to protect at 140 mph winds and impact. Outrages price to repair glass by dealer$250, who has yet to show up after a month of calls. Can I really count on these windows during a hurricane? If windows start cracking and popping out with no stress on their own within 34 months after instillation, I don't think so! I would not recommend your PGT windows, nor do I feel secure that they will live up to the 140 MPH advertising claim! Your product is defective and so is your warranty. Time to get storm shutters for a feeling of security from hurricanes!

Desired Outcome

Replace without labor cost and stand behind your product on new home construction. Give a better warranty! This is coming from a 68 year old South Florida Native, who has never had a window fail in any of my homes. I expected better! Stand behind your product or update your advertising to reflect how poor the product really is! They are not as good as you advertise. "Poor product that cracks sometimes in 5 MPH wind, and don't worry you'll only have to pay for labor to replace. And boy is that expensive!" That's how you should tout your windows, instead of the false sense of security you sell to customers. Buyers beware!

PGT Innovations Response • Feb 19, 2018

The warranty issue in this case was outside of service support. The homeowner was provided a copy of the warranty for his product along with a list of servicing distributors to contact to address the service issue.

We have ordered screens for the same job 5 times MONTHS ago and still have no products

They dont seem to care
We would like to order more PGT products but with every order there are unreasonable delays with no follow up.

we purchased a house at the address listed, we paid a very expensive upgrade option about $7500.00 to add sliding doors in our master bedroom, the doors continuously failing, the doors (been replaced 5 times already) the Installer company techs "Solar Tide" have advised us every time they replaced the doors confirming that there is a known manufacturing defects with this type of PGT doors I have as per Solar Tide techs. the temperature in summer time in our master bedroom becomes extremely hot, and in winter it becomes very cold that started to affect our health that we even stopped sleeping in our bedroom, as the seal keep breaking on these sliding doors. Our home Builder CalAtlantic was very understanding and tried to contact the installer (Solar Tide) and the manufacturer (PGT) to address my nightmare, but both installer and the manufacturer (PGT) denied the Builder's requests to address the defect on my doors, that's why I decided to have the Revdex.com involved.

Desired Outcome

If PGT refuse to correct this manufacturing defect in our master bedroom sliding door, than refund us our money, this upgrade option wasn't cheep, in fcat it is very expensive for a defective sliding doors, either the fix/replace our doors or refund us the 7500.00 we paid.

PGT Innovations Response • Feb 26, 2018

PGT has agreed to cover the cost of labor on this one time warranty issue. The Customer in this case has accepted the offer and will contact a servicing distributor to complete the service.

Customer Response • Feb 26, 2018

I am waiting for PGT to include the labor part, because the offer PGT provided is not acceptable, I paid allot of money to my sliding doors as a big upgrade option, it is not fair I would be stuck paying for the labor and they will only cover the parts portion, on a failure that is already existed and pending since day one!! I can understand if the issue I am having with my doors is new and started all of a sudden than I would be responsible for the labor, in fact about 6 months after the last replacement my panels started to fail again and I reported right way to the builder, specifically when Solar Tide technicians (3 different techs) advised me more than once that there is a known defects with my type of sliding doors, otherwise I would have problems with all my other sliding doors (different type) which I don't. Also this banging noise happening lately more frequent due to the cold temperature we are having, I was sitting on my sofa last night next to the doors and heard it coming exactly from the glass (it was load!!) that I also wanted PGT to be addressed.

Sliding glass door not sealed properly. Small flying insects coming into house. Door too big for opening. Wallboard damaged.
acc't *** order #XXXXXX Purchased 3/30/17, delivered & installed 5/17/17, item sXXXXXXXXXXX
authorized seller- Coastal Supply, *** sw *** ave., Delray Beach. Fl
Flying insects are attracted to my computer screen at night and find their way in around the door. I let this go for several weeks but it has reached the extremely annoying stage as I am spending way too much time trying to swat them. This should not happen with alleged quality door.
The original quote for install was $200 which included replacing old door with new. The rep came to professionally measure opening for door and said that concrete would have to be cut from bottom in order for door to fit. I agreed to pay extra $200 for this work. It was my understanding that contractor was not responsible for rotted wood, drywall, paint. However, this door was specially measured and ordered tailor made for my house. The door was clearly too big for the measured opening and the installer had to cut a larger opening. In so doing. the drywall inside the house has been damaged all around the door and stucco outside was chopped out. The opening required for the door to fit could not have been measured correctly for reasons described above. The installers were experienced and professional but the door was too big for the opening. As a result they had to extend the opening. They screwed in new lumber so the door could be attached to it. However the inside drywall was cut away on the inside and the stucco chopped out on the outside all around the sides and top of the door.
I sent an email to PGT Ind explaining this problem and received reply asking me to send pictures which I did. I did not hear from her again. She will not return my phone calls nor will she answer my emails. Likewise, their authorized seller, Coastal Supply will not return phone calls nor will they answer emails.

Desired Outcome

Please fix the door so that flying insects can not enter my home. Please repair the inside and outside walls that were damaged because of bad professional measurements either on the part of Coastal or PGT.

PGT Innovations Response

PGT Consumer Affairs spoke with the homeowner and that the issues he was experiencing were all dealer related.
Based on the information provided by the homeowner the product size/dimensions submitted to PGT Industries were incorrect.
Homeowner was very satisfied with our conversation and would contact dealer for further follow up.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I will accept the response if this matter is resolved with the dealer, Coastal Ind.

PGT Innovations Response • Jan 08, 2018

PGT again spoke with the homeowner and spoke with the Distributor regarding this matter. The 2 parties agreed to contact one another to discuss a resolution to the issues.

Customer Response • Feb 05, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Coastal Ind is authorized rep for PGT the manufacturer of the door. I chose Coastal because they were on PGT list of dealers. PGT states that Coastal is responsible for the problems as stated in my complaint. I was told that Coastal would work it out with . Coastal will not return my phone calls. In my opinion PGT should ensure that their dealers stand behind what they sau.

Warranty dennied
Three yr ago I bought PGT windows for my house through a Miami based dealer, and 15 days after installation one window got cracked. I contacted them and they came to replace the damage unit. Now, about two weeks ago we found another broken glass in the front of our home, we called to the dealer who installed our windows (Yamill Glass Windowsm Inc), and a salesman referred me to
a PGT customer service, who in the first time accepted to replace the window, but the shipping and installation costs would be at my owo expenses. I accepted, but two days after I received a letter where they let me know that my glass was out of warranty. I responded that my windows just have 3 yr since installed, and their warranty commitment is for 10 yr. They argued that I have to pay in full the glass because they only covered the first year. I have my written warranty and the original signed contract with them, but they not are accepting warranty claims no longer.

Desired Outcome

What I am looking for is that this company who sells high priced windows, and under a warranty, they have to honor it. Is their fault that the workmanship of their products are causing the windows failures. I chose them to buy my windows for my house because I understood they are an accurate company, and with the highest quality control on their products. I bought my impact doors from Lawson, and these guys are awesome, never had a problem with my doors, and I regret I did not buy my windows from them as well.

PGT Innovations Response

PGT Consumer Affairs and the Homeowner have spoken by phone regarding the complaint. A detailed explanation of PGT's warranty in regards to glass breakage was given to the homeowner. Glass breakage is not covered by the warranty as a manufacturer/ material defect, either by impact or breakage due to external stress (stress crack). The homeowner is contacting a local window repair company to inquire about replacing the glass.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)No, I don't accept their resolution because my glass as I explained them clearly, wasn't break by any hit caused by us, the windows became suddenly cracked because they are using cheap material and the workmanship lacks of good quality control. Now the problem I do have is that I can't switch to another impact windows provider to replace my cracked window because mostly of the companies I contacted for, declined to repair and replace such glass because is not convenient for them. So, finally I have to spend from my pocket all the money to buy again a new glass to PGT, because I have not other choice. I feel disappointed with this company, unfortunately I was trapped by their salesperson who promised me a lot of things that they know won't fulfill later. PGT lacks of seriousness and professionalism.

Help getting defective windows replaced and replacement of roller and weather stripping for sliding door.
We purchased PGT hurricane windows and sliding doors for our hoe from M&A Windows, the installation was completed on 4/10/14 with a 10 year warranty on windows and 5 year on moving parts. The 2 bathroom windows have the white film privacy glass, both were installed with cracks and were replaced. We noticed small bubbles and scratch marks in the film after a year and now after 3 years they have gotten worse. The problem is a defect in the manufacturing of the windows. In addition one of the sliding doors has a roller issue and the weather stripping has fallen out. M&A was contacted on 7/28/17, then 7/31/17 when Aaron set up a service ticket stating PGT would be out in 6 weeks to fix the problems. 8/17/17 sent pictures to Aaron at M&A. 10/10 emailed Aaron for status, no reply. 10/25 called PGT and spoke to Katie. She emailed copy of note to Aaron from 8/4/17 stating M&A must handle problem since older than 1 year. Tried to reach M&A no answer to phone or emails. 10/29 emailed Katie at PGT asking for help since Aaron wasn't responding, no response from her. 10/31 spoke to Aaron and asked about 8/4 email from PGT, it rang a bell. He spoke to Jonathan at M&A they would order the windows on 11/4 and would take 4-6 weeks to receive. M&A doesn't want to install the windows. He stated they are too busy to do service and recommended I have someone else do the work it would be a $150 service fee. 10/31 emailed Katie at PGT explaining my frustration and wanted to know if she could tell me who could install the windows. My complaint is the lack of interest from everyone to rectify defective windows. I am not even sure M&A really ordered them since they have so little interest in customer satisfaction.

Desired Outcome

The solution is simple: Order the bathroom windows, install them and fix the sliding door in a timely manner.

PGT Innovations Response

The customer was provided with additional contacts to assist with the warranty repairs.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)The two contacts PGT gave me for service won't come into Fort Lauderdale. Find it hard to believe that a big city like Fort Lauderdale doesn't have anyone that will service PGT windows. There again doesn't speak well for the warranty

Window is leaking water after only two years. Leak is between the window glass and the window frame.
I ordered two large fixed windows for my home in August, 2015. Approximately September, 2017 I noticed a water leak on my ceiling inside of my house. I contacted the contractor that installed the windows along with the roofer. Between the two of them they discovered that the leak was not due to installation of the windows or the roof leaking. What they detected was that the window was leaking between the glass of the window and the actual window frame.
At that point I contacted PGT to find out what I should do. They informed me that I must contact the dealer I purchased the windows from. I told them that the dealer did such a bad job that I would not work with them again. Also, the dealer that I purchased the windows from was no longer a PGT dealer. PGT told me I need to have a dealer look at the windows and the dealer would contact PGT directly. PGT said they would only come to the house for a period of one year after installation of the windows, after that, my problem must go through a dealer.
I contacted a couple of dealers. However, no one wanted to get involved with my problem. On October 27, 2017, one of the dealers told me that if I did not purchase the windows from them, they would not help. At that point I called back PGT and asked what I should do. PGT told me that it was hard to get dealers out to my area and that I could use any window repair company. The company that I would be using would then obtain the material(s) to fix the window, the material(s) would be supplied by PGT, however, I would have to pay labor and any other charges that the dealer said.
It has been two years since the windows were ordered and installed. A leak in the window after that short period of time should not occur. PGT warranty is advertised to be 10 years. However, a leak between the window glass and the window frame sounds to me as a manufacturing or product defect and should be covered under the warranty without payment. If a window can leak within a two year period, the warranty put out by PGT is only for one year and should not say 10 years. Leakage between the glass and the frame of the window should not occur that soon unless there is a problem with the window itself. Windows are purchased to let sun in and keep water out. I find it very difficult to believe that a window can be manufactured and it will leak after two years and it is my problem and not the manufacturer. Also the windows are argon gas filled. I am not sure now if that gas is still there.
It would be nice if PGT would step up to the plate and stand behind the windows that they manufacture. The strategy appears to be that after the one year you will pay to have your problem(s) on the windows resolved regardless of what caused the problem. If this is the case, it is one of the worst warranties around. Windows are expensive items and are not expected to leak after two years.

Desired Outcome

I would expect that this is a defect of the actual product and PGT should repair the window at their expense. The actual windows (not including installation) was a little over $8,000. The cost of the actual windows are listed above but I do not know the installation costs. However, the cost was not cheap for two windows.

PGT Innovations Response

The PGT Sales team is working with the distributor to help inspect and repair the issues.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I received several calls from the PGT distributor in my area. He has tried to find a PGT dealer to come out to my house and look at the problem. At this point no one has come to my house. One dealer could only give me a two hour notice and I was not at home when he wanted to come. He said that he is booked for another four weeks. I spoke to the PGT distributor about what the dealer said and the distributor said he will try to get another dealer to my house and will also talk to PGT home office. Today is 12/19/17 and I have not heard back.

I explained to the PGT distributor that I have three things working against me here:

1. I do not have a PGT dealer that sold me the windows because they did such a bad job and also are no longer a PGT dealer.

2. Since I do not have a PGT dealer any other dealer does not want to handle a defective window or does not come to the area that my house is in.

3. PGT will only send their (PGT) repair people if it's within one year of purchase. My windows are two years old. Since they are two years old, I have to use a dealer, which I don't have.

My conversations with the PGT distributor have not been the best. He has told me that a leak in the window is not under warranty since there is no mention of leaks in the warranty document. I explained to him that the intent of a window is to let sunlight in and keep the weather out. I believe that a leak between the glass and the frame of the window should be covered under an implied warranty on the item. It is a defect in material and/or workmanship of the window.

The distributor also said that since the contractor put caulking on the glass to stop my ceiling from getting further damage, that the warranty is null and void. I mentioned to him that in the warranty document it states that PGT is not responsible for any damage done from their product. Since PGT is not responsible for fixing the ceiling from water damage, I have the right to protect the ceiling and stop the leak temporarily until the window is fixed the correct way. If I had waited for PGT to fix the windows my ceiling would have fallen down since the window is still not fixed.

Overall I am very dissatisfied with PGT and the treatment I have been getting. A two year old window should not leak between the glass and the frame and PGT should step up to the plate and fix the leak. Unfortunately the window is still not fixed. PGT says it has one of the best warranties for windows; however I beg to differ with them. I have been battling this issue for about three months now and there is no reason I should have to go through this. If PGT does not fix a leak in their windows what good are the windows and how good is their warranty?

PGT Innovations Response

PGT is looking for a dealer to assess the situation for the consumer and report back as this will assist PGT in making a determination as to how to proceed from here.

PGT said they will fix the problem. However, the problem has not been fixed yet and they have not given me a date that it will be done.

PGT Innovations Response • Sep 11, 2019

After reviewing the service data, the issues the H/O was concerned about were outside of PGT's serviceable issues, as they were install related. H/O was advised to speak with another dealer that handles install issues.

Customer Response • Sep 20, 2019

This reply was taken verbally by Revdex.com:

The company replaced the original leaking window a long time ago. The company send a distributor and took care of that issue. I do have another window that is leaking and would like the company to send a distributor out to determine if the issue is the window or with the installation.

GLASS LESS THEN THREE YEARS OLD AND COMING APART INSIDE WILL NOT TRANSFER WARRANTY ON THIS ONE TYPE OF GLASS
RECENTLY BOUGHT HOUSE NOTICED INSIDE OF WINDOWS COMING APART HAD CALLED TO TRANSFER WARRANTY FOUND OUT THAT THIS PARTICULAR GLASS WAS NOT COVERED I UNDERSTAND WHY THEY KNOW THAT THIS IS A SUBSTANDARD PRODUCT WANT THEM TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY LIKE OTHER PRODUCTS

Desired Outcome

WANTING THEM TO COVER UNDER TRANSFER WARRANTY LIKE REST OF OTHER PRODUCTS

PGT Innovations Response

PGT's residential warranty reads: "PGT Custom Windows + Doors (PGT), warrants to the original single family residential homeowner...", "and for only so long as the original owner owns and resides in the home where the windows and doors are installed". The warranty does not transfer to any subsequent owner of the home.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)The product is defective and the company should behind it. When I called they told me on phone that what is happening to my doors is common. This is the reason they won't stand behind this product

My home was built in 2006 with no expenses spared. PGT Winguard impact windows were installed throughout. By 2012 we started noticing evidence of water infiltration in several areas under windows. We first thought is was cracked stucco or the window frame to wall seal. Those issues were address when the house was painted three years ago. After several heavy rains the water damage was more obvious than ever. That's when we discovered that it is actually the windows them selves leaking. The glass to frame seals have shrunk allowing water to penetrate. In addition, the nylon brackets that hold the hurricane latches have all cracked and need replacement. I contacted PGT. Their response: Sorry. There is no warranty. As the second owner it is not transferable. This is not a product I would ever recommend or use again.

PGT on notice about a warranty issue of gas leak in window on door to patio, which turned window cloudy. Hurricane impact window & door compromised.
This claim piggy backs claim made to installer of impact window/door, subject to warranty. Revdex.com complaint # XXXXXXXX.
Hurricane impact door with gas in window leaked starting in 2011-2-16. Tried to notify PGT and was told by company they had no customer service department, nor someone in our area to service it. We called the installer who took years to respond to our complaint. PGT is again on notice and responded to the 10 year warranty claim by us, contacted installer, Fountain, and we are stuck at the point of no one responding. And we spent thousands of dollars on this hurricane impact door/window that has leaked out the gas that provides the impact protection in storms.
We want the window replaced as agreed by PGT, and if Fountain can't or won't do it as agreed, then someone else has to be contracted by them to do it. This includes the reason the door does not close and lock properly.
In summary, everyone got paid well for this project. We are seniors and cannot afford to replace this door again.

Desired Outcome

Both manufacturer and installers agreed to honor the 10 year warranty. We need this to be scheduled in the next 30 days and to make it happen.

PGT Innovations Response

The issue mentioned in the Revdex.com complaint is currently being addressed per the product warranty.

Customer Response

I was not able to read the business' response completely, but in the meantime there have been new developments that extend the claim.
PGT recommended a glass company to replace warrantied glass. They had to go through a review to be PGT contractors. Glass Co. gave me estimate of replacement cost for labor, which included travel X 2 from Sanford to beachside where we live. Very prohibitive pricing ($960). Then Fountain Enterprises, the company that did original installation (XXXXXXXX) responded to my complaint that he never responded to several years of telling him of the door. He got the original order # and then ordered the glass, but refused to reglaze because I filed Revdex.com complaint.
All I want is for the glass to be replaced as per the warranty without the added drama, but BY THE WARRANTY TERMS.
I have not heard from PGT further about this issue, nor have they responded to the issue of another slide out window that has a broken arm and needs replacing (fOUNTAIN SAME INSTALLER).
Would PGT please respond regarding this window as well? All info has been provided to the customer service rep for PGT, Brian K.
I need to know what PGT is doing.
Respectfully

Customer Response

Kristen Blue,
There is one issue still outstanding for PGT. There is a right outswing window that has a broken hinge, and the window, when opened comes off the hinge. The original installer is too busy (Fountain Enterprises) to bother. But a new window has to be ordered as part of lifetime warranty, and can be installed by Glass Doctor (who installed the door window that had the gas leak).
Thank you for your continued follow up to this matter.
Sincerely,
***
Case # XXXXXXXX

PGT Innovations Response

If a part is under warranty, the part will be supplied to a servicing dealer at no charge. If a part is not covered by warranty, the part would not be covered, but PGT can still supply the part at the sale price. The order was placed in 2008 and the insulated glass unit and moving parts are covered by a lifetime warranty. The repair company chosen by the homeowner would need to order that part using the original sales order and PGT will provide that part at no cost.

The windows and door seals in the sun room from PTG have all failed. I have contacted them several times with no success.
Widows and one door in a sun room manufactured by PTG have failed , the seals have broken. The room was installed by one of their distributors who at the time was also putting a large addition onto my house. I paid the contractor for the entire job ,addition to house and sun room. I have sent to PTG the contractors name , copy of the room design from PTG and a copy of the blue print. I have also sent them pictures of the windows with there label . The contractor is out of business so I can not contact them. I know the windows are under a warranty but PTG will not help since I do not have a receipt. I have all the data necessary to confirm the product is theirs and I can if necessary have one of their current distributors inspect the room. I also believe they have in their records the purchase of the room through the contractor. Currently they will not respond to any e-mails. Please help.

Desired Outcome

I would like the windows and door replaced before they crack and brake. I am told since the seals are broken the windows will eventually crack and come apart.

PGT Innovations Response

PGT's Consumer Affairs department is currently in contact with homeowner to determine issue, gather information, and recommend best course of action.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
They are only will to pay 50% of the glass but their warranty says 100%. Their reason is because they do not have the records from the contractor who installed the room. When the room was installed the contractor was a distributor for PGT. I should not be penalized because they do not have records of their own distributor. I paid for building the room and they want me to pay again for their product which has failed. Does not seem fair to me. They have been given all the records to verify the construction of the room , pictures of the labels in the windows which identifies PGT and window type and the name of the contractor ( who is no longer in business).
I am having one of their current distributors come and look at the windows to determine size for ordering. The current distributor will confirm the defective windows , confirm it is a PGT product and give me a cost to install.
The product with out question is defective and should be replaced at 100% . There is a potential for the windows to crack and shatter which is a safety hazard ,therefore this needs to be resolved .

PGT did get in touch with me, the number they were using was a land line not in use. They are still only willing to pay 50% of the glass cost and I have to find a distributor of theirs to replace the glass. Glass replacement costs are in the thousands and I do not have glass cost yet. My feeling is : I have many double pain insulated windows in my house which are not fogged and many are older than the PGT`s windows. Therefore , I believe most products on the market will last with out fogging and that the PGT product I have is defective and/or poorly manufactured.I believe they should own up to their defective product and replace the windows.

Customer Response • Nov 03, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I hope Iam not repeating my self but PGT is only willing to provide the glass at 50% and I must pay to have it installed . I have not received a price for the glass but the replacement cost alone is in thousands of $ one estimate at $ 5,000.00. I have many double pain insulated glass windows in my house which are not fogged . Also many are much older than the PGT windows. I feel that since 90% of the PGT windows are fogged that the product is defective and should be fully replaced. I could understand if 1 or 2 windows had a problem but not 15, therefore my conclusion is that the product is defective and/or poorly manufactured and PGT should replace the windows.

PGT Innovations Response • Nov 25, 2019

I have been actively searching for a dealer out of state for H/O to work with. We do stand by our warranty and will cover 50% of the glass costs, but labor costs are the responsibility of the H/O.
