Penn Credit Corporation Reviews (498)

Review: I am writing regarding a debt occurred in 2012 at a toll station, which was paid promptly after it was incurred. For the better part of two years my husband has sent proof multiple times that the debt was paid. However, PennCredit has ignored all proof and continues to threaten to ruin my credit if I do not pay $133.00 (the original amount of the toll being a few dollars). This amounts to extortion.

Sequence of Events:

My husband used my car and drove through the toll. Our [redacted] account had an old credit card on file, which caused our account to not be replenished as usual. Once we became aware of the situation, we updated the account with a new credit card. The credit card was updated and the past due toll was deducted from our account. We were sent us a letter saying that we violated the toll, we replied that money had been added to the account and the past due amount had been paid/deducted from our account (standard practice). Initially we were told that the debt would be taken out of their system, but we continued to receive letters and phone calls. For two years, we have sent proof over and over again—both to the Delaware Department of Transportation and to PennCredit. For two years they have ignored all proof time and time again and have now begun to threaten that if we don’t pay the account will be “charged off” affecting my credit even further.

It is unconscionable that a company would be able to extort money for a paid bill by threatening to ruin a person’s credit.Desired Settlement: PennCredit and Delaware Department of Transportation must immediately correct this error in their system and notify us that the error has been corrected. Furthermore, both companies must cease further threats to my credit and correct any reports made to the credit bureaus due to their error.

Review: I received a collections notice from this company for [redacted] for a bill dated in 2009. We sold the property and moved in September 2008. I never received any bill or other notice of collections until this one. This month. I do not believe this is a legit bill.Desired Settlement: Ideally I don't owe this money. The home was sold and the new owner would have taken over the water bill.

Review: Never received the book I ordered from [redacted] on Crotchet. I was contacted by [redacted] asking for payment twice by phone. I explained to them both times that I never received the book. They said that the book was delivered. Let me state for the record that I never received the book - if they delivered the book on Crochet that I ordered (over a year ago) to someone it was not me. I did get a bill for it, however - which I did not pay as I did not receive the book and had reported it to the company. Penn Credit has also been told multiple times we didn't get the book. Instead we have been receiving four to five harassing calls from 8AM to 9PM every single day. [redacted] insisted I had received the book I ordered when I have not. At this point I don't even want the book if delivered. They did not respond to my very legitimate complaint of not wanting to pay for goods I did not receive. I was turned over to Penn Credit and they have not followed up on my complaint.Desired Settlement: I want [redacted] to remove any charges relating to this. I want Penn Credit to change their policy on the number of collections calls - four or five collection calls a day is harassment and illegal even if I owed a bill, which I do not. When Penn Credit was told they collecting for goods not received they took no action on my complaint. While I feel that they owe far more than an apology, and a promise to never contact me again, but it will have to do.

Review: Today I received a call from a lady immediately demanding $285 for a delinquent medical bill that is actually in good standing. Before this call I have not received any written correspondence of an attempt to collect a debt. Upon questioning the caller of scamming, she rudely hung up. After retrieving the number form caller id, and returning their call to check the legitimacy of their claim, I received rude, incompetent, and abusive representatives. A supervisor said the harassing calls would continue until the debt is paid, no excuses. Yesterday, a lady from this company called and questioned family members of my personal schedule as to when they could reach me, which is also an invasion of privacy. They are using extortion techniques to obtain money and violating personal privacy in their information gathering.Desired Settlement: This company needs to have fines imposed for fraud practices and invasion of privacy. They are using extortion techniques to steal money without written proof of a legitimate claim supplied to their victim. Also please post this complaint for public notice as to alert consumers of their unfair and illegal practices.

Review: I received a letter from PennCredit stating that I owed money for a traffic violation. Because the stated violation is three years old and I have received no communication about any violation for the three years, I was suspicious whether this was a legitimate bill. I called PennCredit, after getting my mail after being out of the country for several months, and asked them to explain the charges on the bill. I was harassed and abused by staff who accused me of lying, cheating, and refusing to follow proper procedure. I emphasized that I had called them (rather than them calling me, which showed I was taking responsibility) and wanted to know what the charges were for and what the original violation was about. Instead, after accusing me of lying, the person hung up on me.Desired Settlement: I would like an explanation of the charges and proof that this is a legitimate claim from a legitimate company. Because PennCredit is not a member of Revdex.com and there have been complaints filed with them before, I want to ensure that this is not a scam. I would also like an apology for the abusive behavior on the phone call.

Review: A automated system keeps calling my house announcing it has important business matters to discuss with a "[redacted]" but doesn't give me the opportunity to speak to someone and/or respond that they have the wrong person/telephone number. The only way I could find out who's calling was to press '1' stating that I'm that person and it says to call [redacted] regarding [redacted].Desired Settlement: I want the business to add "If we have reached you in error, press the number 'X' in their automated messages and I want [redacted] placed on their do not call list.

Review: I had a traffic ticket that had been sent over to this collection agency. I have paid for my ticket and in need of a d-6 clearance form to reinstate my drivers license. I was told that I needed to get the form from penn credit. Penn Credit has informed me that I need to contact this woman who is a representative of theirs but is not located in their office to get the form and the only way to get a hold of her is through email. I have emailed her several times with no response. They have not offered me any solutions to resolve this matter other than just keep emailing her. I was told that there are people who are waiting to receive their forms from back in Dec. and Jan. So since I paid mine at the beginning of Feb. I asked if it would take a few months for me to receive mine and they said they didn't know how long it would take to get it. I paid my fine with them on Feb 11 and it is March 4. Almost a month later.Desired Settlement: I would really appreciate if the d-6 form could be faxed to [redacted] at this number [redacted] and to be emailed to me at [redacted] or mailed to me at 3[redacted]

Review: We have received calls for at least a year from Penn Credit looking for [redacted]. We do not know any such person and have repeatedly told this to the collections person. The calls have increased recently to 4-5 a day and we have asked to be removed from their list at least 10 times. Over the weekend we received three early morning calls each day in addition to several other calls each day. I called Penn Credit this morning and was told that [redacted] they would remove our phone number from that account but this person could give our phone number for any of her bad debts. When I asked if our phone number was on other accounts, I was told that they could not give that information. When I asked for further explanation, he hung up on me. I called back and reported to a supervisor.Desired Settlement: I would like for my phone number, ###-###-####, to be removed from any collections by Penn Credit for [redacted].

Review: I was sent a notice from Penn Credit Union on Friday, August 2nd in regards to a debt they were collecting on. I called the 1-800 number listed on the notice and spoke to a woman. I indicated that I was goin to be paying the balance due of 203.44 by the end of August. The woman went on to claim that I owed more than what was reflected on the notice that I held in my hand. She went on to say that another notice had been sent in the mail (which I had not received) and more interest had been added. I explained to the woman that I was simply calling to let them know that I would be paying the bill and I would not be paying any more than what was reflected in the bill I had. This woman was very rude and disrespectful. She hung up on me.

I did call back and spoke to a manager who gave me the ID number of the woman which is [redacted].Desired Settlement: Explanation...

Review: A message was left on answering machine. No reasonable person could understand the computer generated "name" of the individual the company was trying to contact. I called to 800# out of curiosity...only to learn that it was a collection agency. In my first call, I kept it very cordial and professional. Explained to the CSR that I couldn't understand the message, since the computer generated name was so muffled, it was totally undecipherable. The CSR looked up the number from which I was calling, I don't know why you are receiving the calls, your phone number isn't in the system."

The company called again today. I called the number again. I asked the CSR why I was continuing to received phone calls, based on my previous discussion. I asked for the Name & Business ID of the company. The CSR said they would transfer me to a supervisor, only to drop my call...REALLY?!?!? Unfortunately, my phone demeanor now shifted to annoyed...but kept it civil. Called back and the next CSR "[redacted]" said they were looking for a [redacted]. I explained that we have had this number for 10 years. She said she would delete my number out of the system. Hmmm, sounds similar. I asked again for the Business ID, she transferred me to her supervisor, [redacted]. I explained the situation. The supervisor wouldn't give me the Business ID number. She asked why I needed it, I explained that I was going to file a complaint. She said she wouldn't give it out for miss-dialed number. I corrected her that the computer doesn't miss-dial numbers.

I called back again, this time the CSR gave me their business address and Tax ID#[redacted]. If the first person took care of the annoying calling issue and gave me the info, I probably would have dropped the issue, unless, of course, the calls continued.Desired Settlement: If the calls don't stop, I'll file another complaint with the Justice or Commerce Department. I don't believe that these companies practices should invade my privacy, when the issue has nothing to do with me or my family.

Review: I had a past due balance with [redacted] which was paid on 3/4/13. On 3/15/13, my information was given to Penn Credit. This account had previously been with [redacted], who is which I paid in full and my account was closed. Subsequently Penn Credit reported this debt to all 3 credit bureaus, which is false information as my account was paid in full prior to their reporting.

I had contacted Penn Credit in May '13 re: this issue after I received a bill in the mail. I explained that this had already been paid and I was not understanding how they got my information. Penn Credit told me I needed a "paid in full" receipt from [redacted]. I contacted [redacted] who stated they would send me a paid in full receipt in the mail. However, this was never received (I will file a complaint re: [redacted] as well). I never received further contact from Penn Credit until viewing my Credit reports and seeing that this was reported to all 3 credit bureaus and was still listed as being a delinquent account. I attempted to contact Penn Credit with no further resolution. I then contacted [redacted] and [redacted] called both [redacted] and Penn Credit to assist me as they have the account paid in full. She spoke with [redacted] at [redacted] and [redacted] at Penn Credit. [redacted] stated that a paid in full receipt would be mailed to me and [redacted] stated she would take this off of my credit reports. I have yet to receive either and these inaccuracies are still on my credit reports. I have disputed this with all 3 credit bureaus, but have since been having difficulty getting an apartment d/t this inaccurate outstanding debt. I also emailed Penn Credit re: this issue and have not received anything in return.Desired Settlement: This debt be removed from all 3 credit bureaus as well as Penn Credit to have this account closed.

Bill and continues to call and send mail for collections.s..I have also been hung twice including by a manager when asked for them to put [redacted] on the phone to settle this...they also are using false info claiming it to be law to try and collect.Desired Settlement: I would like to be taken off their list and for them to get this settled with [redacted] once and for all...I would also like for their company to be investigated for unethical practices as I have seen numerous complaints online with people who have a similar situation as I do...if you were to google pen credit and [redacted] you will see exactly what I am talking about

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Review: This is the second time I have received a notice for ID Number [redacted]. I called and advised them that I have never used the services of [redacted]. The rep who did not give a name didn't even ask me to verify my info she volunterilly gave out my full name and date of birth. I told her I never used their services and she said "Well I will note it but it wont go anywhere , your the only one who can file your taxes". Negative! The IRS actually filed my taxes for me that year because I was sick in the hospital when they are stating these services were rendered. This is my WRITTEN notice that this debt is not mine!Desired Settlement: You are to close this file and advise your client this is not me. Do not contact me anymore or I will sue you .
