Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
Find attached three scanned documents, one of them of the one of the two pages of the contract in question = notice the small print that no one reads entirely, really - I had no idea that I could not cancel the membership and get a full refund (and I did not plan to cancel either...) the salesperson DID NOT specify it during the day of the contract signing, otherwise I would have never committed to such expense for getting nothing at the end anyway. I attended ZERO event E&A organized and I cancelled within working days, out of a 6-months membership "commitment" it seems like a very reasonable and RESPONSIBLE time for E&A to reimburse me for the full amount. My reasons for cancelling were stipulated in my CERTIFIED letter that conveniently and supposedly, never received (attached scan of my receipt). My reasons were FINANCIAL and PERSONAL (and besides the point) I don't believe I have to justify to a business the specific reason in order for them to honor my refund request. On the top of $1,that were charged to my card, I paid an additional $for events I did NOT attend and cancelled well ahead of time (not the day before). This entire deal is simply unprofessional, unacceptable and outrageous, and is a total scam in my eyes. I also STIPULATED that I was not wanting to "freeze" the membership yet, they keep offering it as an option? The email conversation about the cancellation was very brief and curt (from Danielle M***) until I threaten to contact the Revdex.com about their business practice and, Yelp for a bad review. However, the answer I received remained "no refund" at all.*** ***

Please see attached response!
Ms*** sent a letter to our office to cancel on 12/14/2016, a full week after theexpiration of the cancellation period she had agreed to in writingHer request to refundhad nothing to do with our product or service but for some unspecified personal reason.Ms
*** documented that she sent us a certified letter December 14th
Unfortunately somehow it was misplaced and not responded toOnce we were aware ofMs*** attempt to cancel we immediately reached out to remind her of thecontract and her optionsWe very much regret the letter was not responded to sooner, however the oversight in response did not change her cancellation options in any way.All of our events have a cancel by date listed clearly on the calendar for members toreview prior to and after sign upIncluded in that information is the “cancel by” datewhich is normally the day before we have to pay the vendor for the members spotMs.*** did cancel both events before the event date but after the date to receivecredit
As she did not send her certified letter within the contractual time frame agreed to we willnot be issuing a refundWe can however offer to freeze the member’s account at thistime, the membership access will be on hold and Ms*** can use full themembership at a later time after whatever personal situation she ran into has run itscourseWe always encourage new members to attend multiple events to truly have thebest experience in the clubWith 30-events each month we offer a variety of activitiesand events to choose from and hope that Ms*** will allow us to help her get themost from her membershipWe have attached the contract and payment history forreviewWe encourage the member to reach out to us and let us know whenever shewishes to utilize the rest of her membership
We have no record of any cancellation request within the first three business days, not even a phone callWe previously advised Ms*** if she can provide any documentation that she did call to cancel within the time frame we can review her account againPlease have Ms*** provide us any documentation of this so we can try to resolve her account!
Company’s Response:Ms*** signed up with our San Francisco office on 10/6/for an month contractHer payments began to decline on our end and we reached out to her for updated information and received no responseUnfortunately after over days of being past due the account was sent to
our collections agency Keynote ConsultingHer account is now in their hands and any outstanding balance must be addressed with them directly. In regards to demographics our contract specifically states we make no guarantees on any demographic, other than that our members are legally singleWe do apologize if Ms*** felt we somehow misrepresented ourselvesWe do not discriminate against any sex, sexual orientation, race etc as that would be illegalWe welcome people of all ages and paths to our club as long as they are legally single and wish to use our service. We did not receive any written cancellation request per the contracted terms but did not ever bill any card of Ms***’s as she provided cash on her down paymentI have attached the contract for Ms*** for review as wellAny settlements or further action must be taken with Keynote Consulting
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me
Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: I did call and the woman who sits at the front desk KNOWS I CALLED! I contacted my phone company for proof but was told that they can't retrieve calls to that month! I DO NOT NEED TO LIE! I sitting in the office and deliberately told the interviewer that I do not have a job and won't be able to make payment therefore I would prefer not to join and I was thoroughly coaxed to join and was even convinced of a lower rate being presentedEven after this I did admit that I do not have the funds and I was coaxed to make a $non-refundable deposit to which I did! I have NEVER BEEN ON THEIR WEBSITE, I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO ONE OF THEIR EVENTS! When I called the following day I told the woman that I wished to cancel, I even reminded her that I was the woman from the previous day and she told me that she can't cancel the membership, the person who interviewed me had to do so and he is out for lunch! This company needs to recognize that their business attitude to swindle people out of money is unfair! They need to recognize when an individual admits to not being in a position to pay their exhorbitant fees, they need NOT force the issue!
*** *** signed up with out company on 01/16/in our Phoenix officeShe signed a legal and binding contract stating she would pay the $for the membership, we had waived all dues payments for her as wellThe contract has no clause for a refund or waiving the balance owed due to
marriage, the balance remains owedHer account was sent to collections in February for the membership balance only, as dues would not be charged if someone has married out of courtesyThe balance remaining is $as she paid $upon sign upWe never received proof of marriage either, although we have already waived off any balances that would have been waived with receipt of a certificate.
Once an account is with *** *** we are supposed to refer them to the agency directlyThe account balance is no longer in our hands, it is with KeynoteThey can work out a settlement or payment plan for the member if she wishesTheir number is *** Attached are two notices to the member in regards to going to collectionsShe was aware the account would be going
Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: the company disregarded what I was complaining aboutI am upset because I was told during my interview that I would be able to quit at any timeBecause of this, I was willing to sign the contractHowever, that is not what the contract actually statedI have already stated I wish to sever my relationship with your companyI have absolutely no interest in attending any events with you, lowering monthly payments, or freezing my contractI filed the complaint because the settlement previously offered I find unacceptable given the services I have actually usedI am only interested in settlement options
*** *** signed up with us in our Phoenix office on 7/28/The statement is correct, Jimmy is no longer with usI can honor the $credit he had promised out of courtesy, although that is not on the legal contractI will reduce the balance owed to us by $The cancellation
policy is on the contract-the member has three business days to contact us in regards to cancellation to receive a refund and/or have the balance owed waivedThe member still owes $on membership and $480.00, a total of $2094.45, after the $credit has been appliedWe offered a settlement of $on this balance previouslyI can lower that offer to $to close the accountWe do apologize for any miscommunication from Jimmy if there was anyWe would like to resolve this as soon as possibleWe will need to receive the settlement soon as the account has not had a payment on it since 09/12/
Company’s Response:Ms*** joined our Santa Clara club in September for an month membership accessMs*** signed and agreed to the cancellation policy on the agreement of three business daysWe have attached this portion of the agreement below:We did not receive any request to cancel
from Ms*** within the cancellation periodIf she did request cancel within that time frame we will be more than willing to review documentation that a letter was sent to us per the agreementUpon receiving this documentation we can review the remaining balance on the agreement.Currently the balance owed is with Keynote Collections as we have not received a payment since November of Any settlement or payment plans on the remaining balance will need to be arranged with their company directly at this pointTell us why here
Ms*** joined in our Vancouver location on 5/16/for a six month membershipThe agreement allows for three business days in order to cancel the account, via certified letter, we did not receive a letter however from Ms***Previously we advised Ms*** if she can provide us
with documentation of her attempt to cancel within the allotted time period we will be more than willing to review her balance againWe have attached that portion of the agreement below:We did not receive a request to cancel until 6/23/from Ms***, however we did reach out to her at that time and many times over the next four months in attempts to work out a resolution on her remaining balanceMs*** account was sent to collections in September of after many notifications and attempts to reconcile the account after many missed payments over many monthsMs*** did sign and agree to the agreement which lays out the total costs as well as monthly costs of membership and dues payments
Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: it is inaccurateIn the response, it states that I "attend and event on 6/- Hike, 6/- Mingle, 7/- Mingle, 7/- Comedy Club, 8/- New Member Ice Breaker.Mingle, 09/- Museum of Flight, and 11/- Archery." Not only is this bad grammatical usage, but it is not trueI have never been to a comedy club in the Seattle area and I did not attend the Museum of Flight with this groupIn addition, I only attended one mingleIn all, I only attended one hike, one mingle and the Archery trip.
The hike turned into a competitionMost of the group had been on previous hikes together and they all went off way ahead of about three of usOut of the three, I stopped at a place on the path where there was a viewpoint and waited for the rest of the group on the return tripThe others hiked on and joined the main groupOn the way back from the hike, most of the group decided to s top at a bar and have a few drinks before heading homeI and the three others, plus one of the leaders, headed back home.
The mingle I attended was at a restaurant/bar, and I made an additional purchase while thereThe younger group of folks had a much larger group of people in attendanceThe older group was small and many had obviously attended previous events together, so they grouped off after a short time and headed for the bar.
The archery had an additional cost ($35) which was covered by the credit I was givenAfterward, most of those in attendance headed out to get lunch together.
It was also only in October, after I contacted the group about my financial problems and raised concerns about the additional funds that were nearly always needed at events, that I was given a $creditThis credit in fact, allowed me to attend the archery sessionBut that was also when I was informed that I would not be let out of the contract and in fact, the only way they could do anything was if I sold the contract to someone else (i.esomeone else taking over the payments.) That was the only attempt made at catching up on payments or "working" with meThere has been no attempt on their part to work with me or to work something out - except to "sell" the membership or pay it in full.
When I spoke with ***, I even asked if the membership term could be reduced, which would reduce my payments, but he said that was not possible and in fact that was when he suggested "selling" the contract.
I don't feel that it is reasonable that I be made to pay for something I did not use, nor that it should be put on my credit as a bad debtWhen I inquired about the use of the membership payments (as most events have additional monies that are required) the question was brushed off as paying for overhead and suchI do not believe that this company is being honest in their sales tactics and that they are being very aggressive in their salesNo information about pricing is available until you get into the office and then there is a lot of pressure to not only sign up, but to sign up for the most expensive package they have. Sincerely,*** ***

I am rejecting this response because:I appreciate the effort on behalf of the Revdex.com to help me resolve this, unfortunately, the response / offer from Events and Adventures is less than satisfactoryTo address the issues directly:1) Cancellation policyThe three-business day cancellation policy (seriously? I didn’t even receive my online access until the next business day and there wasn’t an event I could go to until Friday the 12th)I was supposed to judge the entire company and its ability to gather people of similar interests together on attending a single event?) The cancellation policy was overridden by Jocelyn’s constant re-assurance that I could cancel at any timeThis was not presented to me again until I attempted to cancel this membership on Jan 30th after reviewing my contractAs stated in my original complaint the “sales person” a.k.a“membership counselor” continually reassured me that I could “cancel at any time”Was I not supposed to believe only part of what they were telling me?2) Settlement: I am not interested in a settlement or anything short of a complete cancellation of my account with no additional funds owed to Events and AdventuresI am not seeking recoupment of fund already givenI simply want to be done with this “company”.Supporting statement. In response to the claim that Jocelyn is one of their “best” membership counselors I would simply question to what standard they are trying promote and encourage? What does the “best” mean, contracts at any cost? Here is an additional account of my encounter with their “best”, but first a brief history of myself to better paint the picture. In (at the age of 9) I was diagnosed with leukemiaI spent the better part of the next five years going through the most horrific treatments any human being should have to (not an exaggeration, my team of doctors spent two years consulting worldwide on my case)This unfortunate time in my life left me smaller than the average person (currently 60” and lbs at age 21) and facially disfigured (My entire sinus cavity including all supporting structure to my nose was surgically removed in 2011)Spending years in either an Isolated hospital room or not able to leave my home has put me a bit behind the power curve on business and social normsI have only had one close relationship in my life and when that broke off, I took some time and decided to try other means of meeting people which eventually put me at the door of Events and AdventuresSo, to move on…In my interview with Jocelyn I was continually reassured that I could cancel at any timeThe reason I had to be continually reassured was because I repeatedly commented to Jocelyn that I didn’t make a lot of money and was unsure whether I could afford itI was so concerned about this that at one point I explained to her my income was less than $a month and the monthly fee of $or almost 20% of my income was a bit too far of a stretchShe assured me to “not worry about the money” and inquired about my budget per eventWhen I explained to her that the sum of fee’s and cost of events was more than I had in my bank she responded with“its O.k., its worth it” or something similarAlthough I lack the experience of having been in more than one of these “interviews” / interrogations I assure you I felt pressured to the point that I had to (do it) just to get out of the office. In all, my experience was disconnected and felt as though I was being interrogated rather than interviewedI was ushered out of the office seconds after paying my initial fee and left the building feeling puzzled, unsure of what had just happenedWas I just scammed? Well I guess we all know the answer to that one.If you would like to verify any of the information provided herein, please feel free to look for me on facebook.com, I’m the small guy with no noseI can also provide multiple references of my financial situation, emotions stress and physical wellbeing.I would also encourage the Revdex.com to look at the reviews that can be found onlineParticularly the lack of good reviews for this office and person in question.Thank you for your time and attention
Sincerely,

We have not received a response yet in regards to Mr***’s options we offered him to reconcile the accountIf Mr*** no longer wishes to utilize the membership we can offer him a settlement on his total balance remaining owed, lower his monthly payments, or freeze his membership time if that
would assist him in any way.We always encourage new members to attend multiple events to truly have the best experience in the clubWe have members from years old and up, and with 30-events each month we offer a variety of activities and events to choose from and hope that Mr*** will allow us to help him get the most from his membershipWe have attached the contract and payment history for reviewWe encourage the member to reach out to us and let us know what he wishes to do at this time
If the member did cancel within the first three business days from sign up and can provide some documentation of this, a call log or email we can review this in regards to the accountThe sign up date was 01/16/2015, Ms*** would have needed to contact us no later than 01/21/If we receive documentation we can review the account as soon as it is received
Wendy is no longer with the company, although I do see she did try to contact the member in January in regards to collectionsI apologize if there were any unanswered attempts to contact usThat is not regularHowever now that the account is with *** collections the member needs to contact them in regards to any questions on the account balance or can also contact us through the Revdex.com of courseThe account can be closed out if we receive proof of valid cancellation, otherwise the member will need to work with the collections agencyThe account was only sent for the membership, the dues were waived due to the member stating she would be getting married
Mr*** signed up in our Denver location on 8/5/for an month membership, at the discounted price of a one year membership because we had recently opened the Denver officeMr*** agreed to fulfill the full agreement and signed that he was aware of the cancellation policy as wellI have
attached that portion below:We did not receive a cancellation request until 8/21/2017, we never received a letter to cancel within the first business days per the agreementThe member representative who signed up this customer was aware of and discussed his father's stroke and the customer did not see it as a reason to not join the club The member representative did not at any time tell the customer that he would receive a refund of any kind outside of the contractual allowances When customers state they are unlikely to be in town for the term of the membership we sell them a smaller membership If they are going to be in town less than our smallest membership we do not allow them to join That is a firm company policy - over the past years we learned that people who are only members a very short period of time are the most likely to do something inappropriate during their membership and create the most problems for other members Because of that we do not sell memberships that are for less than the minimum length of time (months). We can however offer to downgrade him to a twelve month membership access for the price of a month for $1,in membership cost and payments of $duesThis would merit a refund of $on the agreement if Mr*** wishes to do so
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me
I am able and willing to settle this contract at a lower price than what is owedAs I have stated before I do not have the necessary funds to settle for a month of membership after what is needed to use for living expenses I currently have about $dollars of expendable finances.I do appreciate the work on behalf of the Revdex.com and Events And Adventures to settle this matterI would like to advise Events and Adventures to have a look at there cancellation policy to where if this were them how would they like the Business to handle things in a reasonable fashion as to not include third party's such as the Revdex.com or any other group
Sincerely,
*** ***
I have attached the payment history and the outstanding balance letterWe did also leave a voicemail before the account was even sent to collectionsI understand the member's concerns, however we have an outstanding balance- we offered a $settlement on the balance rather than the balance going to the collections agency and that was not accepted, we then offered a $settlement right before the account was scheduled to go to collections that was declinedIf the member wishes to accept the offer of $we can pull the account from the collections agency as a courtesy, however this offer is only available for the next days
*** ** *** signed up 9/1/with our Minneapolis locationShe agreed and paid in full for an month contract, I have attached the contract for referenceWe do interview everyone who wishes to join our club, we are a private singles groupWe do this to make sure that everyone we offer
membership to is indeed single, has no criminal history and is overall a good fit for our clubWe apologize if Ms*** felt in any way pressured to joinAll of our policies are outlined in the contract that was agreed toWe do honor cancellations for three business days upon request, however we did not receive a cancellation request until October 2016, a month after sign upWe did reach out to her and advise we would not be able to provide a refund at that timeMs*** membership is still open and available for her useWe would encourage her to reach out to the event manager, or we can have her reach out directly to Ms*** in regards to getting out to events again
[redacted] signed up with us in our Vancouver office in October 2012. We stopped receiving automatic payments in May 2013. The time period to cancel and no longer owe the balance requires contact within the first three business days from sign up.
The member is stating we advised her we...
would cancel her account with no balance owed. If she can provide documentation of that to us we would be more than happy to reevaluate the account and fix this issue for her if someone did misinform her, we will honor what was told to the member. Please have the member submit documentation of this to us. On our end we do not have any cancellation request in the system. The account was sent to Collections Group of Canada already. I have attached the contract.
