I requested service on my dishwasher on 4-5-15. I was contacted by the Contractor: [redacted] ** ([redacted]) [redacted] (Reference #:[redacted]). An appointment was set up on 4-14-15 and the issue was discovered by the technician. The Technician stated he needed a part to be ordered but AHS would have to approve it first. I did not receive any confirmation from [redacted] or AHS on my order status for several weeks, so I called [redacted] on 5-4-15 to check the status. I was advised by [redacted] appliance the part was ordered but hasn't come in yet, this would be the first time I am aware the part was approved to be ordered by A.H.S. As of 5-11-15 my dishwasher is still broken neither [redacted] or AHS has contacted me to advise me if the parts are in or not. AHS has willingly accepted my monthly payments and I held up my end of the deal paying on time. At this point I feel I am receiving poor service at best. Does it really take over a month to fix a dishwasher?
A warranty was purchased three months ago when I bought a new home. Since that time, one of my bathtub faucets became stuck in the 'on' position. Every time I needed to use the water, I had to turn off the main valve to the house. My main valve was made of flimsy parts and began leaking. I put in an order, but could not receive service for four days. I felt this was an urgent need as I was afraid my house was going to flood. As a result, I had to call a plumber on my own (N[redacted] P[redacted] and H[redacted] who came over the same day). Of course AHS wouldn't reimburse me.
My new dishwasher broke, and the AHS service company assigned could not respond for two weeks. When they did respond, they didn't have the correct parts. A month later, they returned and fixed the unit, but they left without securing the appliance to the wall and had to come back.
My garage door opener snapped a cable last week. I requested service, but I never received a call that a tech was even coming out until he called me at work to say he was at my house. I had him let himself in. After the unit broke, I threw the snapped cable away because it contained a sharp wire, and I felt it was hazardous...and obviously not functional. AHS says they will not repair the device until I pay for a new cable.
In general, this company gives good lip service, but the contractors they send out are less than professional. Communication is a habitual problem. Service and response time is slow. AHS seems to use every excuse not to cover coverable items. It's one excuse after another. If I had it to do over again, I would have banked the $600+ that was spent on the policy.
If you have a true emergency (water leak) or legitimate issues, AHS seems to find some way of weaseling out of actually providing any quality service whatsoever. I'd never purchase from them again...unless of course I experience a zombie apocalypse and I'm sure they'd send their best people right over.
Bought a Home in 2016 that came with a home warranty from American Home Shield. I have had numerous service requests on my heating and air to no avail. They only use one company, D[redacted] Heating and Air, and according to them an expedited claim IS an emergency claim but I will still have to wait for 24 hours longer before a technician will get here. I have had NO good experience with AHS from the start, and the things they are suppose to fix continuously need to be RE-fixed time after time. The companies they use are only interested in protecting the warranty company and not doing right by the consumer. You would be better off NOT purchasing a home warranty from AHS and just repairing things on your own, you will be able to use a more reputable company for your repairs.
First off let me start by saying teying to get ahold of them is like calling EDD. I eas on hold for 40 minutes last night twice! And I still cant get a answer when someone will come fix my dryer. There customer service is horrible and there communication with the company doing uour repair is horrible. I have them on my rental as well as my personal residence. Its time to switch I will be canceling my service just do to the fact I cant even get ahold of anyone.
Horrible customer service! Have no idea how they managed to be in business for so long!
American Home Shield is the WORST SERVICE. They affiliate with the worst contractors in the area who will keep you waiting all day, when you have to take time off work. Their contractors are HIGHLY INCOMPETENT. I HAD A FREON LEAK IN MY HOUSE FOR WEEKS DUE TO THE CONTRACTOR NOT EVEN ENTERING MY HOME THE FIRST TWO VISITS. AT THE THIRD VISIT, THEY Finally figured out IT WAS AN ENTENSIVE FREON LEAK IN THE ATTIC. I'VE BEEN SUFFERING FROM SYMTOMS OF FREON LEAK THE ENTIRE PERIOD. THIS IS GOING ON FOR OVER A MONTH IN 100+ degree weather, AND STILL NOT RESOLVED.
This is just one story, not to mention the other encounters with them for water heater, refrigerator etc.
PLEASE PLEASE BE EXTRA CAREFUL BEFORE YOU GET AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. YOU WILL DEFINITELY BE WASTING YOUR MONEY AND TIME!!!!
I have just bought my new home, my agent advised to get this insurance from AMS (600$ per year) to avoid any bad experience with appliances in the new house.
I have a built in double oven with conviction which turn to be randomly failing.
I called them, they tried fixing it twice but in both visits the recommendation was getting new one.
They got me a new one with same specification, model and dimension,
Its MSRP value is 4,199
All I have to pay was 75$, which is the fees for any visit
This company has been a nightmare to deal with. I don't know how they can continue to take money for home warranties and not perform. I have been trying to get an oven repaired for two months to no avail. Calls are not returned. I also called last fall for a furnace heat issue and the call was returned 3 weeks later after I had to call a contractor in order to have heat. I am not sue how Bob G[redacted] gets paid a salary of $1.1M with other stock options that bring his comp package to $2.2M and can sleep at night. This company needs to be fully investigated.
I moved in the new house, the center heater boke, and requested the serviced. the people they sent out cannot fixed. then they though me they needed to order new parts, and come out again, again and again for weeks now. the heater still broke. this is a cold winter. this is just a joke.
I have been with AHS since 1999 and when I n[redacted]ed them for a plumbing problem I did not get any thing but I know how you feel , I understand how you feel. But no help. I called in a request on Sunday night, received email with info on the Co. that had received my request, got home Monday night they had not called my wife who is home all day, so I called them and was told they only do work in my area on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and both were full for this week would be next week. I called AHS and advised I have been spending nights in hotels , lade called R[redacted] out of st joe mo and they will expedite and get it Tuesday after 3pm, Great , Tuesday at 6pm called R[redacted] Co will not get to it tonight and most likely not wed but will try??? Wed comes call R[redacted] Co. have not been able to get ahold of boss to see IF he can make it tonight but most likely NOT.. Called AHS talked to more people than I could write down was advised sorry but no one to call, I could call someone and pay up front then they will reimburse me. been staying the night in hotels at 129.00 a night were do I have money to spend don't even have money to sp[redacted] for one tonight so will be going to gas stations to use the bathroom NO shower and have to work.. just more run around POOR SERVICE ,now want me to pay for the service ????? what do I do now
BAD COMPANY I CANCELLED MY CONTRACT AFTER ONE MONTH WHEN THEY STOOD BY A CONTRACTOR long-lane AFTER I SHOWED THEM HE WAS CLAIMING MODIFICATIONS TO MY WATER HEATER AFTER I CHECKED HIS CLAIMS OF MANDATORY INSTALLATIONS OUT WITH FEDERAL STATUTES STATE COUNTY AND TOWNSHIP NO SUCH MANDATORY MODIFICATIONS EXISTED. they WOULD NOT REPLACE WATER HEATER BECAUSE THEY REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR CONTRACTOR Was overstating requirements Not only that but they never offered to reimburse me for the $100 deductible in view of the misrepresentations of their contractor
The warranty costs a lot and you will not get a goodservice provider when you need service IF you even get service. There customer service reps are rude and are no help in getting your service arranged telu of at all. They don't care once they have your money . They can't find good s Devi e people so you get someone from another city that has to. Travel over an hour to your home they don't give you the service they sold you. And they make sure the providers don't replace anything no matter what the situation. Don't buy the jaw warranties fr this company. And be caref the realtors are Connected to them and force this company on you.
Sent out a D rated plumber by the Revdex.com who only took pictures and AHS denied claim stating softner was exposed to weather - tech didn.t notice I had removed cabinet so he could take "pictures" Would not recommend AHS - first claim in 1 year for an item not costing more than $400
Dishwasher is broken for over 9 weeks already. 2 contractors tried to fix it. First did not know what they are doing at all. Took 5 weeks to send second one, who told that they can not fix the problem because it seems old appliance and not fixable. AHS promised to send a 3rd contractor still no word. every time calling AHS takes 2-3 hours on hold on a line. Still problem is not fixed. Seems they just waiting o stretch the time so our contract will expire so they will wash their hands. very unprofessional. Never will sign contract with them again.
An AHS warranty was "thrown in" at closing this fall when I purchased a condo. Some of the appliances and other mechanicals are old so I mistakenly thought this afforded me some protection. When my furnace broke on a cold night this February I was surprised to learn, as many other customers on this site, that AHS is incredibly slow in resolving issues and their contractors generally have awful reputations. No thanks AHS.
The absolutely worse. I beg of you, PLEASE do not get American Home Shield.
I am 8 1/2 months pregnant, in Texas, in 95 degree weather and it has been THREE WEEKS without an air conditioner. American Home Shield has gone back and forth on whether they wanted to repair our AC unit or buy us a new one. Because of this it has set us back THREE WEEKS.
We finally got the part in today and guess what... IT'S BROKEN and will take another 6-10 days to get another one. Called and talked to customer service rep, Candace, who proceeded to tell me if I didn't take a more 'professional' tone she would hang up on me. We are now proceeding to pay out of pocket so this has truly been the worst experience I could have ever imagined.
We have rental properties that we insure through this company. It is normally difficult to get things done through them as we live 1,000 miles away from the properties. We have had eventual success using them before. However it appears we will have to hire our own appliance repair company to go in and dismantle the stovetop that is broken in order to give AHS they serial number and info for replacing the stove top unit. Their "repair man" back in November said he was ordering a part for it. We got the royal run around and long story short their repair company could not be contacted by us or AHS after much trying. AHS claims however that it is not required of the repair company to get the info they need to get us a new stove top ordered and installed. This has dragged on almost 2 months now. I'd rate this as a negative experience even if we eventually get the info they should already have for which we already paid for in the initial service call. If this doesn't resolve this week I'll file a formal complaint. Very negative situation.
Bad Customer Service! The representative, Ashala, badge # [redacted] who answered the phone but did not assist me at all, had no customer service skills. She was rude and had no telephone etiquette. No solution to my issue was offered. I asked to speak with a manager and is currently on hold and have been on hold for 1 hour trying to speak with someone. The representative has not come back on the phone to say anything to me. I'm just listening to music. This is ridiculous. I will be cancelling my service. Ashala just came back on and said she is still waiting for someone to speak to me. I told her I've been waiting for an hour and can't wait no longer that I would call back later. I have been a loyal customer for 5 years and this is the treatment that is being shown. I will no longer give my money to this company.
Trying to get service from this company is very difficult. Online service requests were down last week and I waited 36 minutes to talk to someone in service (the recording said it would be 10 mins) and the staff member was very dismissive of my concerns
Just bought a house and the sellers have AHS to cover the appliances that were left in the house. Its a major struggle to get ANYONE on the phone (except sales people) When I did get to a service request person they told me that they couldnt find a contractor in my area (Im rural but not that rural) they told me that in 48 hours I would hear from them and set up my own contractor that they pay. Havnt hear anything in a week and still cant get anyone on the phone. SO frustrated. AND the websit will not acknowledge my contrat agreement.
