After a poor experience with my first loan company I turned to Mike at Academy from a recommendation from a co worker. My wife and I were on the verge of losing our home that we fell in love with. The previous company had pre approved us and then everything fell apart for no apparent reason. Then here came Mike and his team to the rescue. After a few brief conversations Mike was confident we could get back on track with the home buying process. In just 10 days Mike and Joe got us closed on the house we wanted. I can't speak enough about the professional manner and care that they handled this with. We went from the lowest of lows to the highest of highs in just a few days with the help of Mike and his team. I'd recommend him and Academy mortgage to anyone!

Everything was step by step not thrown all at once at me. I had no questions as to what was going on with my loan because they always kept me up to date. Jeremy S went over all the closing doc before I went to the title company, so when I got to the title company I knew exactly what I was signing.

Adam M, at Academy Mortgage, took so much of the stress out of the lending process by communicating with me throughout. He provided me with several options and when I decided to make a last minute change he was able to switch gears quickly and my loan was closed on time. On 8/21/2017 I filled a complaint with Academy Mortgage about customer service and concerns about my monthly payments going up due to my screw account. Before my complaint I was expecting a phone call from a supervisor 24-48 hrs someone was suppose to contact me. I wait it 3 days and I received no calls or emails. They even had a back up number to call me too. I
When I emailed the complaint an automated email was sent out to me that I will hear from someone in the next 24 hours. On 8/25/2017 at 8:05 am I received another email from email support representative Juanita Alexander stating my concerns have been acknowledged and forwarded to the appropriate department. Today is Saturday 9/2/2017 and I still have not recover call or email. My Mortgage is due on the 1st of each month with 15 days grace period and I need someone to contact me in regards to my frustration with this matter. Academy Mortgage do not treat their clients with respect apparently.

Academy Mortgage Corporation (“Academy”) received the subject complaint from the Revdex.com Servicing Utah (“Revdex.com”) on behalf of Ms. Antoaneta D. *** (“Ms.”) on September 2, 2017, regarding an escrow shortage. We appreciate the Revdex.com providing Academy with this complaint and allowing time to research this issue. We provide our research and response as follows:
Academy originated Ms.’s loan on August 20, 2016. On September 2, 2016, her loan was transferred to Academy’s Servicing Center; Cenlar FSB (“Cenlar”), where it is currently being serviced. Prior to the transfer, Academy sent the required RESPA notice of transfer to her mailing address that contained the updated payment related information for Cenlar. (See attached transfer notice). Although the transfer notice references Academy, it is actually Cenlar. As our sub-servicer, Cenlar services loans in Academy’s name, but the phone number and address are for Cenlar.
Ms. states that she filed a complaint on August 21, 2017 and was expecting a phone call from a supervisor. However, we do not have any record of receiving her complaint here at Academy. Furthermore, there is no Juanita A that works at Academy. We can only assume Ms. reached out to Cenlar who did not notify us of her concerns. We apologize if they have been unresponsive. For this reason we are grateful you have made us aware of Ms.’s concerns and provided us the opportunity to respond.
After receiving the complaint from you, our Loan Servicing Department reached out to Ms. on Thursday, September 7, 2017 to attempt to resolve her concerns regarding her escrow account. We were unable to reach her, so we tried again on Friday, September 8, 2017. We were told to try back in 30 minutes, but when we called back, we had to leave a voicemail. We tried to reach Ms. again on Monday, September 11, 2017, but our attempt was yet again futile.
Regarding Ms.’s escrow account, we believe the escrow shortage is accurate. Our records indicate that two disbursements for hazard insurance from her escrow account in the previous year. The first disbursement was on December 20, 2016 for $948.00, which was more than the anticipated $834.96. Another disbursement was made for hazard insurance on May 10, 2017 for $824.36. However, we have only received an escrow reimbursement for $660.00, which we received on July 27, 2017, resulting in an escrow shortage.
We have made multiple attempts to reach Ms. to explain the escrow shortage, but our calls have been ineffective. Therefore, if Ms. believes this is inaccurate or desires to obtain a more detailed explanation regarding the shortage, she may reach our Loan Servicing Department directly at (844) 568-4718 or by email at [email protected]. Coming into my first home purchase I was so blind at what to ask and what to expect. I was referred to Academy by my realtor because I wasn't meshing with the bank I was initially going to use. Janet O was a blessing. She walked me through over the phone the lending process, answered all my questions, and made me feel super comfortable and a little more knowledgeable in the process. I loved that she would communicate via text whenever they needed something from me, because being at work during the process is sometimes a little hard to attend to your personal stuff. She was not pushy, but just giving me a heads up as to what was next. I was so happy at closing knowing I made the right decision.
