The entire reply from *** and *** is a complete lie to buy them more time, and to try and make people feel bad for them. The only two calls we received from the company was ***, on March 14th, swearing and yelling at me for contacting the Revdex.com. I tried to speak to him but he was more interestted in making personal attacks than working things out. After being hung up on, he then called back and left a rambling message(***ed) Brewer Police Department was contacted and issued him a harassment warning on this same date. All correspondence was done via email so there is a *** of times, dates and excuses, but no effort to reach out and explain. We signed the contract in September after calling them several times to find out when they were able to start and when they needed money. No one ever showed up, or called to explain any hardships they faced. We found out about ***s mothers death in October, and immediately sent a sympathy card, and did not push for the job as we knew how close *** and his mother were.Come November, we were given multiple start dates with no one showing up and no calls made. Again in December, January and February. All correspondence was done by emails, so there is a great running log of their failures to reach out to their customers. In one email after the second request for our money back, *** did say he wanted to sit down with us face to face, and try to work things out. There were no phone calls or attempts on his part to come see us, and as a contractor who was failing to meet his contract responsibilities, it is his duty to come to the customer. AFter all, his company had no problem picking up the check and cashing it the next day.As far as hiring a subcontractor, we told them prior we did not want anyone else doing the roof but Williams. We were assured they would do it, and when they realized they could no longer fullfill thier end of the contract, instead of notifying us, they still failed to make contact. The first time we heard that any metal as purchased was after asking for our money back. The entire time there were no phone calls returned, voice mailboxes were full, and the company numbers on their estimate forms had been disconnected. Since phone ***s are easy enough to produce/subpeona, it will be easy show thier continued deceipt. Any metal that they purchased belongs to them, and if they were so inclined to bend it with out proper measurements, lenghts etc., then that is on them, as they never set foot on my roof. August to March is too long for a business to keep a customers money without making any efforts to explain, or correct the problem. After reading other reports from the same time, this is a pattern, and not a one time error. This was one of the warmest, least snowy winters we have ever had so weather should not have been to blame. (but they did) Blaming employees also falls on *** and ***, as they do the hiring, so they are soley responsible. In short, their rambling letter is nothing more than a cookie cutter template to abuse the Revdex.com system as they have no intention of paying anyone. We do not accept thier excuse. We have filed civil action, and the Maine Attorney Generals office was contacted and was familiar with the company. The only resolution accepted is to pay the $in full, prior to the proceedings or other costs and fees will also be sought
Regards,
*** ***
***First off we would like to apologize for your issue with usDue to a death in the family the owner had to unfortunately take a leave of absenceThis forced the business to shut down less than a week after your job had been finished. Looking back through the work order the flashing was
done around the windows/skylights but you are correct the water diverters were never installedWe would be more than happy to come out and install these for you if they have not been installed alreadyWe apologize for any inconvenience, and if there was a bill involved to have these installed we would be more than happy to pay for it
Hi ***,I wholeheartedly believe that you should have gotten a refund from us by now and as soon as humanly possible we would like to refund your deposit First of all I would like to point out that we did purchase your metal with the down payment and when we did call you to set up a time to
start your roof you had already had another company complete it for you Unfortunatley, unbeknownst to us you had been contacting an ex employee of ours therefore causing a wedge in the communication We are exceptionally sorry for the lack in contact that caused you to use another company and also for the severe delay in our company getting there to do the work for you.We lost a metal crew at the end of causing the metal jobs to come to a crawl When the estimates where done they were done with the intention of us being able to do the work with minimal wait time This had an extremely adverse effect On the company, one that we are still trying to fix.We broke in to the Bangor area in 1997, it took us years to make a good name for ourselves and build a company that we where proud of It took year for all of that hard work to go down the drains In we were stollen from by our employees, jobs were done poorly causing customers to hold back on full payments, a large commercial job that we were planning on basing our year around refused to pay us for the thousands of dollars worth of extra work we did for them and then to top it off they took months to pay us for what the original cost was ***'s mother passed away and then right after *** spent good deal of time in the hospital due to medical issues This had a direct effect on the ability to keep a close eye on the employees causing more stealing, more jobs to be done that we needed to go back to and then to top it off we fired all but of them because of drug use that we realized far too late We are now trying to rebuild our team and keep close watch on them all We are still grieving a lost family member and moving slowly from one job to the next We have absolutely no working capital (as I said beforeyears to build up and one to crush it all) Mostly we are trying hard to keep a roof over our children's heads and rebuild the business to one that they can grow up to be proud of This has been a very humbling year for usThankfully *** health has been improving. To any of you that are reading this and thinking that we 'took advantage' of you too......we are sorry That certainly has not been our attempt, we have been through the ringer If we are allowed to build ourselves back up again we are sure that we can make each of you happy ***, as soon as we can build ourselves up again we will make payments to youthank you for your patience and understanding ***
We will not expect for you to be satisfied until you have received your deposit back. The attempt at our first reply was simply to shed some light on the situation. Your deposit will be refunded as soon as possible. Thank you

I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does satisfy my issues concerning payment of the work done by my contractor. I would like to address the problem of communication, however. I was dealing with Bill Bureau after sending pictures to customer service. I was not under the impression at that point they were "listening". I inquired several times after sending the pictures on to Bill if they had been received. I got no answer. I certainly did not rush anything and no one ever told me that there would be someone sent to look at my concerns. I have sent the bill from my contractor on to Williams Roofing via certified mail. Hopefully, this issue will be resolved - if not, you'll be hearing from me again.

I am no liar. I also have no will to force myself to read his whole rant. We will refund the money when we can. We would have to be crazy not to try to do it as soon as possible. Some people just don't care and never will.
I would expect no contention of facts as the truth speaks for itself. We reject what they believe is a reply, and will until our money is returned.

The short story is that communication has been poor to nonexistent, start dates, when given, were not honored, and as I've come to learn, Williams roofing has agreed to (and taken my deposit) do a job that they didn't have the expertise to actually do. > Unfortunately the short story leaves a bunch of questions, so here is the painfully long one: a good start is addressing the inaccuracies of [redacted]'s message. I started making calls in late September asking for a scheduled start date as they had originally told us they would start in early September. At this time, I was told that they were behind, but mine would be next in line (or something to that affect) and work would start "next week". The start day would come and go with no call or explanation. This continued into November. By this time I wasn't getting responses at all, and I was beginning to worry they had closed. They route incoming calls through a answering service, and the only telephone number I had was going directly to a full mailbox. Anyway, after multiple missed start dates, as well as unreturned voicemails and texts, I started leaving msgs saying I needed to determine if they were still in business. I then received a call from [redacted], who said the reason for the delay is that they did not have the expertise to complete my roof, and were waiting for a "merger" with another company who did, and it had been delayed. I repeated that we had leaking, and asked if metal could at least be done in the two areas most affected. She said she would check that day and get right back to me. She did not. I called the following day to check on her response, she did not return my call. I called the following Monday, as well as Tuesday, still no response. I called early Wednesday and left a vm that said that it appeared that there was no plan in place to install my roof, and while I'd much rather have a roof, if I didn't see progress on it by the end of the week I would stop the credit card payment and file a complaint with the Revdex.com. Later that morning I was called by [redacted], who said a crew would be out the following morning to start on the roof. He recommended I tell them about problem areas, so I again stayed home from work, but they didn't arrive. I texted [redacted] who said now it would be noon. Late afternoon a guy (not a crew) showed up, complaining that he didn't have a ladder that was safe to get on the roof with, and eventually climbed up and took some measurements. He also dropped off a small bundle in the driveway that looks like metal trim. He said the crew would arrive the following morning to start work. They did not, and my texts to [redacted] were not returned. I did as I said and filed a stop payment and complaint the following Friday afternoon. It would appear that my stop payment resulted in the company arriving unannounced on Tuesday, and nailing inexpensive underlayment on two small portions of my roof. Unfortunately this is not helpful, in fact nailing through shingles with uncapped nails causes new leaks, and this stuff will blow off in the first good wind. (I'd be happy to supply photos)> > While it was originally my hope to find some way to compel Williams roofing to just install the metal roofing as contracted, I now have reservations about both their level of service/communication as well as there ability to do a decent quality job. At this point I recommend we simply part ways and they return my deposit.

[redacted]You are 100% right and the only thing we can do is apologize. We had to unfortunately shut the doors to the business for a few months as the owner had to take a leave of absence due to a death in the family. When we opened back up we drove by your house and noticed that...
the material we purchased with your down payment had been used on your roof, and the rest of the job had been finished. This is no way your fault and we apologize for any inconvenience. If there is any way we can make this up to you please let us know.
We were able to get to the [redacted]'s home and make the repairs on their home since this complaint. I did not realize that this was still open with no response.

[If you are rejecting the business's response please enter your rejection comments here.]The information provided by the business is not accurate. They say that the materials THEY purchased for my roof were used to finish my roof. This is not correct. The materials THEY provided are still sitting on a pallet on the side of my driveway. The materials that are on my roof are new materials purchased by the contractor who completed the roof. The only way I could have a warrantee, was to have the new contractor provide the materials and labor for the job. What would satisfy me at this point is for the business "Williams Roofing" to come and take the materials that were not used and return $2500.00 of my deposit of $4763.33 check no. 2059 written on May 3rd, 2016. I believe this is more than fair considering the trouble they put us through. I should be asking for the entire $4763.33 that I paid as a down payment for a job that wasn't even close to completed. They left my roof cap open and it rained torrentially and came inside the house so that I had to repaint my ceiling. My complaint could go on but I won't go further. If they give me back $2500.00 and take the metal away, I will write a Revdex.com letter absolving them of all complaint and say that they completely satisfied my needs after doing me wrong.

[redacted]Due to a death in the family and an unforeseen leave of absence because of this by one of the owners Williams Roofing was shut down during the period of this complaint. If it is still unresolved we would be more than happy to come resolve this for you, as we are back up and running at...
100%. We apologize for your inconvenience.
We had been in contact with that customer, so we were unaware that he was looking for a refund. We have actually done some work that we had talked about with him to go out and do in the event that we could not get right to his job. In order to get him by until we could get our whole crew there...
to do the whole roof.We thought that he understood that we were behind and that we were doing all we could to get there asap. We actually do roofing all year around and there should not be any need to find another contractor.Thank you for making contact with us.[redacted]

With regard to my complaint about Williams Roofing, Brewer, Maine and their almost two year response to that complaint.I had to pay $1,000.00 to another company to come and finish the job after repeated calls to the company to finish the job and no response from them. They finally reply and state there was a death in the family that caused the problem. While the mother of the owner did pass, this was prior to their starting the job at our property. Subsequently the owner was put in jail long after he was paid in full with the job incomplete. I paid in full as the crew assured me they would be done the day I paid. Instead, they left at 11am and never returned. Another fact is that they (the work crew) used my ladders during the job as they claimed they did not have any. Which I let them do. The crew broke one of my ladders during the job.I want restitution from Williams for the $1,000.00 spent to have the job finished. And I want the money now please.[redacted]

In response to our cousins complaint. We feel badly for the circumstances that have arisen to cause them to be upset. We have just come out of one of the worst years ever with the company. We had a heroin epidemic run through our employees who subsequently robbed us blind while...
doing a poor job on roofs. We have happily fired our crews to rebuild the company with employees that are drug free and poses great work ethic. We were pretty much shut down for the entire month of January to be able to make the transition to all new employees which is when we had hoped to do their roof.We did indeed have a 'death in the family', our mother. This was a very hard and extremely emotional time for us as we explained to them. We thought family would understand. This death had a great impact on the business. We tried more than once to set up a time to go and sit down to talk with them about what was going on but they ignored these requests. When we were finally getting ready and bending up the metal for their roof they contacted us to let us know that they were now selling their home and no longer wanted the roof done. Unfortunatley we are very low on our working capital right now as we explained to them. The down payment on their roof was used to purchase the metal for their roof as we also explained. The distributor that we purchase the metal from does not allow for metal returns due to the manufacturing company not honoring warranty on returned metal. (Also explained to them)We explained to them that we would have to wAit until we were able to sell another job with their color metal before we were able to offer a refund. We would in turn use the 1/3 down on the next customers roof to pay them back their deposit. We even went to the extent of taking pictures of their metal to show them we have it and to further offer to bring the metal to their house for 'safe keeping' until we were able to make a sale with their color. In essence, their 1/3down payment went to their metal as it should have. We had definitely made attempts to hire another company whom we have worked closely with now for going on 14 years that we would be happy to recommend their company to anyone. We were hoping to find a way for their roof to be done as soon as possible and done well. The price would have remained the same and our company would still honor all warranties.I am still trying to figure out how we were able to respond with a nasty tone since all correspondence has been by email. However, after re reading and confirming what I wrote to them about their request for money back and after attempting to have a sit down talk with them I feel the need to correct the false interpretation of what was said. When the very real threat was made of getting a lawyer and also contacting the Revdex.com to make a complaint after all attempts were made to meet up with them and we had explained everything that was going on and the fact that we were able to do nothing different than what we had told them. Our response was if you feel the need to do that, fine and if you feel the need to make things even harder for us by also contacting the Revdex.com then we would just tell them exactly what we told you. It wasn't a threat, it wasn't a lie and it wasn't making light of the situation it was simply telling it as it was. So in conclusion of responding to the complaint...we will be more than happy to pay them back their 1/3 down as soon as we are able to sell the metal that we purchased for their home placing this whole mess far, far behind us.

I would like the warranty to be honored and I will call the number you have provided to try to facilitate that. The owner, however, already has all the information he needs and if he was willing to do the work, can move forward on his own. He simply chooses not to. It should not require any further action on my part, as 21 phone calls and over a year has passed and the roof still leaks. I also take issue with your response in the following ways. First, we called the number you provided repeatedly last year and it was eventually confessed that it was just an answering service, not an office. We were told they just forward the messages to the owner’s cell phone. I was told directly by the owner the best way to contact him was through his cell phone. If there is now an actual office, please provide the address and update that on the Revdex.com website which only has a PO box. Second, the comments about “an exceptionally rainy spring” and “unable to pick up on calls” were made in ignorance or dishonesty. You have not identified yourself or your position with the company, so it is difficult to know which. I have twice spoken to the owner directly and twice he has told me he would be out to fix the roof and twice he has simply not shown up and not called. One time being in early November of last year, so the spring had nothing to do with that. The fact that I have left 12 voice mails on the owner’s cell phone, NONE of which he has ever called me back on, makes it quite clear it has nothing to do with calling him when he is speaking with another customer. He simply has no interest in honoring the warranty.“I called the number provided, and the person confirmed that there was no office and they were only an answering service. They could not put in a work order in any way, and could only forward the message to the owner. The person responding to the Revdex.com complaint for Williams’ Roofing provided false information.”
