I contracted Western Van Lines (though a freight broker - Trinity Van Lines) to move (up to) 300 cu ft of household goods from Colorado to California. I was quoted a price ($1798.81) based on an exact list of items and boxes, as long as the volume was under 300 cu ft. The actual volume of all items and boxes is approximately 200 cu ft (I measured the volume and I am a retired master degreed Mechanical Engineer (Penn State, 1985) and 14 years experience with UPS). - well under the 300 cu ft limit ( including any additional packing inefficiency caused by the few non boxed items). The driver (after examining) the items (matching the list exactly) demands $300 additional "cash" because the load "volume is way too high" … some 381 cu ft (by his estimation). His "estimate" is nonsense (clearly and obviously inflated), it was nothing more that a blatant attempt to fraudulently pad the estimate to justify a false sur-charge of $300. Since the items and the load were in full compliance with the original quote, I refused to pay any additional and the driver departed without taking anything.
To better understand and validate all of the consumer claims/complaints we respectfully request that the consumer submit copies of the contracts they have received from the company & who they allegedly have had transactions with to determine and validate the company they are attempting to file their complaint against. Thus will confirm interaction between both parties and ensure a fair investigation for both the customer as well as the company. We respectfully request that the consumer provide the following supportive Documents (FRONT AND BACK); Bill of Lading (contract) Order for Service Household Goods Descriptive Inventory (both pickup and final delivery copies) Proof of any financial transaction made with the Service Provider (receipt, bank statement, etc.) We urge the customer to submit additional information as soon as possible so that we may address their issues. Be sure to highlight any notations made at the time of service implementing said concerns. Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because: the company's "form letter" response is nonsense.
I am (herein) providing all of the actual information that exists (outside of Western Van Lines and their affiliate Trinity Van Lines records)
All of our interaction was with two representatives of Trinity Van Lines (3170 N Federal Hwy Suite 106, Lighthouse Point, FL 33064 US DOT: 3146583 MC: 102445) "Stephan and Rob" at 954-633-5503 or 954-603-1867
The only document that ever existed is the "binding moving estimate" from Trinity Van Lines (the driver from Western Van Lines never gave any documentation to us) I have a copy of this document [job no. B6470215] and will be happy to provide a copy of it. It will provide a complete and accurate list of items in the load we provided (this list was accurate and the volume of the entire load was less than 200 cu ft. When the driver (from Western) arrived he falsely over estimated the load (claiming it was almost 400 cu ft) in order to falsely overcharge us an additional $300 cash. When we refused to pay these false overcharges, only the agree upon amount, the driver left.
As their agent (the driver and customer service agent - "Laura" on the phone) failed to honor our agreement (that is, take our completely legitimate load for the agreed upon price) the only acceptable response is a complete return of our deposit money.($600 paid by Visa on 5/11/20 to Trinity Van Lines)
Sincerely

I am rejecting this response because: the description of events described in their response is simply false. The load prepared for the western driver did not contain any additional items or boxes, that is: it exactly matched the item list in the order and the total size was only 180 cu ft (well under the 300 cu ft allowed). The driver (from Western) was attempting to falsely overcharge (by intentional miscount and inflated estimate). We are also attempting to recover our funds from Trinity Van Lines but it was your driver (and customer service agent) who were directly involved and responsible for the attempted fraudulent overcharge.
We have the original documents (with the item list) as well as pictures and measurements of the load and would be happy to provide that information for an independent 3rd party evaluation of our complaint.
Again, return of our deposit (and stopping there fraudulent business practices) is the only acceptable response
Sincerely
Mr. *** desired settlement is the refund of his deposit. We did not collect any money from this person. If *** would like reimbursement/refund of his deposit then he must contact the party that ACTUALLY collected the funds from him to pursue the refund. There is nothing for us to refund because we did not collect anything.
Great job! The crew had masks and gloves which made my family feel safe. Worth the money and we would use Western again! Bryan was very helpful and we loved the movers so much we tipped an extra $100
This was my second big move, this time around I did my homework. I found western van lines and my agent natasha made it easy with while being competitively priced.
My move was on time and as quoted so I would definitely recommend and will use this company again in the future.
Thank you!
Thank you for your positive feedback ***. We are pleased that you were happy with the service. We look forward to working with you again in a future.
Long distance moving can often be very stressful. Some of my friends suggested that I sell all my stuff back in Seattle before moving to Tulsa, OK. I would have had to buy everything locally. Thankfully there is one moving company that specializes in long distance moving. Western van lines has been in business for long enough to transport your valuables to pretty much any corner within the USA. The men who work there seemed very enthusiastic and they knew their jobs very well. And I also must add - their quote was the lowest!
I was not willing to hire a moving company but we were moving long-distance, so I had to go for the professionals. Out of 3 companies that gave me a quote, it was Western van lines that offered me the best deal. So, I booked my move with them. Natasha is a gem to work with. She explained the entire process and always ready to answer our calls no matter when we called. Our relocation from Phoenix, AZ to Dallas, TX went smoothly. Both pickup and delivery were on time and nothing was damaged or missing during the entire process. It was great paying them the same amount which was quoted. I would like to thank them for everything.
Thank you for your kind words ***. We are pleased that our company Western Van Lines was able to make this a smooth & seamless relocation for you and your family. We look forward to assisting you with any relocation needs that you might have in the future.
Sincerely,

Moving from Denver, CO to Paterson, NJ was a daunting task. Being a single mom, it was not easy for me to manage everything. So, I decided to hire professionals. After getting quotes from 7 companies, I hired Western van lines. Blake, their sales rep, gave me the best deal, and the movers did the rest. Assigned for the full service. Packing done in record time, loading was smooth, and delivery was on time and without any drama. After checking the inventory, I had tipped them heavily. It was almost hard to believe that nothing was damaged! Not even a single scratch. I hate moving, but if I need to relocate again, I know where to call.
It was a pleasure to service your long distance move Ms.. We look forward to assisting you with any relocation needs that you or your family have in the future. Enjoy your new home and thank you for giving Western Van Lines the opportunity to service your move.
We are moving from Ohio to North Carolina. When we were booking the movers, we told them the budget we had to work with. After some negotiations, we came to agreed upon price (based on providing them with an itemization of what we had to move) and put down a $2,000 deposit. The total agreed upon price was around $4,700 (including the deposit). The movers showed up and stated that their truck wasn’t big enough and that we had much more than they were aware of and that we owed them an extra $3,600. This would be on top of the $4,700 previously agreed upon. The deposit is non-refundable. We knew that we were going to have extra boxes. We planned for that. But as this is a major move, we didn’t have an extra $3,600. Couldn’t get our sales rep to call me. We dealt with *** and she basically said we were out of luck. We paid the extra money or we couldn’t get all of our belongings down to NC. There was no discount, She wouldn’t let me speak with anyone above her. This company, I believe is shady and trying to scam people out of money.
I have spoken with *** from the moving company and we reached an agreement. Please close out/remove the claim.
Thank you
