Support Nerds

Recently my college age son was contacted by a gentleman who stated he worked for Support Nerds. This same gentleman informed my son the he was owed a refund for unused services.
The gentleman goes on to tell my son that when they processed his refund, the made a mistake and credited him for 3,000 instead of 30.00. He was then intimidated into believing he'd be charged with a crime if he kept the extra funds. My son was told that he needed to send the extra money back asap!
Long story short, my son was completely scammed out of 2,000 because this gentleman conned him into giving remote access to his computer. He was remotely shown a fake bank statement showing that the extra money was in fact credited to his account. It was not. The remote access gave the intruder access to his actual funds that he had from receiving a refund from financial aid for his classes!
When we contacted Support Nerds, they acted as if they wanted to help. They stated they'd look into this matter because their reputation was on the line. I informed them that this person had to be an employee because they knew personal info about my sons previous account with them and also had the "support.net" remote access code specific to Support Nerds.
In the long run Support Nerds assistance was that they were hacked and they stated other businesses like Equifax have also been hacked and then offered no further help with resolving the issue or giving my son his 2,000 back.
BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY and letting them have access remotely to your personal computer and files.The intruder did it before and got away with 2,000, he will most definitely do it again with the SAME OR SIMILAR RUSE
