I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
My response is that I do not except what they are saying. There were multiple times I was in contact with [redacted], and each time the story changed. He offered solutions, and then back tracked his responses like they written on the letter, invalidating their position in the matter. I was told the tenant breaking the rules was evicted and to call him directly to have them removed from the property. Some how the tenant enters the facility and the managers there don't do anything. I fear for my safety.
Regards,
[redacted]
Dear Sir, We are sorry to hear about your experience at StorAmerica Self Storage in Duarte. Across our 74 stores, we require that all of our tenants have accident or damage protection for the contents of their storage units - whether it be through their own personal renter's or homeowner's...
insurance, or through our monthly tenant protection plan. It appears that you opted out of our protection plan, so unfortunately, when the damage regrettably occurred inside your storage unit, we were unable to compensate you monetarily for those damages. However, as you are aware, our Property Manager and District Manager agreed to transfer you to a new unit, at no cost to you. We sincerely hope that this relocation puts your mind at ease and we thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.Kind Regards,Management
We apologize if you feel that your claim has been delayed, unfortunately StorAmerica is not the party in charge of approving and mailing you out the check, this is done via [redacted], which is your protection plan company.Based on our records, we submitted your claim to [redacted] as soon as you...
filed it and both claims were already approved, as you know very well since you have signed the Release Agreement for both claims and are scheduled to receive 2 checks from them. The process for a claim can take anywhere from 6-8 weeks depending on the reason for the claim and how much does [redacted] has to investigate to ensure that this is a legitimate claim being made. Your first claim was submitted on 2/16/17 and was approved on 3/9/17, your second claim was submitted on 3/2/17 and approved on 3/27/17. As you can see, both claims were processed within 3-4 weeks and now checks are being processed, which again, this step is completely out of our hands as our company (StorAmerica) is not the one in charge of processing this check that will be mailed to you. Once again we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and we hope [redacted] is able to finalize your claim promptly. In regards to still being charged for your unit - Unfortunately, your items are still occupying the space and we are unable to rent it out to another customer. Therefore we will continue to charge rent until it has been completely vacated.
Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The debt sent to collections should not be in my name. I need to ask if my name [redacted] was sent to collections, because I went down to your storage location to remove my name off the contract. If in your response you are telling me I was sent to collections, then I am going to have to report this to other Consumer Affairs and other pertaining Beaus/agencies. If the person sent to collections is someone else other than me then that's who it pertains to, but it was not [redacted]'s storage therefore its not my responsibility. I did not owe any dept to your company. Why would your company wait two years send someone to collections then try to resolve it. Amazing. If you tarnished my credit please fix it or I will take legal action.Regards,[redacted]

increase and tried to reach out to you to work out a deal, but unfortunately we were unable to do so. Section 1(f) of the rental agreement [attached] states that we can change the terms of your contract with at least 30 days written notice. StorAmerica abides by all California state laws to the best of our knowledge and provides all tenants with the appropriate notice in the event of a rate increase. If you wish to further discuss your concern please feel free to reach out to our office and one of our associates will be happy to assist you.
Thank you,
Whether a Fortune 500 , Medium or Small Business Owner you will be satisfied with Seacliff Storage located at 18100 Kovacs Lane, Huntington Beach, California 92648.
The secure facility has a great selection of storage units, including but not limited to, RV and Boat Parking.
The premises are meticulously landscaped , impeccably clean and well lighted.
The professional staff is courteous and efficient.
We highly recommend this facility to business owners in all the coastal cities of greater Orange County, California.
We are sorry Mr. [redacted] does not agree with how we calculate our late fee. Our company runs 67 storage facilities and we've never had a complaint regarding this situation. The contract states the late fee will be based on the rental rate, not the discounted rate. We will consider adding verbiage to...
make this clearer in the future. However, we are happy to waive the February late fee for Mr. [redacted], when he comes in to vacate his unit.
Our apologies in responding to Mr. [redacted] complaint without all of the details. This incident happened almost two years ago and the manager who was there no longer works for our company, so we were getting second-hand information, which was partially accurate as the unit was set to be up for auction. However, we offered an alternate solution so the tenant could retrieve their belongings before it went into the actual auction. We were able to get our Delinquent Tenant Manager involved who has record of every tenant we've offered our alternate solution to, as well as those units that have gone up for auction.
According to our documentation the unit was past due approximately $600 and slated to be included in a future unit auction. We understand tenants come across financial hardships from time to time and offered an option to allow Mr. [redacted] to dissolve the contract in good standing. This agreement was that the tenant would pay $300 (half of the past due amount) and sign a 'Release of Liability' form that is required to protect us from possible future legal implications. (Once the payment is made and the agreement is signed they are able to empty the unit. Once that is completed, we go in to clean the unit or remove anything that was left behind. If this form is not signed and we throw something away this gives the tenant reason to sue us.) We have record that Mr. [redacted]'s mother came in to try and satisfy this agreement by making a $300 payment. However, we could not allow her to sign the liability release due to the fact Mr. [redacted] is the person named on the contract. We made follow-up calls to have him come down to sign this release, but it was never completed. Once the agreement was not fulfilled after 15 days we sent the remainder of the balance, last documented as $408.60, to collections.
While we apologize for the inconvenience it may have caused, we tried to be exceptionally fair by waiving half of what was owed (more than $300 in past due rent) in exchange for a signature and paying the other half of what was due. Since the release was never signed, the agreement was not fulfilled, and the rest of the past due rent went to collections.
StorAmerica apologizes for any inconvenience to the
customer. We encountered a huge misunderstanding and have reached out to
the customer directly to address his concerns and refund him the $35. We will continue to reach out until we've been able to establish contact with the customer. We...
are sincerely sorry we did not handle the situation appropriately at the store level and will learn from this experience.
Former tenant skipped and refused to sign release to All American. Since tenant refused to work with us, she was sold in auction then sent to collections. We followed the lien laws of the state of...

Regards, I live two hours one way from the facility. This business assumes I do not want to drive to the facility out of convenience which is an U sir assumption.. I will continue to purse this with the Attorney General as this response is indicative of unfair business practices conducted by this facility. I was out I a situation where I was under duress and had to sign for coverage as I was told I had to. Now the company refuses to take responsibility and will still not release the coverage unless indrice 4 hours to do so. Unethical business practices

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. Their response is completely inaccurate and mistaken. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
They have my claim completely mixed up, nothing of mine was sold in auction. I removed my belonging from the business. I would more than anything else like them to take accountability for their actions or mistakes. They obviously have no regard for the consumer. This case proved that a fact.

Jessica is just the best and made my time there very worthwhile and a great communicator too , a real pro
Hello - We tried reaching out to the tenant via the contact information that was provided in the complaint. However, the phone number did not work (only gave a "The person you are trying to reach is unavailable' message' and we couldn't leave a voicemail) and the email address also provided...
returned our attempt to reach out to her as an 'invalid email address'. The fact she is upset has surprised our staff at the property she rented from as the person who came to clean out her unit was incredibly friendly to our staff and profusely said thank you for allowing him to use our dumpster to throw away the bookshelves that were mentioned in the complaint. We never received a complaint at the store-level. If the desired resolution is a refund of one day rent, we are happy to do that. However, one day of rent per her contract is not $80. The monthly base rate with tax is $107.83. One day of rent would come to $3.47.

with the customer. We are sincerely sorry we did not handle the situation appropriately at the store level and will learn from this experience.
We are so displeased with doing business with this facility. We though the deal was too good to be true. The storage units are dirty and some have the planks coming apart off the floor. The units are not built on the property, they are containers and some are not even leveled on the ground. There are critters (rats) running around as I pointed out to my boyfriend, but the deal was good since all we are storing are metal tools. The office girls do not know what they are doing. On sign up 10/02/2016 she did not explain what was needed to rent the truck that was supposedly FREE. On the day of move-in on 10/8/2016 we wasted time finding an ATM to get cash because they only accepted cash for the $50 deposit. We needed to show our insurance and got charged an additional $25 for their insurance. The girl seemed annoyed that we were there at 10:00 a.m. as she was just arriving to work ten minutes after 10. We were supposed to be there by 10:30 but the other girl never mentioned that at sign up. She was also annoyed that her co-worker did not mention the details of us needing to provide cash and proof of insurance. Customers kept calling asking for rates and information and she commented that it was the weekend, no one should be bothering and calling her. The attitude started. She went over the truck dents and scratches and said to have the truck in before 4:00 p.m.. We arrived back at the storage at 3:30. She comes out to tell us there is a $25 fee for every half hour past 4 because we did not check in with her in the office once the truck was unloaded. NEVER had she mentioned about the fees. She only said to have the truck back on the property by 4 because she wanted to go home on time. The truck rental is never free. They try to take as much as they can by withholding information from you. They obviously seen us through all the cameras. This is not a way to do business. This is dishonesty to the highest. My boyfriend received a call from Cindy the manager today 10/10/2016, stating that she was kicking us out of the container because my boyfriend attacked the girls in the office. This is untrue. We both were upset at their illegal ways of conducting business and our voices got loud. I'm sure they would feel upset and the same would occur if this happened to them. My boyfriend does not attack people nor get in their faces. He is a grown man. Those girls should grow up. We will be happy to go elsewhere and make sure that our friends and family in Moreno Valley know not to do business with SortAmerica Management at Alessandro Self Storage. In addition there is no Corporate number to call only the number for the storage facility in Riverside. The [redacted] is not good.
