I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is the best I can hope for. The amount of trouble to dig it all up and put the clean out where it should be is too much trouble. The right of way was not on my deed but that was a mistake by the township and the court cost would be more trouble then it is worth. The fact that I had to fill in the hole was my situation because I had family visiting. Just glad it is done and over.

The business response was "customer complaint is being handled, customer should be happy." I have received a couple of phone calls from RotoRooter, but I am still awaiting a final solution. I have asked that the waiver I'm being asked to sign be modified. I've been told I will see a revised version next week. I don't think I can consider this issue resolved until I see the revised waiver. To whom it may concern: Roto-Rooter Services Company Services Company arrived at the home of the [redacted]’s on July 21st 2017. Upon qualifying the sewer damage Roto-Rooter Services Company determined that the source of the water was caused by a blockage in the [redacted]’s lateral waste sanitary line. The...
insurance industry considers this a “Fill-Up”. Upon acquiring this information Roto-Rooter Services Company and encouraged the [redacted]’s to file a claim with their home-owners insurance. After she filed the claim she was later informed that she had a policy limit of $5,000 applied under a “sewer-backup” endorsement. Roto-Rooter Services Company later discovered that this endorsement was intentionally misapplied to afford the [redacted]’s the $5,000 maximum allowed under the endorsement. Roto-Rooter Services Company was unaware as was the [redacted]’s that her policy that she has purchased does not cover for day-to-day losses and has a specific exclusion that will not cover water damage from any other source outside of this particular endorsement purchased. The insurance company did this as a favor in an act of good-will. Roto-Rooter Services Company never quoted a price between $3,000 and $4,000 to the [redacted]’s. In fact if you look at the attached work order agreement the customer was quoted between $3,000 and $7,000. The reason for this large variation is because at the time of the contracts being signed Roto-Rooter Services Company does not have the ability to do an intrusive inspection, and is unsure of what if any materials may be behind the finishing materials or to what extent the framing and masonry is saturated. These factors can account for the majority of the drying bill. Roto-Rooter Services Company in an act of good faith has made several attempts to reach out to her insurance adjuster to see if any other funds can be afforded to the [redacted]’s from any part of her policy. Unfortunately, there is none. Roto-Rooter Services Company is happy to work with the [redacted]’s but cannot simply walk away from 55% of or $3,700 from the bill. Roto Rooter cannot be held responsible for the undervaluation of coverage’s purchased by the [redacted]’s. If you look at the water extraction agreement (contract) it is made explicitly clear that the [redacted]’s are and knew they were taking full responsibility for the bill. And that Roto Rooter Services Company will follow the industry standards presented by the IICRC S500 regardless of whether or not insurance coverage applies. Roto Rooter Services Company contract is with the homeowner and not the insurance carrier. We have provided the [redacted]’s with a line item Xactimate invoice which itemizes our bill. Any discrepancies or issues with this bill we are happy to discuss. Again we are happy to work with the [redacted]’s but cannot simply walk away from $3,700. Please give me a call or an email if you have any questions or concerns. Chris Redd Restoration Division Manager 314.222.7824 Ext 28402 [email protected]

Mr. Ken Anderson
Roto-Rooter Services Company
12034 Exit 5 Parkway
Fishers, IN. 46037
Dear Mr. Ken Anderson:
Again in response to your letter dated 12/11/17 I would
like to add the following.
I admit that I was off by 2.8 lbs on the weight of the
retaining wall blocks as you can see in the attachment. Not sure which model you were quoting in your
response but these are very different than what you thought you had worked
with. Also there were 7 blocks moved, 3
on the bottom row and 4 on the top row.
I have also included a picture showing how the dirt was
left piled up against the front of the house.
I wish now I would have taken a picture of the actual job site and how
it was left in that it would make this a much easier discussion.
You did not respond to the point I made about Roto-Rooter
first sending out a person to clean the Sewer Clean Out and before he started
stated that a person would also be coming out to view the Sewer Clean Out after
he completed his job, which cost $400 and then to find that the service he
performed did absolutely no good in trying to correct the problem.
I am sorry we are trading these letters back and forth,
but I truly feel that the Company, or maybe just certain divisions within the
company, are focused on nothing more than company profit no matter what level
of customer service is provided.
Sincerely,
[redacted] T. [redacted]
[redacted], Hiring Manager at Roto-Rooter Columbus Branch, spoke with Mr. [redacted] about his concerns and complaint. It was explained to the customer that the service that was provided on 4/13/2015 was completed at a massive discount with the final bill coming to $150.00. He explained that the...
service charge for the most recent service was directly in line with the branch flat rate pricing and is completely accurate for the service that was provided to the customer. Mr. [redacted] felt that the difference in the price was not his fault and doesn't feel that he should be charged the higher price and believed that the price differences should be his fault. [redacted] explained that there is noone at fault, that the original technician gave him a very large discount and he benefited from this discount, and that this most current service was charged accurately for the service provided. Mr. [redacted] stated that he understood the explaination of the justified charges and the $75.00 discount for the most recent service. Based upon this explaination of services and pricing, we are considering this matter closed.
I spoke to [redacted] and agreed to refund him $[redacted] as per his request, as a customer satisfaction refund. He is satisfied with this resolution[redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I hired the company to diagnose and treat a serious plumbing issue I was having in my entire house. If there were two problems present back in January, they both should have been diagnosed and treated. It takes longer than 8 months for tree roots to grow, which is the issue they are saying is now present and why only my washer is flooding. The only solution of course is for another area of pipe to be excavated and replaced. I cannot afford for Roto Rooter to come and excavate every foot of pipe every 8 months because they deem it to be so. Therefore, I believe they owe me at least half the money I already paid for the original job they proposed and did because 1) they did not examine the entire section of pipe and regardless if I told them to or not, that is THEIR job. It is not my job to tell Roto Rooter where to look for a problem at. 2) There may have been 2 problems when they were initially here in January, but that is why they should have done their job completely and then informed me of the second issue (the roots) and we could have taken care of that matter at that time. 3) They did not complete the verbal contract that they entered into with me (finishing the concrete in the garage) and found a way around it by having someone else sign the agreement that they wrote different information on. I NEVER would have signed a piece of paper saying that I would have to POUR CONCRETE. I am a single woman living on my own and have NO IDEA what that would entail. So, I was verbally told they would take care of it when the weather warmed up, but they lied to me and wrote on the contract that they wouldn't be responsible. In addition to the major plumbing issue that was obviously present last January and is STILL present today, I have to pour concrete from their last excavation, which is an additional expense that I was not aware I would have to make since I didn't sign their contract, but took their word to actually mean something. And since I didn't sign the contract, I can't see how that should have any weight.

Mr. [redacted] will be contacted on Friday, January 5th to schedule with him. The repairs will be at ZERO cost to this customer.

They did 1 camera inspection not 2 and it was under warranty. They did not fix the toilet issue and the toilet was never even removed from the floor to inspect. The main issue of raw sewage coming into my washing machine was never addressed. No one ever told me it was not connected correctly or offered me any kind of resolution to fix it at all. In the mean time I have to contact another plumber that should be able to help me.

We have recevied payment from the insurance provided and are processing a refund check of $500 to the customer. The check is for customer satisfaction.
The customer had received a check for our services from the insurance company. We offered a $500 refund once our services had been paid for. The customer agreed and then changed their mind about releasing check to us. Since all check refunds come from our corporate office and take 1-2 weeks. She choose to hold check and told us to contact the insurance company. Since she has refused payment we must proceed with the normal collection process which includes placing a lien on the property until payment is resolved. We will still honor a $500 refund as a good faith customer service credit once the balance is resolved. We will continue the collection process until the balance is paid as well.
I called my insurance company on August 25, and told them to send Roto Rooter out another check but not to send it to me to send it to the company he told me that he would and that it would have my name on it as well I have not heard from them for me to endorse the check which they should have received as of this date. Waiting on the company for my $500.00
As stated in the previous response, we are not responsible for work performed by another person or company. We gave a recommendation based on what we could see in our camera that we showed you. The pictures you posted after you did the work obviously show the new pipe that was installed which tells us the old piping was bad as, as the technician stated. There is no negligence or misdiagnosis on our part, and we are firm on our stance.
