Review: I purchased a $1.00 trial for 7 days. It was set up that you had to cancel or you would pay 49.95. I canceled within 15 minutes of signing up but they still charged my credit card the 49.95. I have attempted to call them and they don't answer the phone. I'm having my bank cancel my credit card because I'm sure they are going to keep charging it.Desired Settlement: I would like the return of the 49.95 since I did not authorize them to charge me for it, and I canceled within the first few minutes of signing in.
Review: This company fraudulently attempted to charge my credit card for their service. I never accepted their free trial. I never completed the process for it. They are now attempting to charge me monthly for their services. They have no contact information. I attempted to contact them to ask them to halt those attempted charges. I do not need this going on my credit as a missed payment. They will not be getting money from me. My bank has been notified to decline all charges from this company. They attempt to charge my card twice a month. Please stop.Desired Settlement: I want them to stop attempting to charge my account for their services. I never used them. I never followed through with the free trial. I never verified via email like their email suggested. Yet, they are still trying to charge me twice a month for their services. After this is cleared up I would like to never be contacted by this company or any affiliates of this company.

Response:
Thank you for notifying us of Customer I’s experience.
We appreciate the opportunity to investigate and clarify what has happened on
Customer I’s account.
Customer I states in the complaint that they did not accept
the “free trial” and that the registration process was never completed.
We believe that Customer I may be unclear about our account registration
process. In order for an account to be registered, we require all customers to
complete our registration page with name, email, phone, address, and payment
information. We were able to locate a completed account registration in
our system that matches the information Customer I provided on this complaint.
Secondly, our trial is not “free” as Customer I
states. It is clearly stated on our registration page that the fee is
$1.00 for a 7-day trial, and $49.60 each month following until the customer
cancels the account. In reviewing our records we found that the monthly
fee was attempted, but not completed for Customer I. Therefore, there was
no billing to Customer I other than the $1.00 trial fee.
Upon receiving this complaint on 3/17/15, we attempted to
contact Customer I at the phone number listed on the complaint to explain the
situation on the account in efforts to resolve the issue, but were
unsuccessful. We can confirm Customer I’s account is completely canceled
and no monthly charges have ever gone through for the account.
We invite Customer I to contact our customer service
department for answers to any other questions. We will be happy to
assist. We are confident this will fully resolve the customers concerns.

Response:
We
respectfully disagree with the claims made in this complaint, but we have
elected to process refunds to the customer to resolve this situation.
Additional information about this account follows for your consideration.
Ms
** claims to have cancelled her account with us in October. Our accounting
records show she cancelled her account on 11/14/2014 on our website. She claims
she called our toll-free number earlier, however our phone records show no
calls received from her regarding her account. To resolve this complaint and
get an understanding of the reasons why she wanted a refund, we tried to
contact Ms ** at the phone number we have on file. Her number is no longer in service
so we were not able to speak to her. Although we have no previous history of
cancellation, to address this situation promptly, we went ahead and processed a
refund for the October charge. The complaint says she wanted a refund for
November as well, but no charge was made for November. We processed a refund
for September as an additional courtesy to the customer. We believe these
actions have addressed Ms **’s concern.

Review: My husband & I have our property listed with FOR SALE BY OWNER & a couple of days ago I saw our property listed on RENT BEFORE BUYING much to our surprise. Although the picture does have the FSBO info on lower right, and our price of $109,000 shown, but that's where the truth ends!!!! It says: ESTIMATED VALUE: $94,000. This is SO wrong as I have an appraisal for $115,000 for this property. When I contacted this company I talked to a man named Chris (ID #2379) who kept telling me I should be "HAPPY" with the "FREE ADVERTISEMENT"!!! I told him his company was not given permission by us in any way, shape or form to advertise this property. Further more the ad saying it only had an Estimated Value of $94,000 was so wrong and detrimental to our trying to sell our home. Most people seeing this would not be willing to pay what we are asking or any way near it. This company has done us un-repairable problems! My husband is 92 & I am 82 and must sell our home due to age & health. This is so not right a company can advertise with FALSE info and without your express permission to do so. I have already been in contact with my agent at For Sale By Owner and they are also looking into this matter. My agent suggested Filing this complaint with you.Desired Settlement: I feel we have been damaged in excess of $15,000 with their false est. value and I want all references they have place ANYWHERE about this property removed.

Response:
Thank
you for notifying us of Ms. S’s experience. We appreciate the opportunity
to investigate the situation, and respond to Ms. S’s concern.
Ms. S
states that her property is listed as a property FOR SALE BY OWNER, and that
she saw it listed on our website, which is called rentbeforeowning.com.
This lead her to believe that her house was listed as a Rent Before Owning
property, however this is not the case. Our website listed the property
correctly as a For Sale By Owner.
When
Ms. S called our customer service department on 2/19/15, she requested that her
property be removed from our website completely, which has been done. We have
also contacted the advertising service which listed her home on other social
media sites and have requested that they remove her home from their database so
the home will not be advertised on line. They have confirmed they have
removed this home from their database, so it will not show up in an
advertisement from their company.
Ms. S
also expresses concern with the “estimated” value of the home that was listed
on our website. Please know that an “estimated value” is just that, an
estimate. We work with leading national data providers which provide
estimated home values for numerous property listing services. The
estimates are variable, and as an example Reatlytrac.com listed Ms S’s property
with an estimated value of $92,000; Zillow listed the property with an
estimated value of $102,000.
Per
Ms. S’s request we have removed the property from our website and have worked
with the advertising service to confirm they have also removed this property
from their database. We believe this has fully addressed and resolved Ms.
S’s complaints.
Review: I purchased the online service to locate a home in Eastern NC that was a "rent to own" home. After reviewing the homes available for the area, I was quite surprised to see ALL of the homes that I have seen on Realtor.com, Trulia & Zillow that are FOR SALE , was listed as "Rent to Own". Even my friends' home was listed on their site as for rent...their home is For Sale ONLY! I called the company to cancel during the 7 day trial but continued getting a busy signal. After noticing on my bank account I was charged $49.95 on day 6, the rep told me canceling was my problem and I should have found another way to end the trial. As for asking about the homes that were an exact duplicate of Trulia, Zillow & Realtor.com, I was told only certain areas had actual homes that are "rent to own" and my location wasn't one of them so therefore they list homes for sale by local real estate agencies. THE SITE IS A SCAM.Desired Settlement: I would like the money returned after day 6 if $49.95 ASAP.

Thank
you for notifying us of Customer RS’s comments. Our customer service records
show we had a previous conversation on this topic with Customer RS when he
contacted us by telephone on 11/11/2014. At that time, we cancelled the
customer’s account as requested and also processed a courtesy refund of the
first monthly charge. Unfortunately, the customer did not remain on the line
long enough for us to confirm the refund was processed. We attempted to call
the customer back at the phone number provided to confirm his courtesy refund,
however, our call was not answered. We left a voice mail confirming the refund
had been processed at that time. Please consider the following additional
information about the listings provided on our website.
The
property information shown on our website is sourced through agreements with
over one hundred different real estate data providers. Property information
includes real estate data, tutorial information and over 2 million listings of
homes nationwide. Home listing availability will vary by market, but can
include distressed property (such as mortgage defaults, foreclosures and
auctions), bank owned REOs, traditional MLS re-sales, owner financed, lease
option and rent to own homes. Listing status is subject to change at any time
and while we cannot guarantee availability of all sales types in all locations
at all times, we present data as broadly and frequently as possible. We
regularly process updates to the nearly 2 million individual property records,
while enforcing quality control in data processing and formatting. We
encourage home buyers to regularly visit our website over time to keep informed
of the changing marketplace and be aware of new listings that can appear at any
time. This is why members maintain a monthly membership with the website, month
to month.
Based
on Customer RS’s comments, we researched his city (Beaufort, NC) and found as
of 11/12/2014, our website shows 1 rent-to-own home and 10 owner financing
properties listed. Customer RS also mentioned he discovered a certain listing
posted as a rental, which he had reason to believe should be listed as for
sale. If Customer RS can supply us with the address for this property, we will
promptly research the data involved to determine if or why a display error may
have occurred. We have attempted to call Customer RS to obtain the property
information, however our calls have not been answered or connected.
Regarding
his account status, upon receiving this complaint, we attempted to contact
Customer RS on 11/12/2014 to ensure his concerns were addressed. Customer RS
was not reachable by phone. The phone number provided on this complaint matches
our customer service records, but it no longer connects and plays a message
stating ‘the number is no longer in service’. We have re-confirmed: Customer
RS’s account was cancelled and a refund was processed previously, on 11/11/2014
at the time he originally contacted our customer service department. Customer
RS should expect to see this refund credit his charge card in 1 – 4 business
days, depending on the processing policy of his card’s issuing bank.
Review: I entered a registration to find a rent to buy house in Arkansas City, KS, with the option of cancelling within 2 weeks and the cost would be $1. If not cancelled, it would cost me $39. + a month. I cancelled the same day. When I went to use my credit card I had no money on it because they took $49.00 off it. When I called them I got lot's of double talk and they even tried to tell me it wasn't them, but I got the phone number and the company from the credit card company.Desired Settlement: Return of my money.

Thank
you for notifying us of Customer J’s experience. We appreciate the
opportunity to research and clarify what happened with Customer J’s account.
Customer
J registered for an account on 12/14/2014 and agreed to be billed $1 for a
7-day trial, and $49.60 each month thereafter until canceled. Per
Customer J’s complaint, she states there was an option to cancel within 2 weeks
for the $1.00 fee. There seems to have been a misunderstanding, as our
trial offer is clearly stated on our website as a 7 day trial period.
Furthermore,
we do not show any record of any correspondence or cancellation requests from
Customer J until 1/25/2015 when she called our Customer Service department and
cancelled the account through our IVR phone system. Please know we keep a
robust tracking system that time stamps all correspondence including account
registrations and confirmed cancellations. We do not show any record in
our system of any previous cancellation requests until this phone cancellation
on 1/25/15 which was time stamped at 9:55am PST.
On
2/21/15, Customer J called our customer service department again to inquire
about charges. In this phone call, Customer J stated the billing she was
inquiring about occurred in February 2015, however we did not perform any
billing after the account was cancelled on 1/25/15. Our billing records
show $1.00 was charged on 12/14/14 for the 7 day trial period, and $49.60 was
charged on 12/21/15 after the trial period ended for the monthly service.
There were no further charges made to Customer J’s account.
We
apologize for any confusion, but in the complaint, Customer J states we told
her the charge was not from our organization. This comment was made due
to her reference of February 2015 charges, as we did not bill Customer J after
her cancellation on 1/25/15.
Upon
receiving this complaint, we attempted to contact Customer J on 3/06/15 at the
number listed on file to resolve this issue. We have refunded all charges
to Customer J totaling $50.60 and believe this fully resolves the customer’s
concerns.

Thank
you for notifying us of Customer J’s experience with our service. We
appreciate the opportunity to research and comment on what occurred with
Customer J’s account.
Our
records indicate that on 12/5/14 Customer J registered an account with
us. All members agree to be billed for a trial membership and then a
monthly membership fee each month thereafter until the account is
canceled. The Terms of Use and Pricing Information are clearly displayed
on our registration page, and we require each member to check a box stating
they have read and agree to the terms of use and pricing information, prior to
registering the account.
Customer
J cancelled the account on 12/28/14. A monthly membership fee was never
charged for this account.
A second
account was registered by Customer J on 6/4/15 using a different email
address. Customer J is requesting confirmation that the account has been
cancelled and that she will not be billed. Our customer service
department cancelled Customer J’s account on 6/8/15, and sent a confirmation
email including the cancellation number and stated that no monthly billing will
take place.
Our
customer service manager also attempted to contact Customer J by telephone, but
was unable to reach her. We are confident we have fully resolved Customer
J’s concern, as both of her accounts have been cancelled and no monthly
membership fee has ever been charged.
Review: I registered and pay fee to use services on the first day. After using services I realized that the company had a lot of repeat addresses on its list to make it look longer. I then cancelled. Afterwards I was informed of three payment of $49.60 from this company and I had not even allowed them to process my account info. for. I filed a complaint with my bank and cancelled my card. But I think this company is fraudulent due to the fact that I attempted to call 6 times both numbers ###-###-#### and ###-###-####. Every time I was put on hold for ten minutes and redirected to a voice mail system. Beware of this company. No Rental listing is worth $50 a month and especially with repeat info. and out of date listings.Desired Settlement: I want my money refunded, I also would like this company investigated for theft from other clients they may have done this to.

Review: They have falsely charged my bank account $49 per month for the last 3 months and I have never asked for there services or do I know what they do. I have no need for their services. I want reimbursement for these charges. My wife has contacted them personally and they sent her a form to fill out which ask that we sign and verify that we are members of their services. We are not members or do we want to be members. We just want our money back and for them to stop stealing from us. I am also going to file this with the FBI and may get my lawyer to look into this and if I find anymore wrong doing I may drag everyone else who has anything to do with this company into court with me. I have seen from other complaints that they have been doing this type of thing to many other people and they need to be stopped.Desired Settlement: I wish to be refunded and to never be contacted by this company for any reason or I will take further legal action.

Thank
you for notifying us of Mr. S’s comments regarding our service. We
appreciate the opportunity to investigate the situation, and respond to Mr. S’s
concern.
We
contacted Mr. S to inquire specifically about the property information he is
referring to in his comments. We learned that he was referring to 2
specific properties that seemed to be erroneously listed. We appreciate
the information Mr. S provided so we could conduct an internal investigate
regarding this information.
Upon
our investigation, we found that both of these properties were originally
listed by A[redacted] as properties for sale by owner. Apparently he
neglected to remove these listing once the homes were no longer
available, as they are still listed as active properties for sale on many
websites.
Please
know that we make our best efforts to achieve 100% accuracy in the data we
provide to our customers. We aggregate data from multiple sources
nationwide and are constantly adding and deleting properties from our database

notified our sources they should do the same.
We

that he was not able to speak with a representative due to extensive hold

Review: On 9/9/15 I signed up for a 14 day Trial on the rentbeforeowning site. My credit card was charged $1.00. I printed the internet page off as proof at the time that it says 14 day trial. Today is 9/22/15 and I cancelled my trial, as I found it to be no help at all as most of the places listed were not legit and those that I did call were unsatisfactory.Any how, I then checked my credit card statement, where I see that I was charged the $1.00 on 9/9/15, however on 9/16/15 I see an additional charge of $49.60 was taken out. That is 7 days after my free 14 day trial started. I wrote to them insisting on a full refund. I am reporting this to the Revdex.com because I bet there are many people out there who have been scammed by the "sign up for a 14 day trial" page on their website, pay the dollar for a test drive, then get charged a week later the full amount! Probably unaware, as I was.I wrote it down in my calendar that my 14 day trial ends 9/23/15 so I knew to cancel it no later than today. This was not an error, I have the printed page and you can see it on their website.Desired Settlement: Full refund $49.60

Thank
you for notifying us of Customer C’s experience with our service. We
appreciate the opportunity to research and comment on what occurred with
Customer C’s account.
Customer
C registered an account for our service on 9/9/15. She became aware of
our service through one of our partner websites called Homes.com. We regularly test
different offer configurations which is clearly stated in our terms
of use; “At its sole discretion, RentBeforeOwning.com may
offer different subscription terms on its Site and the membership fees for such
subscriptions may vary from time to time.” The Terms of Use and
Pricing Information are clearly displayed on our registration page, and we
require each member to check a box stating they have read and agree to the
terms of use and pricing information, prior to registering the account.
The Homes.com
website offers the RentBeforeOwning.com
membership for a 7 day trial, which is why Customer C was charged after the 7
day trial expired. Our home website for RentBeforeOwning.com is
currently offering a 14 day trial membership.
We see
that Customer C cancelled her membership on 9/22/15 using our IVR phone
system. She responded via email to our member cancellation survey
and requested a refund. The refund was granted, and an email was sent
confirming the refund amount along with the cancellation number.
Our Customer Service Supervisor also tried to contact Customer C
via telephone on 9/22/15 to confirm she received the cancellation email and
refund information, but was unable to reach her.
We
believe we have completely addressed Customer C’s concern and would consider
this matter closed.
Review: On or about March 9 2015 I initiated a 7 day trial use of this company's website. After browsing the site on that same day and not being impressed with what it had to offer, I cancelled the trial period. My credit card has been charged $49.95 although the trial period was canclled within an hour of signing up. I emailed the company and received a response that my credit card would be credited within 1-4 business days. Upon the 4th day I emailed customer service again and was told to check by end of day and if the refund had not been processed to call the customer service line which of course is not really a customer service line. This business is despicable. I just want my money back which has been stolen from me and that I've been lied to about.Desired Settlement: I want my money back. I've been robbed and lied to. Thank
you for notifying us of Customer O’s experience. We appreciate the
opportunity to research and respond to what has occurred with Customer O’s
account.
According
to our records, Customer O registered for an account on 2/17/2015. We did
not receive any communication from Customer O until 3/26/2015 when she
contacted our customer support department via email. In this email,
Customer O stated she had cancelled the account the same day she signed up for
the trial. Please know we keep a robust tracking system that time stamps
all correspondence including account registration and confirmed cancellation.
We did not receive a cancellation at any time from Customer O. However,
upon receiving her email on 3/26/2015, we immediately cancelled her
account. We also refunded the $49.60 membership fee on 3/26/2015.
In our email back to Customer O, we stated the refund would post back to her
account within 1-4 business days.
Upon
receipt of this complaint on 4/7/2015, we called Customer O at the number
listed on the complaint but were unsuccessful. The voice mail box was
full and we could not leave a message. We also sent an additional email
trying to contact Customer O. This email confirmed that our system shows
the refund was successful, and should have been posted back to Customer O’s
account. We are confident this fully resolves Customer O’s concern.
Review: I went to the website of this business and in order to look at what they had for rent, I had to pay $1.00 to view. This was on January 16, 2015. Today January 29th, I get a bill on my account which I did not authorize for $49.80. I tried to call the number given ###-###-#### and ###-###-####. I was placed on hold for over 6 minutes and then I was told by a recording that they could not take my call. I call again on the second number and I was on hold for over 10 minutes and again I was told by a recording they could not take my call.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of the $49.80 and for pain and suffering I would like to be compensated for the time I was on hold which comes to $32.00. Also my account was overdrawn and I would like the NSF charge of $30.00. I'm tired of companies trying to scam people out of their hard earned money.

requests from Customer B until 1/29/2015 when she cancelled the service via our
automated phone system. We understand that when the customer called
initially there was a long hold time. We apologize for this, and would
like to state that in the event a customer does not wish to hold, we offer
“Queue Callbacks”, which allows callers an opportunity to automatically receive
a callback when their position arrives in the queue, without needing to stay on
hold. Callers can also enter an alternate number so they are not tied to
waiting on a work or landline phone for their callback. Also, we listen
and respond to all voicemails and emails within 8 hours. According to our
records, Customer B was able to use our automated phone system on 1/29/15 to
cancel her account.
On 1/30/2015, Customer B called our
customer service department and requested a refund. We explained we saw
no record of cancellation prior to the bill date but issued a courtesy refund
per her request due to the charge occurring so close to the cancellation
request. In this phone call, Customer B did state this resolved her
concern.
Upon receipt of this complaint from
the Revdex.com, we attempted to contact Customer B at the number listed on the
complaint but were unsuccessful. We left message confirming the refund
given per her phone call on 1/30/15. We have attempted again
to reach the customer on 2/9/15 to confirm this issue is resolved, but were
unable to reach her. We are confident the refund provided on 1/30/15 of $49.80
resolves Customer B’s concerns.
Review: I just received a phone call in my Realty office from a consumer who paid to be on Rent to Own site. She said one of our agents was showing up to call. I went to the site and they are taking information for every listing and putting it on their site like they are For Sale by owner or foreclosures when they' re not!!!! I see many properties on the site that are owner occupied and this company is scraping info. from our MLS or some where falsely leading the public!! This must be stopped. I want all my listings removed.Desired Settlement: I want my companies listings off the web site immediately!

Thank you for notifying us of L.R.’s concern about certain listings
appearing on our website. We researched the situation and contacted L.R. by
telephone to discuss her concerns on 11/12/2014. We explained that our website
displays many types of listings, not only foreclosure or lease option
properties. In addition, we also explained the listings displayed for her real
estate company were received and authorized for display based on a listing
syndication agreement in place with a national MLS real estate data provider.
We also confirmed the listings for her brokerage are displayed as traditional
re-sales, and are not shown as foreclosure or rent to own listings.
Based on our conversation with L.R., we believe we have addressed her
concerns to her satisfaction. However, per L.R.’s request, we have also sent
her an email and provided her an opportunity to advise us the details (such as
street address or MLS#) of any home listings she would like to have removed
from our site. While we believe our website provides sellers with valuable
exposure to a large pool of real estate buyers nationwide, we will be happy to
accommodate any listing removal requests.
L.R. is welcome to contact us by phone or email if we can be of additional
service.

Do not use this site. It is very difficult to cancel and you can not get through to speak to customer service for problems or questions you might have. What they display is not accurate information. When you have canceled; they continue to charge your account.
Review: the web site is very misleading, very evasive. the site leads one to believe that they will only be charged one dollar, three weeks later you will be charged 50 dollars very misleading....straight up scam. who needs to look at a rent to own web site on a monthly bases at the cost of 50 dollars a month SCAMDesired Settlement: PUT IN BIG BOLD LETTERS THAT A CUSTOMER WILL BE CHARGED AN ADDITIONAL 50 DOLLARS IN THREE WEEKS IF HE OR SHE PAYS THAT ONE DOLLAR TO LOOK AT RENTED HOUSES ON THAT SITE

Thank
you for notifying us of Customer G’s experience with our service. We
appreciate the opportunity to research and comment on what occurred with
Customer G’s account.
As
Customer G states, an account was registered for our service on 7/10/15 with an
agreement to be billed for a 7 day trial membership and a monthly membership
fee each month thereafter until the account is canceled. The Terms of Use
and Pricing Information are clearly displayed on our registration page, and we
require each member to check a box stating they have read and agree to the
terms of use and pricing information, prior to registering the account.
We do
not show any further correspondence from Customer G until we received the
information the Revdex.com provided to us on 8/7/15. Our Customer Service
Supervisor contacted Customer G on 8/7/15 to discuss the concerns. During
that phone conversation we granted Customer G a full refund. Customer G
stated he was completely satisfied with the resolution and was appreciative
that our customer service supervisor reached out to him directly.
