Review: I am from india. I arrived in New York on [redacted] Feb I went to Prepaid Mobile store to enquire about a prepaid SIM. I was shown different Lyca mobile prepaid sims ranging in price depending on the Talktime/Data etc available. I decided to take a $25 prepaid sim. I was asked to show a Identity proof so I gave that person my passport after that the person told me to give him a credit card which has the same name as that on the passport so I gave him my credit card. After that they generated the bill and the bill reflected an extra amount of $199.99 plus taxes. When I inquired to the store person about the extra $199.99 I was told that it was a DEPOSIT and Lyca Mobile would revert back it in my account after 30 days. Also in the bill that I was given the $199.99 amount was mentioned as 'Proxy' ideally they should have mentioned it as 'Deposit' Once back in my hotel room I decided to confirm with Lyca Mobile if they had such policy so I contacted them and I was told that Lyca Mobile does not have any policy of taking deposit money from its customers. The next day I went to Prepaid Mobile store and told the person over there that I had a word with Lyca Mobile and they does not have any policy of collecting any deposits and asked him to give my 199.99+tax back but the person told me that it is not Lyca Mobile policy but there store 'Prepaid Mobiles' policy of taking deposit money and he told me that they have around 500 stores in USA so I asked him for a customer care no of 'Prepaid Mobile' and the person was like we don't have a Customer cr you give us your number and we will make them call you. Is it possible that 'Prepaid Mobile' that according to the store person has 500 stores across US does not have a customer cr ? Again I had no option but to walk back from that store and I was almost fully convinced that this was some kind of Scam and mostly I wont be getting my money back. I had not expected this kind of thing to happen in a Developed and first world country like US that also in New York. I also searched on internet and came across a forum where one user was also had a similar experience with the same store below is the link [redacted] There is also one more complain about the same store on your site itself [redacted] Also I have raised a complain by calling 311 below is the complaint number [redacted] Please investigate this issue.Desired Settlement: Refund of extra money charged to my Credit Card A/C.

Response:
Customer had purchase a prepaid sim card from the store for $25. The rest amount was 199.99 international credit to call abroad. Customer was full aware of the plans and the rates under store policy, once the prepaid plans are purchased we cant cancel, and all the remaining credit will expire in 30 days from the date of purchase. Store policy for prepaid are stated on the receipt as well in the store .

Response:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
The response provided by the vendor is a straight lie. Vendor did not tell us anything about charging extra 199.99$ for International call purpose. We got to know about it only when he swiped our credit card into his system and generated the bill. The vendor told me that $199.99 was deposit (caution money) which was shown as "Proxy" in bill receipt and also this money will be debited each time I make an international call and after 30 days remaining amount will be credited back to my account. Now he is telling that it was for 'international credit to call abroad' and that the 'credit will expire in 30 days'.
Vendor had shown me different plans from Lyca Mobile which were priced differently according to the Local / International talktime , data , available on them. My primary objective of getting a Prepaid Sim card was that I could get a local number so that any one could contact me if required. Hence I went for the
cheapest available plan out of all the plans the vendor had shown to me.
If I wanted to call abroad I could have paid an extra $14 and got a $39 Plan in which I was getting aprox.(1000 Min) India calling which was more than enough for me as I was in USA for only 15 days (The vendor had shown me this plan as well), Why would I pay $199.99 more for the same thing which I am getting by paying $14 extra ?
And if the vendor says that $199.99 was for international call credit then why is this credit not reflecting in my prepaid balance ? I can provide you my Lyca mobile number and you can verify with Lyca mobile if required. Also the vendor should have clearly mentioned something like 'Credit' against the $199.99 in the bill. Why did he mention 'Proxy' against $199.99 in the bill ?
This all clearly proves that the explanation given by the vendor is not at all true. He provided me misleading information and his main objective was to exhort money from me.
Sincerely,
Consumer

Review: I visited Manhattan between [redacted] of July 2014.
In order to find my way around I purchased a SIM card with 1G data in this store on [redacted]. I paid 10$ cash, but the sales person asked for my credit card, just in case I will exceed the data on the card.
When I got back home I noticed a charge of 217$ in my credit card, although I did not exceed the data on the card. When I emailed the store to understand why they charged me, they replied it is a contract for 180 days, and I will get a refund after this period.
My 180 days were over a week ago, but the shop refuse to refund my money.Desired Settlement: please help get my refund back

Review: During my stay in New York I have also become the victim of PREPAID MOBILE SHOP LLC, GOGO Mobile LLC, since on October **, 2014 I have purchased a Sim card (Simple mobile) from the Prepaid Mobile (Fashion Ave [redacted]) for 30 USD + tax. The problem is they didn't tell me they would charge extra $381,05 USD as a "deposit". And the scheme is the following: one person is speaking with you, while another asks for your credit card - just for "registration". Then they provide you with the receipts and are trying for you not to notice the sums that are indicated, but you are charged absolutely other sums more than 10 times bigger. I have noticed that they had taken much more and have requested to return the money immediatelly, but they have informed me that it would not be possible and the money on the credit card are not charged but blocked. Moreover they would be returned after 30 days and I have to sign a corresponding paper. Anyway totally 413,71 USD have been charged simultaneously from the credit card by third party organization:
Transaction: ....................................NEW YORK\GOGO MOBILE I 01.**.14 **.10.14 413.71 USD
Date of purchase: ** October 2014
Date of charging from the account: ** November 2014
According to receipts provided by them I have paid the following: 25 USD - for a "prepaid plan" and 5 USD - for calling abroad (Intl add on) and 381.05 USD for "Prepaid mobile sim agreement".
Trans # [redacted]
Register: Register 2004-MT-6003
Date: Thu, Oct ** 2014 10:22 AM
Payment received $381 05
Trans # [redacted]

Date: Thu, Oct ** 2014 10:22 AM
1 INTL ADD ON $5
1 PREPAID PLAN $25
Payment received $32.66
Anyway the option "Calling abroad" was not available (as I have got known from the Simple mobile customer care), moreover Simple mobile customer care assistant has informed me that this is a fraud and the company Simple mobile is never charging any deposit. I've contacted my bank
immediatelly to freeze the operation due to fraud and block the credit card, but unfortunatelly the operation further was approved (corresponding complaint has been written to the bank). Not so long ago the decision of my bank ([redacted] - [redacted]) was negative, since they have requested the documents from the seller confirming the purchase and some documents have been provided. As for the contract itself - it is concluded with PrepaidMobileShop LLC, money charged by [redacted], reply to the bank sent by Simple Mobile Central - [redacted]. There are no their signatures on the contracts or bills that I have or that have been provided by them to the bank.
I have sent several e-mails with the complaints to [redacted] and [redacted] and I have got an answer from [redacted] (Support Team; Prepaid Mobile LLC). He has informed me that the sum would be returned within 30-180 days (our correspondence is enclosed).
Further on December **, 2014 I have written once again (see below) and the corresponding answer that the money is to be returned within 180 days has followed (not enclosed). I have tried to contact them in order to provide me with an update concerning the date of refunding the money but all the e-mails are being blocked. Their web site ([redacted]) is blocked. On the web site [redacted] I have found information that they have moved to another web site [redacted] and this e-mail can be used: [redacted]. Simultaneously with sending e-mail to [redacted] (a person from NYPD who is prosecuting the criminal part of the case against this company) I have sent an e-mail to [redacted] and have received the same automatic responce from the company concerning that the money are to be back within 180 days.
I also have the documents that have been provided to my bank by the person [redacted] (as indicated on the fax). He has provided the fake documents, namely, the single bill and the contract I have never seen or signed. And it is easy to compare the signatures on both documents - it is the same "photoshop" or any other means made.
Please note that there are lots of foreigners that had the same situation. They have also filed the corresponding Revdex.com, for example: # [redacted], #[redacted] and etc.
Sincerely yours,
Consumer

Review: hello, I would like to report malpractice store: Prepaid Mobile, [redacted] By, among others, man standing on the sidewalk with advertising that encourages store to buy the cheapest SIM card to the mobile phone in the "neighborhood" - only $ 15. The shop seller confirms that they are able to offer a SIM card for only $ 15 and capability ensures that despite the much larger amount in the account a significant portion of the approximately 7-10 days come back to the bank account of the buyer. Unfortunately, nothing happens. Their cheapest cards turn out to be much more expensive than the T-Mobile. 1) Please verify this to protect other tourists from fraud. 2) I wonder if the intervention of your shop anyway will want to return some of the moneyDesired Settlement: Repayment of part of the money according to the declaration. I paid $ 137.18 instead of $ 15. They should give more than $ 100!

Response:
Custumer had purchase a prepaid sim card with $15 basic plan. When you first purchase a sim card store charges a sim card and activation fee, which are non refundable. This is the charge the store charges when we sell the plans, and under store policy once plans are purchased they are non refundable at any case. Store policy is stated on the receipt and in the store thanks

Response:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
[hello,
given feedback from the store is clear. However, the seller in a shop in the course of the transaction communicate different information. Ensure that part of the amount in a few days will be returned (in the meantime, ask a question about how long a tourist stays in NY), their response on the return part of the money, of course, refers to the period when the tourist NY gone.
Having doubts about ensuring I was in the store the next day after buying the card. Seller re-assured me that some of the money for sure will be refunded. Please put on your website reports that in the shop and on the street advertising the shop work freeloaders who rely on the gullibility of tourists knowingly entering their confusion - pulling money out. Fees for the cards in this store are also much higher than in the company store T-mobile (three streets next).]

Review: I'm writing to tell you a situation that happened to me and to my wife when we were in NYC for vacation.
My name is [redacted], I'm from Brazil. I word as a lawyer here. My wife is a doctor.
Well, in december [redacted], we were looking for a prepaid sim card to access internet and do some calls to our family in Brazil. Around our hotel (NYMA - New York Manhatan Hotel) there was a PREPAID MOBILE store. We go there and buy a sim card for $20 dollars (SIMPLE MOBILE).
They gave us another sim card for for free, to use with our IPAD (we bought the cellphone - Samsung Galaxy S5 and the IPAD from them).
They told us that will be necessary a pre-authorization in our credit card to do that, in case of desagreement of the contract (like use another company sim card while we were in US). The problem is: we never desagree the terms but, despite that, they charge us in $3.099,96, as descripted below:
Transation Number [redacted]: $1.299,98 (SIMPLE MOBILE CENTRAL SIM CARD AGREEMENT - $499,99 + SIMPLE MOBILE CENTRAL NO CONTRACT AGREEMENT - $799,99).
Transation Number [redacted]: $1.799,98 (SIMPLE MOBILE CENTRAL SIMCARD AGREEMENT - $799,99 + SIMPLE MOBILE CENTRAL NO CONTRACT AGREEMENT - $999,99).
TOTAL: $3.099,96
We tried many times to talk to them and the cellphone company, and no one seems able to to help us. You are our last hope.
They told us that we have to pay even more fees if we want to receive the money immediately or wait for 6 months (until JUNE).
There's a LOT of people in the same situation, as you could see here: [redacted]
They are cheating on people, especially tourists.
Please, take a look in the attachs. They prove what I'm talking about.
This is their contact: [redacted]
Thank you for your atention. I'll be waiting for your awnser. God bless you.
P.S.: sorry for my bad english.Desired Settlement: The business must refund me in TOTAL: $3.099,96

Review: On Feb **, 2014, I purchased a prepaid mobile sim from Prepaid Mobile. I believed I purchased a $40 Unlimited SimpleMobile Prepaid Plan that includes 1 GB of data. However the sales person ([redacted]) gave me a $39 Prepaid plan with LycaMobile that only came with 500mb of data. In addition, I was enrolled in a monthly direct debit scheme - which I was not made aware of at the time of purchase. Prepaid Mobile also charged a deposit of $399.97 explaining that if I made any phone calls while overseas the balance would come out of the deposit. [redacted] did not mention any monthly renewal period. [redacted] also explained they do not provide the full terms and conditions of the prepaid plan. I was charged in total $479.04 which included $40 for the Prepaid plan, $399.97 deposit and taxes.
On March **, 2014, I received an SMS from Lycamobile explaining my prepaid plan would be renewed. I then called Lycamobile to cancel the monthly renewal. Lycamobile then explained what plan I was on ($39 Unlimited USA Talk, Text & Data) as well they do not require any deposit. The Lycamobile customer service representative could not explain why the store would require a $399.97 deposit and suggested I contact the store where I purchased the plan. Lycamobile also suggested how I can make a complaint about their distributors.
On March **, 2014, I went to the Prepaid Mobile store and asked to have my deposit immediately credited back to my credit card. I was told by the salesperson ([redacted]) that he would investigate the matter and email me back within a couple of days. I left with him my name and email, a copy of the receipt and the prepaid mobile number to investigate. I also found a complaint on the internet that Prepaid Mobile did not return the deposit. [redacted] It is one week later and I still have not received any reply from Prepaid Mobile.Desired Settlement: I would like a written apology and $479.04 credited to my credit card which is the prepaid mobile fee, deposit and tax within 7 days.

Review: I bought a sim card for 20$. The seller told me that he needed to link my credit card to my sim card.
Then he swept my card and print a contract. While signing the contract I got distracted by a seller who started a friendly conversation.
As a result, I didn't see that between the paper there was an invoice of $1000.
3 days later I realized that I've been charged of $1000 without my consent. I went back to the shop to contest the paiement.
The seller explained me that it was a normal deposit and that I would get my money back within a week. He asked me to send an e-mail to: [redacted] A week later, my money wasn't back. So I send en e-mail again. I was told to wait an other extra week. But nothing happed. From now, I can't get any further response from the seller.Desired Settlement: I'd like a refund for the "deposit' I didn't agree for.
Review: my name is [redacted], and I am a tourist from Israel. I bought a mobile phone on December [redacted] from Prepaid mobile store, rate agreed was $326.61. they indeed charged me on my CC for that amount, plus $299.99, convincing me that I will be refunded for the $299.99 within a week after returning to Israel, and using my phone with a local sim, as long as it is not at&t.
3 months have gone by, and I still did not get the $299.99 back. the store does not answer my calls, nor my emails. they stole $300 from me, and today I saw that they did the same thing to other people.Desired Settlement: refund from the store for $300
Review: I am a Mexican tourist who went to New York for vacation during the week of Dec. **, 2015 - Jan. *, 2016. During my vacation I purchased an IPhone 5s in this stablishment for USD $250. The terms for giving me this price as that I did not put an [redacted] sim card on the phone for 6 months or I would be charged a fine of USD$499, ONLY if I put a sim card from [redacted] before the 6 month period had ended. When I came back home to Mexico, I realized my bank statement showed both charges, USD$250 for the phone and the USD $499 fine. The receipt is printed at 1:48 pm Dec. [redacted] 2015, and BOTH charges were made at 1:49 pm of the same day, meaning I hadn't even left the store when the fine was charged, so there is no way I could've changed the sim card, since the sales person hadn't even handed me the phone by then. I've been trying to contact the stablishment, and the first day they answered and said the manager was not in and to call the next day, the haven't answered me since then, this call was on Friday [redacted], 2016. I've been calling every day several times a day and get no answer.
Review: I bought a sim card and paid cash ($10.89) for it, but had to leave a refundable deposit Of $200 plus taxes charged to my visa. I was told that I would get my refund after 180 days which expired last December. I have made numerous contact to the company but have not received my refund so far.Desired Settlement: I have a [redacted] account they can deposit my refund.there seems to be a lot of complain about this outfit. I plan to visit the store soon personally if I don't get my refund soon. I have a pdf and original receipts to share if needed.

Review: I recently came to NY with my wife and we were at Times Square. We needed prepaid sim card for 2-3 weeks. We saw this shop on the street and went into check if we can get a prepaid sim card for temporary use. The sale guy asked how many days you need sim for, we said 2-3 weeks max. He said he has a plan for a month which will cost me 20$ and unlimted calling plus text free. I said I need intntl calling as well, he offered a 5$ top up which can give 1000 free intl' minutes. Plan seems good and I took it. He asked for identity and credit card, I gave my driving licence and said will pay by cash as it is just 25$. He said we need your crdit card for security reason, I gave and said charge 25$ also from card. He swapped it for 571$, YES 544 extra USD and said this is a security deposit we will refund you after 30 days of expiry of your plan. First he said we have just blocked this amount on your card, when I checked with bank, its charged. Then sales guy said, dont worry you will get your money back once you stop using the sim and place a request to the particular mail id. I did but got the same reply. Sales guy did not tell me in advance that he will charge me 571$ for "JUST A PREPAID SIM CARD FOR A MONTH's USE". When I argued him he misbehaved, said do what you want to do and leave this shop. Since I am a tourist I was scared and left. Here I dont see a business ethics that if a customer is asking for a prepaid card for a month, the company can keep a security deposit of 544$ that to without consent? Why on earth someone pay so much money for a deposit for just a prepaid sim card? If sales guy would have told me in advance I would have never given my credit card to them. I feel I am cheated and lost money. Please help. These guys have done similar stuff with others in past, see:[redacted]Desired Settlement: I simply want my 544 USD refunded to me immidiately. I am new to the city and do not have much money. Need money badly. If they want take their SIM and refund me entire money (571). I never want to see their face in my life.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
I was never informed or asked about deposit of 499 USD. Why on this earth someone pay 499 USD deposit for a prepaid sim card? At the same time I bought a prepaid sim from [redacted] and they charged just the monthly charges, they did not even ask for my credit card. Same was with [redacted] and [redacted]. Are you someone special or you providing some exceptional services? And after all if I would have agreed to pay any amount why would have I been fighting here? Please explain why you take that deposit and what is the purpose. Why you need a whopping 500 USD deposit when a customer needs a prepaid sim for 10-20 days which is worth 20 USD? YOUR SALES PERSON HAS SWIPED MY CARD WITHOUT MY INFORMATION FOR MORE THAN THE AMOUNT AGREED BY ME.Your sales guy never informed me that he is swiping the card for 571 USD which has 500 as deposit. Also, I was paying cash, he dint take it, he said need your card for security reasons, what security reasons? In the marked no one takes deposit for even post paid contracts and you need for prepaid? Your sales guy did not take any signature or asked me to sign the credit card receipt, he just handed over to me and when started arguing your [redacted] misbehaved with me and my wife why so? Send the signed copy of CREDIT CARD RECEIPT so every one can see here. Your sales guy took my signature on small paper document mentioning this is just a document for our records, he never ever mentioned me about that 500 USD swipe. Also, when I got notice from my bank then I got to know that he swiped so much money on card, when I asked he said its just blocked and not charged, when I further argued he said, you just write a mail and you will get your full money back in 14 days, why did he mislead customer? I wrote a mail got a confirmation that you will pay me in 1-14 days of time. Today its more than 20 days, I haven't got a single penny out of it...why? See the attached mail confirmation from your team. Further, every customer has a right to return the product in this country, I proposed to return my sim just 2 minutes after I bought it and I was in your shop, your guys said I will be charged 165 USD if I return the sim. You think its fair business practice that you will charge 165 USD for returning a USD 25 sim? You think you are doing right with customers? Also, if you think you are doing a fair business then why there is a complain by so many international customers and the matter is same? Do you think all are wrong except you? See the link, do you still think you are right? [redacted]
Fine...lets agree that you charged me a deposit but you suppose to pay it back? You agreed to pay me in the mail, I haven't still received the money? Why? I am not using your product, no transaction...please pay my money as it is? Why you keeping it? Who has given you right to do so? You have made this as your business, to cheat international customers as once they leave the country they wont come for 500 USD or so. I am here in New York only and will not spare you unless you pay my hard earned money back.
I do not want to discuss it further and waste my time, please ensure refunding my money or I will file a complain with Attorney in next one week. Rest is up to you.
In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

No one explained me terms and conditions and no one allowed me to read. The business simply told me this is for security purpose and infact business told me that your card has not been charged for 571 USD, it is just charged for 27 USD. My bank statement shows that I was charged for 571 USD.Also, your agreement doesn't say customer will wait for full 180 days...the exact language of the useless peace of paper says. "Any plan we issue last a minimum of30 days from the date of purchase. Processing deposit back to customers debit/credit card takes a minimum of 30 days after the purchase is made and could take maximum of 180 days to fully process back to the debit/credit on file."See the attachment and same language you will see. This says 30-180 days and around 75 days has been passed since I purchase and 45 days since my plan is over. Now you can say your agreement is wrong itself? That's why I attached. Open your eyes and see it. Also, I never signed an agreement and you think I am fool that I will sign and pay you 570 USD for a prepaid sim? First you explain the reason of taking 500 USD deposit for a prepaid sim card? Do you have a reason? That's why you were behind bars and you will be behind bars again and I will be going to NYPD and meet [redacted]) to file a complain against you once I am in New York and remember its not far I am there next week only and I have all the receipts and documents as a proof. Better you process my refund before that. It will save you from another legal complications.?
In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,
Review: They offered a prepaid mobile data plan where they charged 15 dollars for the plan but charged 99 dollars as a "reserve" on case you go over your limits. They also charged an extra 100 dollars for a wifi hotspot device that is to be reindeer once you return the device. Warning signs that I should have picked up on was that they don't present you with a contract to sign. They don't clearly explain the reserve charges and present that to you last minute ambushing you with it. They also do not not give a proof of credit. There is a verbal promise to return the money within one week after termination of service. A phone number is given to contact then but the phone number proceeds straight to voice mail.Desired Settlement: The desired outcome would be if they return the monies that are owed that they wrongly held onto.

Review: I am an international traveller visiting [redacted]. I went in the store "Prepaid-Mobile LCC" to buy a prepaid sim card. The salesperson asked me for my credit card and he insisted that this is a regulation applied in all USA. I gave him the credit card Plus $10 the sim card cost. He then printed me a receipt with $1499 taken from my credit card without my consent. When I complained about this, he said this is a requirement that we link your card with the sim and it will be used for authorisation purpose only and we have not charged you anything. When I went home, I noticed that the amount was taken from my card and never came back again. When I wrote them an email about this suspicious deposit, they reply that they will give me back my money in 180 days. But I have serious doubts about it...Desired Settlement: A complete refund of the 1499$ charged
