Power Home Remodeling Group Reviews (609)

Power Home Remodeling treats their potential female clients poorly. I agreed to an estimate to be nice to the kid selling the estimates and called to reschedule. They REFUSED to come out unless my spouse was home, even though I am the sole owner, and only name on the title and the mortgage, and my husband and I are able to make big decisions without the other's attendance. I said as much to the confirmation agent who replied that the company policy will not allow the estimator to come out unless my husband is home. It's bad enough that they send children door to door after dark in an era where that scares a homeowner, but to then refuse service because my husband has to be at work at the one time I am available for the estimate. He can't do it himself because he is NOT the homeowner. Their sexist practices will keep me from EVER using their services.

Review: This is a second complaint. The contract with Power HRG. is to replace a Bay window, size 93"x53.5". The first date was 6/26/2014. The window was the wrong size too small 90"x49". I refused the window after the installation of the window. The installers tried to hide the fact the window was to small by covering their mistake and making a botched job. Michael C[redacted] PII Manager came and said they would make awider casement but could not make a 93"x53.5" window.

I spoke to Michael D[redacted], Project manager in charge of all the PII mnager and he told me and my son on 7/8/2014 he assured us the specially made 93"x53.5" window would be installed on 7/17/2014 and he would personally come to the house on 7/16/2014 to talk to me. Michael never showed up, but on 7/17/2014 the same installers with the same window except the casement was wider, came. I refused the window and have not heard from anyone from the Power HRG. since. My son has called and Michael D[redacted] promised he would call me and as of 7/23/2014 has never called.Desired Settlement: A Bay window 93"x53.5 properly installed.

Review: We agreed to a "free" estimate which the representative told us would not take more than thirty minutes. Our estimate was scheduled for 6:30pm and at 8:30pm the salesman was still in our home giving us his sales pitch. He was asked to leave several times prior to this. He finally gave us a quote, and then became very rude when we would not commit to the contract on the spot. He was told that he needed to leave our house as the sales pitch was going on over two hours and he started to gather his things. He took his items to his vehicle, and returned with a higher quote than what he had quoted us previously.

Prior to this "free" estimate, we were contacted roughly four months before and setup an estimate, to which we later cancelled that same day. Since then, I have received phone calls on a biweekly basis from this company, and have asked each time that they remove my phone number from their database. I am always assured that it will be removed, and that I will no longer receive phone calls, yet I continue to receive them! Short of blocking their number, I'm not sure how else to handle this company!Desired Settlement: I want to make Revdex.com and other consumers of this sales tactic and I want this company to stop contacting my fiance and I.

Review: High pressure sales people ring my doorbell at least twice a month every month and will not take no for an answer. Repetitive in person solicitation is harassment. Am considering an order of protection against their salespeople.Desired Settlement: Change their solicitation process. Use advertising via appropriate mediums. .. Not door to door solicitation on private property.

the crew is doing an amazing job. they came in and went right to work. THe material power is using on our roof and the warranty gives us peace of mind that we will never have to worry about.

Review: On November 11, 2013, we set up a meeting with a Representative from Power HRG to discuss the replacement of our roof. During this presentation, me and my daughter spoke in detail with the representative regarding the needs of our roof and gutters. We explained that the roof had two layers of shingles and had not been replaced in over 15 years. When inspecting the roof, the representative was notified that there was NO inside access to the roof. He was notified that the gutter may need replacing due to previous roofing work. After review of everything, the representative ensured us that we were not in need of gutters and that we only needed the hangings. He also stated that there was no internal damage to the ceilings that would suggests that we needed wood replacing during the roof work. When the roof was measured he stated that the roof was 1400 sq. ft. and the cost for the work would be $12, 505.19. The representative then stated that the next step would be for the project manager to come out and see exactly what products would be needed for the day of the work. The representative ensured me that their would not be a contractor asking for a large amount of money once the work was started. However, today when the project manager, [redacted], came out, after reviewing the roof from the outside and coming inside to look for access that was already explained not to be available, he then stated that wood must be replaced all around the home without even seeing what was under the shingles. He also stated that the initial representative measured the roof incorrectly. He stated that the roof was actually 1925 sq. ft. and the price would now be $20,000. I clearly explained to [redacted] that this was unacceptable. How could the initial quote be so far off? He stated that this representative was not trained to know these things but yet we signed a contract with him and the company has already used my credit to secure financing. [redacted] was informed that I needed to speak to a manager before moving forward. [redacted] at that time stated that he would refer us to a manager but we should know that the price could not come down anymore. Less than 5 minutes after [redacted] left the home, I received a call from [redacted] stating that he was sorry and would speak to the initial representative regarding his mistakes but insisted that the price would be the same and he could not provide me with a clear quote unless I was signing a contract. [redacted] also stated that the new price was actually $21,132.73, which was even more than what the project manager stated. He also stated that I had to give him an answer quickly, even though in Power's advertising, quotes are said to be good for one year. This would be considered a new quote since Power is renegotiating the price of the job. Due to this HORRIBLE experience and several other SIMILAR complaints, noted here on Revdex.com, I will not be using Power's services and I will not be referring them to anyone else.Desired Settlement: I prefer not to move forward with Power's services.

Review: Power Home Remodeling has repeated violated soliciting laws in [redacted] County in 2013 and 2014. Soliciting door to door without a license is a Class II Misdemeanor. Solicitors refused to present documentation, lied about knowing the legal requirements of the county, and acted aggressive and hostile when asked for their license. Their unprofessional demeanors would make it hard to discern if they are legitimately soliciting or canvassing houses for criminal reasons.

On a prior occasion in January 2013, at a high pressure sales pitch for an estimate at an area home improvement show, they misrepresented the type of work performed by the company. In retrospect, it's clear the salesman was trying to hit a quota for "free estimate" signups, regardless of whether they had any intention of performing the work. They abruptly canceled the day of the appointment, after the specific work in question was repeated to them again. Nonetheless, they subsequently telephoned repeatedly with solicitations (despite not offering services requested.)

The incidents span a period of 18 months; it is clear the company maintains highly questionable sales practices. Regarding the solicitations, complaints have been placed with both the police and the appropriate agencies at [redacted] County.Desired Settlement: All solicitors should be properly licensed in appropriate jurisdictions, including [redacted] County. Solicitors should not repeatedly solicit houses in the same day, and should not react with hostility when asked if they are in compliance with the law.

Review: This afternoon when I arrived to my home I found a woman just leaving my property. I asked her if I could help her with anything and she said she worked with Power Home Remodeling Group and wanted to know if I wanted a free estimate for new siding for my house. She said her company was in the area and that she could give me a free estimate this afternoon.

After thinking about it for a minute I agreed to her terms since it was a free estimate that could be done today since my wife and I have been thinking about painting the house.

As it turned out, the sales person asked me to get on the phone with her scheduler who took my full name, address and telephone number. In addition, he wanted to know how many people live in the house and my spouse's full name.

When I said I wasn't going to share my wife's name and that I was only interested in the free estimate offered to me few minutes before, the scheduler said that they want to come to my house when both are in the property. I replied that since we have a baby we're busy when we arrive from work.

In summary, this company decided that they could only give me a free estimate when my wife and I are both at home changing the previous verbal agreement I was given few minutes before while taking all my contact information with them.

I should have expected this to be a big scam and since they said they're a Revdex.com company, I want you to know that this company since to be collecting private information from individuals with the excuse of providing free estimates.

I hope you take the necessary measures to fix this scam.Desired Settlement: I would like a promise from them that they'll destroy the information they collected from me and that it will never be shared with other companies.

Dear **. & [redacted]. [redacted],

First and foremost, thank you for

taking the time to write about your experience.

Valuable input and feedback from homeowners like you help eliminate

these types of issues in the future. I

apologize that our interactions have caused undue stress and aggravation to you

and your family.

I understand

how difficult it is to organize your busy schedule to be available for an

estimate on a home improvement project.

Among the things that we require to provide an estimate are that all the

homeowners, decision makers, and involved parties are present to get the

information. It is not to force a sale,

like the case may seem. We do that to

put ourselves in the best position to earn your future business by ensuring

that we’ve done everything in our power to educate you on the industry, the

products, our company, and the investment that is involved. Without speaking to everyone, we have no

opportunity to do that and only invite the chance of miscommunication or the

need to visit each home multiple times.

We’ve been in business for 25 years, and have found that our customers,

and potential customers, are happiest in the end when they’ve received all the

information they need before getting involved with a home improvement. Because of that, it has become one of our

most important policies.

This is the

first time I am learning about your dissatisfaction and will take the steps necessary

to rectify the situation. We will systematically address this issue as

follows; flag your records in our database to prevent future calls from anyone

in the company, remove the number from the predictive dialer, and post the

number to our own internal DNC list, which prevents it from loading into the

dialer system

We apologize

for the inconvenience and give assurance that we will do our best to make sure you

will not hear from us again. Hopefully

this will help to absolve our company of any wrongdoing. If there is

anything else I can do to assist, please contact me directly via the

information noted below.

[A default letter is provided here which indicates your acceptance of the business's response. If you wish, you may update it before sending it.]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. However, I wished the company representative who sent me the letter would have added that they're going to train their sales people better so they don't go around promising actions they can't deliver.I'm no one to judge the way your company runs its business, but offering two different versions of your free estimate to potential customers doesn't seem to be the correct way to gain any trust from future clients.

They knocked on my door and offered free estimate on roof.
I have a small roof leak and I wanted to fix it.
The solicitor asked for too much unnecessary information and then I had to repeat the same information to another guy on the phone.
The sales person that came in to do the "estimate" wasn't interested in the roof repair that I needed, his goad was clearly to talk me into replacement of the entire roof and that the roof is due for replacement. The price he quoted me was $15K - what??? That is for 1500 sq ft roof. No way. And then offered a "huge" discount of $11.5K if I sign up for it the same night.
No way Hose.
Now it was about 3 weeks since that visit and I noticed that they call me every day including Saturdays. My spam filter on Google Voice successfully blocks their calls so they don't bother me and I only notices it by checking spam folder. But I feel bad for other people who gives them their real home or cell number and they can't block their calls.
Do not deal with them, this company is scam.

I've never worked with a company so thorough, professional, courteous, and with the top of the line products. They constantly follow up with you every step of the process and even after its finished they sent a follow up manager just to check that we had a great experience, which we did. I will be telling everyone I know about power!

It was simple from beginning to end, including the financing. The product seems to be great quality and the people are great too. Great experience all around!

Review: Power Home Remodeling is a scam organization going door to door upselling unsuspecting homeowners unneeded home improvements. I was the victim of this company's scam tactics in November 2013 and April 2014, during which the company sold me a new roof I didn't need and got me to sign a line of credit with [redacted] Bank that I didn't need. The first roof cost $18,000 and the second $9,000. A legitimate company would charge $5,000 for a new roof and would not push a sale when my roof is fine. They use tactics like if you sign today you get a 25% discount, and ask questions about whether you live alone. I'm 87 and live alone, and obvious target. After canceling the first contract and warning them never to contact me (through my Power of Attorney [redacted]), they came back 6 months later! You'll see from [redacted] reviews that their customers all allege similar behavior.Desired Settlement: I want them to stop contact me. I also think you should be pursuing them to revoke their business license.

Review: Representatives from Power Home Remodeling knocked on my door on Friday, Feb. 7th. They told me they were replacing a roof for a neighbor of mine, and wanted to know if I wanted a free estimate. (I asked which neighbors, and they told me a name I had never heard of at an address several streets away.) I accepted, and provided my contact information. The representatives subsequently were very impolite and insensitive. I researched the company and learned of its notorious harassment practices. The next day, when the representatives were supposed to come to give me the estimate, I left a typed letter on the door informing them that I was no longer interested in the service and that I wanted my contact information to be removed from their records. I informed them that I would contact the Revdex.com if they contacted me again. The representatives did not knock on my door again, so they never retrieved the letter. Instead, they telephoned. I missed that first call. They called again on subsequent days. I sent a copy of my letter as an image attachment to a text message. They continued to call me several times per week. I tried answering the calls to ask them to stop calling, but each time I answered, the caller ended the call. The calls came from this number: ###-###-####.Desired Settlement: I want my complaint to be recorded along with the complaints of other people who have been harassed by Power Home Remodeling. This company claims to have an A+ rating with the Revdex.com. Their practices do not reflect this. I hope that my complaint will help the Revdex.com give the company a more accurate rating (which, I hope, will be a C- at best).

Response:

Very organized company. They stay in constant contact throughout the job and follow up at the end. Very happy with power!

Review: We were initially approached by the company for a free estimate of which we agreed to. At the time of the estimate the salesperson was very pushy and stayed at our house until after 10pm despite the fact that we had to put both of our young children to bed, stating that after he left the deals he offered us that evening would not be available the following day or any day after. After lots of thought we agreed the purchase of the window installation. We were promised things that never occurred. The most important to us was a "plastic bubble" that they agreed they would put on the inside of our house as the windows and home were very old and there was the potential of harmful lead paint. Considering the fact that we had very young children, one of which was crawling at the time, we felt that was a very beneficial part of the install. We had several issues with the financing and getting a hold of someone who could answer our questions, but those issues seem small compared to the ongoing issues we have had with this company. On the day of the install 4 men showed up...with no plastic bubble nor did they have all the required tools to complete the job. When they removed our old window they shattered the glass and shards were all over the inside of our house and our yard. Some of that glass cut one of the installers who them came in to my house with blood running down his leg and sweat all over his arms as he leaned over my upholstered kitchen chairs getting sweat all over the furniture. He came in asked for a first aid kit to take care of his wound as he did not have one in his work truck. While working on locating something for the unprepared installer, two other men came into the house - 1 asking of he could put his drinks in my freezer and another who asked for a cup of water, a request that was then echoed by another of the workers. Once they were all accommodated with drinks and band aids, they got to work while multitasking on a smoke break. Because they had just take out the whole window unit, the man puffing away, was blowing smoke directly into my house - and may I reiterate just one more time, we have children. When the job was finally completed, the workers came back into my house, asking for a broom and some cleaning supplies to finish the job they clearly weren’t equipped to handle. At the time of the install, there was a manager who was supposed to come to my house to review the work. He never came and the company stated that he was ill. After a week had passed, I called to see when that manager would be coming to look at the work, because I felt the job was left incomplete and there were greasy finger prints all over my trim. I was told at the time that no one would be coming back to look at the work because they didn’t do that with all jobs. It was at that time, that I requested to speak with a manager. The initial associate requested the reason that I asked for a manager and give him a rundown of the whole experience. This associate was extremely rude and told me that "everyone makes mistakes". The outcome after talking to the manager was a gift card, which wasn’t even enough to purchase curtains and paint to cover up the messy grease spots on my white trim. Since those conversations, I have received calls from the company, offering to come to my house for a free estimate. It was at that time that had told them of my previous issues and conversations and my vow to the previous manager to never do business with that company and that no one from Power Home Remodeling Group was permitted on my property ever again. My husband also received marketing calls on his phone as well. Today was the last straw as I was working from home today and got a knock at my door. It was Power Home Remodeling Group again!!! They didn’t even recognize their own work and there was no reason that they should have been knocking on my door - at this point, all my window and doors have been replaced...and they were not permitted to come on my property again. I did call to complain AGAIN today and was told that they would AGAIN remove my numbers and conveniently the VP of marketing was in a "meeting". I have had enough with this company and their shady and harassing marketing, poor craftsmanship and horrible customer service!.Desired Settlement: I want the money that invested in this window and to be repayed for the hours of time that I have spent speaking with several people at Power Home Remodeling Group - with no success

At this time Power Home sent out their HVAC mechanic to verify and was confirmed. The roofing contractors returned to remove part of the roof so repairs could be preformed. All is well at this point--Untill I try to get reimbursed for the cost of the original HVAC mechanic. Power Remodling agrees that they are at fault and agree to reimburse me the money in the form of a pre payed credit card that I have been waiting for approximatly 6 months now. To no avail.

Thank you for taking the time to write us. I have looked into your complaint and I see the gift card request was processed in the amount of $100.00 as reimbursement for the damages. I have contacted the bank that issues them to find out when/if the card went our on their end. It is possible the envelope was discarded mistakenly as junk mail. They are typically sent in a nondescript envelop, as to avoid tampering. I will follow up with you via phone to let you know either way.

I am sorry for the confusion and hope that we are able to get things cleared up for you. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me via the information noted below. Thank you and have a wonderful day!

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. If indeed what they state happens this time as it word for word verbatum to their last responce.

Regards,

Salesman knocked on our door asking if we'd like a free estimate on replacement windows, of which we are in need. My husband said sure, and had to set up an appointment with a salesperson for the following evening. Thought it odd that the first salesman asked my husband to sign a form, which he did, negating the company from being put on the do not call list. I scolded my husband for signing and told him that, at the very least, if we don' t buy their windows, our phone number/address will probably be sold to thousands of businesses. The next evening, a saleslady arrived, and I immediately told her that we would not entertain any estimates from the company unless my husband's signature on their do not call list was rescinded and we received something in writing from the company to this effect. She then measured, and gave a TWO hour sales pitch. This was excruciating, but what was even worse was when she was demonstrating to us about the strength of the tempered glass which Power Home Remodeling Group uses. Her pitch was that the tempered glass was so strong in Power brand windows that it would withstand being hit over a nail that had been driven into a wood board and still not break. She proceeded to hammer a nail into a piece of wood on my baby blue carpeted living room floor, take a regular size window with their tempered glass, and smash it over the nail head. Imagine our faces when the glass shattered and sprayed thousands of pieces of glass across the room, throughout the hall, and even down the stairs into our family room. We swept, we vacuumed, we moved furniture, and we picked up pieces by hand for what seemed like forever. The saleslady cut her hand while picking up pieces of glass, so I had to take her to my bathroom to clean and bandage her wound. We told her to forget the rest of the presentation and just leave the estimate, as we were exhausted by the presentation and the cleaning and could tell she was flustered to the point of almost crying. She said she was not supposed to leave before figuring up the estimate but went to the porch to call the company for permission to return the estimate to us at a later date. The company said no, that she needed to figure her numbers and leave the estimate with us before leaving. This took another, very uncomfortable, 20 minutes. The estimate was for $17,000.00 (15 double hung Windows & 1 picture window). We will not be purchasing windows from Power Home Remodeling Group, but I thought I'd wait a week before reviewing this company to see if anyone from the company bothered to call and apologize or offer us any kind of remuneration or further discount, or even follow up on the sales pitch and estimate that was given, AND THEIR HAS BEEN NOTHING. And then there's the matter of the do not call list...

I had a estimate from power home remodeling group for a new roof for my house. They showed up at 8pm and finished at 9:30pm which was fine. At the end when they gave a price for a new roof it was $460 per month for 72 months. I told the man that I would like to think about it. He told me that I could not,the price was only good for right then. If I waited till the next day I would not get that price and the new price would be $1200 per month. I asked him why not the same price and he said it would cost the company to much money if he had to come back to my house at a later date. So they were going to charge a new potential customer an additional $53,000 because they did not want to send there salesman back out to my house so I could have an extra day to think about it. I think that is an abusive use of high pressure sales. If this is how they treat a new customer I wound not trust them to do anything on my my house only a fool would. By the way I was told at the beginning of the estimate that it was good for a year. I guess they lied to me by omission when they did not tell me about the $53,000 surcharge for waiting 12 hours. When they start out lying they should not be trusted
