Power Home Remodeling Group Reviews (609)

We had this company out with no interest in doing our windows anytime soon. However, once we met with the consultant and he laid out the info for about the company and the quality of the windows we were sold. They told us it would only take one day to install 15 windows but we figured there is no way! One day is all it took. The installers were amazing, and power is always checking on the project and on us. My wife is super happy with the windows which makes me super happy!

This is my third project with power and I've been so impressed. What's most impressive about is the customer service they gave me. They have someone follow up through every step of the way. 5stars across the board!

I am very pleased with Power Remodeling after a total exterior remodeling of our home. As the second owners of an original design, we have had to do a lot of maintenance on our home of 17 years. We have never before experienced such a consistently high level of detail or professionalism from any other vendor or contractor. Anytime there was an issue, the Power Remodeling team was quick to resolve and check with us to make sure we were completely satisfied. I highly recommend this company. Excellent work! Excellent People! Excellent Experience!

Review: I had the misfortune of answering my door when a rep from Power knocked. I agreed to have them give me an estimate on a Saturday. They called to confirm the day before and said they would be there. 20 minutes after their arrival time, I get a call saying they won't be able to make it. I altered my plans for the day to work around them to show up, and they call after the time they are suppose to show to cancel. I then told them I do not want to reschedule and do not want to deal with them. This was approximately 3 months ago. I have received several phone calls from ###-###-####, the local number for Power, including hangups after I answer. I have told them several times to quit calling me, yet they continue to call me. The past few calls have been from someone named [redacted], but they were different voices. I find it weird that "[redacted]" said he couldn't take my name off the list because he didn't know my name. Yet, when I answered the phone, he called me by my full name. Does this company train their employees to lie and to adhere to unethical business practices? Why would he not give me to a supervisor when I asked?

Them continually to call me after repeated times of telling them to stop is making me feel harassed. If I receive another call from this company, I will seek any legal advice and pursue any means available to me to get them to stop harassing me.

I sincerely hope others read this and the other complaints against this company and choose wisely when they come a knockin' on their door.Desired Settlement: A written apology and a promise to quit calling me.

Review: MY wife and I have recently used Power Home Remodeling Group for a siding project, which was a 4 day project. Before I start let me say, my wife and I were satisfied with the outside of my home. However, we were told that there may be occasional "nail pops" in the sheet rock, but the company would work with me to resolve the problem if it should ever occur because their reputation and customer satisfaction was very important to them and in the past, the company has helped customers resolve what ever problem occur onsites, this was reiterated during the presentation. But, after Day 1, We had 25 severe "nail pops" protruding through the sheet rock with noticeable cracking in the Master Bedroom, In the Master Bathroom, there are 8 "nail pops". In the two guest bedrooms, there are a total of 16 severe "nail pops". On Day 2, the project manager and foreman were shown the problem. The project manager, [redacted], stated that we signed a contract and nothing could be done that it was on us, and we should take a hammer and knock back in the nails ,and he took pictures and told my wife that it was for an incident report he has to fill out with the company. So much for working with the customer!!!!!! he became quite upset when we called his supervisor, and other members inside the sales department who, kept referring us back to him. The project manager was not willing to work with us to fix the problem and instructed the foreman not to provide us this service, he even told my wife that they could not fix it because the day crew had already left, yet still we had the same 4 crew members everyday, from 9AM till 6pm, no changes. We were informed that on the 3rd day, they would be done early, my wife asked then why can't you get the crew to fix the protusions, he simply walked away. So now we are stuck with all these unsightly cracks in our walls.Desired Settlement: I would like Power Home Remodeling Group to remove the nail pops, screw in the nails, patch the holes and paint over the patched holes.

Review: This company states there is a72 hour cancelation for service and after that period has passed you are stuck with work being completed on your house. My husband and I canceled services with in a 24 hour period. The company said that it was okay and they would send someone out, before the person arrived the company pulled the credit of mine and my husband and established a loan in our name with [redacted] bank for 19300.00. I called and spoke to the financial department. They informed me that we need to write letters that we would like the credit pull reversed and they would handle having the pull removed from our credit. This request was sent to them on March 31, 2014. My husband and I have been calling with no response from the finance company. The customer service department also gives us the run around when we call before allowing me or my husband to be transferred to the finance department. I have put in a call again today where I received a voicemail for a [redacted] in finance. We do not wish to do business with this company, I do not wish to have a loan out with this company I am not going to use them for any services now or in the near future my husband and I have made this clear to this company. The sales person they sent to the house to confirm the cancelation insulated both me and my husband by telling his they pulled the credit any way and we were awarded more than they thought we would get and that we should just get the windows done since the credit was already pulled and we got approved for a loan, he also keep lowering the price and stuck around 20 minutes after the paperwork was signed and my husband had told him we did not want any of their services. They also keep sending us paperwork to have construction done on our house. The man problem is the credit inquires reversal/removal that the company said they would take care of but have yet to do so.Desired Settlement: I would like the credit inquire reversed on both mine and my husband’s credit.

I would like the loan removed out of both mine and my husband’s name.

If there are any fees with the removal of the loan and reversal of credit pull I wish for them to cover all charges in full.

I would like a written apology form the company regarding the etiquette of their sales staff, customer service staff and their finance staff.

I would also like them to stop sending mail to my house about the approval of the loan and scheduling work, and to make sure no one comes to my house from their company soliciting business.

The top three are important to me the rest I can handle as they come along by ignoring them and the apology is not need but would be appreciated since it could not be handled in house and I had to contact the Revdex.com to make a complaint.

Review: We had our roof installed on 12/30/13 and since then we have had the contractor back twice for leaks. They assured us the second time that it was repaired. We are in the middle of winter storm PAX and our roof is leaking once again. Their office is closed but they advised messages were being monitored. I have left two messages and have yet to receive a phone call back. In addition, our house is now freezing cold, we have asked several different peolple within the company if we should have had a ridge-vent type roof installed in a house with a finished attic and they have yet to respond to this inquiry. We are spending more money now to heat our house and have had to spend money for additional attic insulation. They did not make us aware of any of this prior to installation. We are very dissatisfied with this company and the product they have installed on our house.Desired Settlement: I want the ridge vent removed and a regular style roof put back on my house. We paid $10,000 plus for this roof and I am very dissatisfied with all of it. I could have paid another contractor $2,000 for a regular roof but they assured us this roof was the way to go.

Review: In august of this year I purchased a roof from PRG. At the time of purchase I spoke to the agent about ice damming an he told me that the protective tile applied to their product would not allow it to occur. He also provided me with a printout where this issue was stated as being part of the warranty. I have this printout. The roof failed and caused major damage to my kitchen ceiling and upstairs bedroom.PRG sent an inspector to the house and said the problem was caused by an ice dam. When he turned this report in they blamed the trouble on siding that was put in 20 yrs.ago. When I spoke to the company he said it was a very cold winter nothing of which was mentioned in the warranty.I have lived here for 35 yrs. and never had any trouble an as said the siding has been in place for 20yrs.I would really appreciate your help in this matter as they are stonewalling me.Desired Settlement: Would like them to take responsibility for the damage and pay for repairs. Roof comes with 50 yr warranty and is 6 mos.old

Review: I scheduled an appointment with Power for an estimate on a home improvement project for my home. They came and gave me an estimate for Windows, Doors, Attic, and a garage door and I decided to choose them to do the job. The first job that was completed was my attic installation. The guys from Power did a terrible job and did not complete the steps that was detailed in the pamphlet or told to us by the sales representative. I called Power the day after the attic was completed and told them I would like to cancel the remaining part of the job. They told me that they will send out a cancellation guy with papers for us to sign to cancel. They scheduled a person to come out about a week later who told us it was too late for us to cancel the job. I explained to the [redacted] and his boss that they lady on the phone told us that it was ok for cancel but [redacted] insisted that it was too late to cancel and I was miss informed. He went on to say that if I don't go through with the installation, Power will just leave the windows and doors on my lawn. I feel like I am forced to do an installation. Power is misleading company that does not deliver what they say they will. They are also taking advantage of me as a consumer.Desired Settlement: I would like to cancel the remaining portion of the job.

Review: This company goes door to door in neighborhoods with no identification or solicitor badge. They then proceed to call you each and every day - either hanging up when you answer or offering a recorded message. When going through the automated options, you will finally get to an openly hostile representative who refuses to remove you from their call list - even once you have informed them of being on the Do Not Call list. This is harassment!Desired Settlement: A letter apologizing for their exceptionally poor business practices of harassing people. Also stating that they have completely removed me from any and all contact databases.

I was very happy high the contract I agreed on with power . They are very forthcoming and informative with each person who came in contact with me. I couldn't be happier with the outcome of the contract!

We had all of our windows replaced and power home remodeling group did a fantastic job! Very efficient throughout the entire process!!

Very happy. They were quick to get the work done and very informative on the sales end of things. It took a while to get through the "Demo", but the information was helpful and needed. All promises were delivered upon. I would recommend to others.

Review: I called Power Home Remodeling Group to get a quote to replace 1 window only. The sales representative on the phone sent a person to our house and said that person would quote on my window and will do a courtesy quote on other windows. The sales representative that came to our house tried to upsell. He spent two hours telling us all about his product, gave us a quote for 10 windows, and I said I only wanted a quote on 1 window. He then gave me a quote for 5 windows. I again said I only wanted a quote for 1 window.

He then said he could not quote on 1 window because his company had a minimum of 4 windows to quote on.

This was a complete waste of my time and my wife's time (the company said my wife had to be present too). They tried the high pressure, "buy now, today only and get a $1,000 discount". This whole presentation was exactly like a high pressure time share presentation. They should have honestly told me, from my initial call, that they do not quote on 1 window. I got their name from [redacted] BestPicks Reports. They too appear to be a fake, unreliable independent rating firm.Desired Settlement: Stop wasting consumers time. Be honest up front and say you do not quote on 1 window and DO NOT send a sales rep out to up-sell more windows if a consumer, says up front, they only want 1 window quoted on.

[redacted],

I would

like to apologize for the inconvenience we caused you. I understand how difficult it is to organize

your busy schedule to be available for an estimate on a home improvement project. Because our windows are custom made for each

home, we require a minimum number of windows per project. Among the things that we require to provide an

estimate are that all the homeowners, decision makers, and involved parties are

present to get the information. It is

not to force a sale, like the case may seem.

We do that to put ourselves in the best position to earn your future

business by ensuring that we’ve done everything in our power to educate you on

the industry, the products, our company, and the investment that is

involved. Without speaking to everyone,

we have no opportunity to do that and only invite the chance of

miscommunication or the need to visit each home multiple times. We’ve found that our customers, and potential

customers, are happiest in the end when they’ve received all the information

they need before getting involved with a home improvement.

Again, I

apologize for your experience and ensure you will not be contacted by anyone in

our company. Please contact me via the

information noted below if I can be of assistance.

Regards,

Director of Warranty Service

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because the company did not address the major issue as noted below in my addendum dated 5/1/2014:

Regards,

Addendum dated 5/1/2014 by [redacted], homeowner to Power Home Remodeling Group

You did not respond to the major issue. Let me be more clear and blunt. I specifically said on my initial call I wanted to replace 1 window. I was never told, up front, that there was a minimum of 4 windows required to receive a quote. If your phone operators would have been honest, up front, this would have been a 30 second call and no time wasted. Instead, with full knowledge I only was interested in 1 window, the phone operator proceeded to schedule an appointment. When the person showed up at my door, I again said I was only interested in replacing 1 window. Half way through the two hour meeting, the salesperson said there was a minimum and not until after the two hour meeting he told me the minimum to quote was for 4 windows.

Review: I bought windows from this company under the false pretenses. The saleman told me the windows were made especially for Power Windows and the windows were guaranteed for life. One of my windowa broke from the extreme cold this year; when I called Power windows and Siding, I was told that the window manufacturer is now defunct out of business.I bought the windows from Power windows not a manufacturer. Power Windows should honor their guarantee regardless of who made the window.Desired Settlement: I want Power Windows to honor their guarantee and fix my window.

Loving my bow window! They finished the installation in about three hours, the cleaned up, and everything works beautifully. It's my first time hiring a contractor so I'm not the best to compare my experience, but it was fantastic all the way through!

Review: Comments for Power Home Remodel

The bottom line up front: The window and door install by Power has been a horrible experience and I will not recommend them to anyone that I know. The level of quality and workmanship constantly emphasized by the salesman was not present during my installation.

I have numerous complaints but probably the most egregious is that the installers are just contractors; they are NOT Power employees only, as stated by the salespeople. I can prove this.

My brother had windows installed and spoke highly of the workmanship. They gave him a tutorial on how a window is taken out and the new one put in, each window being done one at a time in case it started to rain or something. Upon completion of the work the installer took my brother around to each window and had him inspect them to make sure he was satisfied. An “independent inspector” then showed up to again see if my brother was satisfied.

Because of my brothers experience I chose to use Power for windows and a front door install (after sitting through the 3 hour sales speech). My experience was very different from my brothers. Here is a list of issues/complaints:

• After “hello” the first words spoken to me by the installer were “we have a small problem, the front door was measured wrong so they will have to order a new door and come back.”

• I found this unacceptable and told the installer manager (the installers boss) that I wanted to cancel the door; he said they could do that.

• After talking on the phone the installer manager said that they in fact could not cancel the door.

• We had a longish discussion about why not and I was told things like: the financing is already in place, the door is custom, we donate doors to the Salvation Army (including all the hardware, which is a bold faced lie), etc.

• At this point it is raining hard and some of the windows are in place but not capped from the outside so the interior wood around the window is getting wet (recall that the crew for my brother did one window at a time to avoid this).

• I point this out to the installer manager and he rolls his eyes and states that they would never cap the windows over wet wood. I ask how they will dry the wood (remember it’s raining) and says that they will use a rag.

• At this point I leave the conversation and have my wife take over because I am clearly talking with a totally incompetent person.

• The installer manager offers to call off the install and wait for good weather—remember that my windows are only half in and the wood around them is exposed on the outside around the window. I have them press on in the rain, much to the crew’s annoyance.

• The installer manager tells my wife that the water will “vaporize” after a while anyway.

• The installer manager leaves and all if quiet for a while.

• The crew then knocks on the door and says goodbye, they are done.

• Recall that with my brother there was a final walk through for customer satisfaction.

• The following day I finally get a Regional VP on the phone and list these complaints (see above).

• He is polite but unwilling to cancel the door install.

• I describe the difference in installation procedures between my crew and my brother’s and he thanks me for the feedback. That’s it.

• IF THE INSTALL CREWS ARE ALL POWER EMPLOYEES, AND NOT CONTRACTORS, THEN THERE SHOULD BE A STANDARD INSTALL AND CHECK OUT PROCEDURE, CLEARLY THERE IS NOT. FOR EXAMPLE, THE SALES TEAM ALL GIVE THE SAME SPIEL AND USE THE SAME WINDOW DEMONSTATION, ETC. THE INSTALL CREWS SHOULD HAVE THE SAME SET OF PROCEDURES AND IT SHOULD BE CONSISTENT FROM ONE CREW TO THE NEXT IF THEY ARE ALL EMPLOYEED BY POWER AND ONLY POWER.

• This saga of mediocrity is not yet complete; remember that the door still needs to be installed because they won’t let me cancel it.

• On my call with the VP I request that the same crew that did my brothers install do the door install. He says no problem.

• The crew comes to install the door; it’s not the same crew that did my brother’s install.

• I let them proceed, at this point the level of incompetence of Power is shocking and I’m tired of dealing with it.

• As a final insult the door hardware is nowhere to be found and the installer uses the old doorknob so at least the door is functional.

• The door that we order was supposed to be mahogany in color; this door looks more reddish-purple to me than mahogany. I’m positive that I will get nowhere with this complaint.

• At the time of writing these comments the doorknob is not yet installed. The installer says he will be back on the weekend (his day off) to finish the job.

• We’ll see…Desired Settlement: I desire a refund for the door because it was: (1) late, (2) the wrong color, and (3) not installed with the proper hardware (doorknob)

My husband and I allowed a representative from the company to come to our house and talk to us about replacing windows in our house. He gave us quote for the whole house that we could not afford. He then suggested for us to replace the windows with more damage. After going back and forth with offers, we agreed that could afford nine windows for $4,000 something. The work was done and they sent somebody else to "inspect" the work done. Of course, they were trying to sell us more windows. During the pitch, we found out that the nine windows did not cost us $4,000 but $8,627.27. We were both surprised. When we looked at the contract, sure enough, we signed for that amount and did not read carefully. Also, after about two hours of sales pitch, the representative did not pause and made sure to mention the amount. We understand that it was stupid of us, but still, I fill like we were tricked. The representative did not verified the amount prior to our signatures. Warning with these representatives and what you sign. We are now paying double and more in dept.

Harassing..that is the best word I can describe these people. After accepting a "free" estimate for windows, we let the sales guy know it wasn't in our budget to replace the windows at the time of their visit. The quote was good for one year which we told them we would think about it. After several calls asking to reschedule with the manager who was in our neighborhood, I told them we couldn't do it at this time. I received a very rude response from the caller and he basically hung up on me. since then, my husband and I have received a call from them EVERY day, even though I have asked to be removed from their call list..
I wouldn't buy anything from these people ever now. The constant calls has placed them on my blocked call list. They tout their Revdex.com rating and Angie's list rating, however that should be adjusted to reflect the constant badgering and relentless annoying calls you receive even after you tell them NO!

Review: So many issues that I could have checked many of the items. Misrepresentation of time frames and work, less than one day job has resulted in four plus.... lost wages not counting today total at 1175.00. Destruction of personal property. The area that they were not supposed to go on, they staged all their equipment on which is a shrub and perennial garden with 25 years of planted gifts from my children and mother. They put their equipment on it and trampled it all day. When I spoke to them multiple times they disregarded me. Then when I yelled as they started dropping stuff on my Pea G hydrangea asking them to please stop already...the worked YELLED at me.Rudeness. The man is on my property now and I am not comfortable at all. Safety issues, osha violations leaving unsecured ladder and material on roof on a house with children and pets. All documented on photos. They opened roof and left us untarped etc, Friday night when it was below 20 degrees with children in house. Oil and furnace ran all night. their equipment however was tarped. We requested that we be provided the building permit. we had to after four days go to the town for the permit.

we would like -

the plywood we had asked to be replaced replaced. period. its warped its bulging etc. they have just "nailed it down" I have a child with health issues and asthma and it was black. I wanted it off. I was entitled to 10 sheets of plywood by contract and more by verbal with PM.

we would like our oil tank refilled as we had just FILLED to FULL with Price Right Oil in Waterbury. We would like it tapped off back to full. (either by price right or abc fuel)

we would like to be compensated for lost wages either by $ or the amount off the roof charge.

This is money before the holidays hat no family should loose at the hands of a home improvement company. The property damage, loss of wages, oil and shotty work, coupled with teh safety issues and rudeness need rectifying immediately.

( missed appointments, delay of work, multiple days for completion)Desired Settlement: Property damage accounted for.

oil loss, replenished asap.

lost wages accounted for

plywood replaced

job finished

and an apology for yelling at a concerned customer.

insure the safety of my children through the work completed.
