January 2017 I called Craig Monroe of Monroe's Exterior Services (huge mistake) for estimate to remove large oak in front of house. He had done 2 smaller jobs for us in the past. Came out, gave me estimate of $3000.00 to remove tree and debris. Said he needed to obtain additional ropes and pulleys etc. for such a large tree. Gave him a deposit of $500.00 to do so. (another mistake). He was supposed to email proposal that evening for me to sign. Never received it. Called him several times to ask what happened. Checked out reviews online the next day - not good - called that night to cancel job and return deposit. No answer from Craig. We went back and forth through emails and texts for 4 months with him promising to return my $500.00. Last time I heard from him was a text April 4 only because I called him a thief. After numerous promises to pay back the deposit - nothing - he is not only a thief but a liar. Do not do business with him - good talker but it is all for show. Please do not pay him before ALL work is done. It is now September 3, 2017.
Review: On Wednesday, June 15, Monroe Exterior Services was trimming a neighbor's trees. My wife had Mr. Monroe come over and trim a few limbs. He informed my wife that the tree had termites, so my wife agreed for $450 to have the tree cut down. There was an additional tree next to the original and Mr. Monroe said for an additional $100 ($550 total) he would cut down both trees and remove the stumps.
After removing the trees, Mr. Monroe said he needed to go get his stump grinder and would be back. He returned later in the evening stating that the grinder needed to be sharpened and he would return in the Morning (Thursday 6/16) to complete the job. After two calls from me and two from my wife, Mr. Monroe never returned to complete the job.
Interestingly enough, Mr. Monroe looked at some trees behind our house and said for $800 he would trim those trees. My wife said no, I don't think we need that now but will think about it. At the same time he came back to our house to inform my wife that the tree stump grinder was not available, he asked if she would like the work done when he returned to take out the stumps. He said that he could now do it for $600 and she could post-date the check to have the work done.
Simply stated, I would like for Mr. Monroe to do the right thing and return to our house to remove the stumps.Desired Settlement: I would like Mr. Monroe to complete the job as promised by removing two small tree stumps in my front yard. The trees were cut down but stumps not removed per verbal agreement. I have contacted him twice and my wife has contacted him twice as well with no response.

Good afternoon:
So unprofessional and sloppy! Not to mention im pretty sure Craig was [redacted] on something
Review: On May 24th [redacted] wrote a proposal to remove two trees for $1500.00 and for an additional $300.00 [redacted] would trim the line of maple trees along the backside of my lot. [redacted] received at that time a check for $1800.00. On May 24th and May 25th [redacted] removed the two trees as per our agreement and promised to return the day after the Memorial Day holiday to perform the trim work. [redacted] extended his hand and shook on it as is a customary gesture of agreement. On May 27th [redacted] returned to the property next door to mine and performed the trimming of the trees throughout their property. [redacted] called out to me from the neighbor’s lot and stated that he had not forgotten the unfinished work. As I approached [redacted] explained that it would not be until May 29th because he had his daughter on May 28th. Once again [redacted] extended his hand and shook on it. May 29th came and went without services rendered. On May 30th as I returned home from work I happen to catch [redacted] collecting from my neighbor for the trim work performed on their property. Again [redacted] promised to return the following day (May 31st) and extended his hand and shook it. May 31st came and went without services rendered. I have neither heard nor seen him since. I obviously can no longer trust that [redacted] will return to complete the work promised so before I take further actions, I respectfully request that [redacted] return the remaining $300.00 received on May 24thDesired Settlement: I obviously can no longer trust that [redacted] will return to complete the work promised so before I take further actions, I respectfully request that [redacted] return the remaining $300.00 received on May 24th.

Regards,
Review: [redacted] was paid to complete a job and never finished the job. He was hired in January and said the job would be done before my husband left for deployment. He never came back. He asked if he could finish the job after the blizzard. I agreed, and now he will not respond to or return messages and phone calls. I would like the job completed or the money refunded. I e gotten quotes from other companies and it will cost approx 700$ to grind the stumps that he has yet to do. So I would like the money back if he is not going to complete the job.Desired Settlement: Finish grinding the 6 stumps or refund the money so I can pay a reliable company to complete the job.

Review: 6 weeks ago Moroe's Owner was going door to door for business. I had him remove a silver maple , stump, and roots for $700. He removed the tree that day and and said he would be back in two days for the stump. He called the day he was supposed to remove the stump and said he was overloaded with work adn would be back in a few days to grind the stump. A week later he showed to remove the stump but left the wood shavings and roots. He said he would be back to get it in a few days because his truck was full and he needed [redacted] to mark the lines. He asked if he could get paid and I paid him (my fault). I called a week later to let him know the lines were marked adn he could come finish. I didn't get an answer and left a message. I called threeadditional times and left messages for him but he never has returned my calls or finished the job.Desired Settlement: I would like a portion of the money I paid refunded or the service that was promised to be completed.

At this time, I have been contacted by Monroe Exterior Services regarding complaint ID [redacted]. They have made several promises to follow through however after 3 weeks no action has been taken. They acknowledged receipt of the complaint and acknowledged failure to complete the job, but have yet to remedy the situation.

Review: I hired MES to remove two trees from my property and grind the stumps and remove the debris a month and a half ago. They have removed both trees and ground one stump over a 2 week period. I have sent numerous text messages and left just as many voicemail's requesting contact to schedule the finishing of the job. I have not received a phone call or contact from MES,Desired Settlement: To finish the job that was promised.
