I am extremely unhappy with the Jeld-Wen French door that was installed in my dining room last summer in Sacramento CA. I had 5 Jeld-Wen windows installed. The Southgate glass store in Carmichael representative walked the entire perimeter of my home - measuring all of the openings. The door was recommended because Jeld-Wen is supposed to stand by their products. The door was defective and leaked on the side and underneath. As a result the newly refinished hardwood floor in my dining room was damaged. The Jeld-Wen company sent their own service representatives to my home and they found that the frame was defective. They did a simple repair and as a result of the "repair" the door does not open at all and continues to leak into my home and onto the hardwood floor. My contractor has been in touch with Jeld-Wen. The best that the Jeld-Wen company is willing to do is replace the defective frame not the door and not the the cost of ripping it out and redoing the stucco and inside walls. I THINK THAT THEY SHOULD REFUND MY MONEY FOR A DEFECTIVE DOOR - THE ENTIRE COST OF THE DEFECTIVE PRODUCT SOLD TO ME. The entire door needs to be ripped out - including the frame, interior drywall, and exterior stucco around the door and the hardwood floor needs to be replaced. THE DOOR SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. Jeld-Wen claims the door is not water proof. WHO MAKES AN OUTDOOR DOOR THAT IS NOT WATER PROOF? WHO SELLS A DOOR THAT IS NOT WATER PROOF IN A SPACE THAT IS HIT BY THE RAIN? JELD-WEN. I WOULD NEVER PURCHASE A JELD-WEN PRODUCT AGAIN! I have to pay the cost of replacing a brand new door and repairing all of the damage to my home done by this Jeld-Wen product.
I order a ext door from the lake orion store in mi . This has been on of the worst experiences I have ever had . I purchased a jeld door thru home depot 10/03/2016 . The door warped with in first year so it was covered under warranty so we called they sent some on out to the house to look at it . They said the sidelights went bad and as for the door being warped that was the installer (which were hired thru home depot as well). So after he left we did not here anything from any body for over a week so we had to call the door installers and they informed us that they do not shim the door so it was not on them. Understandable. So then I have to call home depot and send pics of my door to them. So as soon as I send pics to home depot it was weird an hour later jeld wen called and said they were going to replace the door . So we made the warranty call in Nov 2017. They scheduled a guy to come replace the door in December . Then rescheduled to later in December then January then January again to finally get our new door and side lite. The Jeld wen installer shows up and tells us that the black door we choose is just going to keep warping because it get direct sunlight on it . Well why is Jeld wen making an ext door that can not with stand the sun light and or why is home depot selling this product that is not going to even last a year . So now the installer says to call jeld wen and see if they will let us change the color of the door because it is poorly made and can not handle sun. So we call they say yes we switch the color . The order is in and they call and say it will be installed on march 1. The installer comes out with a door and installed it but no sidelights. Well turns out they forgot to oder the new sides light to match the new door when they new they were messed up because there two installers told them about this . So they say we are putting a rush order on these. Just received a call from them say the side light will be installed in may. Let go back the door was messed up in November and May is acceptable to them
Stay away from this company. French doors with massive gaps at top and bottom due to poor design. 2+ months trying to get warranty work. Going to have to pull the doors out and return to Lowes.
I ordered almost 30 replacement wooden windows from this company through Home Hardware. 50% of them required warranty repair work. It was very time consuming to get through to service normally requiring multiple attempts. In the end, although they addressed most of the warranty work (they missed on and offered to still fix it but I was so fed up I gave up), my project cost was increased by thousands of dollars and delayed 6 months. Also, because of the number of defects in the original windows, I am now very nervous about the quality of what I purchased and the possible shorter life span of the windows. I sought financial compensation from them for the hard dollar costs that I incurred because of the problems with their product. They declined. I cannot recommend this company to any one. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.
They are horrible! I ordered custom French doors in Oct of 2017 were not installed until Jan 2018 and everything is WRONG! Door locks bored incorrect almost 3 inches different, screens cannot latch gap opening and slide off doors, wrong hinges sent, and primary doors sticks out uneven. I was told on same day as installation I had to file a warranty claim!?. While the installers were still here. Pictures and documentation needed to be submitted in order for them to correct their mistakes. After 1 month no action. Daily frustrating calls. Now they tell me it will be 1 to 2 months longer to Dr t someone out to look at my doors! Complete frustration and poor customer service. Buyer beware . 6 months for doors? But they had no problem taking my payment in full. Aweful!
I ordered some French doors through Lowes to be make by Jeld-Wen. The order was placed on Dec.4 2017. they were to be delivered on Jan,3 2018. the date was pushed to Jan.9th then Jan.15th then Jan,22nd then Jan,29th. Well today is the 29th and still no doors. The management of Lowes has contacted Jeld-Wen several time and each time it has been a different excuse. Several people I have contacted told me they had the same experience with this company.
I purchased four large picture windows, vinyl, 67 inches by 104 inches. I was ready to install they arrived at home depot took two home found scratches all over one with buff markings and small scratches on other one. Took them back to return and inspected the other two and sure enough scratches. So home depot ordered me four new ones which I should have switched manufacturers at this time but didn't. I tried to relay the message to inspect the next four. Two weeks later couple snow storms of snow into the house I got the next set. Two had scratches. I was in a bind and not sure what to do. I decided to take the good two windows. This was starting to get ridiculous and just wanted resolution. When I inspected the windows it was dark I was tired and hungry and there was bird poop on them. Even though it is not what I wanted all I wanted was clean glass but feeling like not an option with jeld wen. Home depot called and offered a fair discount so to have some closure I took it. I installed the windows and cleaned them and there was more scratches than what I originally saw. I called Jeld Wen to see if they could get a rep to look at them and give me a refund. Debra Scott the lady I spoke with was very rude, aggressive, manipulative and would not listen to what I had to say regardless. I feel I have been treated very poorly in this situation when I was trying to compromise. I will be taking off the other seven windows I have in my house made by Jeld wen and returning first checking if they leak water which they probably due since there manufacturing is clearly low end. They clearly don't have good customer service and don't care about there product. Last time I buy cheap poor quality windows.
Our contractor purchased a Jeld-Wen french door for our master bedroom in October 2016, and installed it soon afterwards. When the winter rains came in February/March 2017, the door leaked. My contractor is in Oregon and we live in Washington; when he returned in April 2017, he determined the leak was a defective glass panel in one door and had me contact Jeld-Wen. Several weeks later, a Jeld-wen technician came out and replaced the glass panel, but did not test the repair. Several months later (October, 2017 - the first rain after the initial repair), we discovered the panel still leaked. I contacted Jeld-Wen and was told the original claim had been closed. They opened a new claim and gave me a choice of either sending me a new glass panel or a new door - either of which I would have to install myself since the purchase date of the door was over 1 year prior. Given a "professional technician" replaced the panel the first time, and that repair failed, I opted for the replacement door. Jeld-wen told me to remove the hardware from the faulty door (hinges, deadbolt, door *** and plate), and that the new door would be notched in the exact places to re-install the hardware. It was DECEMBER 19, 2017 when my replacement door arrived. Once it did, we installed the hardware in the exact placements on the door. The door does not hang square to the frame. The door *** does not latch. My "customer service" representative from Jeld Wen requested pictures of the door, frame, hardware, which I immediately sent. She said it would cost $85 for a tech to come out inspect the door. I asked if that inspection included fixing the problem. When I did not receive a reply back from her, I requested her manager contact information. I was again told I can have a technician come out at MY EXPENSE to inspect the problem, or they can send me a replacement panel or replacement door, but that The labor warranty is only one year and that labor will be chargeable if I want Jeld-wen to do the repair. When I said the Jeld-wen technician's faulty repair was done in April 2017, and that it has not been one year since that labor was completed (and pointed out that HAD the technician tested his repair, he would have known the repair was faulty), I was told that the warranty was one year from the purchase date. I have REPEATEDLY asked for a supervisor or manager. Those requests are ignored. This is the worst customer service I've experienced from a company. I suggest to any and all that you not only do NOT do business with Jeld-Wen, but that you tell everyone you KNOW to avoid doing business with Jeld-Wen.

Jeldwen sent a field tech out yesterday who (we believe) successfully repaired and adjusted the problem door and resolved the leak. How do I amend my review to reflect our satisfaction with the resolution of the issue?
thank you in advance
We purchased a Jeld- wen French Patio door in 2007, about, I have been trying to order a part to fix my door, the entire strip between the doors which I believe is the astragal need to be replaced, I was told to get the number off the glass and I did, then I was told to send pics of the damaged part, I did, the door is not under warranty anymore so they told me to locate my purchase papers for model number, I cant locate those. I have done everything they said to do. All I want is the part to fix my door, bugs come in, and it could easily be busted down by a intruder. They do not care. I call the 800 number and ask to be transfer to someone who knows doors, I was on hold 45 minutes. So I guess these are disposable doors, we paid a hefty price for this door, Anyone who carries this door in there store cant help me. Bad Company, Bad employees.
I just built a new home in Klamath Falls, headquarters location for Jeld Wen, and the Jeld Wen windows that we got through Parr Lumber are a disaster! Grids do not align in the windows and there are large gaps in the grids that make them look very cheap. The grid in a window on the front of the house actually fell apart inside the window and looks horrible so I left the Jeld Wen stickers up so people know not to buy them. We've waited TWO months for warranty repair and have heard nothing yet. Ironic thing is that we built in a neighborhood that the Wendt's developed, we are in the same city as their headquarters and we get this kind of a substandard product and warranty service by trying to support a local business. NEVER AGAIN!
I ordered a door from Home depot on Oct. 3rd the company that Home depot uses for doors is Jeld- Wen door systems. I have been told 11 times that my door would be delivered but No door. I contacted Jeld-Wen many times and they keep on telling me that the doors is on the next truck. On Dec.6 I contacted Jeld-wen they promised me that I would have my door on Dec 8th. Today I received an e-mail that the door would not be here until Dec.22 this is another lie. My door is already paid for on Oct. 3rd.
If you can avoid doing business with Jeld-Wen, you'll save yourself a lot of time. All I needed was a replacement lock for my slidding patio door. After numerous voice messages and online emails, Finally after a month, somebody replied to my emails. The emails then went back and forth with little assistance. They just gave me the run around, its now been over two months and I still can't lock my patio door. Their warranty doesn't seem to mean anything. So instead of delaying things any longer, I just ordered the part required and just oaid for it.
Purchased a door from zanesville Home Depot from jeld wen doors in Pataskala, Ohio. I was told I would recieve my 2400 dollar door every week. They told me That for 2 months. If it wasn’t this Wednesday. It’s be next Wednesday. No apologies. No communication. Just 300 off my door. That’s it. Building a house I. The process and had no door on it for 3 months.
Waited 3 month for a single door that they keeped putting off every week and then saying we agreed on the put off
We live in a village with 174 homes. When this Village was built Jeld Wen Windows received the contract to supple all the windows for this Village, it was built approximately 15 years ago The seals broke on most windows in the Village and were replaced by most homeowners, We had 10 windows replaced by Jeld Wen Windows in the last two years. Now one of these windows has developed a crack in it. I contacted Jeld Wen and they said the warranty was for only one year. The window in question did crack because of either , not made properly, not installed properly and we had people they recommend install the window, or by use of inferior glass not by any other way.
I tried to discuss the window with them but they refused to do anything.
And Jeld Wen does not have a web site that a person can go to and write a review.
I just got off the phone with Jeld-Wen Customer Service. I ordered two sets of double glass doors to use between my family room and patio. I recently noticed that the metal wheels on the bottom of the screen doors had rusted and rusted so badly that it ruined the vinyl frame. When I ordered these doors through Home Depot I was told they came with a lifetime warranty, which is the reason I ordered vinyl. Jeld-Wen customer service told me today that yes, the doors do come with a lifetime warranty, but not the screen doors. I was asked if I wanted to order two new doors, at my expense, to replace the rusted ones. I asked customer service why I should reward Jeld-Wen with additional business when the current products rusted to the point of not working. This is a direct quote from customer service, "so you want me to close the claim then?" I was stunned. All the rep wanted to do was get me off the phone and get the claim off her desk.
JELD-WEN door and door hardware warranty is sub standard and below what other in the industry offers. They are quick to point out things are not covered by warranty when you have issues.
Extremely disappointed in this company. I bought a new home. I have had several defective products installed by this company (windows and doors). At my 30 day inspection I asked to have this addressed and the builder managed to replace the doors and a few windows. I have been in my home for almost 4 years now and I had an inspector come in to look at my windows due to condensation issues. It turns out the window seal was broken and it is a common issue with this company. The inspector had mentioned to me that this is now a warranty issue and I still have my warranty (we reviewed my paper work) and that I have to contact Jeld-wen directly. He did laugh and said that many people in my neighbourhood had similar issues and that they have had no luck getting anything from them. After my experience and after reading the reviews, it is evident that this company has no shame and does not value good products and more importantly customer service.
Here is my experience:
When I called to request to have them honour the warranty, they initially told me that the person is in a meeting, will be in a meeting all day and will get back to me when they can. So I waited a week and I received no call. I called back and the person was extremely rude laughing at my name and pretending like they hung up on me by accident. I was getting frustrated with them and was in awe at this childish behaviour. The girl on the phone Lorrie D sounds and acted like a child - she would hang up on me and when I would call she would ask for my name just to provoke frustration...then she would say "i have call display and tell say my name and hang up". I had to escalate this to the manager Glenn D who would not acknowledge any issue and protect his own people wrong doing. Glenn promised that he would get back to me and here we are almost a full year past when I first called and they still have not done anything about my defective window and door. Most of the seals on my windows and my neighbours windows been defective. And yet a large organization is not interested in doing anything about it because its is evident they don't value customer service.
I escalated this to my builder Tamarack and had Jan R and Pierre B reach out to Glenn by email so that could at least have paper trail of this. I provided them with all the pictures they needed and I asked the builder why can't they use the pictures they took at my house and they said they don't have any on file? In any event I did everything I could do with the exception of taking legal action.
I warn all of you business and residential people that this will be a mistake - this company might show you good faith when they are ready to take your money however when it comes time to address all the deficiencies that may arise as a result of their product, their customer service department will not hold up. They are the most childish and horribly organized company I have ever experienced and want to share this with everyone who considers them.
They are the type to patronize and would comment to this remark by saying "awe we are sorry or your experience"
I don't know why organizations hire people who don't have the skill set to do the job. The customer service individual on the phone should be fired. Glenn should be accountable and fix this issue.
Very poor customer service. They transfer you around when you call. I tried to order replacement parts for a casement window. It took five days to get the quote. I kept getting the response "I have to wait for it to return from proofing, then I will send it." from Valerie B. Finally I ordered the parts but had to pay $60.00 for shipping on three parts that could have easily fit in a flat rate shipping box but they didn't. When they arrived they were the wrong side of the window. I called instantly and they said they would order the correct side and overnight them again. They didn't know if they could still make the shipping for that day however if not it would go out the next. Three days later and now they are telling me they didn't even ship yet. Since it's a Friday I probably wont get the parts until Monday now. This is a major problem as it's holding up a realestate closing. I called Valerie to again followup. She said that she isnt sure why it didnt go out and if the person, Champaign, who ordered it did the correct procedure to make sure it went out overnight on Wednesday. I reminded Valerie that after Champaign ordered it on Wednesday I also called Valerie to follow-up and look over the order that same day. Once again blame someone else but in the end I still dont have my parts I need to repair the three windows and close on the house.
I purchased Jeld-Wen doors from Home Depot in West Sacramento, California on 9/9/2013 for $1199.80. On 10/16/2013, the doors were delivered to my house by Home Depot. The doors were installed by a Home-Depot-sponsored contractor on 10/18/2013. On May 27, 2017, without any provoking incident, the glass on the right door (the one that generally remains immobile), began to shatter spontaneously. We contacted Home Depot in person immediately. We were informed that our door was still under warranty and referred directly to the Jeld-Wen company to make the appropriate repairs/replacements.
When we contacted the Jeld-Wen company, we were given the run around. First, they said that Home Depot failed to give them any information regarding our door. When we contacted Home Depot, who then confirmed that our information was indeed sent to Jeld-Wen, they then said they would have to get back to us. Repeated attempts to have them address this issue resulted in them informing us that our warranty only covered accidental and not spontaneous damage. Therefore, if I accidentally broke the glass with a hammer, then it would be covered. However, if it spontaneously shatters (which multiple reports of similar incidences shows is due to a flaw in production), it is not covered. When my husband tried to discuss this further, their manager hung up on him.
