Review: We canceled Huntington Learning Center([redacted] Va, in April 2014. Told '[redacted]' we were not happy with the service and wanted to cancel. She said it would be canceled in 10 business days. My granddaughter is physically and mentally handicapped, [redacted] informed us they had never had anyone like her before. [redacted] had a different tutor, out of 10 classes, every time. Every time the tutor had to take time out to figure out what she needed and how to work with her. Just reading and writing her name is unexceptable. This is the reason we wanted to cancel. After talking to [redacted] about getting another bill from the bank she gave me the[redacted] name '[redacted] told me to call her. I was able to leave 1 message on her phone(which she never called me back) after this her mailbox is full. Front desk in the [redacted] office, the guy now tells me [redacted] is in a meeting(she never calls me back)Desired Settlement: I want a complete refund now. Since they were not kind enough to call me back and recognize there was a problem.

Regards,
Our experience with them has been awful. I brought my child in for a math evaluation (said specifically I only wanted math and not reading), which they said they could do. But guess what? They did both math and reading, which meant the 2.5 hours of testing turned into 5 hours. They said they would provide snacks for her, but they didn't give her anything the entire time. Okay, no harm done. I can overlook this.
So we schedule our parent meeting to review the results. My husband and I both took time off of work and we hired a babysitter for the kids, and as we're walking out the door to go to the meeting they call to ask if we can reschedule. I say no as we've got the sitter and have taken time off of work to do this. The caller, [redacted], says he understands and will see us shortly. Two minutes later he calls to say they are rescheduling. Ummm... okay, but why ask me earlier if we could reschedule then? Being that I was unwilling to take more time off of work for this insanity, I asked that they mail me the results and they agreed to do that.
I wanted to share the results with school, but I still didn't have them so I called to ask if they would email them to me. The Center's director, [redacted], answers and starts yelling at me for scheduling our meeting for Monday morning. Apparently, she doesn't do meetings on Monday mornings and I guess I was magically supposed to know that. Clearly her staff was supposed to know that too, but they missed her non-existent memo about scheduling also. So after [redacted] berates me for ten minutes about why I scheduled the meeting for Monday morning and never once apologizes to me (remember me, the paying customer, the one that was canceled on at the last minute when the meeting was scheduled for a week prior??), and telling me that she would not provide me with the test results nor provide me a refund for the testing, I gave up. And did I mention she continued to reprimand me for scheduling an appointment at a time that wasn't convenient for her?
If 'management' treats the paying parents this way, I can only imagine how they're treating the kids and the tutors that work for them. Needless to say, we won't be going back. Save yourself the money and the trouble and go somewhere else.
I enrolled my daughter for a brief time at Huntington. She seemed to need more than I could afford to pay and I turned to my ex husband who said he would see. A few weeks later I found out that he enrolled her in twice a week sessions. I knew nothing else. Suddenly I am receiving threatening calls insisting that I pay the unpaid portion of the balance when I did not agree to continued tutoring, did not sign a contract. My ex "the doctor" refuses to pay the remaining balance. Huntington, Birmingham, Michigan representative was rude and hung up on me when I insisted that I am not responsible for a debt which he assumed and I did not sign any contract.
Review: Failure to receive refund from services cancelled. Services were hired and paid for in full 12 December 2012 at a total of 130 hours of tutoring for $5710.00. The service with this agency was cancelled at a meeting with myself and my wife after 78 hours of tutoring when the agency had failed to meet with the school to find out the true problem my child had. I was told at the 50 hour meeting that my child's school would be contacted and should have been at the 20 hour mark of service. The remaining 52 hours of service were cancelled and was told that I would recieve my refund in 8 - 10 weeks at 11 weeks I called the location and was told they would contact me it is now week 12 and I have neither hr=erd from or received any money or correspondence from this company.Desired Settlement: Refund form my remaining 52 hours paid in full to me.

At this time, I finally made contact with [redacted] of the [redacted] at [redacted] the owning company of the Chester Huntington Learning Center regarding complaint ID [redacted]. After multiple conversations and unkept promises I finally received my refund on 28 June 2013 so it took me over four months to finally get my refund from this company. This is not a customer oriented company and only cares about getting your money and keeping it any way they can.
Regards,
Review: We came to Huntington Learning Center for [redacted] Prep for my son. We were given recommendations by the staff on how many hours they felt he would need in order to achieve a certain score. And this being our first encounter we took their advice. He did not end up needing all of the hours that the staff originally suggested but they had already been paid for. I have attempted to contact them on numerous occasions, since March, by phone and have visited in person to resolve the issue. My original request was to have tutoring hours transferred to another a sibling. After leaving several messages for the center owner with absolutely no response I requested with the center director a refund for unused tutoring hours. I have been told everything needs to be approved by the Huntington Center owner. Unfortunately I have been unable to contact her and have been attempting since the beginning of June.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for unused tutoring hours.
Review: Huntington Learning Center of Stafford VA has overcharged me for services. And have charged me about $2,000.00-$2,500.00 or more for services not rendered in accoradance to our agreement. The loan for these services was through Comenity Capital Bank. I have attempted to call more than 25 times; I've left countless messages; and have not returned a call back in the 2-3 months since I've begun this inquiry. I'm merely seeking for a refund.Desired Settlement: I promptly want Huntington Learning Center of Stafford VA to refund me the $2,000.00-$2,500.00+ for services not rendered.
Review: We went to this company to better my daughters SAT scores. We were told that her completing the program that it would increase her SAT scores 300 points. It did nothing but go down. She has taken the SAT test 2 times since entering this program and 2 practice tests and it did nothing but bring down her scores. This is a terrible company. That is all they do is take your money and make open promises and never deliver on the result that was promised. Nobody should ever go to this company to help their children again.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund.
Review: Jan 26, 2015- we signed our daughter, [redacted] up for tutoring at Huntington Learning Center, Stafford VA paying $5791.80. At this time we informed the center’s director, [redacted] that we were a military family with a pending move overseas to Italy and there was a chance that we not finished the hours that we signed up for. Elizabeth told us that it wasn’t an issue. That after a refund is requested it takes 30 days to process and they will mail us a check. We also signed an agreement that stated, “If you request a refund for unused tuition that you paid at a discounted rate, this office will refund it”
May 28, 2015 was [redacted] last session, as we are active duty military and was relocated to Italy. At this time I requested our refund. Once again I was told it wasn’t an issue. I gave Elizabeth out address in Italy and she stated that after her accountant figured out the amount of our refund she would email us that amount anpd the check should be in the mail in 30 days.
I emailed the Center’s director at ask about the status of our refund. I was told that the regional direction told her that our refund amount was $1,339.14, but was unsure when the check would be mailed to us. Over the next 2 months I was told over and over again I will receive our refund. When I heard nothing from the center I asked to speak to the regional director. I called the Regional Director, [redacted], at [redacted] for several weeks with no response. I did eventually receive an email from [redacted] asking me for my phone number to talk bout my refund. I informed [redacted] that I do not have a stateside phone number as I live in Italy. I never heard from [redacted] again…. I have tried over the next several months to get our refund and have to been successful. The Center's director and deputy have answered our calls and have told us we will receive a refund but informed us that the only person to issue the refund is the regional director/owner.Desired Settlement: I simply want our refund of 1,339.14 mailed to us or credited back to credit card. We have all documentation with the dollar amount.

Regards,
Review: Huntington Learning Center, [redacted] closed its doors at some point in the last few months, without notifying me; thus, not fulfilling its contractual obligation with me. My son, is still enrolled with Huntington Learning Center, and has more than 100 hours of tutoring remaining (owed) (approximately $4,600 that I financed, and paid to Huntington Learning Center). Huntington Learning Center did not notify me that the location at [redacted] was closing, and or with information as to how my son would continue receiving tutoring services from Huntington Learning Center per our contract. I have paid Huntington Learning Center for a service it is has not provided, and at the location for which this service was to take place per our agreement. I find Huntington Learning Center's handling of this situation very unprofessional and unacceptable, along with the fact that through Huntington's actions in this matter, our contract has been breached. I’ve attempted to call the Huntington Learning Center's Headquarters on three different occasions, and have yet to receive a return call from Ms. Josephine, who I was told handles customer refunds.
I look forward to hearing from someone from Huntington Learning Center soon.Desired Settlement: Request that Huntington Learning Center refund the remaining balance (approximately $4,600) paid to it for owed tutoring services for my son, [redacted] I will contact the media and advise them of Huntington's practices so that other's may be spared this unfortunate experience, as well as seek a remedy to this situation through small claims court; in which case I will seek an amount for owed tutoring expenses, along with interest.
Business
Response:
[redacted] from the business called. They will be contacting the customer directly by phone to discuss this complaint.
This business consistently stands on the "put the students first" motto. However their actions tell a different story. Their "suggestions and recommendations" to parents center around just making most money. Also if parents expect a refund, it will either take over a year or may not happen at all. A child's education and future is certainly not put first.
I will never recommend this Huntington to anyone for any reason. Management's mind is only on money.
Review: I enrolled my son with Huntington Learning Center in [redacted]. In the contract if we did not complete the program our loan account would be credited for the unused amount. On June 24, 2013, I contacted Huntington and requested a credit on my loan account. As of writing this complaint my account has not been credited. [redacted] the [redacted] has provided many excuses as to why the credit has not been issued; although she stated in an e-mail on October 15, 2013 the loan account would be credited on October 31, 2013. After my monthly payment this month, I will have paid back on the loan more than what is owed. I have a long trail of e-mails between me and members of Huntington.Desired Settlement: I want the loan to be adjusted and if I pay more than what is owed I would like a refund check.
Review: Services provided by Huntington Learning Center were not what was explained in original "prescription". Communications were terrible- appointments were not tracked and the so-called school cooperation was nonexistent. We were told that there would be no contract, and when we decided to pull our children from the program, all communication stopped. For over two months my husband and I have been trying to get the balance of our deposit back and no one has even bothered to return our email or give us a phone call.Desired Settlement: We would ideally like to have all of our money refunded, as the program was not as it was sold to us. We know that most likely that won't happen, but we do want to have the unused balance of our deposit, which should be just over $1,000.
Review: Waiting for refund for more then 5 weeks form Huntington / Westwood/NJ. For unused SSAT prep lessons. Unexpectable delay of a refund 2446.20$. They were very kin to collect the money from me on time and had to be before the first lesson, yet when it comes to refund they are no were to be seen.I would not recommend this Learning Center !Desired Settlement: Refund of SSAT preparation lessons for my daughter. We have made a front up payment of 3078.20$ for 40x SSAT prep lessons. My daughter had 7x lessons after which we informed (Beginning September 2014) Huntington that we would discontinue the lessons since they were unable to find us suitable schedules, which would fit to our needs. I have requested and filled out all the paper that they have given to me for the refund 5 weeks ago. The refund amount is 2446.20$ ! Yet to date I have not received.
Review: I signed my child up for tutoring sessions. The staff was sub par and they double booked a session. After many phone calls to the main office and district manager I was promised a full refund.I am still waiting for the refund to arrive.Desired Settlement: full refund of all monies paid per district managers promise
Review: On 2/27/14, we signed our son up for 10 hours of math tutoring with the Huntington Learning Center (HLC), [redacted], VA. He didn't actually go to his first session until 3/8/14. The lesson was horrible, but we went a second week. The second lesson was just as bad - they were providing SAT prep, never tested him, and never provided the math tutoring we had paid for. So we told them that we were quitting and wanted a refund. I have email correspondences with HLC starting in April 2014, including one from the owner Donna I[redacted] (who on 6/2/14 told me she authorized a refund). The initial charge was made on 2/27/14 for $915.00. We never used the last 8 sessions and the owner agreed that the first two sessions were not what we paid for (we wanted tutoring and not SAT prep). The owner agreed to refund us - but will not send us a check, answer or return emails and phone calls. I repeat, the Owner agreed that there were breakdowns in communication between employees, etc., and that we would get a refund. I have not heard back from her or HLC since 6/2/14 despite leaving numerous voice messages, sending numerous emails, and visiting the center and leaving verbal messages with employees in person.Desired Settlement: A refund of the entire amount because they did not provide the service we purchased nor used the majority of the lessons that we had to pay for upfront.
Review: I have been due a refund from the center in the amount of $427.50 since September 2011 with no resolution. The refund has never been in dispute but no payment has been made by the center and no telephone calls or correspondence have been returned by the director or owner of the business. The promise of the refund was made in October 2011 and I am still trying to collect.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund sent out immediately.
Review: On March 31, 2014, Ms. Kathy S[redacted], owner Huntington Learning Center, [redacted] verbally agreed to refund a portion of the fees I paid for reading a math tutoring for my daughter. I requested a refund because the tutoring was not effective. Instead of her math and reading skills improving, her grades actually decreased. I paid Huntington $3,485, in advance, for 85 hours of tutoring at the rate of $41.00 per hour and used 27 hours. She should have refunded me $2378.00, however the rate increases to $49.00 so I should be refunded $2162.00. I should also mention that the fee is not for one on one tutoring, but 4 or 5 to one.
Kathy said it would take about 2-3 weeks for the refund. I called Kathy on or about April 24, 2014 and left a voice mail inquiring about the refund. To date, she has not returned my phone call.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of $2162.00 for the unused tutor hours.

I called the business today (8/15/2014) and she provided the correct/current mailing address. I re-mailed the complaint today.
Review: on or about august 14 2012 we hired huntington learning center of [redacted] Va to help [redacted] our daughter improve her SAT test scores. We prepaid for 40 hrs. For the first 20 hrs of instruction our daughter indicated that the instructor was knowledgeable. After the first 20 hrs huntington began to give her different instructors. The first 20 hrs she had an instructor that specialized in SAT prep. After that [redacted] was given instructor who were barely familiar with SAT prep or completely unfamiliar. The women who interpreted [redacted]'s first test told us [redacted] was very week in Fraction's. [redacted] had no instruction on fraction's. The sub instructor's were not qualified to help [redacted] improve her SAT scores. After a few instruction sessions with the sub instructors [redacted] became very frustrated. We encouraged her to continue and told her it would get better. She continued but the quality of instruction was inferior and inconsistent. I finally pulled her out and complained to the center. I requested a refund for 20 hrs. After a meeting with the center manager did not satisfy our complante we met with the center owner [redacted] and the district manager [redacted] I agrred to a reduced refund of 10 hrs 750.00. I was told if I took the reduced refund they would process the refund quickly. After about 4 months I began to call to see what happened to the refund. No one would return my calls. I call and ask to speek directly to the owner and am promised a retun call. It has been over a year since we meet. I have not received the promised refund nor will any one call me back.Desired Settlement: That huntington Learning Center refund the money it promised.
Review: We signed our daughter up for SAT prep. We were told That this would be roughly $1800.00. We signed up for tuition financing which is supposed to be zero % interest. My daughter attended classes from April until August. We called and told them that she was done in August....
When we started the classes the charged our account over $6000. and told us that once we complete the classes they would credit our account the unused portion and we would be left with only the balance owed. I went to the center on October 4th, spoke to the director [redacted] in person and asked why the credit was not processed. She said that her Director handles that and that she would send an email. I went into the center again on November 7 and spoke with [redacted]. she sent another email. I called the center today and spoke with [redacted] again, she sent another Email.
I have yet to receive a response from our many attempts to receive an itemized bill or a confirmation from the company that the credit has been applied. we continue to pay roughly $400 a month for this. When we don't owe them any more money.Desired Settlement: We would like an itemized statement along with a prompt refund to our account, plus a refund of any unused sessions
Review: In July 2013 I enrolled my son at Huntington for some tutoring classes over the summer which should have lasted for several months. This was to be financed through [redacted] ($7500) and the repayments should have started in September 2013. After only 2 weeks of classes (17 hours) I had to cancel the classes due to a sudden development in my personal circumstances. I immediately contacted Huntington informing them about this development and explaining why I had to stop the classes.
On August 7, 2013 I paid Huntington in full for all the tutoring classes that my son had received up to that point ($857.50 - also got a receipt), and Huntington agreed (in writing) to refund fully the loan taken on my behalf from [redacted]. After receiving numerous harassing phone calls from [redacted], and countless phone calls and emails from me to Huntington, they finally paid [redacted] in January this year. I thought this was the end of the matter until I discovered that Huntington only refunded $7000, which means that there is still $500.00 outstanding in my name.
I have tried contacting Huntington again but have had no response from them whatsoever since, in the meantime this debt is already affecting my once excellent credit record.Desired Settlement: Huntington to refund the balance $500 to [redacted], clearing my name of any debt owed. Huntington must honor their agreement of doing a full refund to [redacted] and that means $7500.
