Globe Life is very sorry that you have experienced a problem with your policy. We will investigate this matter and respond to you in writing within the next ten business days.

This company has refused, ignored, & disputed the actual existence of this policy in spite of several means to terminate it for the cash value.
I am the owner of the policy #XXXXXXXXX & the insured is *** my son. His policy number is XXXXXXXXX. The date of the issue was 10/01/79 with the premiums deducted from my salary with the *** A policy was also issued on my wife, #XXXXXXXX. We were eventually paid, but my son's policy value was not included in this pay out. We have written, called, & used the web site asking for this termination and subsequent cash value of the policy to date. Most recently my son and I respectfully & jointly sent a letter (11/21/18) requesting closure & deadline for the cash value by 12/06/18. There has been no contact whatsoever from them. I have copies of all the relevant data & correspondence to prove my legitimate claims having received the cash value of mine and my wife's policies with considerable efforts in May of last year. I suspect that they also have a policy for my Dad, now deceased, that they still maintain, as with my son, that the policies cannot be found. This behavior is an outrage and they deserve to be held accountable and fined. It is morally and ethically irresponsible!! We have behaved respectfully & responsibly and have there is no reason to be ignored or denied except for greed. Your help will be appreciated as documents are in order long with a schedule of our actions for the record. This atrocity has been in the works since April 13, 2017 when we were notified by the company about the face value of the said policies and they wanted to update the beneficiaries designation. How much additional proof does one need to be recognized and treated fairly. I am livid!

Desired Outcome

We want the cash value of my policy on my son, its termination and an accounting of my Dad's policy< *** whom is now deceased. There are no other options available unless I seek help from an attorney. It seems foolish from both our perspectives to take that course of action to settle a relatively meager amount of money.

Globe Life and Accident Insurance Company Response • Dec 20, 2018

On 11/20/17, Globe Life did receive a letter from *** requesting surrender of policy #XXXXXXXXX insuring his life. However, the policy wasn't surrendered at that time because the insured is not the policy owner. His father, *** is the policy owner and the only one with authority to surrender.

Another letter requesting surrender of policy #XXXXXXXXX was received on 11/28/18. Although this letter was signed by both the insured and the policy owner, it was not forwarded to our Living Benefits Unit for processing until the Revdex.com complaint was received. Please extend our sincerest apologies to both the policy owner and the insured for this inadvertent oversight and any inconvenience it has caused.

The policy was surrendered 12/18/18. A check (#XXXXXX) in the amount of $2,049.76, representing the full cash value of policy #XXXXXXXX, was issued to *** on that date. A copy of the check is enclosed. In an effort to resolve this matter, the check is being sent to Mr. *** via Federal Express today.

On 05/22/17, Globe Life responded to a complaint Mr. filed with the Revdex.com (#XXXXXXXX), explaining that there was no record of a surrender request being received from him prior to receipt of the complaint on 05/12/17. The policies were surrendered 05/23/17. The policy insuring *** wasn't surrendered at that time because that policy number wasn't referenced in the Revdex.com complaint.

As stated in the Company's 05/22/17 response to the Revdex.com, because the policies insuring Mr. his wife, and son were issued almost 40 years ago and have been paid-up for quite some time, there is little information about them in our computer records. If Mr. Hutchins was the owner of a policy insuring his father, please have him provide his father's name and the policy number and we will be happy to review our records further.

I trust this information is responsive to your inquiry. If you should have any questions, please contact me via email.

Customer Response • Dec 21, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The response to your action with Globe Life Insurance Co. is filled with half truths that I won't even address here at this juncture. I have a complete file of all communications that began on 4/13/17 with the notifications that the policies still existed and there was a request/need to update the beneficiary for each of the insured parties. Those parties included myself, my wife and son. I have included all of this relevant data at the onset of my complaint with you, Revdex.com, and the *** Insurance Dept. In other words I can back up or establish proof for every comment, complaint and the dates for which each transpired. I did receive a check today (12/21/18) from Globe Life #XXXXXX in the amount of $2049.76 dated on 12/18/18. I am pleased with some progress on this dilemma, but this amount does not concur with the amount noted in their beneficiary request on 4/13/17. The face value quoted was $4,291.00. This leaves a very big discrepancy in the amount of $2241.24. I am attaching a copy of that correspondence with this response. My records are available for all communications with this company. The discrepancies in Globe's defense for their rebuttal can be contradicted with my communications and will prove their behavior has been unethical, negligent, irresponsible and probably illegal. I expect to be paid for the complete value of my son's policy #XXXXXXXXX which is $4291.00. I am not being unreasonable or defiant. Please advise if there is a need for more information in order for you to continue regarding this complaint. I thank you immensely or your efforts to date. My father's policy is another matter and I *** file a formal complaint regarding it when the issues here have been resolved in a fair and reasonable conclusion.

Globe Life and Accident Insurance Company Response • Jan 04, 2019

Document Attached***
The $4,291.00 "face value" Mr. is referring to with regard to policy #XXXXXXXXX is the death benefit, which is payable upon the death of the insured if the policy is in force and incontestable at the time.

The death benefit is not the same as the cash surrender value, which is a "living" benefit available to the policy owner during the lifetime of the insured.

For your reference, I am enclosing the Schedule of Benefits page from policy #XXXXXXXXX, which indicates the Amount of Insurance is $4,091.00. The Table of Loan and Nonforfeiture values at the top of the page reflects the Cash Value at the end of each policy year, from the first year to the 20th. As you can see, the cash values are significantly lower than the policy's face amount.

It is Globe Life's position that the $2,049.76 cash surrender value paid on 12/18/18 is correct and no additional money is owed.

I trust this information is responsive to your inquiry. If you should have any questions, please contact me directly.

I have been paying on my kids since 1998 and now they won't even tell me how whole life works. No yearly statements of face value. They have hung up on me twice and are acting like a scam. So not go with this company unless you do not wnat whole life. There are cheaper companys with a better rep out there than these guys.

Globe Life and Accident Insurance Company Response • Dec 11, 2018

Dear Ms., Globe Life is very sorry that you have experienced a problem with our Customer Service Department concerning your life insurance policies. We *** investigate this matter and you *** receive a written response from us within the next ten business days.

My grandfather set up a basic life insurance policy for me when I was young. After college and starting my career, he passed the policy on to me to make payments on. Now that the policy was in my name, I began to get A LOT of paper mail from the company. Every couple of weeks I would get the same notice that I should increase my life insurance or add a dependent. That is excessive notices for a life insurance policy. The advertisements were confusing and made to look like a bill and I accidentally paid for extra insurance coverage unwittingly and didn't realize it until years later. The mail was just too much. I should really only get a bill once per year when my payment is due, not every couple of weeks. So I called the company and asked to not receive marketing materials. I was told I was placed on a do-not mail list, but the mail did not stop. I called again and was told it takes some time to get off of the mail distribution list. A few years went by and I continued to get regular mail regarding increasing my policy coverage. In this time, my grandfather passed away, and I continued to make my payments. I called again one day because the waste of paper and the guilt I felt for the environmental damage got to me, and asked to stop receiving junk mail. Finally, this time it worked and the bi-weekly mail stopped. Then later, as I went to review my life insurance coverage needs, I realized I had better coverage through my employer and the basic life insurance I had been paying on through Globe Life wasn't needed because I don't have any dependents. I decided to surrender my policy for the cash value. I initially called for advisement on how to surrender my policy. At first, I was told that if I paid for 2 more years (to reach 20 years of payments) then I would receive more money in the event of death. I asked to be mailed the details of my policy since they weren't available to me on-line (since the policy was so mature). I was told by the rep that she would have to request the policy details from headquarters because she didn't have access to the policy details herself. She said she would mail me a copy and follow-up. I waited a few weeks for that mail correspondence and she called back but I missed her call. When I returned the call, I spoke with a new rep who said paying for 2 additional years wouldn't benefit me. I asked her to send me an explanation of all my options. She did so and after I review my options, I decided to proceed with surrendering the policy for the cash value. I called Globe Life to do so. I was instructed to mail or email a letter stating that I wanted to do so and include my personal info, policy #, ss#, signature and date. I sent this via email. Weeks later, I received an email requesting a copy of my grandfather's death certificate in order to close out the life insurance policy. I had been making annual payments and the policy had been in my name, mailed to my address for 10 years! But I complied. I drove 30 miles to see my grandmother who is very elderly and just walking is a chore. I made a copy of the death certificate to send to Globe Life. Weeks went by and I continued to get notices in the mail from Globe Life regarding late payments on my policy. I had requested two months prior to cancel the policy so I decided to check in on the status of receiving a check in the mail for the cash value. I was told I needed to sign, date, and include my ss# again on a piece of paper (all of this had already been done and submitted 2 months prior). So I did that a few days ago and I am still waiting for my check in the mail...Globe Life certainly uses poor business practices through misleading advertisements that look like bills, they bombard you and the environment with junk mail, their customer service reps aren't well-trained in the operations of the life insurance company, and Globe Life sets up unnecessary obstacles to keep you from surrendering your policy and accessing your money. I will never do business with this company again.

We are very sorry that Ms. has experienced a problem with her Globe life policy. We are investigating the matter and we will respond to her in writing within the next ten business days.

Globe Life and Accident Insurance Company Response • Dec 11, 2018

According to our records, Ms. coverage was surrendered in full on December 7, 2018, and the surrender check was mailed to her address of record. The Company apologizes for the delay due to the Company requiring information regarding the previous Owner. However, given that Ms. was not the original Owner of the coverage insuring her life, the Company was legally obligated to verify the death of the previous Owner before surrendering the policy upon her request.

Ms. has been placed on our "Do Not Mail" list. The Company asks that she please allow 60-90 days for this change to take place, as other mailings may have already been processed. If Ms. should move, she will again need to notify the Company of her new address so that address can also be placed on the Company's "Do Not Mail" list.

Company states mother, *** life ins. Policy lapsed. She died 11/6/18. I have letter from Globe ins. That states policy is paid in full.
I have contacted Globe Life Insurance several times. Faxed all requested documents to 3 different departments, including customer service and legal dept. I called last week and they said they did not receive it when I have copies of fax completion verification it went through. I have tried calling this morning and left on hold for over 45 minutes. No one will get back to me. I am the beneficiary of the policy.

Desired Outcome

I want the life insurance payout in thr form of a check sent to me asap and for this to be cleared up. I want a phone call from a supervisor. Prior to my mothers death she also told me it was paid in full.

Globe Life and Accident Insurance Company Response • Dec 07, 2018

It is Globe Life's position that this matter has been resolved in favor of the complainant, ***. A copy of the Company's 11/30/18 letter to Ms. is attached.

Customer Response • Dec 11, 2018

I HAVE PAY ON IT CENT 8/26/11 AND I THINK I SHOULD GET SOME OF IT BACK IF THEY DO THIS TO PEOPLE THAT A WAY TO MAKE MONEY

Desired Outcome

Globe Life and Accident Insurance Company Response • Dec 07, 2018

Policy #***XXXXX, insuring the life of *** is a term life policy issued 08/26/11 in the amount of $20,000.00 and includes a $25,000.00 accidental death benefit rider also issued 08/26/11, two $5,000.00 term life riders issued in May 2012 and March 2015, and a $50,000.00 accidental death benefit rider issued effective 09/26/18. The total face amount of the policy is $30,000.00, not including the accidental death benefit riders. *** is the policy owner and beneficiary.

Mr. cancelled the policy November 12, 2018. According to the complaint, Mr. believes he should receive at least some of the money (premiums) back. It is Globe Life's position, however, that the premiums paid have been earned by the Company and no refund is due. When Globe Life accepts the premium, the risk is attached. Our obligation is to pay the face amount of the policy if the death occurs at any time during the premium paying period. The only time the premium is refunded is when it is specifically stated in the contract of insurance or if there is a statutory provision for the premium to be refunded. In this case, neither one of these apply.

I trust this information is responsive to your inquiry. If you should have any questions, please contact me via email.

Globe Life and Accident Insurance Company Response • Jan 08, 2019

Globe Life continues to maintain its position that the premiums paid for this policy have been earned by the Company and no refund is due. I regret we are unable to assist Mr. any further regarding this policy.

Great customer service, helpful, polite, detailed explanation

I called twice recently for customer service. Once was to ask about conversion plans for a Grow up Policy I have for our grandaughter. The second time was to inquire about an offer for life insurance for my husband and me. Both agents were professional, knowledgeable and friendly and answered all my questions thoroughly without pushing any other agenda. I am impressed with the company and believe it offers a great product.

Good rates for good coverage!

Never notified prior to Significant Rate increase.

Great customer service.

I lost my father suddenly in 2011, he was only 46 and I was 27 years old. Every since I had been terrified for my own children because I alone dealt with the debt of his passing and I struggled for years paying off estate/debt and so on. I am now 35 and debt free and decided it was time to get myself taken care of so my children would not have to suffer like I did and to be able to have extra money after all expenses are taken care of. The woman I spoke with was extremely helpful and definitely loved how she kept me in my budget - I'm extremely thrilled that she got my monthly budget to not only cover myself but my children too. Now I know I can sleep better at night! Thanks Globe Life for helping me make life easier for myself and children!

The agent was very helpful and knowledgeable. I am very satisfied with the policy I chose the prices are reasonable.

Customer service representative was helpful, courteous when I called in. No high pressure push or sales pitch. Thank you to Charlie and Cherie for their courtesy.
