trash pickup
Gfl wants your bill paid on time or else but when it come to them picking your trash up they are on their time.. The road that I live on was all gfl until this year. I hyavn't changed yet but there are only 3 left . Everyone else has bright blue cans and say that they have not had any misses yet.Maybe it is time to change. You would think that a company would take more pride in their work. @What can you do

Same here! I cancelled today! 3 weeks of missed pick up. this trash company is truly TRASH!

I used to have County Waste. GFL took them over and in a very shady move switched us without any written (printed) notifications. I would pay my bills quarterly even though they are not billed that way through CW. I would get a bill, see it getting low and send in $100 to carry me over to the next quarter. When I finally got my account set up, I paid in advance like I did with CW as the GFL rep said everything would be the same. Well after I paid, I got two notices with two separate account numbers saying my day would be changing. I called up and they said it was just one address and to not worry since the bill would be going up XYZ amount by July. I refused to pay double what I was paying with another company, so I canceled service. I should have received a credit back to my credit card of $92.89 since I didn't use any of the amount I paid ahead and had to pay like $7 and change on the last amount.

It is two months later, and I still have not received my refund. I can't find a number to reach a person in billing since the person who answers the phone is the same no matter what phone number you call. They claim to not have a corporate number or a number of anyone above them. Called the Clerk of Courts at the state level to find out who is the Authorized Agent for the state of Virginia and they gave me the following:

EXTREMELY UNSATISFIED CUSTOMER
I had to give a star but if it were an option I would give 0... I started working with GFL many years ago while they were still County Waste the merge to GFL has been a nightmare! My checks are cashed but not applied to the appropriate accounts. Lack of service and over flowing dumpsters for weeks at a time to be told by the rep that they are down 17 drivers. I dont receive invoices anymore and when I ask for them its a process to get a copy because you have to wait on the phone for 2 hours to speak to a person. I am currently pending my contract expiration dates and I will be changing companies. Sad part is County Waste was my prefered Vendor and I used to recommend them to owners and tenant all the time. This will no longer be the case as the service is not the same as it used to be... This is not a way to treat a loyal customer.

Disgruntled customer!
This is the worst company in the entire world. There are better companies in Africa better than this one. Awful, awful customer service! Something needs to happen. Hopefully, someone in management sees this review and rectifies the way GFL customers are taken care of by the customer service department. I called them regarding the issue of my bill, and some agent hanged up the call. I keep on receiving $25.00 debt payments, and yet I have an autopay. I am beyond dismayed!

HORRIBLE SERVICE
The way GFL treat their customers is a disgrace. I have been with county waste for over 4 years .I never had a problem or an issue until GFL took over now they say I did not make a payment .So I called customer service to explain I have all my bank statements where they took out the money from my bank statement .I have proof and they still say that I owe .I always pay before my bill is due every time I sent them my statement they will say we are backed up we will fix the problem. Well they did not and have the nerve to send me a bill saying that I owe for two months how is that possible when I paid in full each month I have bank statements ,so I cancel my service so I thought but. I did not trust them so I went back to check and they still never cancel my service .This company is sneaky so check your bank statements and keep records.

Math Trickery
My latest experience with GFL:

I received an email from GFL on 7/02/2024 showing my rates will be $124.12, previous quarter was $119.54. On June 27, 2022 GFL didn’t pickup my recycling, so they gave me a credit. On July 11, 2022 they didn’t pick up the recycle, so they gave me another credit.

I went on line to pay my bill I found an invoice in the amount of $133.50. So this is what happened to offset the credits they raised my rates after stating it would $124.12. The recycle was $18.75, so with the change the credit is only $4.58 instead of $18.75.

Currently for recycling twice a month, for the quarter it’s billed at $60.75. For trash the quarterly rate is $75.75, I believe boomerang is $66.00 per quarter for trash. I believe that I saw on GFL website that they would match charges.

great job guys!
I cancelled my service the first week of june...I was told I was PAID IN FULL until june 24th. I have not put any trash in the can after that date. I have since received a bill for "fuel surcharge". I have called "customer service" and was told basically thats just the way it is... it is now july 18th and the can is still in my driveway... I think your company owes me rent for "storage". GFL is a joke...DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! I give them a -5 out of 5 stars... keep billing me and I will keep sending reviews...

throwing money away
wca was a good company...gfl bought them out and my bill doubled. They missed many pick ups blaming it on weather but would not credit my account for lack of service. customer service was polite but would not credit me. They told me to just pile my trash up next to the can...ummmm... no! I don't want trash all over my yard because animals got into it. I paid for service I wasn't getting...but not for long...I would NOT recommend this company for service unless you want to want to throw your money in a can they won't even pick up. If I could pick 0 out of 5 stars, I would

BEYOND HORRNEDOUS.....
GFL Environmental is a HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE COMPANY! I have sent 6 emails since 6/26 today is 7/18 NONE were answered or acknowledged as received. Spend 60 minutes on hold a few weeks ago to fix a problem that was never fixed. Another 30 minutes on hold because they took $80 instead of $40 last month on autopay so I removed myself from autopay. It regurgitates over and over for everyone to go to their online account. My account, I cannot open any of my invoices as to why I was overcharged. Rep said I needed tech support and she will transfer, got cut off after 45 minutes for the total call. Called back another 30 minutes on hold for the Rep to tell me their system was down and I would have to call back. REPEAT GFL IS A HORRENDOUS, HORRENDOUS COMPANY. AVOID!. I am searching for a new provider of services. GFL is just beyond awful. Don't know why County Waste allowed this to happen to its customers. I could not even get through as a new customer. They never answer or care.

Drove right past my garbage can
Called 770-474-9273 and couldn’t get through. My garbage pick up is missed at least once a month. I watched them drive right by my house. Last time they picked my garbage up they left the top open and it was raining. I need a new garbage can because now the inside stinks. I’ve Had it 17 years. When it was just waste Industries service was so much better.

Horrid Company!! Avoid at all costs!
One star only because there is nothing lower. GFL failed to collect household trash for 5 of previous 6 weeks as well as at other appointed times over the last 18 months. They DO NOT collect on anything approaching the agreed schedule. When they miss a scheduled collection it can take up to 10 days before they finally collect the garbage. Meanwhile, they do not return calls nor answer phone calls without an hour's hold time. They have all the excuses for why they can't handle the job. The obvious is extremely poor senior management leadership, total lack of standards, local employees do not care one bit if they do a good job or not. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!

DENIED SERVICE
We moved to our new home almost a year ago and gfl is the ONLY trash service provider for our area. My wife and I moved in with her elderly mother and father who both have dementia. My mother-in-law set up service with gfl and we started off with them never picking up on time several conversations with customer service trying to update our information and request for more frequent pick up only to be missed for several months on end. My mother in law had a bad conversation with the only worker who would answer the phone at their office! The lady was extremely rude and because upset with her and made the apparent decision to deny our property services! Not sure how this is right given they are the only company that services our area and our parents have dementia! My father in law is also a disabled Veteran! Terrible company being represented by terrible customer service agents!

Trash pickup and customer service
We started our service in april. We were told 1st pickup would be april 8th. We were missed so had to wait till the next week to be picked up. We were missed again last week. They claim it wasn't curbside. It was about an hour and a half before driver said he was here. I'm done dealing with inconsistent pickup and rude customer representatives

Poor customer service & service
Not even a 1 star.I've called several times about my cans being in middle of drive way.& where they didn't pick up my trash now I've called last week about my container the lid was all broke I called she told me to leave it by the road & someone will pick it up & leave me a new container . Never got new container it sat by the road whole week & email them but no response. I called today & waited 10 minutes. Before anyone picked up. Now I wo t get a container for 3 weeks she said it was pushed back .so I'm not going to wait for it .maybe if we'd stop our payments and take weeks to pay what would they do.? No caring people work there .asked for a number yo corp.but they didn't have one .please.

Lousy service annoying hold music
After sitting on hold two different days for 45+ minutes still never got through. My container that came with this house in 1998 has had at least 4 times one of the wheels has broken off they just mail a new wheel. NOW I WANT A NEW CONTAINER ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! I AM SERIOUSLY THINKING ABOUT CHANGING SERVICES TO A COMPANY THAT ANSWERS THE DAMN PHONE OR EMAILS!

Horrible Service! DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!
We are switching to another company. This one is awful. They do not offer recycling pick up and if you have even one bag on the side of your trashcan they will ignore it and not pick that up. Today our trash can was overflowing (large family so it's always this way) but everything was in the can. When they finally picked up our trash apparently a bag or two fell on the ground. Guess what? They left it there. Now I had just been on hold for about 20 minutes with customer service. Finally someone answered said "Hello? Hello? No response." and hung up. I can't believe it!

Terrible Service
We have commercial service through GFL. For the last several months we have had inconsistent pickups for our dumpster and have had to make numerous calls. Last week I called because again the trash wasn't picked up. I was told our service was moved to Sunday. I explained that would not work for our schedule. I received a call back stating our account was dropped and they would no longer service our area. They failed to let us know or inform us and left us with a full dumpster. And no headway to obtain additional service for our trash. My multiple calls and voicemails inquiring when the dumpster would be picked up in order for us to obtain additional service went unanswered.

Unsatisfied Customer
Every Tuesday we have pick up service. On last Tuesday my trash was not picked up. I immediately called the customer service center to find out why my trash was not picked up. I was asked if all of my trash was in the can and nothing on the ground. There was nothing on the ground. I was rescheduled to have pick up later in the week for Thursday no later than Friday. After calling this morning to confirm that my trash will be picked up today since it was not picked up on Thursday, I was told that I did not get service on Tuesday because there were boxes in my trash that were not in a trash bag. I explained that I always have boxes broken down in my trash can since having service and that nothing has ever been said that this was against the company service policy. I explained that I have even had the large window blinds that go to patio doors up to my windows and my trash was still picked up. Today I was told that I would need to take the boxes out of my trash can in order for my trash to be picked up. I am furious due to spending so much money for service and now all of a sudden I can't get service that I normally get and there a boxes in my trash every week. I asked for a 1x courtesy for it to be picked up and was told that I would need to pull the boxes out. When I inquired about how to cancel services, I was told that to get a refund for the bill I just paid it would take 4-6 weeks. This is not a way to treat a loyal customer or has loyalty gone out the door!

Missed Service Pick Ups and Never delivered cans to new address
I have been a customer since they took over Waste Industries. I have had several missed pick ups at my address on Bar Harbor Ct. I purchased a home and transferred my service to my new home on Olmstead and was told that it would almost 50.00 to have the cans moved by them. I agreed to the fee and was told that I would have my two receptacles delivered on Thursday 1/13/2022 and my new pick up date would be on Fridays. Thursday can and went and my cans have not been delivered. It is now Friday and no trash cans. I pay for a service that I cant get. I called the local office at 770-474-9273 and after holding 35-40 mins, the customer service is horrible. No resolution and no real concern. The rep suggested that I cancel my service and I think that is the best advice that she could have given. I am very very disappointed in the service and customer service.

Poor service
Ever since GFL took over from Waste Industries, we have had multiple missed pickups that we have to call and reschedule. Not once have we received a prorated discount for missed services. Last week my large recycling bin got dumped into the truck and carried off, and when I called to ask about it, I was told that they would not replace the 96-gal can that Waste Industries had provided (we generate far more recycling than trash). Apparently now I can only have a smaller can which is inadequate for our needs, or pay double for two smaller cans.

And to top it off, they want to RAISE our rates. Maybe BBB can help.
