Frontier Communications Reviews (4127)

In July of 2015 I had sold the business where I had frontier as a provider. I had called and let them know that I needed to close the account due to selling the property. During that conversation I had been told that I was good to go. I didnt hear anything more from them after that until March of 2019 when I had a missed call on my phone. I called them back and explained that I had owned a business in the frontier area and that would be the only thing I would have thought that they had maybe called about. The customer service agent couldn't find my old account or anything pertaining to me at all. So she advised that I not worry about it as she thought maybe it may have been a scam call. Fast forward to May of 2019 and I get a call from frontier about a charge on my account for termination on my account. I explained that I had sold the business and that I told them to cancel the account back in July of 2015. They said since they didn't have record of it then it was still a legitimate charge. During the time frame of July of 2015 to January of 2019 the new owners to the business were using my account that frontier was supposed to cancel. All was fine until they realized they weren't getting what they were paying for and they terminated the internet but wanted to keep the phone. Apparently when that happened they "verbally" agreed to a year contract so when they canceled it completely then they were charged termination fees. All of this occurred on my account that was supposed to be canceled. Frontier not only didnt cancel my account they allowed more than one person whom was not authorized on my account to make changes and agree to contracts. They are not trying to hold me accountable for a bill over $600. This is 4 years after the business and account should have been closed. I was unaware of them even still using my account since nothing was being mailed to me at my home address and I had all of my mail forwarded from the business to my house.

Thank you
for referring the complaint of *** (*** DBA ***)
to our office for review. We appreciate
her bringing this matter to our attention. In the
complaint Ms. expressed concern regarding selling her business in July
of 2015. She advised she contacted
Frontier to let them know she needed to close the account due to selling the
property. Our records
indicate this account was suspended on February 25, 2019 and taken out complete
on March 26, 2019. This account
underwent multiple suspensions and reconnects until it was completely
disconnected. We failed to locate any customer request for
disconnect, nor was there any paper work submitted to complete a change of
ownership for the account. The account
indicates *** as an authorized party, but all credit information remains in
the name of *** Sanders. On June 16,
2015, our account notes indicate *** and *** were on the call to start the
Supercedure process. The paperwork was
emailed to *** but the
representative was unable to go over fees or any other information because
after placing the call on hold; the connection was lost with both parties. On July 28, 2015, there was another contact
with Russ, the business partner of ***. He advised the Supercedure paperwork was never received. The paperwork was resent to [email protected]. *** received them and agreed to get them signed
and returned and get the balance paid.On July 30,
2015, *** and *** called trying to get the old owners to sign the Supercedure
paperwork, but in the meantime the old owner had not paid the bill and the new
owners were disconnected for non-payment. They wanted to pay the past due bill,
so the phone service could be reconnected. The new owners were instructed to contact the representative once the
Supercedure paperwork had been processed to get them a better rate. On July 30, 2015, the new owner paid the past
due balance of $236.63.We have
contacted the change of ownership group and confirmed there was no change of
ownership, as forms were never submitted. There are no requests located for the service to be disconnected. There was
another call on January 18, 2019, during this call *** secured the account
with the PIN number. He called to
disconnect the internet service because it was terrible. He was only getting half the speed he should. He inquired how much the bill would be after
disconnecting the internet. He was
provided an option with a term to get a discounted rate or change from
nationwide unlimited to local calling. The representative went over his current bill rates, advising
month-to-month pricing. *** requested
to go to a local plan with a one-year agreement and said hopefully everything
will go well.Ms. Sanders
was contacted August 20, 2019 and advised as of today the credit information is
still in her name, there was never a change of ownership, the billing address
was never changed to a P.O. Box, and there is no record of a customer disconnect
request. Ms. believes she may
have additional information to provide. She was informed once the information is located, we can continue to
investigate this matter. Ms. was
advised she and *** would have to determine who would be responsible for the payment
of the balance of $659.52. We sincerely
apologize for the inconvenience this matter has caused. Should Ms. wish to discuss this
matter further, I can be reached at EXT 111-3143.Sincerely,Felicia

I cancelled my frontier internet service effective April 1 2019. My account was paid in full. I asked frontier to send me my final bill which I paid. I continue to receive monthly bills from frontier. I have spoke with numerous agents all saying they will take care of the issue and I owe them nothing. The agent I spoke with on June 25 2019 acknowledged I canceled internet on April 1st. They stated they would be passing the issue on to a credit review team which would take 3-4 days and I should be receiving a refund of $44.99 in 60 days. Today July 19th 2019 I have received a collection notice from Frontier stating I owe them $31.94. Also, they will be reporting to an outside collection agency and sending information to credit bureaus. I have not had frontier internet for almost 4 months. But yet I continue to be billed and now getting collected on. The issue is frontiers they cannot get things right.

Frontier Communications Response • Aug 09, 2019

Thank you for referring the complaint of *** to our office
for review. We appreciate him bringing
this matter to our attention. In the complaint Mr. expressed concern regarding cancelling his
internet account April 1, 2019. He
requested his final bill, which he paid but continued to receive new invoices.
He was advised a refund would be delivered in the amount of $44.99, he has yet
to received it. Our records indicate Mr. did request cancellation of service on
April 1, 2019. This order was not
processed effectively, which failed to deactivate the internet service. However, when the April 16, 2019 statement
generated, the customer was billed $44.99 for internet but received a partial credit
of -$23.94 for the internet. The other
charge of $66.25 were DISH Network charges, which brought the account total
balance to $91.29.The May 16, 2019 bill reflected the previous balance of $91.29, a
charge of $44.99 for internet service, and taxes of $3.99. The additional
charge was $66.25 for DISH Network service, which brought the total account
balance to $115.23. The June 16, 2019 billing statement reflected a previous balance of
$115.23, there was no payment received, and the balance forward was $115.23,
the charge was a credit of -$34.31, which brought the account balance to
$80.92. This statement included a Residential
Broadband Processing Fee of $9.99 and a credit of -$44.99, for the internet
service. There were no DISH Network
charges included on this statement. The July 16, 2019 billing statement reflected the previous balance of
$80.92, credit of -48398, balance forward was $31.94, new charges was a credit
of $49.25. The total account balance was
a credit of -$17.31. Our records
indicate a refund in the amount of $17.31 was generated with the July 16, 2019
billing statement. We apologize for any confusion Mr. experienced. The customer was credited for all internet
charges billed beyond April 1, 2019; however, the balance included the remaining
DISH Network charges that were unpaid. Frontier pays DISH in advance and passes on the charges to the end user;
therefore, these charges are due to Frontier. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this matter has
caused. Should Mr. wish to
discuss this matter further, I can be reached at EXT 111-3143.Thank you,Felicia TExecutive Customer RelationsFRONTIER

Our household has been experiencing an internet outage for over 3 weeks and we have contacted Frontier Communications multiple times to attempt to get the outage resolved. The issue has been proven to be on their back-end through testing we have conducted via switching out our currently installed DSL modem with a spare DSL modem we have. We have also done further testing through windows command prompt that our modem is not receiving a public IP address from their servers. All correspondence with them have been met with no resolution with the latest attempt ending in being hung up on from a technician after they claimed the problem was fixed despite being told that the connectivity had not been resolved. Furthermore, they are unsatisfactory in their times from first receiving a call to actually being put through to a technician.

Customer Response • Aug 05, 2019

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Frontier makes it sound like we reported an outage and they instantly corrected the issue, which is false.

July 02 - 2019

Frontier showed up to fix the voice portion of the phone (no voice - dsl functional) from a ticket called in a couple days prior. Was an afternoon visit and the field tech did indeed fix the voice (could now make voice phone calls). The internet (DSL) would no longer connect. A fairly obvious correlation as this has happened before, fix Internet and voice goes out. But I don't have dates so will let that go.

July 03 - 2019

Called Frontier to tell them the Internet (DSL) was not working since they visited. When directed to tech support was informed via recording that there was a known outage in my area and their techs were working diligently to repair. Couldn't reach a human being to report this outage.

July 05 -2019

After repeated calls (with hold times exceeded 30 mins) managed to reach a human being who simply stated there were widespread outages now and wouldn't assign a ticket!

July 12 - 2019

Called tech support each day between July 02~11 and could NOT place a service request ticket.

FINALLY reached another human being and he did a quick line test, claimed he fixed the internet and hung up. This was the straw that broke the camel's back. Called back and waited another 30 mins. Next "support staff" stated the same, he'd fixed the internet from afar. Pushed to have a technician do a site visit and support staff claimed a tech would be on site on the 18th. No ticket number given, nobody showed up on the 18th.

July 19 - 2019 After a no-show, called tech support AGAIN and waited over an hour! Tech argued with my wide that we had internet because her phone could connect to the Wifi! Yeah, but the Wifi had no WAN access because the DSL was still down.

July 20 - 2019

On the way home we saw a Frontier tech at the DSLAM our line terminates in (Games Ridge) and stopped to talk. Brian (the tech) stated he was the one who fixed the voice (original ticket that started this) and would come by and have a look. We allowed him into our home and he immediately blamed the router (this is far too common). He then provisioned a new router (current Arris model) and could not get it to work. He then stated he'd need to escalate the ticket, which he'd already closed weeks ago). I asked if I should go through phone hell and try to submit yet another ticket and he stated to do so and he'd try to escalate through his people and would return Monday (July 22).

I called Frontier and was on hold for 70+ mins awaiting a human being, who told me he fixed the internet when he did a line check. Unbelievable. I simply stated my internet button was red and not working until he gave me a ticket number and scheduled visit date, July 29th!

Jul 22 - 2019

Brian the tech did NOT return or call. I had his cell and send a message asking if he was gonna return like he said he would, no response. As a State of WV IT Client Analyst, I've worked with Brian before on setting up WAN access at a couple State agencies...so he KNOWS me. Wow.

July 29th - 2019

A different tech arrived on site, couldn't do anything from the home (internals and router(s) are fine), went to the DSLAM at Games Ridge and fixed the internet in under 20mins.

It took a full month, countless hours of frustration, lack of service and poor customer service to finally apply a fix in 20 minutes.

I understand and suffer a lot of outages, I get it, Frontier is the ONLY WAN provider in our rural area so we suck it up but this last month was too much. :/

We have been without internet now for 17 days. I’ve called 6 times. Twice there was no answer after an hour wait. The third time after an hour wait a girl tested and changed a lot of stuff and sent a new modem. Fourth time after an hour wait we were disconnected and they never called back like they said they would. Fifth time after an hour wait they put me on hold and 45 minutes later they hung up. No one called back. Sixth time he couldn’t find my name as authorized caller even though everyone else had. Refused to send a technician and refused to let me talk to his supervisor. We are still without internet services

I cancelled this account for landline phone and internet on 01/22/19 @ 4:23pm. I cancelled it online, via chat, and I called and followed up to ensure it was actually cancelled and spoke with Elvin. I kept receiving bills. After several calls this account was finally credited and I have a zero balance. However, Frontier took it upon themselves to open a new account in my name for internet service. On 02/16/19 I received a bill for $34.69 for internet for account number. I NEVER opened this account. On 02/26/19 I sent Frontier documentation that I cancelled my account and it was paid in full and that an account was opened without my approval. On 03/16/19 I received another bill for $78.38. On 04/05/19@ 10:55am, I talked to Chris and the fraudulent account was supposed to be closed and zeroed out, confirmation number. On 04/16/19 I received a bill for $59.73. Frontier had issued a credit for $18.65. On 05/11/19 I received a letter from the National Frontier Collections Center that I owed $59.73 and if it's not paid, they will submit my account to collections. On 05/20/19 @ 9:35am I spoke with Amanda (Agent ID#: V_Abbq54), she applied a $25.00 credit under confirmation number(because that's all she said she was allowed to credit for customer satisfaction and submitted a dispute for the remaining amount. On 06/16/19 I received another letter from the National Frontier Collections Center that I owed $59.73 and if it's not paid, they will submit my account to collections. On 06/18/19 @ 9:35am, I spoke to Victoria, she wouldn't give me her Agent ID#, and she indicated that she couldn't do an adjustment, but would add her dispute to Amanda's. She used said, "I'm escalating this to the dispute department" and gave me a dispute number. On 07/17/19 (today) I received a third letter from the National Frontier Collections Center that I owed $25.04 and if it's not paid, they will submit my account to collections. I'm mailing the letter back.

Ms. advises that she received a separate bill for internet following cancellation of her Frontier service that she did not order.

Frontier has investigated the above statements and offers the following response:
Frontier apologizes for the inconvenience this issue has caused.
Frontier advises that following the port out of Ms.’s phone number, a separate account was created to continue her internet service.
Frontier advises that after reviewing the new internet only account, we have credited the balance of $25.04 and this amount will be removed from collection.
Frontier advises that despite our best efforts we were unable to reach Ms. to discuss her complaint. Direct contact information has been provided.

We start our service with Frontier at 3/26/2019 and canceled it immediately at 3/27/2019 due to network speed not work good as what the sales man describe when he stops by our house. We called several times and discuss with their customer service representative, they told us there will be no charge for the service since we canceled it immediately, but nothing they will know until we receive the bill. Every time after the call, they ask us to wait until we receive the next bill, the bill should be change to no charge. We received bill month by month and called them month by month until we received the bill from collection agency. At the beginning, everyone in their company told us there will be no charge, and the salesman told us we can experience first then decide if we want to cancel for no charge of the service. But today, we talked to their CSR and supervisor again, they change the word. It’s really awful customer and billing service, also bad customer experience that I ever had.

I had moved to a new home of Aug 2018. Our first call to shut of the phone services was made on 10/29/2018. Due to cleaning the old home we left the service on for 2 additional months after we had moved out (already set up Frontier internet at the new home). I paid the phone service up until Nov of 2018. It wasn't until April 4, 2019 that we had realized they never shut off the phone services in the old home and we were still being billed. As of 7/18/19, I have made 3 disputes on the account. All the representatives I've talked to, in collection and billing, stated that they see where we called and shut off services back in October 29, 2018. This bill is now affecting our credit score and needs to resolved. I have contacted Frontier multiple times. I have been transferred back and forth, I've been hung up on, and not listened to. PLUS THIS IS NOT THE SECOND TIME FRONTIER HAS DONE THIS!! #2 in the books over here.

Frontier is the worse cable company I have had to deal with. After cancelling the service they kept on billing me ,I refuse to pay and they send me to a collection agency after I tried to contact them many times to explain why I thought I did not owe them nothing but no one gave me a logical explanation always telling me to speak to someone else and giving me the run around. Horrible company. Finally had to pay for something I did not owe. So unfair.

This Revdex.com complaint is in regards to Frontier Communications. Oftentimes there service is non reliable and their customer service is nonexistent. This is true even though there was no adverse weather in our area which can put an extra strain on phone/internet service.
Recently on Thursday, July 11th, 2019 my internet service kept on failing. It was operational for no more than 5 minutes at a time. My internet service was out from Thursday, July 11th to Tuesday July 16th, 2019. When I tried to call Frontier Customer Service, I was told the “wait time” was over an hour and then told that I could use their automated “call back” system and that my place in line would be held until they called me back. When I attempted to do that, their “call back” system also did not work and I was forced to enter a time/date after Tuesday, July 16th to even get a call back from them. I then called again and waited on the line for about 50 minutes to be able to speak to customer service. During the wait, I was then disconnected and my phone service from Frontier was not operating as well. I was left without phone for about 2 hours on Friday afternoon (July 12th, 2019). It took me repeated attempts (5 total) to finally get through to them. When I did, they finally agreed that a service technician in my area would need to look into the problem. It is a good thing that the service technician was part of an outsourced company utilized by Frontier because he was the only individual who knew what he was doing and finally corrected the issue.
I am a Senior Citizen as is my husband. It is dangerous that there was no way to get through to Frontier despite repeated attempts when BOTH our phone and internet were non operational. We rely on out land line systems since cell phone service does not work in our local area. Moreover, even though I asked, my bill was never credited for the amount our phone & internet service was not working. We are essentially forced to pay for a service that is not being provided.
To remedy this issue I would like full reimbursement for my 6 days of nonoperational internet and my 2-plus hours of nonoperational phone service. Additionally, Frontier needs to step up how complaints are reported in to them including: customer wait times, call back services, and putting in repair tickets so that local servicemen can come in to look at the issue. It is irresponsible of them to place their customers in a situation where services you have paid for and you rely upon are not working and where you need to make a herculean effort to have it corrected. Frontier received a report Ms.’s internet as out of service on July 14, 2019 and dispatched a technician on July 16, 2019 whom reprogrammed and restored Ms.’s service.

I have been a customer of Frontier Communications for almost 30 years, and have had to call them many, many times over the years due to poor service. However, the most recent issues have been by far the worst ever. We have been having issues with no wi-fi connection, and no internet connection to our devices in our home. So I have been calling for 3 days in a row now, and still have no access to the internet. In combination of the past 3 days, the total amount of time on the phone has amounted to over 6 hours on the phone and the past 2 nights, I have had the calls disconnected both times, with no one returning the call, even though they verify my call back number "in the event our call is disconnected." Tonight I was put on hold multiple times and every single time I told them it was ok, as long I could verify that someone would be returning my call if we got disconnected! And I was reassured that would happen! However, after being on the phone for 2 hours and 40 minutes, we were able to get our connections back to hook up our wi-fi to our phones, but we still have no internet, and have received no return call after the call was disconnected on their end!!!! We have been loyal customers for nearly 30 years, and for this kind of service????? This isn't even what I would call SERVICE!! This is an absolute DIS-SERVICE, and when I called 2 nights ago, the wait time was 30 minutes, last night it was 35 minutes, and tonight it was 50 minutes- or so the recorded voice said. Never was it only what they told me-in fact it was much longer than that! Tonight it said it would be 50 minutes, and knowing I needed my internet hooked up again since I am paying for it, AND I need it for both work and personal use, I chose to stay on the phone (without wi-fi at that time by the way, so paying extra money each time I called and waited for them). But tonight the wait time was well over an hour, when they said 50 minutes. So when speaking to a kind gentleman, who WAS able to get our wi-fi hooked up for us, but not the internet, he was to transfer me to a supervisor, and again promised they would return the call if we got disconnected. However, no return call, and when I attempted to call back, the wait time is now saying over an hour!!! (which really means closer to an hour 30 or more based on my experience!!!!!) This is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE customer service, and they need to know this!!!! However, it is impossible to reach them to tell them and we are unable to obtain any service so we WILL be changing providers! In our opinion, they should not even be in business at all!! Thank you and I hope someone does something with this company, since obviously, if the wait time is that long to reach anyone, we are not the only customers with issues!!! At this point, I will be calling CS tomorrow and will be refusing to pay our bill due to such poor service, and will be changing providers. Unfortunately, there is not much in our area, since we are in the country.

Customer Response • Jul 20, 2019

When I called them back last night I was on the call for an additional 2 hours just to file my complaint and they had no explanation other than that the only way I would receive a return call is if they have no one in the phone queue behind me, which I explained would never ever happen then since I had no less than a 35 minute wait time just to reach a live person so I suggested they update their process. In the meantime we have another carrier coming out next week as we still have no internet that we have been charged for! I told them I would not be paying any bill they send me and that I do expect a refund! But I needed to get a “trouble ticket” created first which no other tech had created! UNBELIEVABLE experience and I sure hope no one else has to go through what we have in past 28 years but most of all in past 4 days of calls!!! Again this company does not belong in business!

My service was canceled due to nonpayment. I stopped paying because I wanted to cancel my service and at that point I owed $140.68. It was sent to collections. The problem is that they sent it to 2 different collection agencies with 2 different amounts. They first sent it to *** for $140.68 and also to *** for $224.13. I wrote them a letter stating I was only agreeing to pay the $140.68. And agreed to pay $10 biweekly.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I called Tami Wednesday @3:38pm she did not answer so I left a message. I stated on the message my name and that all I wanted was to fix it to the one collection for the $140 if she could do that I did not need her to call me back and my phone number. Then on Thursday I received the letter she stated. The only thing it stated was “that she apologized for the inconvenience in the matter and I should give her a call”. I have heard nothing back so waiting to s*** if I get another 2 collection letters.

We had reliable internet that continued to increase in price despite promotions being offered to new customers at a lower price. So we decided to switch to Frontier internet. They had a promotion as well, ($200 *** gift card) for new customers, but I were committed to 12 months. Worst 12 months ever! We had multiple outages. I spent hours troubleshooting with them to fix it. Overall, very slow speeds and very frustrating. We could not use multiple devices or watch anything in HD. They did not attempt to satisfy the complaints, never pro rated our bill for the time we did not receive service, and never improved, so I cancelled when the time period ended. January 2019 was when we cancelled and for account ending in 830175
Once I cancelled, they failed to end the service and continued to accumulate service charges on my account. I notified them about the issue several times, but it still was sent to a collection agency several months later. *** file number *** PIN number ***.
When I called in March or April, they said they would fix it. Somehow they lowered the bill to $200, but I said that's still not right, it should be only $77 so they said it would need to go to a review board. I never heard back from that. They told me multiple times that they see a confirmation that my service was cancelled, but always say they cannot fix the bill or will have to have someone else fix it or whatever. I waited and waited, and continued to get invoices with the wrong charges. I do believe I owe them for the last month, but that should only be $77. I agreed to pay it once they corrected the bill. They are trying to collect $402.39!!! To make matters worse, we are trying to build our credit and buy a home, so having this bill in collections is absolutely unacceptable. After receiving the bill from a collection agency, I called that company and told them everything that we went through. They took the confirmation number I had from cancelling and said it was Frontier who would have to correct the bill. Then I called Frontier again, and they still admit that there's a confirmation of cancellation prior to this bill but then send my call back to the collection agency.
At this point, I am very angry and demand justice! They have jerked me around long enough and I'm done getting the runaround. This is fraud and its wrong that they can make up charges and charge whatever they want while advertising reliable fast service. False advertising and straight up FRAUD!!!!!!!

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 13687646, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I have been working with Ree R and she has been very helpful...our issue has been addressed and we continue to communicate with Ree R. She had someone at our house within a few days and as we continued to work through the issues we have some downtime but it is a lot better than it was previously. Ree insured that we had someone show up and continue to work on it till we were happy. So therefore me saying that I am unable to be reached is not correct. I had one missed call from another lady at frontier but I have been working with Ree and am pleased with her performance on this issue. Also for them to say it depends on the distance from certain points we are not that far from the frontier building and it is funny if that is case why do we have better service now... The person that sent the message must have been trained by the same person that trained our technician because it is all false information. So I want to say that I am thankful Ree and the service that she gave to us.So this complaint can be closed.

I had cancelled with frontier after several years. I returned all equipment and always paid my bill. I went on line to submit my final payment and actually received a confirmation number of *** for t(e amo7nt of $175.24. This evening I received a call from a collection agency. 8 proceeded to give the info I just shared. I then asked them to hold while I logged into my bank. The charge did in fact not clear. I then asked them to hold while I logged into the frontier website. Upon logging in I received an immediate server error. I was able to view payments and there was my payment with confirmation and a code of “failed” and again I tried to email their customer service again getting error code. 8 paid the collection agency that advised me 8 was a couple weeks away fr9m a negative credit hit. I have very good credit and find this troubling. If they had an error why wouldn’t they reach out the a long-standing customer first? Could it be that I cancelled with them due to a simple programming need they couldn’t fulfill. I cancelled simply because they dropped sny with that taking away my Mets programming. I do not th8nk this is good business practice to send a long-standing customer that returned all equipment over a payment that failed on their end with no prior notification.

There were a number of customer service issues throughout 2018 that involved slow service, outages/disconnections, and pricing discrepancies in desired services requested from Frontier Communications. Ultimately this led up to the disconnection from Frontier in early March of 2019 as we took Internet from a different service provider.

After the initial request to disconnect in the first week of March 2019, another call was needed to actual push through the process. No services were desired to be provided after the initial disconnect call in the first days of what would be the new billing cycle. The first week of April, Frontier Communications billed us for an entire month of service that they did not provide. We called and contested this, but it proved to no avail to find someone helpful in terms of customer service. In May 2019, we again received a bill for the last month of fully charged service that should have been prorated for the days of service actually provided. Another phone call was made in May to contest this billing statement. The June statement was received and sent back as refused via the US Postal Service.

A few days later, a collections notice was received regarding the past due amount. On June 19, 2019, we called Frontier Communications to discuss the collections notice that came from a third party agency. We told the billing specialist that we, again, disagreed with the charges on the account. The representative stated that she could open up a dispute to be reviewed internally from Frontier Communications. We discussed having the bill prorated down to the amount of days they actually provided service. The billing specialist explained that Frontier Communications reserves the right to charge a full month's service no matter how many days into the next billing cycle that service is actually active (which is the entire principle that we found impractical and unethical). Before disconnecting with the billing specialist, we asked if there was anything else we needed to do at the time and how we would know the outcome of the dispute. The answer was that we would continue to get billing statements from Frontier for July-September of 2019, and if the amount went down by the September statement, the dispute was resolved in our favor -- otherwise it would continue to be the full amount for a month's worth of service. She stated the dispute was good through September 19, 2019, and until that date, everything was on hold.

During the second week of July, we received no billing statement from Frontier, but a second notice from the third party collections agency threatening to report the outstanding bill to credit bureaus. We called the collection agency to discuss about the dispute being reviewed and the hold that was supposed to be on the amount owed. They told us we needed to discuss with Frontier regarding specifics. We then called Frontier Communications to discuss the collections notice. The call was transferred from a billing specialist immediately to the collections department at Frontier. They put us on hold to review the notes, but actually transferred us to the sales department to listen to promotions and offers. I explained that I did not want to talk to sales regarding our escalated billing matter. After they realized they could not assist, they transferred us back to collections and we started the process of the call all over again, only to be told that there is nothing they can do to help and that we need to talk to the collection agency that the amount was written off to.

At this point, we called Frontier Communications again to try and get someone helpful who could tell us about the dispute status. After going from a billing specialist to collections again, the Frontier collections department stated we would need to speak to customer service to review the billing dispute on the account. We were transferred again and we requested to speak to a supervisor for the sake of time spent on the phone alrady. The customer service representative stated her supervisor was not available but she saw the open dispute, so we stated she needed to find some sort of supervisor because we've talked to a collective amount of about 10 people with no one available to assist.
We were put on hold, and a supervisor stated that he had reviewed the account and had spoken to the collections department at Frontier during the hold time to get all of the information regarding the matter. He reiterated everything that had happened since March 2019, including that the amount Frontier alleged we owed was written off of their books and sent to collections on June 6, 2019. Frontier Communications collections department advised this customer service supervisor that once a debt is written off and sent to a third party collections agency, there is nothing Frontier can do and that we need to call the collections agency to discuss the matter (who conversely advised I call Frontier to discuss the discrepancy). We questioned him as to why on June 19, 2019 a billing specialist would have us open a dispute to be internally assessed for up to 90 days by Frontier Communications if there was nothing they could do anyway since the amount was sent to collections. He said this was a "good question" and admitted that there was no purpose to opening the dispute because it would never get looked at anyway due to the amount being written off and that there is "nothing they can do." We also asked him why Frontier would think it is okay to tell us that everything was on hold during the 90 day review period, when in fact it turns out the collection agency acts upon credit reporting and debt collecting independently from what is happening at Frontier. He again admitted the error on behalf of the Frontier representative who relayed inaccurate information on June 19, 2019. We then asked him to take accountability for their errors, as they were being misleading and tampering with people's credit, which we find unethical. He again stated that there was nothing Frontier could do since the debt was turned over to collections, even after we requested he reimburse us for the amount third party collections was trying to get from us. After multiple apologies for their errors, he declined to take any responsibility on behalf of Frontier and offered no resolution. He gave me the number for the third party collections agency before we disconnected the call.

I consistently have issues with my internet service with frontier. When I call customer service I am given unreasonable wait times. The last time I called they quoted me over an hour. I feel that they know it is the only internet service for some people and they don’t care if they help you or not because you have no option.

We have not had working internet service for almost 2 months. I have spent 6+ hours on the phone with customer service trying to get our service issues resolved but have received very little help. On June 21, 2019, I waited around all day for a scheduled appointment to fix our internet and no one showed up. It was rescheduled for July 11, 2019 and again, no one showed up. I’ve been through several different processes of resetting our modem and reconfiguring firmware with my laptop and the assistance of someone who works for customer service. We have not had working internet since the end of May 2019.

I called Frontier on the morning of 6/11/19 to have my internet service transferred to my new home. Before requesting to have my services transferred, I specifically asked when I would have services at the new house and was told I would have services the same day. I have not had internet service for 36 days and have paid for all of those days! We called back and were told that a service tech would be sent to our home to fix the issue; no one showed up. I spent HOURS (AT LEAST 10 HOURS in all) on the phone & in an online chat, mostly on hold, being transferred, & "disconnected". I contacted them through Facebook 6/27 and got someone to "escalate my issue" to a manager. When the manager finally emailed me, she said she would put in a request for the new installation to take place a week later. We made arrangements to be home for the technician on 7/12/19 as she promised. They never showed up, never called, never emailed. I emailed her again multiple times trying to find out what happened. When she finally responded on 7/15, she said they could not provide internet service at my new address. I requested a full refund from 6/11/19 on as I had been paying my bill this whole time as well as confirmation that my account would not accrue any additional charges. She still has not responded. I requested a call back on 7/16 to take place on 7/17. Someone actually called me back. Through a lengthy conversation she was able to process my "disconnect" at the old address. When asked about the refund, she said she could only refund me 1 months bill even though I have not had service for over a month, but she would also be charging me a disconnect fee! WHAT'!? The reason I had to disconnect was because they promised service at an address they could not service!! I never would have asked for the transfer if I had known all of this! Due to being promised service over and over again and not getting it, we have paid extra data charges on cell phone bills costing me more money and headache!!!

In Sept 2017 When I called to order internet for my address Frontier told me I was in the 25 meg zone but when the installer came out to install it he said I could only get 6 meg. After hours on the phone trying to get resolve with Frontier, they told me that the 25 meg would be available in my area soon. I have no other provider at my address so I said I would take the 6 meg for now and they could contact me when the 25 meg was available. They told me they could not contact me I would have to check back even though you are on hold at least 30 minutes with them everytime you try to call. . They would still charge me the higher price for the 25 meg even though I could only get 6 meg because that is what I ordered. In a couple few weeks I checked and they said the do have 25 meg available in my area but it would be an upcharge of about $140 to have a service person come to my house and change it. I explained that I am already paying for 25 meg and that is what I ordered. After hours of arguing and getting cut off and calling back and being on hold a specialist finally waved the upcharge and scheduled the upgrade. Please keep in mind the 25 meg is what I originally ordered because they told me it was available at my address and that is what I have been paying for. Anyway, as time goes on to current, I have had countless outages and have had to call in uncountless times to find out if I am in an outage area or if it is something wrong at my location. I have internet outages at least once a week. Every time I call, I am on hold for at least a half hour and usually get cut off and even though the agent always promises to call me back they never do. The system even has a call back option but I have tried that a few times and never get a call back. I had one agent one time tell me that I wasn't home when they scheduled a repair man because he couldn't get in the house. I explained I was home, he didn't need to get in the house because he found the problem before it got to my house. It was a short in the wire that goes under the public road going to my house. This fix lasted for a month or so but then we started having outages frequently again. I had an agent tell me that I had rebooted my modem 171 times in the last year and I explained the only time I rebooted the modem is when I had to call in and an agent walked me through the reboot process which was only maybe a dozen times in the last year. She said, "Sir, lets be honest with each other!" I told her I was being honest. She told me it is most likely my modem and I explained it wasn't as I have an phone booster that hooks direct to the internet and that was not working either so while she was on the phone I took a good modem I had from my last house and hooked it up and it came up - no internet. She finally scheduled a technician but once the system started working while we were talking she cancelled the technician. I have begged almost every agent to please put me in touch with a specialist so I could discuss my account and problems and every time they put me on hold they cut me off before I get to talk to someone. Again, I have spent numerous hours on the phone with them getting no where. I have asked to please have a specialist call me back and some agents promise that will happen and I never get a call back. I am so frustrated and I want to cry. I just want my internet service to work and not have to sit on the phone for hours trying to diagnose my modem every time when it is never my modem, it is always an internet outage sometimes lasting several minutes, and sometimes lasting several hours. When you call in, once it knows your account the automated system tells you it is diagnosing the problem and it should now be working and never is. Oh, I also tried chat sessions online at different locations trying to fix the problems and sometimes sat in queue for hours waiting only to get someone that was no help to get things working. Again, I want to cry because of frequent outages and the time I have to spend on the phone only to get nothing resolved. I was told by an agent 2 nights ago which by the way I was on the phone with them 3 hours, the first agent cut me off after telling me he would get me to a specialist and promised to call me back if he lost me, he never did. The second agent actually messed things up so bad that when you tried to sign on to our wifi it went directly to a Frontier access asking everyone for my account number and information. The 3rd agent during the 3rd hour was bewildered and while he was tying to figure it out I was able to access the wifi thru direct connection and reconfigure it to accept the regular wifi sign in. During this time, the agent said he was going to get a specialist to help because he was lost and he promised if we got cut off he would call back. He did cut me off, I never got a call back but the internet started working about a half hour later. Oh, getting back to the first of the 3 agents that night, he told me that internet outages happen frequently and even he experiences a lot of outages with Frontier. I worked for a company in a little town in Wisconsin for 29 years and since internet, we maybe would experience a small outage once every couple years. I apologize I did not keep track of every phone call as I did not expect this to be an ongoing problem for a year and a half. I am sure I could summon my phone records if needed. Oh, and one more thing, I changed my phone number in February of this year but everytime I call in, the agent reads back my old phone number on the account and each time I explain I have a new phone number and they tell me "I am sorry the last agent did not change it in the system but I will change it now" . Again, many many agents told me they updated my phone number in the system but did not. This is not acceptable that I have this many outages and that this company does not acknowledge it or try to help resolve the issue and cost me many many hours on the phone just trying to get the service I pay for.
