Review: My family and I arrived to Billings after a long day of driving and were hoping to find a hotel for the night to stop and rest. The first hotel we stopped at had no vacancies and said that the Econo Lodge was the only place they new of with any rooms available. They called the Econo lodge for uss and had them hold the room until we could get there and decide if we wanted it or not. I got to the front desk and mistakenly said I would take the room. They got my information and took my card. When I saw the receipt I saw the cost of the room was $209 I asked the front desk personnel if I could have a moment to talk it over with my wife. At that point they said it didn't matter they'd already charged me and checked me in and wouldn't refund the money at this point. I thought that was the worst that was going to happen and then I saw the condition and size of the room I'd just paid $209 for!! The room was about 12 ft x 14 ft with a small bathroom. It was dirty and in disrepair with chips in all the wood, a broken baseboard heater that was a danger for my children with a sharp piece hanging out into the room, and dust and dinge throughout. I am taking pictures & will post them so that I can hopefully save someone else the hassle someday!Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of my total bill of $209. And if possible it would be great if a code inspection of the hotel could be conducted. I can't imagine that they're allowed to operate and charge that much for rooms in such terrible condition, with safety concerns as well.

To whom this concern:
On 5/3/2013 Joel Peters stayed at our facility, A hotel clerk from another hotel called this hotel and asked if we had a room and the price of the room for this guest as Billings was busy this weekend and room availability was minimal. This .guest came to the Econolodge and checked in and paid for his room. The guest complained about the rate of the room and requested a refund. The guest was informed of the no refund policy and went outside and came back and signed his registration card and went to his room. The guest came back to the front desk and complained that the room was too small and requested a refund a second time. The guest was again informed of a no refund policy. The significant came to the room and was also informed of a no refund policy, The guest and his family went to their room and stayed the night and checked out in the am. No complaints about the room were made to the front desk with the exception of the room size.
, If you require any further assistance or needs please feel free to let me know. We do no refunds under any circumstances, so no refunds will be done.
Sincerely,
[redacted] General Manager

Review: My husband and I made a reservation for this hotel (Econolodge) on Monday August 5th via telephone. After we arrived and checked in we went up to our assigned room to find the door open, the bed a mess, and a man asleep in the bed. We went back down to the lobby to request a new room. The second room was supposed to be non-smoking but it smelled strongly of smoke. The room was also not very clean and the complimentary lotion, etc. appeared to be used. Also, the vanity in the bathroom was in great need of repairs to be considered safe for customers. The door was hanging off one hinge at an angle where someone could easily injure themselves. (Room 202 was the first room, and room 205 was the second). There were also strange men hanging around outside the hotel and right by our room door. I did not feel comfortable spending the night so my husband and I immediately canceled our reservation and checked out. We requested an refund but were told to contact the manager himself ([redacted]). I have contacted the business each day since the incident and have still not received a refund. I left phone messages, emails, and personal messages to the managers desk. He did not respond once. Eventually the front desk stopped taking my calls and my husbands calls. I filed a complaint with Choice Hotels customer service and received the direct number to the manager. He finally answered, said he received my messages but did not acknowledge his lack of response, and told me to call the front desk for a refund request form. I turned in the form a week ago and have still not heard a response.Desired Settlement: I want a refund immediately.
