You must leave your location services set to Always On, so they can track your hours even if you are a salary employee and don't have set hours. This results in an inaccurate basis in which they determine the amount you are allowed to cash out (based on the hours you are tracked at the location). Even if your bank can provide a history of direct deposits and unchanging paychecks, and even if you can also provide your pay stub, they still require you to track your hours.
Though this company was started some time ago, still in 2019 they have not been able to support people who work from home or are continually driving to clients. They will still prevent you from taking the full an accurate payout if you have not tracked a certain amount of time at one location. The app is quit literally bias and not open to everyone and not everyone can use it. This is Faulty and Unethical and 7 years after being founded the developers still have not fixed this.

Earnin Response • Mar 18, 2019

We sincerely apologize for the confusion on how the system tracks the earnings. The Automagic Earnings feature adds earnings to the customer's account automatically using the device's GPS location. Since salary employees don't usually have an electronic timekeeping system or electronic timesheet, this feature would work best for them. Upon reviewing the chat session, it appears that there's an instance where the customer worked from a residential area and since the feature records the specific work location, the app missed to add the earnings. However, we can confirm that earnings are now being added properly and were also thoroughly explained by the support team. She can always reach us back in-app 24/7 if ever there's anything else we can help with.

Error on employee's end and not resolved. Lack of help from support team.
I borrowed money from the Earnin app. My company merged with another and the pay period changed. I contacted the Earnin support team to change my pay period. The support team member assured me that she changed the date. However, that was not the case. I was then charged on my previous pay period date, resulting in overdrafting my account. Contacted support team to find out the woman never actually changed the dates and there was nothing the Earnin support team could do to alleviate this matter. They changed the pay period date, and told me to contact them when the overdraft fee is posted. Contacted them when overdraft fee is posted, they said to send them the reason for the overdraft from my bank. Th statement showed it was in fact because of the Earnin app's withdrawals that made my account become overdrafted and was also the reason why I acquired the $75 overdraft fee. Sent it to the Earnin support team to receive no response. It has been a week now, and I have sent 5 emails with no response. This service is supposed to alleviate people from the financial burdens that occur, however it has only seemed to add to it.

Desired Outcome

I want the overdraft fees I have now inquired from the Earnin app company to be paid for and refunded to me from Earnin

We're sorry to hear about the experience that the customer had with our support team. We've seen that she contacted us ahead of time requesting to change the pay period and we highly appreciate the effort. However, Upon review, We do apologize for the misunderstanding because we've set up her pay cycle based on the pay stub provided as ( Pays every other week on Friday. Holidays always pay the day before). We're persistent to help her out, we've asked her several to send us a screenshot that shows the detailed information of the overdraft fees. We even informed her to log in to her bank account through the online website then take a screenshot/picture of the bank statement if she can't find it using the online app. Sadly, she keeps on sending the same screenshot and we're still unable to confirm if the overdraft charged is caused by earnin. We really want to fix this for the customer. We advised her to continue to contact our support team via chat or email.

This site worked fine for a couple of months and I always paid my payday loans on time. One day I ran into a bank connectivity issue that it seems like a lot of other consumers are running into. Despite all that I really needed the money since I cashed out a lot due to a previous emergency of being in a car wreck the previous pay period. Much to their disappointment they didn't know I had another bank I could deposit funds into other then my Capital One account. Now they are telling me they have to verify my bank 2 weeks from now. One thing I just don't understand is that if they are having "connection" issues to Capital One then how come they still took out the money I owed them from a previous check, but I'm unable to borrow from them? Anyways this put me behind on some bills due to this and I've deleted the app. Oh also don't bother with customer service sometimes it seems like they have automated responses to certain inquiries. It's great for a month or two but it seems like it conveniently stops working after a while.

I use the app regularly and tip moderately and my pet pay period max has gone from $500 down to $250 with no real explanation as to why. I've never had an issue with earnin not being able to debit my account on payday.

I do enjoy the convenience of the app and how fast the deposit gets to my bank account I just don't understand the steady decrease in allotted amount, especially since my pay hasn't increased since getting earnin.

The app took money out of my account 4 days before the agreed upon date causing my bank account to overdraft.
I usually allow debits to come out of my account on the last working day or the month. I explained to them on Saturday February 22 that I was leaving my current job. I explained that my last paycheck would be coming as a mail in not a direct deposit and would need to change the date of the day the debits came out the one time to March 4th or 5th andwas told that was fine and it would be changed for me. Yet on February 28th the money came out of my account. Causing my account to overdraft and causing $105 in overdraft fees. I immediately reached out and was told that it was taken out due to the date "never being confirmed" yet no one reached out to confirm so I had no idea. I've been given the run around by a few people that work with the app as to when I'd hear an answer from the specialist who reviews accounts and gives refunds. I don't mind paying what I owe but I deserve a refund for the overdraft charges. Had they taken it out Monday or Tuesday, the money would have been there and I would not be stuck days with no access to funds. Due to overdraft my check wasn't allowed to automatically get put into my account.

Desired Outcome

I just want a refund for the overdraft fees that I have to pay due to their transactions coming out days before I told them to take them out.

Earnin Response • Mar 13, 2019

We're very sorry if we've debited the account prior to the customer payday. We understand how difficult this must be for her to deal with bank having those overdraft fees. As a resolution, We have issued a credit in the account for the amount of $105.00 to cover the overdraft fee that our debits caused. If she have any further questions or needs help, she can contact us through ***@earnin.com.

This app has crashed and cannot connect to my bank to perform service. No updates given and can only contact app digitally. It's been a week.
This app crashed and could not connect to my bank, even though I was able to connect to my bank just fine. When I asked for an explanation via email (as there is NO PHONE LINE, only email and chat -- which the chat was unavailable to me for quite some time as I could not even log into app), EARNIN could not provide me with one. I asked what the issue was, whether my bank was the one having trouble connecting or if they withdrew partnership with the app and NO ANSWER WAS GIVEN. Just "We are working on this and will provide updates soon." I waited for about 3-4 days. Then, on the 1st of the month, I wanted to check as I need to pay rent -- and again (this time via chat, as it was finally made available to me), NO UPDATES OR EXPLANATIONS! I have screenshots of the chat as well. There is no way for people to get copies of chats, as well. The help person had no idea if that feature was even available. I asked if I could speak to someone higher up and it was negated / ignored. This is not a good business model at all! I also said I would report the app to apple / Revdex.com if they did not at least try to honor my request or provide a better detailed update but all they could do was apologize as no updates were currently available. I am beyond angry as this app preys on people in tough financial situations and they must be held accountable for this. I've found myself in tough financial situations within the last few months after moving and taking a pay cut, so this app was useful for a little bit. Until recently, even my usage of the app was finicky. They never processed my "time card" properly and did not even have record of when my pay days were. They requested screenshots even after I provided them. I tip every single time as well, in hopes their processes improve, but this is beyond okay. This business model is attacking people like me, or in worse financial situations, and must be responsible for their actions. Lack of reachable customer service, lack of detailed information, lack of organization and smooth processes - not okay. Please assist and please let me know how I can provide emails, screenshots, etc. of our interactions. Thank you so much.

Desired Outcome

I need the app to fix their issues, provide a detailed explanation, and debit my charges / cashouts asap. I need this before the 5th of March.

Earnin Response • Mar 13, 2019

We're sorry for any delays and thank you again for your patience as we work diligently with Capital One to fix your connection issue. By the way, we're able to process the $100 credit as a gift for being so patient with us. The $100 gift should post to her bank account.

Also, We have great news! Our connection with Capital One is back, If ever she encounter any issues please do let us know. Thank you again for the patience as we worked to fix the issue.

Earnin rep advised me to do something that has cause me to over draft my personal checking account.
On 02/19/2019 I contacted earnin and advised that my employers pay frequency will now be bi- weekly instead of weekly. They advised that I would be able to use my account, and they would change the debit this one time as a courtesy to 03/05. I continued to use my account as I was advised I could do so. Today I see they have debited my account and I am over drawn with a $34 fee. I contacted earnin to see if they can correct this issue on 02/28/2019 and was told they could not do anything- to please check back once the payment has posted to my account (in overdraft). I did just that and they tell me that it will take 24-48 hours to get an escalated team member to review this huge mistake, which is not acceptable as I have never been over drawn in my bank account. Earnin does not have an appropriate way to communicate with them other than by chat through text, and they have not been able to resolve my issue in any way shape or form.

Desired Outcome

I need to not be over drawn on my account, the $34 fee to be credited to my bank and for earnin to keep their word on when the debit would happen. If there are speculations or loop holes that caused this to happen, it should be explained in DETAIL since we are reading everything through text.

Earnin Response • Mar 13, 2019

We're sorry to hear that the customer account was debited early. As a resolution, We have issued a credit in the account for the amount of $34.00 to cover the overdraft fee that our debits caused. If he has any questions he can contact our support team via chat or email.

Customer Response • Mar 13, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
REFUND WAS ISSUED

This company caused an overdraft fee to my account which in their bylaws state that they're not suppos to.
This company caused a $36 overdraft fee to my account. When I contacted them about the issue because they withdrew $50 from my account which caused a $36 overdraft fee in their bylaws it states that they will check your account before withdrawing money from your account to make sure that you're not being issued an overdraft fee. I contacted them via text which I have the screenshots of the conversation I had with one of their employees. They don't want to take blame for the overdraft fee stating that the screenshot I sent them of my account doesn't show that they are the company who caused the overdraft fee but clearly on my bank statement it shows that they took their money out and right afterwords a $36 overdraft fee was assessed to my account. I asked them to speak to someone about this matter so that we can get this resolved and their answer to me was someone will get back to you they don't have a phone number and there's no time limit on how long this matter can take meanwhile my account is still assessing and growing with overdraft fees. They are not trying to be helpful about this matter and I want to report them as a business because again in their bylaws it is not state that this is something that they would do this is actually a counter action and with their statement for their bylaws state that they will do.

Desired Outcome

I would like to see my $36 plus what other late fees that may have occurred while they were taking their time to resolve this issue refund it also I would like for them to refund the money that they took out of my account for the $50 for the fact they were not supposed to take it out of my account if my balance was not more than that amount so I would like to see all my money refunded from this company to $36 any additional overdraft fees and also the $50 taken out initially.

Earnin Response • Mar 13, 2019

We're sorry about this and we want to fix it for our customer. After reviewing the account, In the past, our debits have posted without causing an overdraft charge, so we're not sure why this time was different. In this case, We have issued a credit for $36.00 to cover the overdraft fee that our debits caused. But for the $50.00 unfortunately, we're not able to refund since this is our debit for the amount that she had cashed out and this is a valid charge. By the way, the refund will post to her bank account after 3-5 business days.

If she have any further questions or needs help, she can contact us through [email protected].

Started using this company about 2 months ago and now they are nothing but lies. The bank that I use is some how no longer able to be used with the cashout option but they were able to take over 300 out of the account just fine on that same Friday. I spoke with one of the representatives of the company and they ensured me that they were working to get the issue resolved with the bank and that I would be able to cash out soon. That's been days ago. They did offer a credit of 100 to the account but when you got back over 300, 100 isn't going to cut it. Now that I have 2 emails confirming that I would get another credit due to this issue still going on, they are denying that it was ever offered to me. I kept the emails for proof. I don't trust this company at all. It's a scam. Stay away.

Earnin charged me and my bank issued $125 in overdraft fees all because my HR changed our payroll system and my paycheck was delayed by a single day.
On February 19, 2019 I was charged 5 separate transactions to my bank account (acct. #: XXXXXXXX). This would have been fine normally as I was expecting a paycheck. My work switched our payroll and timesheet system to a different provider and my paycheck was delayed by 1 day. However, Earnin proceeded to charge my account 5 separate times ($25/ea) for the money that I borrowed from my last pay period during the time, and since my account was empty, this resulted in a whopping $125 in overdraft fees from my bank. My checkings balance was about $-560 that day, until I received my paycheck the day after. I feel that this was a very aggressive way to charge someone, especially when I am usually contacted or at least notified if something goes wrong with my bank account and Earnin.

I actually reached out to Earnin support the day it happened to request a refund to make up for the overdraft fees from my bank, and Earnin told me they would have to have a specialist work on my case and contact me via email. I didn't receive an email within a few days about either about my issue or even just a simple confirmation that they got my issue and that they would be working on it. So I contacted them again and asked about my issue, and they said not yet and that they don't know how long it will be since it all depends on on how many specialists they have working on cases and how many they have free.

It has been over a week and I have heard absolutely nothing. I feel as if my issue is being swept under the rug and that if it weren't for the Revdex.com that I would have absolutely no other options but to accept that I wouldn't be getting my money back. The fact that the money had to be taken out in 5 separate transactions instead of one big fee is ridiculous, and losing $125 is something I just cannot cope with due to not making very much money in the first place.

Desired Outcome

I would like a complimentary $125 funded back into my account to make up for the $125 of overdraft fees that my bank has charged me for Earnin's service.

Earnin Response • Mar 13, 2019

We're sorry to hear that the customer account was debited early. Since we don't communicate directly with the employer, we have no way of knowing if the date of the direct deposit will change. Because of this, we'll automatically send out debits on the normal payday, unless we have advance notice of the change. If she Would be able to send us a copy of notice or email from HR? Again, We're sorry about the trouble she have had and we want to make the experience better for her.

Customer Response • Mar 13, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Earnin support got back to me via email to discuss my issue, they have moved pay payday up a day and refunded me the full $225 of overdraft fees. I am completely satisfied about how they handled the situation and I am impressed that they got back to me and handled it with little to no problems. Thank you!

AWESOME APP!!! WORKS EXACTLY AS PROMISED

Earnin Response • Mar 01, 2019

We're thrilled to hear this! Thanks so much for your feedback! Just reach us anytime if there is anything we can do for you, or if you have further questions. We're always here for you!

The company is legit, but I feel there is some false advertising in the midst. You can only borrow up to a certain amount and that amount can go up or down based on how much you tip and or use the app (which is not advertised). If you don't borrow often your pay period max can go down (but they say this app shouldn't be used as a crutch if you have bad spending habits). Also, you have earnings that you get by them tracking your location at work. You earn money by being at work, but can never really cash out your earnings when 1. You have a pay period max, and two they expire after a while. You'll never really be able cash out ALL of your earnings. Then they say they don't charge interest but you have the option to tip. Your pay period max can go down if you don't tip. This is also misleading. You're given the choice, but then penalized for it. I won't be using them anymore. It's kind of a scam.

Earnin Response • Mar 04, 2019

Really appreciate the feedback, and for sharing your thoughts about how the app works. To provide additional information about the topics mentioned, Maxes have many factors considered when increasing or decreasing. Some of which include: your bank balance, your spending habits, if your employer works directly with us, and if you overdraft. We pay to cover the costs of sending money out and keeping the service up, and tips from everyone help us cover that cost to make sure that we're still available for you in the future. Pay period Maxes are set to ensure that people using the app won't go overboard, and will still expect a paycheck. Furthermore, the earnings being added to a customer's account rolls over after their current pay period ends, since the app records earnings automatically for hours that were currently worked. Hence, these earnings won't be added to the next pay period. You can always reach our support team in-app 24/7 if you have further questions or issues.

I was treated very poorly. They asked for all my vital information only to say that I needed a timesheet in order to be approved for the loan. My account has been over drawn and this process was a complete waste of my time. My job does everything through computers. It just seems like the people who are suppose to help you don't help at all. They were very unprofessional and this process takes you through too much verfication.

Earnin Response • Feb 27, 2019

Upon reviewing what transpired with the chat session, it appears that our support team handed the conversation professionally, and clearly explained the reason why the documentation was not accepted. The system adds earnings based on the days that the customer already worked, and it appears that the timesheet provided shows the customer's schedule instead. Our support team also offered additional help as needed and if there is any feedback or suggestions, they can reach us anytime.

So I was going through my bank account a noticed earnin debited $44 then another $113 in the same day. I get it you pay what you owe but I didn't borrow that much especially if my max was $100. I just started using earnin so I was a lil weary about the app with them having my account number. Now im up to almost $300. How does this work really? I thought we pay what we think is fair. Please explain to me. My max is $100.

Earnin Response • Feb 27, 2019

We're sorry about the confusion with your transaction. Since the customer enrolled in Balance Shield, this will sends money to the account for $100.00 automatically any time our system sees the balance drop below $100. Normally, All our new customers start with a pay period Max of $100 and a daily Max of $100. Ongoing, the pay period Max can range from $50-$500 based on the use of the app, spending, and their bank. Maxes can increase up to $500. As per further checking, the customer has a max of $150.00 as a starting.

Here is the breakdown of the cash out that the customer made:

Amount $40.00 $4.00 Tip - Cash out date: 2/10/19

Amount $100.00 $13.50 Tip - Cash out date: 2/2/19 - Balance Shield

and the scheduled debit was on 2/14/19.

We hope this info helps in some way.

They took out my payment 10 days early. And refuse to reimburse me for the NSF. For two weeks they have given me the runaround, looking for some way to blame me. Today, they flat out said that it was my problem and they will not give me a refund. This is despite multiple emails acknowledging that they made an error. And there were screenshots and chat transcripts to back up everything. Approach this company with caution. I paid it forward every time. They returned the favor by stabbing me in the back.

Earnin Response • Feb 27, 2019

We're sorry for the inconvenience that has caused to the customer. Our support team initially offered to process the reimbursement for the NSF clearly stated on the message which bank account would she like to get it deposited to? if it's on the old account with Ally Bank or the new one with Alliant Credit Union? Since the account is already been closed, we highly encourage her to please contact us through ***@earnin.com so we would know how are we going to reimburse the money back to her.

I think u guys suck ur commercials are not true.

We're sorry if our ads are interrupting the show, but we're just trying to get the word out there, and this is one of the outlets we're currently using. If you have questions about how our service works, just reach us anytime by email so we can help.

Debited from my account almost two weeks early!
I had been using Earnin since Sept 2018. They always debited my checking account on the last day of the month, which is my payday. However, on 2/15, my account was debited 4 times. This put my checking account in the negative, with 4 overdraft fees added by my bank because of this. Those fees totaled $144.00. I contacted Earning through their chat option on the app on 2/15. DJ *** was the rep who helped me and supposedly got it all figured out and stated that I'd be reimbursed for my overdraft fees. On 2/19, nothing had happened, so I contacted again. This time, the rep was *** (same last name as the previous rep...interesting). He informed me that the first rep did nothing on their end to resolve this. *** had me send screenshots of my bank account so he could properly file for my reimbursement of overdraft fees, and that I would soon receive an email regarding this. I didn't get an email. On 2/20, I still hadn't gotten those fees back, however, my bank finally declined payment to Earnin. I am still negative due to the overdraft fees. Contacted yet again. April Joy said that everything was done properly by *** and asked when I wished to be debited again. I told her that nothing had changed and that it will always be the last day of the month. She said I would received an email shortly from a "specialist". We shall see.

Desired Outcome

I wish to be reimbursed very soon for my overdraft fees. My bank account is in the negative through no fault of my own.

Earnin Response • Mar 04, 2019

Upon carefully reviewing the customer's account and messages, we can confirm that our support team was able to resolve the issue by correcting the customer's pay schedule, and by refunding a total of $144 of overdraft fees last 2/20/19. It was also explained that the customer's account will be on temporary hold until our debits successfully posts. He can also reach us back anytime if he has a date that works best for him to have the debits scheduled.

Earnin taking money early and earning taking money when they said they wouldn't.
Feb 8th earning deducted 50 dollars from my account successfully, and 109 unsuccessfully. However my account is not supposed to be deducted till feb 10th two days in advance. Because I was not informed of this my account was charged 60 dollars in fees. When I contacted customer support they said they would halt any activity on the account until the matter was looked at and taken care of. However on feb 11th, 2019 earnin took the 109 dollars from my account again without informing me. Causing me to go into the negative again this time 164 dollars. Earnings inability to active prevention from this deduction cost me 224 dollars. In

Desired Outcome

I want my 224 dollars and my account with earnin closed

Earnin Response • Feb 27, 2019

Upon reviewing the customer's account and ticket, it appears that our support team already assisted the customer by correcting the pay schedule to make sure that this issue won't happen again, and a refund of total of $90 for the overdraft fees were also credited back. We're still waiting for the customer's response to make sure that every concern are addressed accordingly.

They drafted my payment an entire day earlier even though they had my schedule paydates verified.
I get paid on the 2/15/2019 not a holiday or weekend
I reached out to the company once I found out that they had made a mistake, they didnt resolve it. Instead they caused my account to overdraft, which they penalize you for during the use of the app.
The company does not have a customer support number so every communication with them takes days, even weeks to get resolved and when you do reach out to them they are not able to offer solutions they just ask or give vague questions/answers so every email you send its like starting over again again and again.
I want my overdraft fees refunded in a timely fashion and I WILL NEVER use this service again

Desired Outcome

I want my overdraft fees refunded in a timely fashion and I WILL NEVER use this service again

Earnin Response • Feb 27, 2019

Upon reviewing the customer's ticket and account, we've confirmed that our support team already corrected the pay schedule to make sure that this issue won't happen again. Also, a total of $32 overdraft fees were also refunded last 2/21. We've also offered additional assistance as needed and assured that she can reach us anytime.

They will overdraft your account! They say they take money out a day earlier if your payday falls on a holiday unfortunately no one there knows that Valentines Day is NOT a holiday.

Earnin Response • Feb 19, 2019

We're very sorry if we've debited your account prior to your payday. We've corrected your pay schedule as Pays every other week on Thursday. Holidays always pay the day after. We also issued $30.00 credit in the account to cover the overdraft fee that our debits caused. If ever you have additional questions, please contact us through ***@earnin.com.
