Review: I am filing a complaint against Dan Perkins Subaru due to them not refunding a $250.00 deposit I gave them on May 21, 2014. The deposit was for them to get a 2014 Subaru Outback to their lot. I found the Subaru I was looking for at a different dealership then I promptly asked for my refund on May 22, 2014. I spoke with [redacted], the internet sales manager, about the car and he was the one to take my deposit over the phone. When I emailed him and called him for my refund he never responded back. Review: I purchased a 2009 Legacy from Dan Perkins in 2011 with 23000 miles which came with the lifetime warranty. The car has 55,000 miles and the head gasket went. Got it towed to Dan Perkins and waited a week to hear that my lifetime warranty was denied by the warranty company due to a oil change and tire rotation documentation missing since obviously that caused the head gasket to blow. Dan Perkins claims its not their decision and was the warranty companies. So tough luck I'm out $2500.00.The head gasket for non turbo engines is a know problem for legacy cars from 2000-2009 and the tech said the replacement gasket has been updated to correct the problem. Had the problem related to one oil change and one tire rotation I would have accepted it and paid. If you type in 2009 [redacted] Legacy Head Gasket into google, what a surprise number one is the dreaded [redacted] head gasket issue followed by [redacted] Head Gaskets who should pay for failure. This is a known problem and Dan Perkins should stand by their warranty. Moral of the story if you buy a car keep every record and DO NOT buy any used [redacted] with the older EJ series non turbo motors, which are those vehicles are up to 2009 Legacy/Outback, 2010 for Forester, 2011 for Impreza. This will happen to youDesired Settlement: Fix the head gasket.

Subject: Re: You have a New Message from Revdex.com Serving Connecticut Regarding Complaint #[redacted]

The General manager has resolved the issue with the vehicle. Customer satisfaction indeed I'm happy with the resolution

Review: I was quoted $19,200 for trading in 2 cars. We agreed on price of new car. In agreeing to price of new car I naturally assumed the trade-in price of $19,200 was to be subtracted from the cost of the new car! Salesman said "because you are saving $1,200 on taxes on the new car because of the trades, we are now only giving you $18,000 as trade amount. I disagreed but was told this is the way the state works with trades-ins. After signing contract and accepting new car, I realized this was totally a sleaze tactic for them to profit from my ignorance of car buying. Returned to dealership-spoke to a lesser manager who told me he also disagreed with the legality of the reduction and to speak to the upper manager - spoke with main manager who said there was nothing they would do to remedy the situation. He felt what they had done was totally legal. I have sent manager[redacted] paperwork clearly underscoring the law that "FULL trade-in credit" is allowed when computing CT tax, etc. Even after multiple phone calls, I have not heard from this manager or dealership to correct this underhanded tactic to make more profit from unsuspecting senior citizens.Desired Settlement: A refund of the $1,200 difference that was subtracted from the original trade-in agreement.

Review: I went to Dan Perkins Subaru on July 5 to look at a used [redacted].I test drove it,and noticed an engine light was on.The salesman assured me it wasn't a big deal. "We run these cars on the lot out of gas all the time, and the engine lights come on",he told me.Since this was an almost new car,I believed him.So I went inside and signed the deal to buy it.Two days later I went to take delivery, and the light was still on.They never bothered to even check it.So we went to the service dept. and they scanned the code.I wasn't a gas cap issue after all.So they sent me home in a rental-which they paid for-but I had to leave a hefty deposit on my credit card.2 days later I get a call that the car needs a part which will take 10 days to arrive.By now I was livid.I called the General Mgr and told him my story.I asked to cancel the deal, but he told me I couldn't since the dealership already registered the car in my name. This should never have happened to me,and wouldn't have if someone there had bothered to scan the code prior to the sale.Everyone assumed the light wasn't a big deal but it was.Turns out it needed a new turbocharger which took 10 days to fix.I even received loan documents from my bank before I even got the car home. The dealership has basically ignored me since I signed the deal. They should have done the right thing by me,when it became apparent that this car hade a major issue.I bought the car in good faith. They made a big mistake by not checking out the code, therefore they should have let me out of the deal.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for some of the many fees I paid, like the $400 dealer conveyance fee,to compensate me for the almost two weeks of frustration, and inconvenience over this whole deal.Due to someone's negligence,I was sold a car that was unfit for sale

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I wish to disagree that I left as a satisfied customer. While they did refund some money to me-nobody ever apologized for what they did,or even acknowledged that they did the wrong thing, and treated me badly.I will never do business with them ever again, and nor will my family or friends.

Review: This past June I bought an used car from Dan Perking used card dealer in [redacted]

I drove the car approximate 5 miles an I noticed that there was a problem when I took the thruway. When the car past the 30 miles the transmission jumped and made a funny noise.

Next morning I called the sale person, Mr Mike N[redacted] and I explained to him the car problem and that I though that it was probably the transmission. .

He asked me if there was a notice in the car computer's window.

And there were none.

He said that if there was not a notice it was not the transmission

problem.

The noise and problem continue and I called back. His answer was the same. I then told him that I wanted to take it back to be check by their mechanic.

They told me to bring it the following week.

I did it, I left the car there for two days

Mike N[redacted] and the Used car manager name John advised me that their mechanic check the car, that he drove the car and that he didn't find any problem. They told me to take the car.

I drove home from [redacted] to [redacted] and the problem was mild but was still there.

I called them again and they insist that there was not a problem.

I didn't drive the car for two days. G

On July 5 I drove the car a few miles and in my way home I took the thruway. Over the sudden the car started to slow down, I immediately intend to pull the car to the side road and at that moment the car stop . A truck trailer that was behind me almost hit us and hit others car. At that moment I though we were going to be killed.

I finally managed to push the car, thanks God I was close to the exit.

I called them and they told me to bring the car.

I called [redacted] and left the car there.

This was a month ago,

The day I left the car there , Sunday, they told me that it was going to be ready by Wednesday, that they will called me. They didn't and on Thursday I called them again and they put me threw the voice message.

I tried all day with no luck.

I then went there with my wife.

Mike N[redacted] didn't want to talk to me, his supervisor did

He was very rude. When I asked for my car he answered with an attitude. He claimed that the car was still in the garage because it needed some pieces to adjust the transmission, that it was going to be ready the following week.

The week past by and I went to the Dealer because again they didn't call me.

The manager John talked to us again with an attitude and was very rude

I then told them to be honest and that I needed my car.

He started to talk in a very loud voice claiming that he had to spend over $ 2,000. dollars .fixing the car and so on.

We told them that if they didn't give us our car in a good condition we didn't want the car and wanted our money back.

At that moment he started to scream and told me that he was not going to do it, that he was not going to loose money

I advised him that I was going to report them to you, Revdex.com and his answered was that I was going to loose my time because they had the best lawyers in [redacted] and that the Revdex.com will never win a case.

Then when we were going to leave he said to me that he though that the problem was the car computer and that he was going to take the car to the [redacted] because they noticed the same problem again and that they were able to fix it I agreed and he said that it was going to be ready last week.

This time they called me and told me that again the car had the same problem. To go there to check it. I did , I drove the car and the car is worst.

I left the car there , they said that they were going to take it back to the [redacted] .

They didn't call me back , I left them a couple of messages and nothing. No answer.

I went to the Dealer today, they told me that John was not there, that he was in his way

I waited, he didn't come. I left and went back 2 hrs later and nothing

I think he didn't want to talk to me.

I lleft a message with another employee and told him to called me. and up to this moment he did not call

I want my money back, I paid them in full. I don' t want that car any more.

Please advised me and help me.

It took me years to save that money to by that car.

.Desired Settlement: I want the full reimbursement. I dont want that car any more b

Review: On May 25 2014, I bought a 2003 [redacted], that had a starter problem, with 30 days, they claim to have fixed the problem but did not. After they so called fixed the starter the fule pomp went and. I tried to trade but they wanted me to take some other garbage that they had for sale. And now something wrong with the engine [redacted] at selling cars. They took my down payment of 4500.00 and sold me a lemon. While the car was be so called fixed, they offered no loaner and always wanted to take the back when payment was falling behind. Payment fell behind because of the labor for that car.Desired Settlement: I would like to trade for the car that, I came to buy was a subaru, but they offered that car to and said that, that was all they could offer me because of my credit.

Review: I traded in my [redacted] for a [redacted]. When working with the sales representative I informed him that I wanted the limited with all the bells in whistles. He quoted me a price for the trade in and new purchase. Which I agreed on thinking this included all the bells in whistles. The transaction was completed yesterday, it wasn't until I got home that I realized that the new car didn't include the eyesight option I thought would be included. At this time the dealer was closed, and I contacedt my sales representative the following morning and advised him that the car didn't have the eyesight option I thought was included. He said we discussed this option not being included, this I don't recall. I then asked what [redacted] was going to do to make it up to me. He asked me what I wanted, I informed him I would be happy if [redacted] would consider installing an automatic starter all cost on [redacted]. He agreed to split it, and I wasn't happy, and asked that he consider absorbing the full cost. I am completely appalled at his response. He responded by saying at this point [redacted] is loosing money with me, and I could return the car and he would give me my car back.

I find this to be unacceptable and a poor way to handle an unhappy client.Desired Settlement: I would like [redacted] to offer a remote car starter all parts and labor cost on them.

We came to pick up the car the front dash board did notwork. It was filthy dirty.they had to keep the car send it out to be fixed it was weeks since we received it. I trusted in them this car was safe for I was buying for my daughter. It has not even 5 months after we started with these broblems. I payed $5,400 total with tax $6,167. Please help me..Desired Settlement: I would like a car that is safe for my Daughter a replacement car that is safe. She is a student at [redacted] and is commuting for her last year. Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: He [redacted] never said he would fix the head gaskets that is not true .. I told him I wanted a replacement this car is not safe to drive . Since the day I bought this car we have had broblems : came to pick it up and the dash board did not work, the car was filthy dirty it started to over heat 6 months after also burnt oil.. I brought it to my mechanic to see what the broblem was told by [redacted] this car was unsafe and should have never been sold . I made the mistake by trusting [redacted] and his company he knew how I felt about getting a safe car I told him it is for my daughter !! We have had nothing but broblems with it . Just 2 weeks ago we had to stay on the phone with my daughter because she was so afraid the car was rattling and shaking every time she went to stop ( she was heading to school at the time) we had to go up to pick her up . I also would like you to know when my husband and I went to bring the car back to Dan Perkins [redacted] tried to say we took the car to our mechanic before we bought it we did not he then confirmed we didn't.. I do not want the car fixed for the reason less than a year a blown head gasket and more I payed cash of $5,400 plus $700.00 on a trade in only 71,765miles should never have happened. I again state he never offered to fix the car his offer was to get us another car and give us around $2,500 for the car that is how we left it [redacted] said he need time to find a car . My husband felt it was not safe to drive the car home [redacted] agreed to leave it there..

Sincerely,

Review: I bought a car through dan perkins used Cars. I was over charged on the car, also purchased the car with a faulty frame. They knew there were issues with the car and sold it to me anyway. Not understanding all the paperwork, I am $9,000 upside down in this car. No way to get out of this car they won't let me out of my current terms and won't return phone calls to tell them what is wrong with the car and the deal that was made. I am very displeased again with the way I have been treated by this dealership, there is an alert and no longer accredited by Revdex.com. Which I find deplorable. This needs to be rectified immediately, I am incredibly unhappy, since I keep finding things wrong with this car.Desired Settlement: I am unsure what I want. To be out of this car would be a start.

Response:

We have contacted this customer and resolved the issue. The problem involved a car she had purchased a while ago, but had already traded it in.

The customer has agreed to contact you to close this issue.

Review: I purchased a used car from Dan Perkins Subaru under a loan agreement with [redacted] in September 2013. I paid my loan off in full on April 10th, 2014. I am due a refund on [redacted] prepaid. My husband hand delivered all paperwork to dealer on 04/12/14. My husband & I have tried on several occasions to talk with finance manager only to get put to his voicemail with no return calls. We even tried talking with our salesman [redacted], who assures us he will have finance manager call us. As of this date, no one has returned our calls, and we have not received refund due to us. We tried going right to [redacted], and were told they can only deal with the dealership. At a loss of what I should do next. We could really use the money due to us. Appreciate any help in this matter. Thank you!Desired Settlement: Would like refund due to us, retro to 04/10/12. With interest would be nice, but would be happy to get what is due to us. Would also like apology for no one attempting to call us back, and getting the run around when we do call. Common customer courtesy!

Review: The Sales person [redacted] failed to give me the car safety checked as promised by the Dan Perkins 100% Customer Satisfaction Gaurantee. I was left stranded with a dead battery the following day after taking the vehicle home. There are stains that were not removed from the inside door arm rests. The cruise control does not work. Airbags did not deploy when my car was hit in July 29th, 2014. The USB Drive is not working. Also, the vehicle was advertised to me as being made by [redacted] and the verbal payment agreement was to be $10500. Both things said to me were untrue, during signing I was led to believe I was purchasing/leasing the vehicle for $10500. in actuality I was charged $1100.00 more than verbal agreement. Please help.Desired Settlement: Airbags fixed, cruise control fixed, USB drive fixed, stains on arm rests removed, and hopefully get the amount that I was believed to buy it for worked out.

Business

Response:

We have tried to contact the customer but to no avail.

The vehicle is a [redacted] which is associated with [redacted] not [redacted].

We do not have a record of any complaint other than the battery issue that was resolved immediately.

As far as airbags deploying in an accident that depends on where the car was hit and the severity of the impact.

The price offered was as agreed.

Business

Response:

Hello [redacted],

We have tried to call you but have had no success.

We also have no record of any issues involving the cruise control or usb port or stains on the armrests since you purchased the vehicle on March 5th 2014.

[redacted] is a subsiduary of [redacted], not [redacted] and we have no record in the paperwork stating that we informed you that this vehicle is a [redacted].

As far as the sales price, all our records show that the vehicle was sold for the agreed to price of $11500.00.

Without knowledge of the dynamics of your accident there is no way to determine why the airbags did not deploy.

Please call me at [redacted] to discuss the issue further.

Your satisfaction is our prime concern

I am rejecting this response because: Here is my contact number ###-###-####. [redacted] informed me verbally because sales are done verbally. [redacted] spoke to me instead of [redacted] to close the deal via many phone calls until he said that the $10500. was fine. I believe that the conversations over the phone would be most important to get proof that the verbal agreement was $10500. Upon signing thats what was told to me.

Review: I was pressured by [redacted] (salesman) to buy a used car on the spot, as I was assured that certified pre-owned cars go through an extremely extensive 150 pt mechanical check to assure that the car is in good condition. I also explained to him that I was to be relocating to California and driving it across the country and was specifically trading in my 2005 [redacted] which had some problems so that I could get something more reliable. He assured me that this 2004 [redacted] with 104,000 miles would likely last to about 200,000 miles and that it would be in excellent condition after being inspected and rendered to its highest potential by the mechanical department at Subaru. After arriving in California, 7,000 miles later and getting 2 oil changes in that time, my check engine light went on, and after I brought it to a mechanic in the area, I was informed that the exhaust is extremely rusted and needs to be rebuilt, the wiring harness is melted to the oxygen sensor, and the down pipe is split. This was estimated to be about $1,500 - $2,200 worth of repair work, and not even 2 months after I bought the car. That was exactly what I intended to avoid when I traded in my [redacted] for the value of $5,200, and was assured I would avoid when I bought the car. Obviously, had I known this car needed $2,000 worth of work I could have just put that money into my [redacted] which was newer and had much better features. Or, I could have taken the [redacted] and it's $5,000 value elsewhere and gotten something more reliable, surely something that would have held up for longer than 2 months and 7,000 miles. Additionally, my family has had a long 20+ year relationship with Subaru, and I would never expect that a business would treat their customers with this negligence and disregard, especially not loyal customers of 20 years.

Additionally, I've spent almost a full month now, reaching out to Subaru via phone calls, and emails to try and get this resolved. Initially, the customer service representative I spoke with told me I needed to call back following the weekend to talk to [redacted], "the boss." Then after a couple of tries, and a message or two, I was finally able to get [redacted] on the phone. He asked me to send the photos from the mechanic in California to him to have a look, which I did. On the next phone call he said he needed to give the photos to his mechanical department to look at and he'd email me. Then I received an email from [redacted] asking to forward any receipt of repairs on the car to which I replied I hadn't had any repairs yet as I was waiting to try and resolve this issue with Subaru as $2,000 is not an expense I'm currently equipped to handle, nor do I think it's fair that this should come out of my pocket. I never received a response from her. So I emailed [redacted] once again, a long message explaining my frustration with Subaru, and formally requesting that I receive compensation for the damages on this car. He replied with one sentence saying that he referred me to the Sales manager, [redacted], who would call me. Instead, [redacted] emailed me, telling me to call him at his number. I immediately called that number, but was informed that he was out of his office at that moment, and they took a message from me, where I simply said this is [redacted], he requested I call, and here's my number to call back. I never received a call back from [redacted]. Then I forwarded the same email I sent to [redacted], to [redacted], cc'ing [redacted] as well, and once again expressing that no one was getting back to me and I wasn't getting any customer service and I'm just hoping to get this resolved after almost a month of trying to make productive contact. Again, I have not received any phone calls or emails from either [redacted], the [redacted], the sales manager, or [redacted], the representative from the service department who contacted me. Finally, I have resorted to the Revdex.com to help me get this issue taken care of.Desired Settlement: As I am now living in California, as I informed my sales person upon purchasing the car, I will not be able to bring the car in for complimentary service. Of course, I do believe they owe me compensation for these damages, so I'm requesting that I can either bring the car for complimentary service at a dealership or body shop of their choice in the Bay Area, California, or send me a check/money order/wire transfer for the total cost of the repairs after I bring it to a body shop. I expect not to pay money out of my pocket for these egregious damages and costly repairs that were obviously either present or on the brink of occurring when I bought this car for $7,000 not 60 days before my initial contact with [redacted].

Response:

Dan Perkins Subaru has called and emailed Mr [redacted] on numerous occasions requesting an estimate from his technician in California for the repairs necessary on his vehicle. We have yet to receive this.I spoke to Mr [redacted] again today who assured me that he would fax the information to me in about two to three days so that we can resolve this issue.Dan Perkins Subaru is committed to our customers satisfaction and we are sure that we can reach a satisfactory resolution.[redacted]

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Review: My wife and I purchased a new, [redacted]. The first scheduled maintenance, an oil change, was to be performed at 7,500 miles per the manufacture's spec and as reflected by the service reminder sticker affixed to the windshield. At just over 3,100 miles the check oil light came on. The vehicle was immediately driven to the dealership as we were in the area but headed out of state with an infant the following morning. The dealership stated that this was 'normal', the oil should be changed every 3,000, not 7,500 even though it takes synthetic 0-20w. The dealer's own warranty literature states 7,500. They changed the oil for no charge.According to the dealership the next scheduled maintenance was for 8,105 miles. At 7,793 mile on the odometer the light came on again. We drove it to the dealership immediately and requested that they perform an oil pressure test, check the pressure sensor(s). They said they would not until and oil consumption test was completed over the next 5-6 visits. They merely topped up the oil rather than perform the next service. It is my understanding that they have intentionally misrepresented the maintenance schedule, told us it was 'normal' for the check oil light to come on, even on a vehicle with less than 10,000 miles. They said the pressure senor on [redacted] was far more sensitive than other vehicles. When I ask why this was not the case for the half dozen or so other [redacted] driver's I know they assured me the sensor had been modified recently. They said it was because this was a manual transmission it would consume more oil. When asked they could not tell us the oil type or weight, despite having 'expert knowledge' regarding 'normal' oil light performance. After a call to [redacted] they were able to encourage the dealership to fit our oil change service in ASAP. Corporate promised to follow-up the following week. We received no call back.At 9,257 miles the light has come back on. Next service due per oil reminder sticker- 13,145.Desired Settlement: The only acceptable settlement is replacement. My wife and purchased this vehicle as reliable transportation for our infant son. We've taken time from work, rearranged vehicle's and schedules, and are put in the position of having to immediately return to the dealership, potentially harming the motor further, with the oil level down as to not invalidate the oil consumption test. The vehicle we traded-in with 150,000 miles would have been less complicated to own.

Response:

We have been in contact with [redacted] who have offered $1000.00 as assistance towards the purchase of a new car.

[redacted] has told us that the vehicle is operating within normal specifications.
