requested for my subscription. It is a mistake made by the company that has caused me extreme hardship. I emailed a copy of the company's email & my response to Revdex.com on August 27. I have not been able to confirm the funds have been deposited to my account. According to their Customer Retention Supervisor, this could take as long as 15 days. They have not responded to my request to change the remaining subscription from annual at $179.99 to a one time use of $119.99. I think this request is fair considering the difficulties their mistake has caused.

[redacted]
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/04/11) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I did not purchase a two year contract last year. I had a 1 year contract that expires on 5/10/14. That is why I renewed my subscription on 4/3/14 for 1 year. Last year is not an issue. The 2 charges put thru by Avast on 4/3/14 is the issue. They charged me $32.39 for, I thought, was a 1 year renewal (that I was later told was a new subscription) and $37.79 for a renewal. They sent me an email today offering me a 2 year contract. I said NO. I would like a total refund of $70.18. I want nothing to do with this company. They are requiring auto-renewals at expiration time and charging you unless you contact them and opt out.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 14, 2014/04/23) */
I'm very sorry but since you have a 2 year license purchased in 2013 and therefore it can not be refunded but we would like to help you in anyway with our technical support staff to get the avast! product running properly.
Please either send us an email where we can contact you for this or submit a support ticket.
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2014/04/17) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Avast says that I purchased Avast in 2013 for a 2 year contract. That is not correct. I purchased a 1 year license which expires on 5/15/14. That is why on 4/3/14 I attempted to renew that license so it would expire on 5/10/15. On 4/3 Avast charged me $32.39 and $37.79. I thought the first charge was my renewal but when they sent me the expiration date of 4/3/15 I called them and they told me it was a new subscription and they charged me $37.79 for renewal. They told me to file for a refund for $32.39. They did not tell me the amount of the second charge before they charged my card.
If AVAST intends to refund me $70.18 I will accept. However, that is unclear since they misstate the facts. If I had a 2 year license in 2013, I would not have attempted to renew it on 4/3/14. The inability to phone this company and to speak to someone to resolve an issue is not good for customers of this business.
Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/01/26) */

I appreciate that Avast refunded me the $19.95 fee for the Grimefighter antivirus program. However my pc has not worked properly since I downloaded their Grimefighter program. My pc won't connect to the Internet, and there is a strange noise that comes on for a min or two whenever I start the computer. Also, when after I start the computer it comes up with pop ups saying several different programs are disabled.
I want Avast to get my computer restored to how it was before I downloaded Grimefighter. I want a tech to call me, and if they can't fix it over the phone I want Avast to pay to have a service tech restore my computer.
Thank you,
[redacted]
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/05/14) */
Customer contacted us today as a reaction to our recommendation with system restore.
His reply was that he already did system restore immediately after using GrimeFighter.
In this case all actions done by GrimeFighter were completely reversed. GrimeFighter is a software product and cannot cause "strange noise".
We recommended to customer to use his antivirus and check his computer for possible threats and defragment his hdd.
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2015/05/18) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Avast says their Grimefighter program can't cause any problems with my pc, and I am wrong. I just Googled "Avast Grimefighter problems." There are several complaints on online forums from innocent consumers like me that downloaded Grimefighter, and now their pc won't work. This man posted a video and it got 6,000 views telling a terrible story about Grinefighter, and his story is exactly the same as mine! He downloaded Grimefighter and it "broke his computer" and he said "my internet doesn't work now. Here is the link to his video: https://m.youtube.com/[redacted]. I tried the things Avast has suggested: I ran the Windows restoration program, but Avast Grimefighter did something bad to my computer and it can't be fixed by a simple restoration program. Also the other programs Avast suggested won't run because my pc is so damaged by Grimefighter now, that the disk defragmentation program won't even work. I bet it would have worked before Avast Grimefighter broke my computer. Please put some pressure on Avast to pay for a technician to fix my computer to how it was prior to downloading Grimefighter.
Thank you,

Customer contacted us today as a reaction to our recommendation with system restore.
His reply was that he already did system restore immediately after using GrimeFighter.
In this case all actions done by GrimeFighter were completely reversed. GrimeFighter is a software product and cannot cause "strange noise".
We recommended to customer to use his antivirus and check his computer for possible threats and defragment his hdd.
