This is the second time I have had issues with Animoto. I only need to use their website once a year so I sign up for a 1 month membership. A one month membership is significantly more than what you are charged per month if you have a year subscription. The reason being it is only for one month and I completely understand that. It does not say that it will be auto renewed each month. Because this has happened to me before, I searched around and made sure I wasn't clicking auto renewal and I was simply signing up for a single payment. As I was looking over my credit card bill, I noticed I have been charged for 2 additional months ($32 total) and I have not used their product or even logged on to their website. I tried to e-mail them, but it says that I have been suspended. A couple years ago, this same thing happened. I told them I was disappointed that they were charging me for a product I had not signed up for and used and they blocked my account. When I e-mailed them this year to ask why I couldn't access my account, a customer service representative unblocked my account, but apparently only so I could pay them and use their product. I am still blocked from contacting them for customer service issues. This is unacceptable business practice to take someones money, charge them extra for a product they didn't use and specifically made sure they were only signing up for one month, but then deny them access to customer service.

The auto renewal information is always provided on the check out page before you purchase any subscription. We also send a confirmation email on the day of your first purchase with the subscription auto renewal information again. Lastly, we take each customer to their Account home page as soon as the first purchase is complete where the auto renewal information is at all times.

Your subscription is definitely cancelled now, so you won't be charged again. I've also issued you a refund for the two months of service that you were charged for. If you ever use Animoto in the future, you can turn off the auto renewal feature the same day you purchase a subscription and your account will just expire on the day it would have renewed. That way if you know for sure you don't want to renew, you do not have to wait to cancel.

I made a video for my 80 year old father using this company. My daughter and I spent the day making this memorable video. We had to sign up with the company (supposed to be a free trial), because all the photos had a mark on them unless we paid the $16 fee to have a perfect photo in the video. After the video was made, we went in and cancelled any subscription that we signed up for as we only wanted to make this one video. Lots of witnesses saw the cancelled on the website, I took a picture of this and then we were done.
Knowing the subscription was cancelled I never felt there was a problem. I pay my credit card on line, always dong a brief check of merchants on there, and never picked up that this company was continuously charging me $16 a month for 10 months. Just this January I was going over Christmas receipts and matching them to my credit card bill, I noticed a charge of $16 from Animoto! I at first had no idea who this was till I went back and saw that since April, they had been charging me $16 monthly. Tried to contact them by phone, no phone, only email. I wrote a review on them and they contacted me. After several exchanges and them verifying I had only used this site once, they can only refund 3 months!!!
I feel I was so taken advantage of and that they used my credit card without permission, as I had cancelled any subscriptions with them on the first day of use. In doing some research I saw many negative reviews stating that many had cancelled and yet their cards were still being charged. My credit card company is aware and with their help we are trying to stop charges. As this is all being presented to them, 2 days ago, they charged me again.
They need to be stopped.

This customer purchased a monthly subscription to create a video back in April 2017 with a total of three login sessions. After reviewing all of the customer’s past login sessions, there was no attempt to access the Account Page, where the auto-renewal can be terminated at any time during the subscription. We were able to provide screenshots and even offered screen recordings to let them know the auto-renewal was never terminated, which resulted in the monthly charges.
Our team was contacted by the customer in the middle of January 2018, and we offered the best resolution possible considering how old some of the charges were. We were able to refund the three most recent charges for the user (including the most recent charge mentioned), and offered them subscription credits for the months we were not able to refund due to our Terms and Conditions.
