Revdex.com spoke to [redacted] at business and the following was relayed: This matter has been resolved. The consumer has agreed and accepted $500 to resolve this, a check was sent with the [redacted].
That was the question my wife asked me when I found the [redacted] pickup truck at Action Automotive Service in Hudson, New York. For months, we had been searching for a small, four-wheel-drive, light duty pickup truck that would replace our farm truck we have owned for many years. We were specifically looking for a [redacted] Tacoma, because our friend and mechanic has owned several of them over the years and recommended the [redacted] for longevity and durability. We didn’t need a new truck, but wanted one at a reasonable price, in good condition. Most of the trucks I found online had extremely high mileage; in excess of 180,000 to 240,000 miles. The price ranges for these vehicles were way above what we wanted to pay, until I found the perfect tuck at the dealership in Hudson.
My wife and I own a small farm in central Pennsylvania, so the commitment to drive two hundred forty-plus miles to look at a used truck was considerable. This [redacted] had less than 100,000 miles on it which, for what we were looking for, fit our criterion for purchase. Action Automotive posted pictures online from every angle, showing the condition and detail of the pickup. It looked terrific. I called the number on the website and spoke to [redacted] Rapp, the owner of the dealership. I explained to [redacted] what we were looking for and inquired about his Tacoma. I immediately felt comfortable with his direct answers to my questions, in fact, he volunteered information about the truck that I had not asked. I had already run a Carfax search on the truck and studied its history. It was very clean. My concern was undercarriage rust because it had been on the Gulf coast of Florida for several years. [redacted] told me right up front he replaced the rear bumper because of rust, but other than that, it was a really good truck.
What I didn’t tell [redacted] on the phone was that my wife comes from a long line of car dealers. Her grandfather owned a dealership in Colorado and her father was a master salesman. The price for the truck was well below market value. When I told her about finding the [redacted] and my conversations with [redacted], the first thing she asked me was, “so, what’s wrong with it?” I told her I couldn’t find anything wrong with it from the photos, the research and discussions I had with [redacted]. I thought we should go look at it. She agreed, so, we drove the two hundred and forty-plus miles (through a major snow storm) to see this truck. It was a long trip.
[redacted] was expecting us and was completely prepared when we got there. He was very personable at made us feel right at home. His office was comfortable and asked if we wanted to take the truck for a test drive. Of course we did. He handed us the keys and off we went for a short test drive. The [redacted] performed just as [redacted] said it would. He said it was a good truck; it was a great truck!
We drove back to the lot after our test drive. I looked around at the other vehicles for sale to see what the inventory was like. Each one was in excellent condition and meticulously maintained. We purchased the truck right then and there. [redacted] took us to the Department Motor Vehicles to facilitate the title transfer. Nothing could have been easier.
The true test was the drive back home to Pennsylvania. I could not believe what a comfortable ride this little pickup offered. Our friend and mechanic gave the [redacted] a thorough assessment prior to having its State Inspection. He was very impressed with its overall condition and mechanical soundness. He told us we did very well with this purchase.
In this age if distrust and unscrupulous characters in our society, it is refreshing to find an honest business owner like [redacted] Rapp at Action Automotive Service in Hudson, New York. Purchasing a used vehicle can be a risky and stressful event. [redacted] made this experience enjoyable and gave us much more than we were looking which will last us for many years to come. Thank you, [redacted]!
I recently bought a car here as a first car for my daughter, and it was definitely a very pleasant experience for the both of us! Mr. R[redacted] was extremely professional in guiding us to make the right decision for such a big purchase. I would highly recommend going here to anyone looking for a quality used car.
Business provided Revdex.com with breakdown of charges. See attached.
The vehicle passed NYS Certification and passed a NYS Inspection as per NYS Motor Vehicle Regulations
I purchased my first vehicle from Action Auto of Fairview Ave in Hudson approximately 10 years ago. Because of that experience, I have purchased 3 additional vehicles .... upgrades for me and my wife and a truck from my son.
He charges a fair price but, it is the fact that he stands behind what he sells that has motivated me to write this review. The truck that I bought for my son had over 100,000 miles on it. After about a month, the truck's electric window stopped working. I called and brought the truck in. Something was run with a motor. Not only did the problem get fixed but I was not charged anything. They really want the customer happy and do anything to get repeat business.
Revdex.com spoke to business and the following was relayed: The consumer entered a contract, I got him approved through a a sub-prime lender. I have tried to contact him. There is no legal obligation to refund their deposit, on the office wall there is signage that clearly states that deposits are...
not refundable. Additionally, we lost out on other qualified buyers who were interested in the vehicle but we had contractually sold. However, in good faith I am willing to offer the consumer half of his original deposit, or $350, in an effort to resolve this. If the consumer agrees, I will take care of right away.
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.
Attached is the USPS history of the certified letter that I sent to the business. Please note 2/11 which notes that the letter was refused. In addition, a notice was left 2/4, so 7 days passed after the business was notified of the letter to when it was refused.
Attached are my phone records covering the period from the last time [redacted] and I spoke on the phone to when I received a response from [redacted] via the Revdex.com. I never received a call or message from the technician or [redacted] as claimed.
I have made more than enough attempts to resolve this issue:
1) 10/28/2014 - Called and discussed after the first overheating incident. Agreed to see if it was just air in the cooling system creating an air lock.
2) 12/12/2014 - Called and discussed with [redacted] and agreed to see if replacing the radiator cap would fix the issue.
3) 1/17/2014 - Brought the car to [redacted] and had a failed repair attempt (installed a radiator, which was not the problem after I specifically requested that any and all diagnostic tests be conducted to ensure the problem would be addressed).
4) 1/30/2015 - Called and talked to [redacted] and was hung up on.
5) 1/30/2015 - Sent a Revdex.com complaint which took 11 days to receive a response.
6) 2/2/2015 - Sent a certified letter which was refused.
I could not wait longer to get a response from [redacted] as I needed a reliable vehicle for transportation and it was recommended by a [redacted] dealer to discontinue driving it until repaired.
This vehicle was represented to me at the time of sale as having a head gasket replacement which was a major selling point for me. This repair was done incorrectly by the business, resulting in my expenditure of $1494.09 after the above attempts failed at resolving the issue.
I will accept $1494.09 dollars to resolve this matter and close this complaint amicably. If I do no not hear from the business by 3/10/2015 I will be seeking compensation through small claims court and this complaint will remain open.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
Revdex.com spoke to [redacted] and [redacted] at the business and the following was relayed: We have offered in good faith $500 towards the customer's bill and we maintain that offer. If the torque bolts were on wrong they would have come off before the customer was able to put 7,000 miles on it. We never saw the car overheating. She put 7,000 miles on it, there are many possibilities as to what could have caused it.
Revdex.com spoke to [redacted] at the business and the following was relayed: The consumer is out of warranty. She called about a month owning car. I told her to bring it back here and she decided to bring it somewhere else. The overheating issues are inconsistent and have not been exhibited when with us....
The consumer recently resurfaced and I put a new radiator and thermostat, a $500 repair that was done in good faith and I was not responsible for. The customer has put 8,000 miles on the car and is still driving it. The consumer needs to contact [redacted]. He is a certified mechanic and was the mechanic originally on the car. He can be reached at ###-###-####. If there is something wrong with the vehicle we will make it right. She is going to have to leave the car for a long enough period of time for us to have the problem exhibited.
