Unable/not allowed to use equipment.
I got up and drove to your Austin Peay Highway location. I entered the business and walked over to use a piece of equipment. I noticed a cell phone on the equipment. I notified your employee. I was told that, "I think she is still using the equipment. That person who your employee was referring too was utilizing another piece of equipment in the gym. I was never informed nor could I locate in my contract that we can stake claim to multiple pieces of equipment. (So that other customers are prohibited from using them). I
I paid for a service. You will not allow me to use equipment that nobody is using/occupying. I want a full refund. OR, you could just put in writing that we are allowed to lock down equipment (stake claim) to equipment. This would allow me to secure and lock down equipment for future use..nevermind you do that already. Full refund requested.

We absolutely want everyone to have a great work out when they come by our gym. I was the employee that was here that day, we do not let anyone stake claim to equipment, I observed that young lady super setting between machine and treadmill its a form of work out called High Interval training. If you ever have any situation come about that seems irregular please let us know and we will explain and or correct.

I will do my best to avoid any parts of the complex where it is crowded. That way I can hopefully avoid wanting to use a machine that someone else is planning to use.

I was rashly and indiscreetly told to leave the gym I felt embarrassed, intimidated, disrespected and threatened.
I had a very rude encounter at French Riviera Fitness at Poplar Plaza. On February 6, 2019 at about 11 am, when my name was yelled aloud in front other members in the gym, by a short ,*** employee with a low shaven beard. The associate proceeded to tell me that my account is in the red for a unprocessed payment. This was a surprise to me as I am signed up for automatic payments. The associate proceeded to tell me that the payment of $29.99 was due on 2/04/2019 and I need to pay now or I needed to leave the gym. This appalled me as I have been a loyal member of French Riviera for several years and have never had a payment issue.
This payment issue was a simple oversight as I had switched banks and because I'm used to having automatic payments I did not remember to update payment information. There was no problem in me updating my bank information, but I did not have my card info on me at the time as I was prepared to exercise. But instead of allowing me to complete my workout and update the payment info after in private, I was rashly and indiscreetly told to leave and do it now. I felt embarrassed, intimidated, disrespected and threatened. On top of this experience after talking with the customer service representative for corporate office, *** at 3 pm on 2/07/19, I was basically told that "what the gym employee did was fine and if your payment is late it's late and there's nothing we can do about it." French Riviera said they will not allow me to cancel my membership, without a 30 day notice, and dissolve the $29.99 payment. I should not have to pay for another month of membership if I do want to continue using the facility.
I would like my membership cancelled with no money owing.

Signed Personal Trainer contract. PT canceled on me 15x out of 2 months after paying monthly for a service I am not getting.
I had been working out at FR for about 2 years and decided to hire a Personal Trainer named Chris. Chris told me it would take 7 months to reach my goals if I committed 2x a week sessions and eating. Out of the first 2 months, Chris has canceled on me 15x. Majority of cancellations have been within 1 hour of session times. After saying that I am not getting what I am paying for, and him saying he can no longer train me in the mornings (after I already moved my schedule around) any longer, another trainer would be contacting me within the next 24 hours. I refuse to work with another trainer at FR because I have noticed how the other trainers interact with their clients and I HATE it. The trainer Chris wanted to hand me off to, Terrance, was a trainer that Chris got into an altercation with just a week prior- that altercation being Chris was unable to train the client and Asked Terrance if he could fill in, Terrance said yes and then when the client showed up, Terrance said he was not about to train him to the clients face. After I told Chris that he is basically forcing me to train with someone else I asked him to cancel the remaining months of my contract. Chris proceeded to tell me that as long as there is a trainer available, then I would be charged. Also told me that he could have charged me for a session that I was not able to attend due to being sick and canceled on him less than 24 hour notice. I had and still am paying a good bit of money for a service that I was barely getting!!! How is that even fair? And I signed a contract with Chris not with another trainer. Not to mention, when walking in to the gym the trainers and/or employees are watching *** in their office or doing school work online and not walking around the gym or cleaning. To say the least, I am spending a fortune on something that should be bettering my health and getting me in shape, but here I am draining my hard earned money on a service that I AM NOT GETTING and that I wasn't even getting with CHRIS! Yes, he did ask to reschedule the missed sessions, and then upon rescheduling, he asked to reschedule again or I was unavailable.
I would like to end my contract immediately and not be charged $320.00 Monthly until the contract expires in November. I would also like to get refunded for the months of July and August as I have not met with Chris or another trainer in the month of August and only met twice in the month of July.

Afrer several cancellations and hundreds of dollars in cancellation fees paid, the company contimues to charge our credit card.
My Son was in college in Memphis. While there, he joined this gym. He left over 12 months ago and now lives over 200 miles away. We have cancelled his membership 4 times and paid hundreds of dollars in cancellation fees. They continues to bill ouer credit card. No amount seems to be enough for them.
Stop invoicing us and refund past fees charged after the membership was cancelled.

French Riviera Spa makes it easy to join and very difficult to cancel. You can sign up at the location but to cancel you have a four or five step process to cancel that includes getting the phone number from the local gym (they don't answer their phone so we had to go in person), calling and going through all the options, navigating the extension, listening to a new sales pitch, paying out the final month (insult to injury), then being told to send an email to cancel. It is obvious organizations like this make that money off of people failing to cancel their memberships, what a scam.
