I contact this company to closed my contract due to the covid-19 pandemic
because my health is high risk I am unable to attend the gym due.
I was told I had to put in writing that I wanted to end my contract. I asked questions about why I was charged an extra 20 dollars for gym fee even though the gym was closed due to the virus. I am not able to put my health at risk. I recently was laid off due to this pandemic and have no insurance or income to go to a doctor to get them write a letter about my condition. I fell the request is very insensitive especially during a pandemic people should not have to choose between workout and their well being. I am very disappointed in the customer service I received about this matter would like my contract to end and the fees late fees to be waved due to the gym being closed down during the pandemic a few months.
I would like my contract to end and not to be charged any late fee and not to be charged for the time during pandemic and when the gym was closed
I reviewed the notes for member number ***, she said she was advised not to go into public places because of her risk factor customer was advised per contract needed a medical note from md, we understand her position and will allow an email from MD explaining her situation. See email below.
Can not cancel membership and stop automatic payments coming from my account.
I was given *** to cancel the membership and stop payments. I have been trying for at least six months and still have not spoken to a person to handle this issue.
I would like to stop the automatic drafts from my account and a refund of charges since the renaming of that location.
Looking at the notes on the membership, there is no record of *** contacting the gym or *** the billing company for the gym membership, prior to 7/10/2020. At that time, she left a voice mail message and she was called by *** on 7/13/2020. The records show that her identity was verified and the member "decided to leave the account active and does not need any assistance at this time". *** will honor the date of 7/10/2020 as the 30 day notice to cancel and the membership will be cancelled on 8/10/2020 without further payment or cancellation fee. There is no refund to be issued.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I first contacted *** on February 25, 2020 after going to the location that was once French Riviera but now listed as*** and spoke to the manager. I asked him how to cancel the membership and stop payments. He gave me the telephone number listed in my complaint. I called numerous times over several months never able to speak with a representative until after I filed a Revdex.com complaint. Since then a representative contacted me. I will contact them again.
The poplar plaza closed in May 2019. they have debited my account $19.98 per month. Still have to pay fees during lockdown mounts march, april, may
The company never called any customers to let us know that the business was closed at***. Secondly, due to the pandemic we have not been able to use the gym since march, but the company continued to charge 19.98 for April and May when the city was on lockdown. I should not have to pay for something I can't use. I call to cancel since my location is closed and they told me I would have to pay for June as well. I had to pay $46 dollars when the entire city was on lockdown. All gyms were closed. Paying for June should not be required and I should get my money back for the months the city was on lockdown
I would like a refund of my payment for march, April, and may since gyms just opened back up in Memphis and my location was closed. I want cancellation of my account and not to be charged for June. ID account number
I called twice and reported that I was billed $15.00 a month
Some months was $30.00
They are still charging my credit card.

I want a refund of $360.00 On some months they charged me $30.00. If you need the exact month of the $30.00 I will have to go to my statement. Thank you
I am still paying for a contract that was suppose to cancel out almost a year ago.
I purchased a contract back in April of 2018 at the price rate of $19.98 a month. I am still been charged $19.98 a month for a contract that was suppose to been cancelled. I need my money restored.
I will like a refund from April of 2018 until this current time.
I don't know why you charged me $70 this month.. I am only supposed to be paying $40 a month for 2 memberships.
Noone will help
They are charging more than the contract says
I need a refund for the extra $30 you took
Hello ***, per our contracts we have a maintenance fee that is 30 per year per member that is billed 2 times a year 15 in January and 15 again in July. Your payments will be 40.98 again next month and will see the extra 30 again this comming July.
the spa in the poplar plaza closed in may of 2019. they have continued to debit my account $19.98 per month.
$19.98 has been debited from my*** checking account since may of 2019. the french riviera spa was located in the poplar plaza.

The gym location we were using closed without any notification. Our membership was transferred to another location without our knowledge.
My husband and I were members at the Poplar Plaza French Riviera Spa. In May, the location closed without notifying us. Our membership was transferred to another location on Austin Peay. We were also not notified of our membership being transferred. I contacted the company on multiple occasions. I was able to cancel my membership finally in July, but have requested a refund from May to July. Their refund policy states each matter is considered individually. I have been told because I had access to another location that I cannot be refunded. Had we been notified of the changes, we would have canceled our membership at the time of closure because the other location available is not convenient to myself nor my husband. I have attempted to get a refund since July 19th with no success.
I would like a refund of $71.96
French Riviera has charged me for 5 months of membership when I have attempted to cancel my membership multiple times.
French Riveria closed their Poplar location. I was told that if I transferred to the***, my contract would be cancelled. I joined the *** in June 2019. French Riviera has continued to charge me. I have been on the phone with their billing company and they have assured me that once I send an email with the details, my membership will be cancelled. *** has also sent an email on my behalf confirming that I joined their gym. I AM STILL BEING CHARGED.
I am seeking to be refunded the 5 months that I have been falsely charged and my membership to be cancelled immediately.
Per notes of billing dept. number*** 10/23/19, *** has been issued a refund and membership has been canceled.
Being charged for something that does not exists.
Why am I forced to pay for a membership to a gym that is closed. I only went to the gym 2 days when it was open. I was not informed that I was paying for a contract.
If I dont get a refund. I at least like to cancel my membership without any contract fees. I should be lifted of this burden
enrolled on 3/09/2019 for the one year all access membership option, it will expire on March 9th of 2020. Per contract *** section 1. the Poplar Plaza location has provided alternative location within 15 miles. The address on membership*** is located 6.5 miles from the Austin Peay location (3634 Austin Peay Hyw memphis tn 38128). If the address has changed and member is outside of 15 mile range, *** can contact the billing company @ 1-800-748-4949 and provide documentation of address change and request cancellation.
Your company has been fraudulently taking money out of a account for a membership I cancelled 2 years ago
On or around October 17th 2017 at approximately 3:30 pm I enter the gym on poplar and highland to cancel my membership with French Riviera Spa. I spoke with associate J Randall who informed me that my membership#*** would be cancelled. To my knowledge it was done at this time per Mr. R validation. Unfortunately I have been charged since this date for 25 dollars a month which equals to the sum I'm requesting to be fully refunded. I have made attempts through email and also called the French rivera who ignores my correspondance.
FULL REFUND OF MONEY STOLEN
I see where*** spoke to billing dept. on Aug 5th 2019, and Sept 4th 2019, on both occasions the billing rep. explained the proper procedures of cancelling membership ( emailing documentation of request to the billing dept). Via contract the club can only cancel membership within 3 business day upon joining. If member meets cancellation policy after 3 business days they have to do so through billing company.*** signed up at the WhiteHaven Location Member number is*** If he would like to update me about any additional info he can do so via email.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I don't accept this response because the company totally ignored the fact that the contract I signed was a only for one year? The location I signed up with no longer operates a French Rivera. Therefore when there location moved and changed it's name I went to the Poplar location and did the proper procedure to close out the contract. I would like a copy of the original contract that I signed as proof of their deception. My account took another hit this month of September for 35 dollars. How can you keep automatically renewing a contract when the customer is saying please stop stealing my money I haven't attended your gym in 2 years. I will not stop until I get my money back that they are currently stealing in front of my eyes and the Revdex.com.
French Riviera Poplar Plaza location closed without any notice to patrons. My contract ended this month but they claim I owe them through April 2020.
After months of calling the Austen Peay location and asking to speak with the manager, never being able to reach him or being called back, and being given incorrect emails multiple times by both Paramount Acceptance and gym employees, I have no choice but to report this issue to the Revdex.com. I want out of this so called "contract" immediately.
They closed the Poplar Plaza location without any notice to patrons, then simply slapped a note on the door and claimed to have set up alternative options. I'm completely confused as to how a gym located extremely inconveniently from my house (Austen Peay) or a gym that costs DOUBLE*** could even be considered an appropriate alternative. Then to be told I couldn't cancel my membership unless I went to the gym X amount of times is absurd. It doesn't take multiple trips to a gym to know that I don't want to keep a membership that forces me to pay double the amount of my original contract with a totally different gym.
My contact should have ended this month; however, as another part of this complete and total scam, they are stating that my contract goes through April 2020. This is because they told me in April 2019 that my boyfriend could be added to my EXISTING account/contract without extending any sort of date or timeline. Now they are claiming that is not that the case. Any document that states otherwise has clearly been tampered with for their company's financial benefit.
Hopefully you will be able to get some action in regards to canceling my membersbip because I haven't even been able speak to anyone regarding the matter without being given false information or promised a call return without any sort of attempt at contacting me.I cannot believe how poorly we have been treated by this company, or how unprofessionally they allow managers to run their business.
I believe our contact should be terminated immediately, and any fees we have paid since their abrupt closing should be refunded.
I am seeking immediate termination of my contract, as well as a refund of any and all fees collected since the Poplar Plaza location closed.
Per State regulated contract*** the health club must provide a alternative location within a 15 mile radius if it ceases operation. They have done that with the 3634 Austin Peay Hyw Location.*** address at*** is 7.5 miles away from the alternative location. She also entered into another contract at a discounted rate when she added her boyfriend to the gym in April of 2019. With the circumstances and Poplar Plaza's 20 years in the center, on good faith have decided to cancel*** with no further Dues.
This complaint is a result of my contract being signed fraudulent and being charged a $25 cancellation fee since my contract is expiring.
In late June 2018, I spoke with a staff member at French Riviera (Poplar Plaza) regarding an option to paying a $10 fee per class. I expressed to him that I didn't want to be under a contract but I was interested in saving money by not having to pay for each individual class. He informed me that I could pay $15 monthly to avoid paying per class. I informed him that I didn't want to put my credit card on file and was told I wouldn't have to give my card information. I paid the 1st $15 to him and was given a receipt. Soon, I received an email from French Riviera with a contract membership for $249.75. I didn't read the contract in its entirety (my fault). I contacted the Manger of the facility and expressed my concern with being under a contract and the conversation I had with the staff member. He asked me to contact the guy since he was working at the Austin Peay location. I decided to not call him since I was using the membership and really didn't want to cause him any trouble. Next, I contacted *** in May 2019 to make sure this contract would not be automatically renewed. I was informed to call back in July 2019 to provide them notification of my decision to non-renew. On July 26, 2019,I contacted *** and was informed by a Rep and then Manager Eric that I was subject to a $25 cancellation fee even though I was paying out my contract in its entirety since it expires in August 2019. Eric informed me that this is a French Riviera policy and they are a 3rd party. this However, I went ahead and I was informed by a representative and also Eric (Manager) at Paramount that I would incur a $25 cancellation fee. Since, I'm not cancelling my membership and only providing notification that I do not want to auto-renew, this is ridiculous. Also, my membership contract was completed by someone at the Poplar Plaza location with a signature and initials that I did not write and an emergency contact person that I don't know. This is just another instance of their fraudulent and illegal practices.
I'm seeking the $25 cancellation fee to be waived. I will make my last payment on this contract and be resolved of this contract.
Membership *** was cancelled with out cancellation fee or last payment 8/12/2019.
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I accept the company's resolution to waive the $25 cancellation fee. I contacted *** to ensure that no balance or fees remain.
Trainer Quit. Gym Closed. Yet they still want my money.
I signed up for a gym membership and a personal training contract this past winter. Now the location at which I signed the contract has closed its doors and cancelled all forms of communication (i.e. email).
My trainer quit the gym at the same time they announced they were closing the doors to that location.
But they will only cancel your membership if I live a certain distance from new gym location or visit a certain number of times. That gym isn't convenient to either my work or home location. Plus I didn't sign a contract with that location so I shouldn't be held that to location to fulfil any contractual obligation.
Since the gym has closed I have paid out the remainder of my personal training contract plus gym membership fee PLUS Gym Improvement fee with is ironic since the gym is closed.
I've tried emailing the poplar and the Austin Peay location but every email goes unanswered to or just flat out fails to send. I'm hearing all these horror stories going around Memphis of this company's horrible customer service and shady business practices. The amount of money I've paid out since they closed is ridiculous and the blatant lack of care by the employees that I have spoken with is appalling.
I feel I should be refunded any payments taken post gym closure. The contract I signed was with a specific location and my distance from the secondary location should not matter when they couldn't uphold their end of the contract by staying open.
Hello***, per State regulation on our contracts we must provide you with an alternative location within 15 miles if club closes. The Alternate location is at 3634 Austin Peay Hyw Memphis Tn 38128. If you are outside of the radius you can email*** for details on cancellation process.
I've tried emailing this address back in June with zero response. I've tried emailing the Austin Pray Location and that failed. Also is it 15 miles from previous club or my home address?
I have emailed the address listed above again. We will see how this time is handled.
your membership has been canceled without any fees due, feel free to contact me
The issue is with the closure of the location at 3464 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38111 in Mid-May. I was not informed via email or phone that the location was closing and only received word 3 days before the closure that all memberships were being transferred to the *** location. I contact the gym's third- party vendor that handles their accounts *** to cancel my membership. I had assumed that the membership amount would be prorated but it was not.
I do not have the means to drive to the *** location which is a 16min drive and I also did not sign up for a membership at that location.
I am just frustrated that I was not informed of the closure a month before so that I could be sure that I was caught up with the payments. Now they want me to pay a return fee plus a full membership for the month of May even though the gym closed on May 10th.

Billing Adjustment I want acknowledgment that giving their members little notification of the closure was poor business practice, waiver of the return fee and billing adjustment for the prorated amount of the May membership.

French Riviera Spa sold me two 18-month memberships to use a gym in Memphis, Tennessee, with my partner. They claimed that both of us would have access to the gym, classes, tanning, and hydrospa for 18 months for only $299, which was a similar offer to what we had purchased from them several times before. After 1 month, they announced that they were closing. At the time that they sold me this membership, they knew that they were closing because they could not afford rent in the space that they were using. I did a charge back on my *** after they closed because there are no other French Riviera gyms in my city and French Riviera had no intent of fulfilling the 18-month contract with me. After I disputed the charge through my credit card company,*** contacted me via text message to claim that I owed them money for these undelivered services.*** knows that the gym is closed. They know that there are no other gyms in my city. The customer service agent I spoke with was aware of the situation but claimed that I need to pay for a membership with a gym that doesn't exist or that I could travel to a different city in Tennessee, where I do not live or work, to use the gym.

Shady Billing Practice - Company closes Poplar Location without notice.
Company closes Poplar Notification without notice then forcing members to a location across town. Refused to cancel membership even when member on month to month and no longer under any contract. How is a company allowed to fraudulently draft checking account or credit card when a member has asked to cancel. Sent certified letter requesting cancellation this company still charging my card. Also from previous complaints if you notify your bank to stop the bank draft the company will send you to a collection agency. I want out. I am no longer under contract and no authorize this company to debit 15.00 out of my bank account.

renewing memberships, then closing down.
They will renew your membership or signup new knowing that the business is shutting down a week later. They off cash incentives and then pocket the money and shut the doors.
This is the second time they have done this that I am aware of. Sam and Mary S might be con artists.
they should have to refund anyone who renewed or joined recently. They should have to pay off the remaining balance time on current memberships.

That location is 14.5 miles from my work, which is where I come from during the week. That does not negate the repeated bad business practice of closing gyms and making people scramble for alternatives with a couple days notice. They did the exact same thing in Cordova. You'd think they would know how to run a business by now. Obviously not.
