Zone Athletic Club

In March of 2020 The Zone Athletic Club Closed due to COVID-19. At that time I tried contacting the club to close my membership which was charging 60 per month. There was no answer at the business and, no return phone calls. Recently the club re-opened and I was able to talk to a manager to close my membership, in the meantime I was charged a 150 "Maintenance" fee, along with the 60 per month. I requested the maintenance fee be refunded, and he told me they do not re-fund maintenance fees. This is my complaint, If I had been able to cancel my membership back in March I would not be out $500 for the last 5 months and a 150 maintenance fee. I feel any business in good standing would refund that amount.

Just wanted to send a warning to anyone that is a member at Zone Athletic Clubs (formerly Tru Fit). I followed the guidelines for placing my membership on hold and sent an email as requested stating I wanted my membership frozen until I decided it was safe to return. They said I could freeze up to 6 months for $0 no problem. Well surprise, they froze it for May and then started charging me again in June. I went in to speak with *** to ask why I was being charged when my account was frozen and he refused to refund me even though I have provided him with the proof of requesting my account be frozen. When I said I would just cancel bc I didn’t want to do business with a company that is this unethical he refused to cancel my membership until I paid for July bc I didn’t give 30 days notice. He has not returned any of my calls and I was forced to call my credit card company and have them block Zone from being able to make any charges and dispute the April and June charges they wrongfully charged. I know it is a hard time for these businesses and I tried to just freeze my membership until it was safe to return but they proved to be so unethical I was forced to take my business elsewhere. Just watch if you think you froze your membership or cancelled bc they are still charging.
