Anti virus security scam

On 11/20/19, I purchased a 3 year Kaspersky Swcurity package by phone from Globo buy. The cost was 169.99 and was billed to my Visa card. Their phone number is XXX-XXX-XXXX. I just phoned them this morning and a man answered and when I mentioned that Kaspersky had just told me that they had never heard for them, his voice became garbled and he said he would have tech call me .
The order number was GloboXXXXXXX.
My visa number had been stolen this year and I had to change the card, so I know they cant use my card again.

Desired Outcome

For public knowledge.

I was notified by e-mail my McAfee Antivirus program from expiring. I had purchased a new computer in 11/2018 and McAfee program was free for a certain period of time. I thought I was extending the McAfee program and working directly thru McAfee. I was told Knitric Infotech represents McAfee and could offer me a promotion for 3 years including (computer support system). The price for 3 year protection (McAfee Total Protection)cost was $278.85. I asked if they could help me with a problem I was having with my printer (scanner). Since this price included "computer support" I asked for their help. They agreed to provide the support. I was told I needed to sent them a check in the mail. They didn't accept CC/ Debit. I would NOT forward a personal check but would purchase personal money order. They e-mailed me the the company's name and address where to send the check. They also sent what was included in the product purchase "McAfee Purchase 2587" and what was entitled.....a list of 19 items of protection. The purchased date was 3/12/19 and I mailed personal money order 3/14/19. They cashed the check on 3/18/19. Days later I ran a scan and noticed a lot of "risky" business in the report starting from the date of purchase thru 3/20/19 when I contacted their support dept. and there was no answer. I tried the original number that I called when I purchased the product and it was disconnected. At that point I became worried....I looked of the company on the internet and read all these complaints regarding the same issues I was having. I tried to place stop payment on check....cashed already I placed a complaint thru bank's fraud dept. Southington CT Police Dept (obtained Police report on 3/23/19...bank required it. I called company during the day and requested a full REFUND. I didn't feel I could trust this company and wanted to cancel my purchase. I requested a refund and they have been giving me a run around..different story every day.I am requesting a FULL REFUND $278.85

Desired Outcome

Refund I am looking for full refund of the purchase. The company canceled my purchase....subscription terminated from my computer and told me they would provide a refund less a fee for the support help on the printer $99. This purchase include computer support. There should be NO deductions from my REFUND. I have spoken to several people from their "support line" 866-634-9138 ...Andrew, John, Eric and each time I get a different story. I was told I will receive refund in 5 days, now it's 15 days.

I got a message on my computer supposedly from McAfee anti-virus that it was time for renewal. I clicked the link and ordered what I thought was 1 yr subscription to McAfee LiveSafe for $82.99. I never received a download link. I called the number provided and I am speaking with someone from India. The Indian guy took over my computer to "fix" things. I am told the wrong product was purchased and it was not compatible with my computer. They WOULD refund me the $82.99 but encouraged me to buy the "right" McAfee product 3 yr subscription for $218.98. BUT he didnt want my credit card this time- he wanted me to write a check to Knitric InfoTech LLC- PO Box 48510, Athens GA 30604. I was told to write the check to the Knitric company and put McAfee in the memo line. I asked why a check? I was told it was too "risky" to do this via the charge card at this point. I then got on my other computer to investigate Knitric InfoTech LLC. It is a scam company who is impersonating McAfee. The charge goes on my statement as McAfee but it is not the real company. Trying to explain to my credit card company difficult because they think its the real McAfee also. Got in touch with the Indian company today via conference call with my credit card fraud dept.. Indian guy agreed to refund my money and take off any recurring charges. when I got the confirmation email from the scammers, it just states my "information has been updated". When I click the link the email provided to "see" the changes, I am now on the REAL McAfee site and they tell me I never bought a product from them. The paperwork I was able to print out when I thought I was buying from the real McAfee, clearly has McAfee letter head but product description is Staples Virus Shield.
Product_Or_Service: McAfee LiveSafe but this is bogus
Order_Number: CSXXXXXXXXXX

Desired Outcome

Refund I want my money back, I want any recurring charges stopped immediately. The fraud dept of Aadvantage Master card told me they had already submitted "recurring" charge for this purchase yet they NEVER told me that and I NEVER would agree to a recurring chg. and I want this company shut down! This is a fraudulent company who impersonates, in this case, McAfee.

I was trying to renew my fathers internet security, I paid online for it but never got an email from them. I googled the number for Bitdefender and there number came up. I called the number and this guy pretended like he looked for my fathers account and said it hadn't been paid. He said I needed to mail him a check and he would download the protection onto the computer for me. I had so many red flags going off. For starters, when he answered the phone he only said "hello" no business name, nothing. I knew that was off. I questioned him about it and he said he works for multiple internet protection agencies. I kept going until we got towards the end and he wanted us to mail him a check. I told him if I wanted to continue with his services I would call him back at the number he provided. He got SUPER pushy with me and kept questioning me. He said way too many things that just made me feel uneasy. He kept talking over me and would not listen to me at all. He was angry that I knew he was a fake and I was not going to give into him and give him my fathers money.

Other (requires explanation) I feel everyone needs to know about this company. They are a scam!! They need to be shut down and arrested!! They are scamming a lot of people out of a lot of money!!

e I had been receiving pop-up notices (allegedly) from Mcaffee stating my subscription was going to expire on 9/5/2018 but when I checked my subscription it showed it was good until 2/19/2019. When I received my last notice on 9/5/2018 I decided to call. I went into my search engine and put McAffee Customer Service and there were 4 listings. I called X-XXX-XXX-XXXX and spoke to an operator names ***. I told him my situation and he saw the same expiration date. But then said "You have no service. It has stopped probably due to issues with your computer." He then asked and got my permission to do a diagnositic survey. He then showed me that I had 4 areas of concern and with each area he gave me a price for repair with a total of $241.38, This bill was shown to me on my computer screen. I thought that was too much and told him. He came back and said. "Then we will give you 3 yr Total Protection for FREE." He repeated that. That was the bait and I took it. So I agreed to the repairs. He then sent me to a technician named ***. His phone number X-XXX-XXX-XXXX. After *** was done he gave me the address to send my check.Address Knitric Infotech LLC McAffee, 383 Chalfont Dr.,Athens GA XXXXX and he stated it must be sent same day. Later on I received an invoice from Globobuy, a company I had never heard of, with the amount of $241 for a 3yr subscription for McAffee Total Protection. By their error they had left a shortcut to their diagnostic device on my desktop. When I opened and ran it I found nothing had been corrected. I filed a complaint with NM Office Attorney General and received a email reply from them telling me to file a complaint with FBI. On 9/6/2018 I called X-XXX-XXX-XXXX hoping to speak to a supervisor but I got *** instead. I told him I received a bill for the software but not for the repairs and told him the repair work was never done. He completely denied everything - that he never gave me an estimate for the repair work and insisted work had been completed. *** was involved again.
Product_Or_Service: computer repair
Account_Number: GLOBOXXXXXXX

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment Since this incident, I found a number of places where this business"s phone number is listed as a scam. Since I was lead to believe that I was being billed for the repairs only and the work appears not to be completed I should only be billed for the 3 yr McAffee Total Protection software. The product I found listed with Globobuy is $99. I will be willing to pay for that only. I have no confidence in the people I had to deal with and they should be reprimanded by their prospective companies.

Thinking I was contacting a McAfee help line, from a web advertisement for McAfee help, I found I was connected to Knitric. I was having trouble downloading an updating McAfee product. I was told by the Knitric representative that my computer (2015 Windows 10, Dell Laptop) and the McAfee program I was trying to download were incompatible. I would therefore need to purchase a new program. (I purchased the original McAfee program May 8, 2018). I told the representative that I wanted a single year's subscription for ONE machine. He convinced me I needed a new program and that it would be better to purchase a 3 year package for a "deal" of $330.17 and proceeded to download something onto my machine. Something did not feel right. After lunch I went to the McAfee website (Plano, Texas)and using their number, I was then connected to their Philippine helpline, speaking to a Freddy. She informed me that the highest level McAfee product for one computer cost $59.99, - hence it became obvious that the Knitric representative was attempting sell me a subscription (even at 3 years) for $120.00 more than the going price. I asked Freddy to delete anything from the Indian corporation and instead install whatever was necessary for me to have the cyber protection coverage that I needed. She told me I was paid up.This morning I received 3 harassing phone calls from Knitric. I told the first caller that I knew that they had been unethical, had asked the McAfee representative from the Philippines to remove their program and install another instead, and I didn't want anything to do with them. I did not allow the 2nd caller from the same number to speak - saying I didn't want anything to do with Knitric. The third caller, from a different number, told me that I had "eaten at McDonald's and needed to pay for my hamburger" - the only difficulty was that I had already paid for McAfee on 5/8/2018 for $32.46; and the update on 6/11/2018 for $43.29. I didn't need to pay $330.17 for a third hamburger! Knitric is unethical

Desired Outcome

No further contact by the busi 1. I do not want to hear from Knitric Infotech Private LLC, or any of their representatives ever again. 2. I would like the Attorney General to look into the Georgia offices of Knitric Infotech Private LLC, (***), to determine if the Georgia address is a front for an illegal Indian operation. 3. I truly hope that McAfee receives my warning, and if they have licensed Knitric to be a distributor, that they revoke that license.

Zauba Response • Jun 20, 2018

Thank you for bringing this to our notice and we apologize for all the inconvenience caused to you, We would never misrepresent our company and trouble our customers and even that is completely fine if she doesn't want to pay for the services which was not up to her satisfaction. We have our own pricing for products & services we sell, We would just request her that she can call us or write to us for the feedback and things that we can do to improve our services and we never charged her even after we received her confirmation that her issue is fixed. We always ask for payment from our customer after 24 hours. However, she can rest assured that she will not receive any calls from our end and there is no due that she has to pay us and as we did not charge her So we don't have to refund anything.

Customer Response • Jun 22, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The company wants me to contact them by phone or by mail. I have already written to you at the Revdex.com that I want nothing to do with them. I will not be phoning or writing. If they cannot understand the "feedback" I gave in the complaint, then nothing more will help them understand.
