Zander Insurance

I got quotes for auto and home owners insurance through Joel at Zander insurance. The quotes were both from Auto Owners Insurance. I e-signed a home owners application but nothing for the auto insurance. When the auto insurance packet arrived in the mail the price listed was more than $400 higher than the quote (which was supposed to be good for 90 days and I was still within the 90 days) so I decided not to switch to Auto Owners but to stay with USAA. The homeowners policy ended up also being quite a bit more than the original quote but still less than my current policy so I did go with Auto Owners for my home owners insurance. Shortly thereafter, to my surprise a bill for the auto policy came in the mail. I called Joel and left a message that I did not want this policy and to cancel it. He did not call me back. I called again and talked to another agent who promised that if Joel did not get back to me that day he would call me the next day and take care of the cancellation. Crickets. So I ignored the bills as I had never agreed to the changed quote and had never cancelled my USAA policy. Then I received a cancellation notice so I thought that was then end of it. Nope. Someone (Zander or Auto Owners) reported to the NC DMV that I had a lapse in my liability insurance -which I had not. But I was out of the country when this letter came so the deadline to response had passed. My car registration was revoked and I was charged $50 from the NC DMV and it would have cost me more money and time to get my registration reinstated. I had to spend time on the phone, get the DVM a form sent from USAA and follow up several times to get this resolved. If that was not bad enough…today I received a collection letter for the first 2 months of the auto insurance premium I never agreed to. So more time out of my life wasted to fix this mess that Zander insurance has caused. Honestly, it feels spiteful-not at all Christian-like. Shame on you Dave Ramsey, Joel from Zander Insurance and Auto Owners insurance. I will be cancelling my Auto Owners home owners insurance policy tomorrow!

Started communications in mid-May about new auto and umbrella policies, was quoted one price, but on the day of enrollment, was quoted two different prices with unclear coverage, after two hours on the phone. Decided to cancel policy on the spot and was transferred to manager, who said she would speak with insurance company rep the next day to provide a refund and that a refund would be provided within the week. It's been two weeks and refund is still nowhere in sight.
