Review: 23 Nov 2013. I bought a king size fitted sheet at the recommendation of Yves DeLorme (YDL) store manager, [redacted], in Greenville, DE. It was a $290 sheet on sale for $240. I specifically asked [redacted] twice if this was the same size sheet that I had bought previously. She stated that it was. I have several set of king sheets from YDL and am a long-standing customer.
Dec 2013. I tried the sheet on my bed and it was much too deep for my mattress, which I have had for 20 years. I first tried to call YDL customer service but could not get through the line so I emailed them, summarized the problem, and requested a sheet of comparable quality that would fit my bed, which requires a 15-inch deep sheet.
19 Dec 2013. [redacted] emailed me stating that my purchasing history indicates that I need a 15-inch sheet and she sold me an 18-inch deep sheet. YDL no longer has a 15-inch sheet of comparable quality.
07 or 08 Jan 2014. Customer service, Angela Sachar, required me to take time off from work to take the sheet into their Bryn Mawr, PA store so they could measure it. The sales clerk, [redacted] recommended that I wash it since YDL sheets shrink so much. She also was quite insistent that she come to my home to look at my bed. This was a very odd request especially since there have been so many robberies in my area.
Customer service, Angela Sachar, has refused to give me a refund or alter the sheet at their expense and has accused me of not knowing how to make a bed.
I have tried to resolve this with senior management but it was not possible to reach either [redacted] the listed Chairman of YDL, in either the US headquarters in Charlottesville, VA or Paris, France. I also have not been able to reach the CEO, [redacted]. I finally sent a certified letter to De Jaham Jean Baptiste on 16 Jan 2014 requesting resolution-he has ignored my letter. I do not understand why senior management of a privately owned foreign company operating in the United States is unavailable to American citizens and unwilling to rectify a mistake made by their sales people. I have been a customer of YDL for 20 years, they have greedily taken my money, and, now that there is a problem, are treating me in a very condescending and disrespectful manner. I feel defrauded, there is no way I could have know that YDL changed the sizing of its sheets but YDL knew.
This incident is in sharp contrast to Pottery Barn where I spent several hundred dollars on towels. Approximately 6 months later, there was a problem with two of the towels. I took all of them back. Pottery Barn apologized and graciously refunded my credit card the full amount of the purchase. There were no accusations about my inability to launder the towels correctly or insistence that they come to my home to look at my washer and dryer.Desired Settlement: Refund to my credit card in the full amount of $240.00
