Although I appreciate ***’s perspective on this it is clear that he does not understand medical billing or the medical industryHe keeps talking about time regarding the codesI tried to explain to him that speech codes are untimed. Most speech sessions are for minutes and we bill for
the service or services provided in that minutes. We have no say in what we get paid as the fee schedule for the codes is set by the insurance companies which is different for every insurance company. I would surmise that when he called the other clinic he talked to someone at the front desk. His statement that the other clinic “would never fully bill a person for each service” does not make sense as it is impossible to bill for part of a codeHe may want to call back and talk to the billing administrator for clarification. I felt from the beginning that *** had an agenda to take his child out of therapy which he did and to not pay for any of the services provided. Knowing that, this morning I instructed my billing administrator to zero out their account and to send a statement showing a zero balanceIt went out in this morning’s mail before I received this complaintI will even go one step further. If *** feels that the service he received from a speech therapist with over years of experience was not worth their time I will refund all of the money he has paid. All he has to do is ask for itI hope he does get his son the services he needs
