Review: I was refused service for a gift certificate by the manager of this Oakdale Road service because she had previously received a photo of this type of gift certificate from the owner and told that they were not to accept these because they had expired. I was told by this manager that I could call the corporate office (number above) but that she could not honor this certificate, and that the California laws regarding non-expiration of gift cards/certificates didn't apply because certificates regarding food purchases were exempt. I explained that my understanding of the law was that the certificate had to say EXPIRES ON ____________ and then apply to perishable items. This certificate does not say that. I didn't call the corporate office because the probable purchase value was only about $4.00 and I like this local business, I just didn't want to argue with anyone about it and I didn't feel it was right for the owner to place their employees in the position of giving legal advice or breaking this law.Date of Purchase/Incident: 08/16/2015Desired Settlement: Requested Resolution: Simply honor this certificate. It is for "one small yogurt, with topping." Hopefully, stop giving bad advice as well, I'm sure there isn't a barrage of gift certificates floating around out there, and we really like this business, we started going here and have been customers since this location first opened years ago.Supporting Documents: Gift Certificate from The Yogurt Mill. Gives no value, only "good for one small yogurt, with topping." No dates are on the certificate, only says not redeemable for cash. No dates of purchase and doesn't say "expires on. . . " either.
