Hi [redacted]Thank you for writing. We are glad to have this opportunity to address your concerns regarding your advertising program for [redacted]We are sorry to hear you were not satisfied with your advertising campaign. To be clear, while the goal of advertising on Yelp is to drive more...
traffic to the business page, which may ultimately result in more customers, it is important to keep in mind that results are not guaranteed. When advertising with a Cost Per Click program, you were electing to pay every time a user clicks on your ad impression. You were also paying for the call tracking feature and for an enhanced profile. Our records indicate you signed up for an advertising program with $75 monthly fixed costs plus up to $475 monthly variable costs, for a monthly maximum of $550. The monthly fixed costs were for the call tracking feature and your enhanced profile, which included features such as competitor ad removal and a photo slideshow. Your monthly cost per click budget cap was set at $475, which means you were only charged when someone clicked on your ad and you agreed to pay up to $475 a month for those ad clicks. If you did not reach your monthly budget cap, you would only be charged for the ad clicks you received. However, if you did reach your monthly budget cap, we no longer delivered ads for your business for the remainder of the month so that you wouldn't have to pay more than you agreed to. When a user is searching on Yelp for a business in a certain area, we do our best to provide that user with a Yelp Ad applicable to their search. Yelp Ads appear above the natural search results, as well as on your competitors' business pages. The Yelp Ad is differentiated from the natural search results by a yellow border, and has the notation "Ad" in next to the business name. You were only being charged when someone clicked on your ad.With regards to your comment, "I started getting calls from other businesses and call centers trying to sell to me," please keep in mind that these calls may not necessarily have been from users who clicked on your ad. For example, this activity may have been from users who found your business page through other means, such as our natural search results.Per the terms of your advertising agreement, early termination is subject to a fee of $700. It looks like your advertising program has been terminated as of April 29, 2016, and it appears there is currently an outstanding balance of $1,081.67 for advertising services delivered from March 1, 2016 to April 29, 2016. That being said, we have forwarded your message to the appropriate parties for their consideration. Regards,[redacted]Yelp Inc.

[redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
In the past, I have closed my account and was able to reinstate it immediately. Several of my prior messages concerning my Yelp Elite Badges for 2016 & 2017 were disregarded intentionally by the Yelp [redacted]anager [redacted]. I have called & e-mailed multiple times to Yelp, but they continue to purposely ignore my communications and I have even reached out to the Yelp Press and Yelp East LA.
I will continue to let all businesses know to opt out of Yelp & that Yelp is NOT USER PEOPLE FRIENDLY and NOT concerned about free speech or promoting honest and helpful reviews. The reviews are all biased and Yelp is only created to favor and get advertising money and is an advertising platform that should NOT BE SUPPORTED BY THE PUBLIC nor anyone else.
Sincerely,[redacted]
Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
I understand your response and the reason for the charge. My complaint is that your advertising prices are deceptive and your own representative told me that If I were to call it would have been made clear that the additional charges/add ons were not part of the $300 credit and that it was not explicitly clear online in the process I went through. Due to the poor performance of the ads (not my complaint) I closely monitored my ads to make sure I did not exceed the credit. Your math is correct, I am not disputing that at all. I just don't agree that I should pay for a service that I was unknowingly being charged for.
Sincerely,Anthony[redacted]

Hi [redacted],
Thank you for writing. We are glad to have this opportunity to address your concerns.
If a review is not appearing on the main Yelp listing of a business, it would be for one of three reasons: the review is currently not...
recommended by Yelp's automated recommendation software (which affects both positive and negative reviews); the review was found to be in violation of our Content Guidelines or Terms of Service and has been manually removed by the Yelp Support team; or the user elected to remove the review him/herself. Please note the action that the Yelp Support team takes is separate from actions taken by Yelp's automated recommendation software. If a review is not recommended, that does not necessarily mean it is in violation of our guidelines.
As you may have read, the goal of Yelp's recommendation software is to showcase more reliable content. The recommendation software establishes an objective standard against which every review can be measured, and looks at dozens of different signals, including various measures of quality, reliability, and activity on Yelp.
It's important to note that the software applies the same analysis to everyone, and that it affects both positive and negative reviews. Please also understand that the recommendation software is automated: we cannot manually override the software to recommend or not recommend a review. However, the system is not static, and it looks like your reviews are currently recommended. Reviews may become recommended or not recommended over time as the system continues to make decisions based on a variety of factors.
To learn more about recommended reviews, please visit: http://www.yelp-support.com/Recommended_Reviews?l=en_US
Finally, while our Yelp Support team doesn't offer phone based support, they do provide email based support through our Support Center (http://www.yelp-support.com). We've tried to include detailed answers to the questions we most frequently receive in our Support Center, but there may be situations you encounter where you'll need to contact our Support team for assistance. For these specific situations, there are articles in the Support Center that include submission forms to inquire about the issue.

I am rejecting this response because:I don't appreciate being called a liar! In the past I've had several calls from you guys trying to get me to advertise with you, by enticing me with your $300 free promotion. I had turned down several times because I didn't want to try to remember for me to log in and turn it off. I am a small, growing business and have a lot of other things on my mind. After several attempts from your agents calling trying to sell me this, I told them why I didn't want to advertise with you guys, and than that's when your agent told me that I would get an email to let me know when it's expiring so I can manually turn it off. I NEVER received any email from you guys telling me when it's about to expire. It's pretty convenient you guys don't have a recording. No I didn't get the agents name or number, because I thought I was dealing with a reputable business and wouldn't have to worry about what I am going through now. I WAS WRONG!!! I have gone through the reviews on Revdex.com about you guys, and it looks like this is a common problem with your business. You guys are the true definition of NARCISSISM (You guys being right, while all the reviews are wrong). Shame on you, your customer service, and the overall experience I have had is horrible. You should take the time to look through all the reviews about you guys on Revdex.com, and better train your agents, NOT to be LIARS. Do the right thing and put the money back in my account that you STOLE. I can't believe you even brought up the $12 and some change that you are going to bill me.SHAME SHAME SHAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Glenna,Thank you for writing. We are glad to have this opportunity to address your concerns regarding your advertising program for Pbg Virtual. We've forwarded your message to the appropriate parties. It looks like a manager, Caitlin, called your colleague Jeff and left him a voicemail...
explaining the charges for the account. Our records indicate you redeemed a $300 promotional ad credit on June 7, 2017. To redeem the $300 credit towards Yelp ads, you were required to sign up for our Cost Per Click (CPC) advertising campaign and put payment information on file. You set your Cost Per Click monthly budget at $225. You also signed up for enhanced profile features which cost an additional $75 per month. Once the promotion runs out, advertising continues until you stop your ads through your Yelp for Business Owners Account. Your advertising program was a self-serve program, which means that ads can be turned off by the business at any time through the Yelp for Business Owners Account. If you only wanted to use your $300 promotion, you would have needed to log in and end the program once that credit was used. During your ad setup there were Q&A's on the page explaining that you could stop your ads any time through the Yelp for Business Owners site.Additionally, after you signed up for your advertising program, we sent you an automated email that recapped your purchase and the details of your campaign, including that the payment method on file in your account will be charged monthly, up to a maximum of $300, and your programs will continue unless cancelled. Advertisers also have the option to opt in to receiving billing confirmation emails in the Account Settings section of their account. Below is a more detailed description of how the promotion was applied: June 7 - 30, 2017- You received ad clicks and enhanced profile features which cost a total of $227.81- $227.81 of your $300 credit was used and you paid $0July 2017- You received ad clicks and enhanced profile features which cost a total of $256.70- You had $72.19 remaining promotional credit for this month because it was partially used towards your June ads- You are responsible for $184.51 for advertising services delivered in JulyAugust 1 - 21, 2017- You received ad clicks and enhanced profile features which cost a total of $201.18- You had 0 remaining promotional credit for this month because it was used towards your June and July ads- You are responsible for $201.18 for advertising services delivered in AugustYou can view ad click and billing information in the Yelp Ads and Billing tabs of your Yelp for Business Owners Account at https://biz.yelp.com/.You ended your advertising program on August 21, 2017. As advertising services have been delivered in accordance with the Terms (https://biz.yelp.com/tos/upgrades_en_us_20160928) you agreed to, we will not be able to waive the outstanding balance of $385.69 for advertising services delivered in July and August. Once this amount is collected, you will not incur further charges. Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/11/05) */
Hi [redacted],
Thank you for writing. We are glad to have this opportunity to address your concerns regarding your business page for [redacted] Cremation.
You expressed concern with [redacted] B's review of your business. As you may recall from...
the messages you've received from the Yelp Support team, the review has been evaluated by the Yelp Support team and left up, as it was not found to be in violation of our guidelines. You claim that this review contains "false information"; however, Yelp does not take sides in factual disputes. Rather, if a review appears to reflect the personal experience and opinions of the reviewer, it is our policy to allow the user to stand by his or her review.
We also want to address your comment, "Yelps only response was basically too bad, maybe you as the business owner should consider advertising with Yelp was the only thing they suggested." We want to be clear that a business's decision whether or not to advertise on Yelp does not affect how the reviews on its listing are treated. Businesses are not punished if they don't advertise, nor are businesses awarded with preferential treatment with regards to their reviews if they do advertise. We understand there are some misconceptions about this, so we invite you to visit http://www.yelp.com/advertiser_faq and http://officialblog.yelp.com/2013/05/no-yelp-doesnt-extort-small-businesses-see-...⇄ to learn more.
If you believe, however, that an individual has provided you with different information, we would like to investigate further. To that end, please provide us with the name of the individual whom you spoke with, their phone number, and the date and time of your conversation with them, if known.
Thank you.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/11/09) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
1) The listing is false, [redacted] Cremation is a viable, licensed business now for over 9 years and there are several years of reviews on Yelp for this business to prove that fact to Yelp, the Revdex.com and the public, so please explain how that is clearly not FALSE?
2) The business listing has NEVER changed for availability on YELP or my webiste, ever...again, anouther FALSE statement. Again, Yelp KNOWS this to be true on my listing on their site, so Yelp should have a responsibility to verify that my listing has never said weekend availability on their own site, let alone a simple phone call to the webiste owner. Again, Yelp using FALSE information
3) This person NEVER spoke with me, left any messages for Blue Creek and they DID NOT DO business with Blue Creek, DEFAMATORY and MISLEADING
Just these items alone should be adequeate to remove this FALSE review as they all are able to be verified just by yelp without any other outside additional information.
There is nothing in this review that is true, look at the many years of reviews, this alone should verifiy that this is a real business...Again, licesncses and permits are all available for review.
There should be at least a business to customer relationship or contact of some sort required by Yelp for someone to write false and derogatory statements, as you have listed customers "personal experience"...there was no personal experience, this person never contacted Blue Creek at all. That is just not fair in any way when a business is fully legal and licensed and your company refuses to remove false and misleading information. This should be illegal.
A full explanation from Yelp of how none of this is false, defamatory and misleading given the FACTS to prove otherwise would seem to be required in order to leave up false information from someone I never even spoke with.
I would be more than happy to provide any and alll licesnses also

Hi [redacted],
Thank you for writing back.
We understand that you're disputing the accuracy of [redacted] B's review of your business, and our team has taken a second look at the review. We reached the same conclusion as before and are unable to remove the review. We don't take sides in factual disputes; if a review appears to reflect the reviewer's personal experiences and opinions, it is our policy to let the user stand behind his or her review. Additionally, as frustrating as it may sound, we don't take the place of a court of law and make evidentiary determinations.
You also asked for your business to be removed from Yelp, but we actually don't remove business listing information. While some business owners might prefer to keep a lower profile, this kind of information is publicly available and its use is protected under the law. More importantly, we believe that the public benefits from sharing their experiences with local businesses.

I am rejecting this response because: I was told this advertising would improve my business and it has been zero help. Matter of fact it has only been a strain on the business. Hi Kemi,Thanks for writing back. Our recommendation software recommends both positive and negative reviews in an effort to show the most helpful and reliable reviews to our users. That said, Yelpers write more positive reviews than negative reviews, so it isn’t necessarily surprising that Yelp’s recommendation software might impact more positive reviews. We also want to reiterate that a business's decision whether or not to advertise on Yelp does not affect how the reviews on its listing are treated.Because our recommendation software is automated, the Yelp Support team cannot manually override the software to recommend or not recommend a review. Our recommendation software is automated precisely so that it can apply the same objective standards to every business and every review without being overridden by someone's personal preferences. That said, our recommendation software runs on a daily basis, so reviews that aren't currently recommended may be recommended in the future, and vice versa. Regards,HelenYelp Inc.
Hi [redacted],Thank you for writing. We are glad to have this opportunity to address your concerns. You expressed concern that two of your reviews of [redacted] were removed. As you may recall, our Support team determined that your reviews fell outside our Content Guidelines...
[redacted] because they contained personal attacks. We'll generally allow descriptions or references to be made about other individuals, as long as they pertain to the reviewer's experience and aren't based solely on things like someone's appearance, background, personal beliefs, or romantic preferences. This goes for mentions of the staff of a business as well as other patrons or guests, regardless of whether or not the individuals are referenced by name. We understand that you may be frustrated with our decision to remove your reviews, but our position remains the same.We also want to clarify that a business's decision whether or not to advertise on Yelp does not affect how the reviews on its listing are treated. removed [redacted] from Yelp Search because it does not appear to meet our listing guidelines. Yelp is primarily intended for the review of local consumer oriented businesses. (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Hi,
Apparently, my listing has not been totally removed. Please see link http://www.yelp.com/biz/[redacted]
Perhaps it was removed from the search, but it was never removed from your site. Customers are able to view the page by searching for my company on Google. This has a negative effect on my company image. Per yelps advertising representative's word, our company is not eligible to be listed on yelp since we are an online business only and we do not have a brick and mortar location. I demand that my listing is COMPLETELY and PERMANENTLY removed, as you also agreed that my listing should be removed.
BTW, you never explained how your so called "filters" removed my test review when it was changed to a 5 star but "recommended" it when it was a 2 star. The content an reviewer remained the same in that scenario. Explanation required on your shady business practices!!
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2016/02/17) */
Hi [redacted],
Thank you for your response.
To clarify, because you have the direct link, you will be able to find the business page. However, this page is no longer appearing in Yelp's search results.
We don't remove business listing information. While some business owners might prefer to keep a lower profile, this kind of information is publicly available and its use is protected under the law.
Additionally, we cannot control what gets displayed on Google search. Please keep in mind that results in Google do change over time, so the content in question may change eventually.
Finally, you wrote, "you never explained how your so called "filters" removed my test review when it was changed to a 5 star but "recommended" it when it was a 2 star." Please note we don't go into detail as to why a review is or is not recommended. We intentionally make the recommendation software difficult to reverse engineer otherwise, we would be overrun by reviews written by people hoping to game the system. So while it may be tough to decipher how the recommendation software works, the rules are actually the same for every business and every review. Additionally, it's important to keep in mind that the system is not static reviews may come and go as the recommendation software picks up new information.

Hi [redacted],Thank you for writing. We are glad to have this opportunity to address your concerns regarding your advertising program for [redacted]We appreciate your feedback, and have forwarded your concerns to the appropriate parties. We want to clarify that having a business page on Yelp...
is free. However, Yelp also gives businesses the opportunity to sign up for enhanced profile features, such as a Call To Action button, a photo slideshow, and competitor ad removal. Additionally, businesses can sign up for paid advertising to increase the exposure of their business via features such as targeted ad impressions. Our records indicate that you signed up for a self-serve enhanced profile through your Yelp for Business Owners account on November 20, 2016. The enhanced profile cost $75 per month, and was billed in arrears, which means that we typically bill on the first of the month for services that were delivered in the previous month. It looks like the enhanced profile was successfully turned off per your request on November 29, 2016, and the $22.50 you were charged on December 1, 2016 was for the enhanced profile you had from November 20 - 29, 2016.It also appears you were in touch with one of our sales representatives, [redacted], in November 2016, and that she was showing you some of our full serve advertising packages. It looks like [redacted] sent you some pricing emails to show you how much these full serve programs would cost, and it appears you decided not to sign up for one of these full serve advertising programs. With regards to your comment, "Repeated automated emails showing the account is still active continues to come," it sounds like you may be referring to the Yelp Activity emails. Please note that these emails are simply information about how your business is doing on Yelp, and any business owner who has claimed their Yelp page can receive these emails, regardless of whether or not the business is advertising on Yelp. For information about how to change your email notification settings, please visit: [redacted]Your enhanced profile was turned off on November 29, 2016, but you still have a free business page on Yelp. We hope you will continue to take advantage of the free features available to you on your Yelp for Business Owners Account to engage with the Yelp community. traffic to the business page, which may ultimately result in more customers, it is important to keep in mind that results are not guaranteed. When advertising with a Cost Per Click program, you were electing to pay every time a user clicks on your ad impression. You were also paying for an enhanced profile, which included features such as competitor ad removal and a photo slideshow. We also want to address your comment, "I was promised to be placed on the 1st or 2nd page of their listing pages if I advertised with yelp. [...] From the first day after I saw my listing posted I complained because I was placed on the 9th page. I never saw my ad placed any higher on their listings. Usually, it was on page 13." When a user is searching on Yelp for a business in a certain area, we do our best to provide that user with a Yelp Ad applicable to their search. Yelp Ads appear above the natural search results, as well as on your competitors' business pages. The Yelp Ad is differentiated from the natural search results by a yellow border, and has the notation "Ad" in next to the business name. Your ad has the opportunity to show up on the search results page, but is not guaranteed to show up every time you do a search. You bought a portion of the advertising space for your industry, so there are other advertisers that we must show as well. Sometimes you may see an ad for a different company, sometimes when conducting a search you may not see an ad at all.Additionally, please keep in mind that Yelp Ads are separate from Yelp's numbered search results, which have absolutely nothing to do with who is paying us. Yelp's natural search results algorithm is designed to provide the best results based on a number of different factors including review text, ratings, and number of reviews. While we can't guarantee specific results or business rankings, we are always working to improve our search tool so that we can deliver the most relevant local results to our users. You also expressed concern with the early termination fee. As you have chosen to end your 3-month agreement early, you are responsible for an early termination fee of $525 per the terms of the contract you signed. Your advertising agreement also indicates that we require 30 days written notice to your account management contact if you wish to terminate your advertising.Your advertising program was terminated on April 3, 2016, and it looks like there is currently an outstanding balance of $1069.58 ($544.58 for advertising services delivered in March and April, plus $525 for the early termination fee). As advertising services were delivered in accordance with the advertising agreement you signed, we will not be able to waive this balance. For further assistance with this balance, please reach out to [redacted], a third party collection agency we are using, at [redacted]Regards,[redacted]Yelp Inc.
Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: It is still a personal attack on a stylist, the same user reviewed 3 salons in the same day, giving all 3 negative reviews. How can someone have their hair cut 3 times in the same day? Since starting this complaint I have been contacted multiple times by Yelp, even again this morning by sales people willing to work with me. Read over the majority of complaints for Yelp and they all come down to the same thing. Yelp is doing whatever it can grow it's own buisness allowing false reviews to stand hoping that companies will contract with them in order to get it cleared up. What they don't state is that this is all done over phone calls, or that they will investigate such claims themselves, then tell you they found nothing. Add 1 more buisness that is rejecting Yelp soley based off the fact that they do not police themselves like the say they do.Sincerely,[redacted]

Hi [redacted],
Thank you for writing. We are glad to have this opportunity to address your concerns regarding your business page for [redacted].
You claim that you requested verbally that your advertising program not be automatically renewed...
after the initial six-month term. However, as stated in the advertising agreement you signed, your advertising program would automatically renew on a monthly basis at the end of the initial six-month commitment period until we receive a written cancellation request from you. Your advertising agreement also indicated that you must provide written notification to your account manager on or before the 15th of the month in order to to terminate advertising at the end of that month. If you provide written notice after the 15th of the month, then the advertising program will terminate at the end of the following month. Our records indicate that our Account Management team first received a written cancellation request from you on June 26, 2015, so your advertising program was terminated as of July 31, 2015.
That said, as you may recall from the correspondence you've had with the Yelp Finance team, the accrued July charges will be waived as you indicated you no longer work for Peoples Home Equity. However, you are still responsible for the $850.00 for advertising services delivered in June. Thanks for understanding.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: Your responses are consistent with 1,000's of other complaints against Yelp. First you contradict yourself. To say that Yelp frowns up asking a patient who I have asked to state their feelings about my practice is in essence no allowing for an unbiased response is ridiculous. I don't want to burst your bubble but a large percentage of elderly hearing aid patients don't even have the Internet let alone know what Yelp is. Thus if you think patients are going right to Yelp to write a recommendation dream on. I routinely ask my patients to supply an inquiry on many of the different Internet sites. None of my patients are unhappy or have ever been as substantiated through the A+ rating with never a complaint per the Revdex.com. As always is the case with Yelp, your company blames everything on your miraculous algorithms that run you computer review evaluations. Taking no responsibility as to people write the algorithms. I designed automated credit scoring software when I was with [redacted] and I know first hand that scoring systems can always be tweaked or else the scoring system would eventually react contrarily to a company's changing mission. Plus after hearing that same argument from one of the major credit bureaus I sued them and low and behold what did we find, algorithms can be managed accordingly. Therefore I will not buy into your rebuttal as it is just a matter of time before your court decision that you also hid behind is overturned and the class actions suits will win.
Sincerely,[redacted]

Dear [redacted]
Thank you for replying again.
As you said, “We hope to be able to continually improve on this issue”.
How come none of the 7 good reviews is not able to make the cut from over 14 months? We have updated this business since
Oct 2015 the day we bought it, but Yelp software is not digesting these updates. By not showing the complete truth, it is
showing a wrong picture to public and deceiving public.
And we see this kind of trouble with Yelp only, and not with any other review sites like [redacted],
[redacted], etc. So only Yelp software needs to be fixed/ improved.
And if Yelp is hoping to be able to improve on this issue, meanwhile it’s driving me out of business by hurting my sales.
Please give a timeline, by when Yelp software will be fixed and at least any of the good review will be displayed? Or
please advise me how Yelp compensates the loss I bear everyday because of Yelp’s unimproved/outdated software?

Hi Andrew,Thank you for writing. We are glad to have this opportunity to address your concerns regarding your advertising program for Bell's Auto Sales. Our records indicate you signed up on November 6, 2017 for a full serve advertising program with $75 monthly fixed costs plus a monthly Cost...
Per Click budget of $275, for a monthly maximum of $350. This monthly maximum was stated in on the "Finalize your order" page during the checkout process, as well as in the "Welcome to Yelp Advertising: Your Ads Are Now Live!" email we sent you after you signed up for your advertising program. The $75 monthly fixed costs are for your enhanced profile, which included features such as a Call to Action button, a photo slideshow, and competitor ad removal. Your advertising program is a cost per click (CPC) program and your monthly cost per click budget cap is set at $275, which means you are charged when someone clicks on your ad and you agreed to pay up to $275 a month for those ad clicks. If you do not reach your monthly budget cap, you would be charged for the ad clicks you received. However, if you do reach your monthly budget cap, we no longer deliver ads for your business for the remainder of the month so that you wouldn't have to pay more than you agreed to.It looks like your advertising program is currently set to cancel at the end of your initial term on February 6, 2017. We have forwarded your message to the appropriate parties for their consideration, but as advertising services are being delivered in accordance with the Terms [redacted] you agreed to, we will not be able to offer you a refund at this time. Thanks for understanding. Regards,HelenYelp Inc.
