Hi Michael,Thank you for writingWe are glad to have this opportunity to address your concerns regarding your business page for Reliable Movers. We want to assure you that Yelp treats advertisers and non-advertisers exactly alike with respect to reviewsAdvertising only buys ads and never
higher ratings, removal of negative reviews or promotion of positive reviews. You'll find plenty of Yelp advertisers with negative reviews, and plenty of non-advertisers with five-star ratings across the boardFurthermore, there is zero relationship between the timing of when a review gets recommended and when a business decides to--or declines to--advertiseReviews can be recommended or not recommended days, weeks, or even months after they were first posted, and a Yelp sales representative doesn't have any influence over when that might happen. We hope you’ll take the time to watch our video about the Recommendation Software: *** and read more about common misconceptions here: ***You also expressed concern with two 1-star reviewsIt looks like you are referring to the reviews by Gabrielle Sand Scott MPlease note that actions taken by Yelp’s automated recommendation software are separate from the Yelp Support team's evaluation of reviews against our Content Guidelines***Our Support team has looked at Gabrielle Sand Scott M.'s reviews of Reliable Movers, and has elected to leave them upIf a review appears to reflect a user's personal experience and opinions, it is our policy to let the user stand behind his or her review. You also asked for your business to be removed from Yelp; however, we don't remove business informationWhile some business owners might prefer to keep a lower profile, this kind of information is publicly available and its use is protected under the law. Hi ***,Thank you for writingWe are glad to have this opportunity to address your concerns regarding your business page for *** *** *** * ***.You wrote, "Our company name "*** *** ***" is copy rightedThey are in violation of our copy right when advertising our business
listing on their website." We list businesses in our directory to allow consumers to read and write reviews about those businessesEven when a business owner has registered their business name as a trademark, the law protects the right of a website like Yelp to list the name, just as it protects the right of consumers to talk about what they like (and don't like) about a meal they ate, a plumber that they hired, or a car wash that they visited. You asked for your business to be removed from Yelp; however, we don't remove business informationWhile some business owners might prefer to keep a lower profile, this kind of information is publicly available and its use is protected under the lawMore importantly, we believe that the public benefits from sharing their experiences with local businesses.Additionally, we want to be clear that a business's decision whether or not to advertise on Yelp does not affect how the reviews on its listing are treatedBusinesses are not punished if they don't advertise, nor are businesses awarded with preferential treatment with regards to their reviews if they do advertiseWe understand there are some misconceptions about this, so we invite you to visit *** and *** to learn more.If you believe, however, that an individual has provided you with different information, we would like to investigate furtherTo that end, please provide us with the name of the individual whom you spoke with, their phone number, and the date and time of your conversation with them, if known. It's important to note that the software applies the same analysis to everyone, and that it affects both positive and negative reviewsPlease also understand that the recommendation software is automated: we cannot manually override the software to recommend or not recommend a reviewHowever, the system is not static -- reviews may become recommended or not recommended over time as the system continues to make decisions based on a variety of factors. To learn more about recommended reviews, please visit: ***You also expressed concern with some negative reviewsIf you come across content that you feel may violate Yelp's Content Guidelines (***), please let our moderators know by reporting itYou can do so by finding the content in question, clicking the flag icon on the website or the More Options/Overflow Menu (dots) on the appYou'll need to be logged into your account to report content. To learn more, please visit: ***While reporting content doesn't guarantee that it'll be removed, our team looks at every inquiry and carefully evaluates the content against our guidelinesEach case will be reviewed by our team in the order it was received.Regards,***Yelp Inc

Hi ***,Thank you for writingWe are glad to have this opportunity to address your concerns regarding the business page for ***.You expressed concern with the review and photos by *** *It looks you reported this content by flagging it on Yelp on April 19, and that our Support team
evaluated it and informed you of their decision to leave it up on April 21, 2017, the same day you filed this Revdex.com complaint. Our team has taken a second look at *** *.'s review, but we reached the same conclusion as before and are unable to remove the reviewWe don't take sides in factual disputes; if a review appears to reflect the reviewer’s personal experiences and opinions, it is our policy to let the user stand behind his or her review. With regards to *** *.'s photos, we have already removed these photos from the business's photo galleryHowever, since they appear to represent a more unique personal experience, the photos will still appear alongside the user's review. We only remove photos from our site if we think they violate our Content Guidelines (***), but in this case, we did not find the photos to be in violation. These decisions aren’t always easy, but please know we looked at the review and photos closely before reaching our decision.Regards,***Yelp Inc

Hi ***,Thank you for writingWe are glad to have this opportunity to address your concerns. You expressed concern a review and photoIt looks like you are referring to the content posted by *** * to the business page for *** *** ***, as you recently reported this contentAs you may
recall, the review and photo have been evaluated by the Yelp Support team and left up, as they were not found to be in violation of our guidelines. You claim that "picture and the review are falsely portraying" you; however, Yelp does not take sides in factual disputesRather, If a review appears to reflect the personal experience and opinions of the reviewer, it is our policy to allow the user to stand by his or her review. We've decided not to remove the photo that you brought to our attention because it does appear to violate anyone's reasonable expectation of privacyFor example, most photos that are taken in public or of private property that is open to the public do not violate a privacy right. Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 7, 2015/06/15) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
Dear Ms***,
I am writing back in response to your answerLet me begin by responding to *** *** reviewYou stated that "*** *** review update of *** *** *** *** was removed because it fell outside our Content Guidelines," however the review is still postedAlso, you claimed "*** *** *** were also evaluated by the Yelp Support team and left up, as they were not found to be in violation of our guidelinesIf a review appears to reflect the personal experience and opinions of the reviewer, it is our policy to allow the user to stand by his or her review." The term "appears" is concerning to meI am clearly stating I don't know these individuals, nor have they come to my day care for a visit. I'm not sure how a computerized system can indicate whether an individual is providing valid informationOther clients have left reviews, which have not been properly posted on your site. This tells me that your system is failing to identify actual clients of mineThis means any person would be able to write a review, and because the system "assumes" the individual is telling the truth, will post it on the site for any potential client to see
In terms of your comment "Please be assured that there is no relationship between reviews and anything having to do with Yelp Ads or the Yelp Ads sales process," I do not have the information for the individuals who have called me asking for moneyThis occurred a couple of years ago, and I thought it would be important for you to be aware of what's going on
You claim that "The rest are posted below and don’t factor into the business’s overall star rating." This makes no sense to me because I am clearly stating that these reviews were written by actual clientsI don't understand how I could have reviews, but only are posted, which happen to be the only low rated reviewsThis, to me, is a scamIf you don't take these reviews down, then I would like my business to be taken off your website
Sincerely,*** ***

Complaint: ***1865I am rejecting this response because: there are reviews of great accolade that are not being put in an easily visible position
this gives ppl a skewed view to form an opinion of mine and other companies
no other review entity i.e*** *** *** *** etc hides reviews or has some skewed software excuse of hiding reviews good or bad in my case you are hiding tremendous reviews from ppl
I have been in this business on the same street for years no one else can come close to that mark
my company handles I've clients a year over 60% repeat business
its not right that your so called software injures companies like mine by hiding and NOT INCLUDING even their rating in a total score
it needs to be corrected
the rest of your statement about search engines etc don't matter to me showing truth is what matters not hiding the truth
Sincerely,*** ***

Hi ***Thank you for writingWe are glad to have this opportunity to address your concerns regarding your business page for *** ***.We first want to be clear that a business's decision whether or not to advertise on Yelp does not affect how the reviews on its listing are treated

Hi Ms***,Thank you for writing again. We understand our approach is very different from other sites that tend to feature every single negative rant and positive raveWe do our best to nurture a community of users who actively contribute reliable and useful content.Additionally, please note that reviews that are not currently recommended are accessible from a link at the bottom of each business's page, and can also be seen on a user's profile page.We also want to reiterate that the recommendation software affects both positive and negative reviewsWhile it may be tough to decipher how the recommendation software works, the rules are actually the same for every business and every review.Regards,***Yelp Inc

You expressed concern with *** C's reviewWe appreciate your concerns for privacy and have
taken a second look at this review, but, after careful consideration, we ultimately reached a different conclusion than you about whether this review violates our termsWe do allow individuals such as business owners and service providers to be named in reviews describing a consumer interaction
In some situations, business owners may want to message the reviewer privately, or post a public response to clarify any misunderstandingsIt looks like the business page has already been claimed by some of your colleagues, and they can reach out to the reviewer via their Yelp for Business Owners Account

Hi ***,You have again alleged that Yelp is manipulating your reviews because you declined to advertiseHowever, with respect to reviews, paying businesses have absolutely no advantageThe recommendation software does not distinguish between advertisers and free listings, and the revenue side of our business operates independently of the content side of our business, just as a newspaper might put a firewall between their advertising and reporting functions. We recognize that there have been news stories alleging that Yelp manipulates reviews and ratings to reward advertisers, yet these allegations are not based in factPlease consider:Third party research (such as *** *** School) has debunked this conspiracyCourts have rejected the conspiracy due to the lack of any fact-based evidenceA simple search across the site proves that non-advertisers often have excellent and 5-star ratings while many advertisers have low ratings. Please be assured that there is no relationship between reviews and anything having to do with Yelp Ads or the Yelp Ads sales processThere’s no amount of money a business can pay to manipulate their reviews or rating and Yelp doesn’t skew things in favor of advertisers or against businesses that don’t.As we've previously noted, because our recommendation software is automated, the Yelp Support team cannot manually override the software to recommend or not recommend a reviewThat said, our recommendation software runs on a daily basis, so reviews that aren't currently recommended may be recommended in the future, and vice versa. Finally, we want to address your comment, "you put other store's negative and possitive reviews at the start of my reviews with only a tiny label saying they are for other stores." It sounds like you are referring to the ads that appear on your pageYelp has advertising programs that allow businesses to display their listings on search results and on related business pagesThis is meant to enhance the user experience by suggesting relevant businesses that Yelp's users may not have previously consideredThese Yelp Ads are differentiated from your reviews by a yellow border, and are labeled "Ad" next to the advertiser's name.Regards,***Yelp Inc

Hi ***,Thank you for writingWe are glad to have this opportunity to address your concerns regarding your business page for *** *** ***We are sorry to hear you were not satisfied with your advertising campaignTo be clear, while the goal of advertising on Yelp is to drive more traffic to the business page, which may ultimately result in more customers, it is important to keep in mind that results are not guaranteedWhen advertising with a Cost Per Click program, you were electing to pay every time a user clicked on your ad impressionYou were also paying for enhanced profile features, including a Call To Action button, a photo slideshow, and competitor ad removal. You wrote, "they promised me that my Company would be elevated from being ranked in the teens to next to the top of the listings under the Catagory Page, Hearing Aid Providers." To clarify, when a user is searching on Yelp for a business in a certain area, we do our best to provide that user with a Yelp Ad applicable to their searchYelp Ads appear above the natural search results, as well as on your competitors' business pages and in various other places around the websiteThe Yelp Ad is differentiated from the natural search results by a orange border, and has the notation "Ad" in next to the business name.Separate from Yelp Ads are Yelp's numbered search results, which have absolutely nothing to do with who is paying us Yelp's natural search results algorithm is designed to provide the best results based on a number of different factors including review text, ratings, and number of reviewsWhile we can't guarantee specific results or business rankings, we are always working to improve our search tool so that we can deliver the most relevant local results to our users. We also want to address your comment, "I was told that if some of my patients would write reviews it would be helpful to validate my Company." We want to clarify that asking for reviews is not something we encourageFor one thing, most businesses tend to ask their happiest customers to write reviews, not the unhappy onesThese self-selected reviews tell only part of the story, and we don’t think that’s fair to consumersWe would much rather hear from members of the Yelp community who are inspired to talk about their experiences without a business owner’s encouragementMore information can be found here: *** It's important to note that Yelp uses automated software to showcase helpful and reliable reviews from the Yelp communityAs a result, you shouldn’t be surprised if our software fails to recommend the reviews that you’ve asked your customers to writeYour best bet to get high quality and unbiased reviews about your business is to provide a memorable and amazing customer experience, rather than asking your customers to post on Yelp.As you may have read, we use automated software to recommend reviews, with the goal of showcasing the ones that best reflect the opinions of the Yelp communityThe rest are posted below and don’t factor into the business’s overall star ratingThe software does what it can with the information at hand, and regularly revisits each review as it learns moreAs a result, different reviews might be recommended on different daysYou can see reviews that aren't currently recommended by clicking on the link at the bottom of each business page. While we understand your concerns, we want to make sure you are clear that federal law bars lawsuits against websites like Yelp for the decisions they make about which reviews to post or removeSee *** ** *** *** *** *** ** ** *** *** *** *** *** ** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ** *** ** *** *** ** *** ***To learn more about recommended reviews, please visit: ***You also expressed concern with a review that contained the text, "Please don't review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review or if you are connected in any way to the owner of employees." Hi Paul,Thank you for writingWe are glad to have this opportunity to address your concerns regarding your business page for Johnson Advanced Cleaning. It sounds as though you are concerned about a reviewIt looks like you are referring to the review by Toni B., which you recently reportedWe have
taken another look at this review and want to clarify our policies as they pertain to cases like this. The only people who can speak authoritatively to a situation are the people who were there when it happened, so our moderators aren't in a position to take sides when factual accounts differAs long as a review appears to reflect the reviewer's personal experiences and opinions, we'll generally allow them to stand behind their reviewOur moderators generally aren't able to consider outside information or arbitrate disputes, if there's a disagreement over the facts of a situation. With that in mind, we’ve taken another look and we stand by our original decision to leave the review up, as we did not find it to be in violation of our guidelines. It looks like you’ve already taken advantage of the messaging feature on your business account to post a public comment in response to the reviewYou also have the ability to directly message the reviewer; you can learn more at ***For additional guidance on using your business account, visit***Regards,HelenYelp Inc

Hi B,
Thank you for writingWe are glad to have this opportunity to address your concerns.
You expressed concern that your reviews of Sweet Dixie Kitchen have been removedYour reviews were removed because they were found to fall outside our Content GuidelinesWe typically remove
reviews that don’t focus on the reviewer’s firsthand experiences as a customer of the business (such as secondhand experiences, observations from the perspective of a non-customer, or complaints about the business’s practices or politics)
Additionally, it looks like this business recently was in the newsLocal businesses sometimes make national news, often about something controversial, and many people come to Yelp to share their views about the newsWhile users are also welcome to post photos and reviews about the businesses in question, but we ultimately remove the ones that appear to be motivated by the news coverage itself rather than their firsthand customer experience.
For more information about how we approach these types of situations, please visit: ***
As you may recall from the message you received from the Yelp Support team on December 20, 2017, your account was closed because of Terms of Service***) violations, including repeated or multiple Content Guidelines violations, as you continued to repost your review despite our warnings that reposting content to this business page may result in closure of your account
Finally, we want to be clear that Yelp treats advertisers and non-advertisers exactly alike with respect to reviewsAdvertising only buys ads and never higher ratings, removal of negative reviews or promotion of positive reviewsYou'll find plenty of Yelp advertisers with negative reviews, and plenty of non-advertisers with five-star ratings across the boardWe hope you’ll take the time to read more about common misconceptions here:***
