When tutors (or other users) register on (or otherwise use ) the wyzant.com site, they agree to be bound to the site Terms of Use At least one reason for deactivating Mr*** account includes his violation of the Terms of Use as related to registering or otherwise creating multiple
accounts on the site Additionally, the Terms of Use state in paragraph 16, “WyzAnt reserves the right to suspend and/or terminate any user with or without notice at any time in its sole discretion, for any reason or no reason.” As such, we decline to re-list his profile at this time
Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/04/07) */
Ms.***'s tutor profile was removed in accordance with WyzAnt's terms and conditions which are available to view hereWhile the account had been active since 2009, and she had tutored a total of hours, the removal of her profile
was in line with the terms that she agreed to when WyzAnt listed her profileWe understand that Ms.*** does not agree with this decision, however, WyzAnt reserves the right not to list the services of any individual, and we have chosen not to re-list her profile
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/04/07) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
WyzAnt.com did not resolve the issue, instead they reiterated the same responseI am highly dissatisfied with their unapologetic reply and unwillingness to help
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/04/15) */
WyzAnt is sorry for the frustration that the removal of Ms.***'s profile has caused herIt was done in accordance with the terms and conditions that she agreed to when her profile was listedWyzAnt maintains its adherence to the terms and conditions, and requires that all users who have agreed to the terms honor them as wellAgain, we are sorry that this has caused Ms.*** to call into question the decision to remove her profileHowever, WyzAnt will remain committed to its adherence to the terms of use it has set forth for all parties involved in any transaction through the websiteFor further reference, a full listing of the terms and conditions can be found at the bottom of every listed page on the websiteThank you
Sleazy companyDoes not do enough to protect students from abisive tutors on the siteWyzant will always side with where their money is coming from, ao that means for a $dispute, I got $backGreat
Each tutor listed with WyzAnt has the ability to reflect a cancellation policy on their public profile If a student does not contact the tutor to cancel according to the stated cancellation policy, it is at each tutor’s
discretion whether they choose to assess the associated fee In this particular instance, Mr*** selected tutor has a hour cancellation policy listed on his profile Mr*** scheduled a lesson with his tutor for 5/13/16, with an anticipated start time between 11:and 11:a.m Mr*** emailed the tutor on 5/13/at 11:a.mto indicate that he needed to reschedule due to public transportation issues While WyzAnt certainly understands that extenuating circumstances may arise, Mr*** did not contact the tutor to reschedule in line with the stated cancellation policy As such, it is within the tutor’s purview to assess the cancellation fee of $55, which is commensurate with his hourly rate We are sorry that this situation occurred and the lesson was not able to take place as anticipated
In order for a tutor to host a profile with WyzAnt, it is necessary for each tutor to meet certain application
and qualification requirements Ms*** began the application process in the fall of and WyzAnt communicated with Ms*** several times, via the application form and email correspondence, to outline what was required for application approval Unfortunately, Ms*** application did not meet these requirements and as a result, she was not provided with a profile Per WyzAnt’s Terms of Use, not every applicant is provided with a listing, and we wish Ms*** the best in her future endeavors
Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/02/27) */
WyzAnt is a marketplace for tutors and students to connect for one-on-one tutoring at a location mutually agreed upon by both partiesTutors and students can connect either by a tutor responding to a posting for help from a student, or
by a student contacting a tutor directly after reviewing their online WyzAnt profile
WyzAnt's marketplace consists of both legitimate tutors and students in needWyzAnt does not concoct or fabricate any of its users
Given the growing number of tutors and students, the opportunities for tutors are competitive factoring in the subject, location and experience of the tutorsTaking these factors into consideration, WyzAnt does not make any guarantee that tutors will be hired by students; WyzAnt is simply the platform for marketing their services and communicating with students
Signing up with WyzAnt is a free service for tutors to use and does not prevent tutors from maximizing their tutoring business in other ways
On multiple occasions, Mr*** contacted our Customer Support Team to express his frustration with WyzAnt's procedureBased on his dissatisfaction with the WyzAnt platform, it was decided that WyzAnt would sever its relationship with Mr***, as is stated within our right in our terms of use
WyzAnt does apologize that Mr*** was not able to successfully connect with any students through the online marketplace we provide and wish him the best on his future endeavors
Final Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2014/02/27) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I did have some legitimate complaints about certain aspects of the WyzAnt forumsHowever, it was not sufficient reason for WyzAnt to suddenly sever the relationship without any discussionI think that the way WyzAnt handled this was very unprofessional
Final Business Response /* (4000, 11, 2014/03/11) */
While WyzAnt understands that the closure of the profile of* *** is a frustrating matter, WyzAnt does retain the right to terminate any profile listed on the WyzAnt marketplace for any reason, at any timeThis was done so as it seemed that this was not the best platform for Mr*** to promote his tutoring business
We wish Mr*** the best on his future endeavors

I used Wyzant to take care of my 'back office' (accounting, marketing, etc.) which made me a customer as I was an independent contractor using a service Wyzant has no contract, no fine print and is a business which practices the fine art of prevaricationWyzant is predatory to its contractors, often unscroupulously taking money from independent contractors and providing little or no service commensurate with the fee they extract
Not only does Wyzant have a business model which is strictly about making money, they have practices in helping parents find tutors which can be of no benefit to the studentAn example is when Wyzant wishes to market/place a new tutor so Wyzant can obtain 40% of the earnings while a tutor with more experience and hours only loses 20%When asked to provide the fine print, explain what is going on and clarify how they use the monies they extract, Wyzant conveniently talks about algorithmsI was one of their designated Top tutors in I asked how I earned the designation as I wanted to do better in No one at Wyzant was able to tell me what it was about how I conducted business, interacted with students/parents, etcwhich helped me obtain a top rankingThis made me suspiciousAfter obtaining this ranking, their service in the area of marketing me skidded past zero into negativeBased on what I observed from the inside as a tutor, I could not in good faith recommend anyone use Wyzant, most especially to find a tutorThe only thing Wyzant has figured out how to do well at is rig the system, extract money and lie about their relationship to their independent contractors, who they manipulate as employees, even though we are notWyzant is working diligently to commodify every transaction in hopes to sell of business and make their millionAs to education concerns - I think this should be better left to the professionals

I am rejecting this response because:I disagree with the information and reason providedBasically, the Business Wyzant Inc as per Paragraph ** and Paragraph ** of the Independent Tutor Agreement:-https://support.wyzant.com/hc/en-us/articles/***States clearly that:-Independent Tutor acknowledges that a copy of all documents created or received by Independent Tutor in connection with the administration of services performed hereunder ("Tutor Documents") may be retained by Wyzant and used for its administrative purposes.andWyzant does not claim ownership of content that Independent Tutor provides on the Site including, but is not limited to, articles, lessons, worksheets, tutorials, files, testimonials, reviews, video submissions, and blog entries ("Site Content") and shall have no obligation of any kind with respect to such content. My profile listing falls under articles, testimonial and reviews as stated above.Basically, the Business Wyzant is saying we don't want to take responsibility of any potential damages that may arise from the Tutor's posting on our website but then again, we don't want to give you back the content that patently they acknowledge to be mine if the consequences is bad, but if there is no harm, then, we will keep the content.Actually, it is not worth the while to argue over my Profile listingIt has no value whatsoever to WyzantIt is just bad tasteI just want Revdex.com to post this exchange to let everyone know what kind of business Wyzant is running. If for example, a genuine business like *** wants to close my e-mail account on their platform for whatever reason, then, I am sure that if I ask for my personal e-mails to be given back to me, *** will acknowledge my requestUnlike WyzantBecause Wyzant is not running an up-abusiness, but rather, is a bad business running a scamWhich other business will I encounter "Customer Service" Team giving me a response "Wyzant considers this decision to be final and a representative will not be made available to further discuss this matter."First time in my years of living that I encounter a "Customer Service" Team that does not want to provide "Customer Service", the sole purpose of its functionI have seen irate customers in many situations from airlines to supermarkets, but, I have never seen or heard Customer Service saying that they "don't want to provide Customer Service" anymore.Revdex.com, kindly check your A+ Rating for Wyzant IncIt doesn't look like an A+ business to meAt the very least, they can hide under all the legal disclaimers, but, it is just a vengeful, disreputable, dishonest companyClearly, my Profile Listing has absolutely no value to them whatsoever, and yet, Wyzant Inc refuses to send me that listing so that I can post it on other tutoring websitesThe Profile Listing is a content that I created and spent numerous house to write. Wyzant not only takes an exorbitant percentage of your pay (which means you have to charge your customers FAR more than I personally am comfortable with), but they also are completely inconsistent with how they approve people for subjects which are approved by some weird scale not shown to users For instance I was approved for Sewing, but not for working with ADHD students - even though I've spent a year as a nanny/tutor for an ADHD student, grew up and tutored my own younger brother (by years) who was ADHD) and worked at a *** preschool for years where I worked with multiple ADHD students For sewing - well, I learned to sew when I was 8, and have sewn my own clothes for many years, but done NOTHING that could be considered work experience The lesson is - Wyzant's qualifications really don't mean anything

When tutors list a profile with Wyzant, they are required to agree to the stated Terms of Use, as well as the Independent Tutor Agreement. Ms. P[redacted] tutor profile was removed in accordance with these terms and conditions, which include the payment policies. The situation in question...
and Ms. P[redacted] account have been reviewed and assessed by multiple parties, including the Profile Review Team. During the review process, several disputes involving student reports of direct payment to Ms. P[redacted] were identified. Any payment outside of Wyzant is a violation of the payment policies and grounds for removal. Given these findings, the decision not to re-list Ms. P[redacted] account will stand. Additionally, per the Terms of Use, Wyzant reserves the right not to list the services of any individual, and has chosen not to host Ms. P[redacted] profile going forward.
Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/10/08) */
WyzAnt is sorry to hear that the tutor had difficulty navigating the WyzAnt system and was unable to successfully log the lesson according to the payment policies. The policy in question, as was agreed to by the tutor upon sign-up, ...
states that in order to guarantee payment, the lesson must be submitted within 7 days of the date of the lesson. If a lesson is not submitted within 7 days, the submission must then be approved by the student. In this case, the student did not accept the lesson charges.
The tutor's calls to customer support did include two escalations to a supervisor, who followed company protocol. In light of the situation, WyzAnt is willing to provide a one-time exception to the payment policies and provide the tutor with $21.60 in payment (the tutor's hourly rate of $36 less the current 40% commission fee) for the lesson in question. This payment will be remitted according to the tutor's selected method of payment during the next pay period.
Mr. [redacted] account was closed on 7/18/16 in accordance with WyzAnt’s Terms of Use, which encompass an Academic Honesty Policy. When it is determined that the provided services are not in line with these Policies, Wyzant is not able to continue hosting the associated profile. At the...
time of the closure, Wyzant communicated with Mr. [redacted] multiple times regarding the status of his profile. Wyzant reserves the right not to list the services of any individual, and we have chosen not to host Mr. [redacted] profile going forward.
Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:Wyzant did not address any of the issues I mentioned in my complaint and was deceitful in their response. They did not address why they did not issue a warning about a policy violation, why they refused to discuss and attempt to clarify the situation with me when I tried to contact them, and why they failed to give any reason for the deactivation in the first two emails that they sent me. They claim to have "communicated" with me about my profile status. Yes, they communicated with me that my profile was closed without providing a reason, then repeated the same thing in the second email, again without a reason. Then in the third email, they mentioned something about academic honesty, but when I tried to contact them to discuss the matter and attempt to clarify what I felt was a misunderstanding, they refused to communicate with me at all. This is not communication. The company claims in their response that they were "not able to host my profile", but in the final line of the response, it states that they have "chosen" not to host my profile going forward, implying that they are able to, but choose not to. The company claims to be acting on behalf of academic honesty, when in truth, I have never dealt with a company as dishonest and unethical as Wyzant.
Sincerely,
Menachem [redacted]
