The owner recently contacted our office about his radon levels Back in October of we got approval from the owner to install the radon system in two stages because the basement was drywall finished and we could not seal the perimeter cracks Our contract specified that if the radon levels were still elevated after the 1st system was installed we would need to install a second system on the opposite side of the house The first stage was a system with the piping routed through the garage The radon levels were still elevated after this system was installed and diagnostic measurements confirmed that indeed the 1st system was not inducing negative pressure under the slab In order to avoid the 2nd system the owner agreed to have a larger fan installed on the 1st system to try and induce a sub-slab negative pressure Our company did install the larger fan but the levels remained elevated At that point the owner decided to not have the 2nd system installed and we did not hear from him until recently two years later The ejection pump is a sealed unit to avoid sewer gas odors coming into the house There is no openings for caulking to get into the motorWe have just contacted the owner and agreed to return to his home for no additional charge and review the situation and determine what is the best next step We will for no charge place radon test kits in different areas of the home to carefully determine the source of the radon before determining the next best step

radon levels were still elevated after the 1st system was installed we would need to install a second system on the opposite side of the house. The first stage was a system with the piping routed through the garage. The radon levels were still elevated after this system was installed and diagnostic measurements confirmed that indeed the 1st system was not inducing negative pressure under the slab. In order to avoid the 2nd system the owner agreed to have a larger fan installed on the 1st system to try and induce a sub-slab negative pressure. Our company did install the larger fan but the levels remained elevated. At that point the owner decided to not have the 2nd system installed and we did not hear from him until recently two years later. The ejection pump is a sealed unit to avoid sewer gas odors coming into the house. There is no openings for caulking to get into the motor. We have just contacted the owner and agreed to return to his home for no additional charge and review the situation and determine what is the best next step. We will for no charge place radon test kits in different areas of the home to carefully determine the source of the radon before determining the next best step.
