We were informed at the time of the writing of the check that it was earnest money. The check even says earnest money. When the apprasial was completed the house came back 20 thousand lower than the asking price we attempted to negotiate but the seller was unwilling to lower the price. At this point...

we signed a cancelation on the contract and was told the check would be destroyed. The check was then cashed last [redacted]. When we called to ask why the check had been cashed the peraon on the phone at the realtors office would not give thier name, but gave us an email to thier boss who was out of country. We called our realtor and asked about the check and was informed it was supposed to have been option money to pull the house off the market during apprasial. This was not clarified by ethier realtor. I am extremely angry that a check which even if it was option money had not been cashed in the 3-5 buisness days as they had informed us but rather 7 months later.
