Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: Carly continues to act like the victim of my harassment, I am an unhappy customer that was denied a reasonable solution. she is stating my complaints to [redacted] are unjustified and that I should just suck up the 240$ loss and headache instead of complaining about her sub par work. I offered her multiple times 100$ for her copy paste time (nice on my part the unhappy consumer), but she keeps sticking to her no refund contract that she did not live up to. I have never threatened her, I have given her options on how to resolve the issue and she keeps defending herself saying "he signed a contract" instead of actually defending her work. Why is that? because she can't defend her work. Even in this response she states "after looking at his examples, I offered to add a publications section" completely ignoring the fact that she did not add anything I specifically asked for originally, but merely copy pasted my answers from the questionnaire, while ignoring my requests to add work experience and other things that make me stand out as a research candidate. Carly simply copy pastes a template and charges 240$. She add zero PROFESSIONAL WRITING to her work, which is why I hired her, not to simply give me a 240$ template that I can fill out for free on [redacted]. Like Carly, I have shown her work to many professionals who all agreed that there appears to be nothing professional about it and a waste of money. I have provided a copy of the questionnaire I filled out and returned to Carly (CV initinal info), followed by her CV she provided (Carly CV). I then attached a copy of the CV I wrote for myself([redacted] CV) and I am not a great writer, nor professional writer. I also provided the multiple unprofessional texts she sent to me before I had told her I was disappointed from her work, I was unable to load the other 4 messages, which included another flyer. The reason I wanted a partial refund to begin with was that I was short on time and her first draft proved that she was not a professional writer and did not listen to what I wanted and I was spending more time having to explain to her why the CV was bad than the time it would take me to write it myself. As stated before I asked for a partial refund because I did not want her to think I was trying to get something for free. If she thinks this work is professional, she should rethink careers. My wife and I have hired professionals before and been very satisfied with the professionalism, time taken, and resumes they provided. I would also like to state that Carly never called until a day after I was unhappy, which she called once and I was doing field work at the time, so I emailed her a response later.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
Wednesday, March 21, 2017 [redacted] willingly entered into a non-refundable agreement for a curriculum vitae. When I say “willingly” I mean I have my prospective clients review my agreements prior to signing them to determine if they have any questions, comments, concerns, things to change and...
I am willing to accommodate them as necessary PRIOR to them sending any money to me. [redacted] had no problems with the agreement he signed. He had the freedom to easily decline working with me (as clients have before after reviewing my agreement). [redacted] willingly signed the non-refundable agreement.I honored his week deadline even though most agreements go for at least 10 days plus to give clients enough time to not feel rushed. My process of working with clients starts with us agreeing on a deadline, I draft up an agreement outlining the project details, and then payment is received. It takes a couple days for payment to arrive (whether it’s a check in the mail or a debit card processing) as well as the signed agreement from the client to be mailed or emailed back to me. If they have an existing resume (or curriculum vitae) they email it to me. I then review their resume and inform them that I will email them any questions to develop their resume/cv. I then text them to inform them to check their email so that there is clear communication and no lag time. I do this each time I email them. I then develop the first draft and then email to them for their review. I request that if there are no corrections that they want made, I have them send an email stating so.With [redacted], I was never able to reach him on the phone throughout the whole time we talked AND he NEVER replied back about his curriculum vitae until I followed up with him. He complained that the “first draft” of his curriculum vitae was something that he could’ve done himself. I apologized that he was unhappy via email since I could not reach him any way on his phone. This is the FIRST draft meaning this is when [redacted] can tell me to add/remove things he doesn’t like just like I highlighted information that I needed from him to provide to me to complete the curriculum vitae. First draft meaning it is NOT the final draft. I explained this to him. Second, I reviewed [redacted]’s attachment and I did put the heading with contact info, educational section, achievements & activities, presentations, professional associations, and even community involvement (which I removed since [redacted] informed me he had none) that is not my fault. Third, after reviewing [redacted] example, I informed him that we can definitely add a publications section, recent/current research, educational travel, and grants received (which I see that we currently do not have) and anything else that [redacted] felt was appropriate. I requested he tell me what sections he wanted me to add and I would. Asking for a refund before he even give me a chance to finish the project isn't right and I informed him of all of this via email. [redacted] became even more upset and disputed it on [redacted], a site I use for generating customers. Their dispute center allows you to communicate to each other where [redacted] can act as a third party and see what we are communicating to each other. [redacted] repeatedly harassed and threatened me that if I did not give him partial and then full refund that he would other measures, such as small claims court, etc. He did this for about a month and during that same month my [redacted] account was de-activated as a result of his behavior and I had to spend a couple days short of a month trying to get it back on. I called [redacted] 4 times before I could talk to the supervisor handling my case and on the 4th time it took an hour to convince her to enable my account since I had never had an issue with a client before. In the 3 years I’ve been on [redacted], I’ve had 11 five star reviews and no other reviews. Finally, [redacted] enabled my account and I still had to wait 24 hours for leads to come through. Aside from my account being disabled for that month and me not being able to get business from them, I had to worry about the stress, threats, and harassment of [redacted]’s messages in the [redacted] dispute resolution center and respond to them immediately otherwise [redacted] deemed me as not being cooperative with trying to communicate with the client. I provided the agreement he signed, the work I provided him, and my email communications with him to [redacted] and thank God my account is back on and no refund occurred because again he entered a non-refundable agreement. I even consulted with my attorney (I have a legal service called [redacted]) in which a full staff of different specialized attorneys can respond to your legal question. That attorney didn’t know me so there was no bias and he said to remind the client he entered a non-refundable agreement and re-state that I did everything I could to satisfy him but all he did was complain and not tell me what he wanted to add or remove on his curriculum vitae. It is NOT my fault that he didn’t have certain experience, for example, community involvement to showcase on his curriculum vitae. [redacted] also wrote a 1 star awful review on my [redacted] profile uploading the text messages of two free networking events and talks I invited him, too complaining I was advertising to him when I share with everyone I meet about the free networking group I run for job seekers, business owners, and recruiters. I routinely give free half hour talks at the networking group on how to market yourself to get a job. I always state to people if they don’t think it’s for them, if they could just pass along to other job seekers, business owners, or recruiters they know. There was no pressure for him to buy anything. It’s all free. Of course it made sense to share with him since he was needing a curriculum vitae. I am a big advocate of networking in general and believe and preach to my networking groups that we all need to network even when we don’t need jobs or business, all the time we should be networking as much as we can. Even my credit card company ruled in my favor (besides [redacted]) so I pray you rule in my favor as well. Again, the 4 years I’ve been in business as of this past December I have had NO complaints to the Revdex.com. In this situation, there could’ve been nothing I could’ve given [redacted] to satisfy him aside from a refund in which needs to compensate me for the work I did do, not counting the harassment, threats, stress, time, energy, and business I gave up for a month off [redacted] for [redacted]’s tantrum. When I told my mom about the experience, she couldn’t understand why someone with a PHD could behave this way. Sometimes there is no satisfying the other person and the best thing to do is to move on which is what I plan to do regarding this whole situation. Your most favorable consideration is greatly appreciated. Carly C[redacted]
